It’s WHAT day already? The Horoscope for the week of September 9th

Not like Suthern though, obviously. To afford that kind of woodland up here would require a couple of order of magnitude more scratch than I have.
Trees. I has them.

I seemed to have lost a few days.  I’m assuming that sweating out my own body weight twice daily by moving house in 95 degree weather with humidity imported from the Gulf Coast then crashing on the floor because you can’t make the effort to unpack the bed and waking up at dawn because of your glorious new 5′ x 5’9″ windows that don’t have blinds yet and repeating the day over again might have something to do with that.  On the other hand, when the dew point gets over 85, it does provide a really nice demonstration of the efficacy of modern multi-paned windows as the condensation only was on the outside of the outer pane.

Digital cameras seem to have trouble with blue. The actual color is darker.
The floor upon which I slept. On the wall to the left, I’ve put a 3’x 4′ mirror to make it even more sunlighty
It's a maple.
Mirror is on that space on the left. Also, Tree.

But seriously though, fuck this weather.  I expected this bullshit when I lived in Houston but I thought the exorbitant real estate prices were supposed to be offset by having better weather.

You may wonder why I wasn’t prepared for this weather, what with my ability to read the stars and all.  The answer is simple: celestial objects have no bearing on the weather.  If you don’t believe me, just ask the IPCC.  The rest of my predictions from last week’s reading came true, with the exception of the pest control thing.

For this week, there are some interesting things, generally positive.  There is a really complicated construction based around the Earth-Venus-Jupiter alignment that has solidified from last week.  This backbone is a really good thing, but we have two oppositional axes forming against it.  The first is Mercury in opposition through Venus.  So we’ve got disruptive events having to do with your love life.  If your SO is suddenly increasing the amount and variety of the snu-snu they’re giving you, it’s because they’re compensating for having taken on a side-piece.  Sorry about that.  Or enjoy it while it lasts.  You do you.  The other oppositional axis is drawn between the new moon and Mars.  This is the kind of thing that results in Dear John letters and/or your newborn resembling a serviceman who was NOT out on deployment at the same time you were.

The sun is in Virgo.  This has splashover results for the rest of us in focus and resistance to peer pressure.  But for us non-virgins, that effect is negated this week as we have two change-lights (Mercury and the Moon) conjoined in that sign.  If Virgo is your birth sign however, you will have particular success in overcoming disruptions.

I really need to learn how to take care of Maple trees.
The sun is also in my east-facing breakfast nook. Also, another maple.

Venus remains in Virgo for another week, so if you are benefiting/suffering from guilt-induced turbosex, your relationship will hold together, at least for this week.

I have such fond memories of kitchen counters, I"ll need to break these in.
Home cookin’

We (still) have the conjunction of Mars and Saturn in Capricorn.  Wars destroy resources.  In other news, water is wet.  And Jupiter is still in Scorpio, but because of that Venus alignment, we should expect the beneficent aspects of that sign: good sex, particularly good sex in the context of formal/official relationships (due to the rulership/governmental aspect of Jupiter).

All glibs are welcome to stay at my new home!  Just fill out the visitation application (including the non-refundable application fee) and once we’ve run the credit check and settled on the damage insurance and liability waivers, I’ll see about scheduling your visit.

    Nice place. Where’s the bar?

The answer is simple: celestial objects have no bearing on the weather. If you don’t believe me, just ask the IPCC.

    True that.

I’m a Virgo so maybe I’ll get some help with a couple possible interviews this week.

    1. Yusef drives a Kia

I am too, so, Good luck to me as well? I’m looking too….

      1. AlmightyJB

It’s my same department but different teams. A promotion of sorts. I’m highly qualified for either position so I’m sure I’ll at least get interviews. I’m hoping it happens this week as I’m on vacation the following week. Good luck with your quest as well:)

      2. Fourscore

Looks like good news comes in 3s. Good luck to Not Adahn, Almighty and Yusef. Good luck, do well and everyone will have more carbon sequestering trees in their future.

        1. AlmightyJB

          Thanks Fourscore!

  7. What’s with the tiny window in the breakfast nook?

      Drive-through nooky?

I like the link RC posted yesterday. Apparently every single word she has said about herself is a bald-faced lie.

  8. PieInTheSky

Wow Americans have such tiny houses

  9. SP

Nice place! I’m all about trees. And you have good light, too.

My library is that shade of blue with all white shelves lining it.

But, I hope you negotiated a discount on the asking price since someone stole your front porch.

    1. PieInTheSky

I prefer a back porch for privacy depending on distance to the street

      1. SP

I prefer a big, wide front porch that wraps around the side, and a big partially covered multilevel deck out back, right off the kitchen, with a wood burning pizza oven and massive grill, and wine refrigerator.

Not that I currently have that.

        1. PieInTheSky

But that would mean needing to get snow or leaves or stuff of the porch and i would not use it if i had the back area

          1. SP

The front would specifically be for a porch swing to sit upon in nice weather while expecting a package or guest to arrive.

My orphans would clean and/or shovel.

And it just looks nice with flowers and herb plants in baskets in the summer, and lights and greenery strung for Christmas.

          2. Tundra

Something like this would work for me.

          3. SP

That looks very much like my porch in New Mexico.

            Homesick!

            La Sal mountains, UT. Gorgeous.

          5. SP

I really need to find a way to move out West again. I’ll manage it within the next 5 years, or, hopefully, sooner.

          6. Tundra

Me too. If Spawn 2 ends up out west, we’re gone.

For sipping mint juleps, because like all good libertarians, you support State’s Rights.

        3. westernsloper

You just described the back of the house I would like to build next to my shop one day. Except it will be split level so the wrap around front porch may just be a small courtyard in front with an arched entrance. The back off the kitchen will have a multi level deck with 10-8 ft “adobe” walls (to hide weed plants) a wood fired pizza oven and outdoor kitchen with both charcoal and gas grills and a 36″ flat top with concrete counter tops and a stainless steel topped island. Under counter refrigeration/wine cooler including beer tap and an endless pool. I have the lot to build it, I just need to win the lottery and construction shall commence.

          1. SP

We’ll be your neighbors and come over and cook and hang out. (I didn’t type as much detail because I’m on my phone, but, yep, sounds just right!)

  10. Mojeaux

    Lovely!

  11. Nephilium

Sweet Cheebus, the Browns are shitting the bed. At least there’s good beer and food available.

    1. Tres Cool

Cincinnati is play just like, well…..cincinnati.

      1. Rhywun

        +1 Bills

      2. Nephilium

The second half has been better. But can our QB actually pass for once? I’ve moved on to the higher ABV beers. Currently on a Bomb! from Prairie.

        1. Nephilium

And never mind about the Browns. Next will probably be the Oracle from Bells, then home.

  12. Spudalicious

It’s a rough day at the Spud household. I fell asleep during the fourth quarter last night. I woke up and went to bed at 5am. I’m trashed and I have an afternoon of yard work to do. I hate 8:15 kickoffs. I’m too old for this shit.

  13. trshmnstr

Speaking of houses, I’m starting to think about putting together a dollhouse for baby trshmnstr. The goal is an heirloom quality faithful reproduction of the Little Women orchard house. I think the target date would be Christmas 2019 for completion.

Anybody have any experience with such things? I have basic woodworking experience, but not in miniature, and not in the level of detail that I envision for this project. I’ll need to make a list of tools to get based on the types of cuts and joints I need to make.

Get ready to spend Time and Money, Do Research First! There are too many choices to think of, and you can waste a lot of TandM on bad decisions.

      1. trshmnstr

I’m thinking that I’ll plan out the final dollhouse so I know what sorts of skills I need to learn, and then I’ll do a basic dollhouse that incorporates those skills. Once I complete the basic dollhouse, I’ll modify the plans for the nice one based on what I learn, and then I’ll start working on it. If it slips to May 2020, so be it. Gives me plenty of time to do it right, make mistakes, and learn a ton.

    2. Yusef drives a Kia

Looking at the house, It should be pretty straight forward to build in any reasonable scale, find the Furniture and stuff you want, and scale it from there

    3. Mojeaux

When I see the cute furniture at Hobby Lobby I’m always tempted to take it up as a hobby. Thankfully, I regain my senses just in time.

    4. SP

I built a dollhouse for Web Dom, but she was about 6 at the time. I was afraid any younger and she wouldn’t be able to take care of it properly.

I loved doing the whole project. Sadly, it was destroyed in a fire a couple years later.

      1. trshmnstr

I have a bit of fear of giving it to a 2.5 or 3 year old, but I’d be much more concerned if I were doing a Victorian house with the ornate work. I’m hoping that the design simplicity works in my favor. The fewer fiddly pieces, the fewer things that can snap off when things get thrown or leaned on or slammed.

        1. SP

Yes, it was a Victorian much like the house in which I grew up and that my kids spent time in every other day,

I did have to replace some porch railings and gingerbread from time to time, mostly because my son was a baby when it was finished.

Make sure you wire it. The lighting was super fun. We had Christmas lights and lighted wreaths, along with candelabras and desk lamps etc.

      2. trshmnstr

Thats too bad about the dollhouse and the fire! Hopefully she got some years of fun out of it first.
