There are no good famous birthdays today, sorry to any Glibs who have a birthday today, so I guess I’ll dive directly into the links.

College Days; It was a snowy day. I parked my 2WD truck on top of hill in a residential area; anything to save a few bucks.
I’m walking past a cheap-o apartment complex and have to stop for the car coming out of the entrance. It’s an Asian woman driver. Who is going too fast for the conditions. The careens into the pickup parked across the street, but keeps on going, bouncing into several more parked cars before getting to the stop sign on the bottom of the hill. She didn’t stop even for that, and kept on truckin’ on, leaving the destruction in her wake.
I was glad that day that I parked up, away from that derby.
PC load letter ?!?!
WTF does that even fucking mean??
(P)aper (C)artridge: Load letter (sized paper.)

If you’re using native, go universal; or vice versa.
It’s all the energy saver bullshit. When they go into sleep mode, it screws everything up.
Always turn that crap off. Nothing is more useless than that energy saver shit.
Can’t turn it off. Thanks EPA.
I would never allow them to get shit that would force you to put up with poor quality. It’s your fucking money being spent.
Firmware upgrade? That does incur a small risk of bricking the unit.
I just “repaired” a friend’s camera by doing that.
Nah. The EPA mandates a sleep mode on all new printers. You can’t turn it off, just delay it. I’ve fixed it for the time being, but it will happen again. Right as I’m printing a bunch of progress billing invoices that are a PITA to pull back out of the system and reprint.
Not to turn off the sleep feature, but to hopefully fix whatever issue you were having with the printer. I was assuming it was a wakeup issue and those are often on the printer side rather than the driver (pc) side.
As a workaround, print everything to pdf then you can print to paper as needed.
Or just set up a scheduled job to print a blank document every x minutes, where x is just under the threshold for the machine going into sleep mode.
C’mon, computer guys can hack into CIA databases, change college transcripts, and commandeer building security cameras and alarms with a few keystrokes. You’re telling me you can’t come up with a virus that disables the sleep mode on fucking printer?
Go paperless. Save a tree
Have you checked the thermostat?
A study that does not surprise anyone that’s not a liberal, finds that white liberals dumb down their vocabulary when talking to minorities.
doing otherwise would be racist
“There’s less work that explores how well-intentioned whites try to get along with racial minorities.”
You should hear how those not well-intentioned speak to them.
I get an earful from my very liberal AA fiancee about white folks saying insulting things without seemingly being conscious of how those words come across. Like, when finding she has 4 siblings, asking questions about how many fathers there were.
She hasn’t drawn any correlations about the political views of those doing such things, though since her circle of associates is almost all liberals …
It’s almost like white liberals who do stuff like that haven’t gotten close enough to any minorities to be told, “Don’t be that guy/gal!”
So how many?
6?
One, though he left her struggling as a single mother for quite a while before she remarried. Her family went from really poor, as in public housing for a bit poor, to all five siblings doing quite well financially.
Reminds me of the teacher in Everybody Hates Chris.
Hillary doesn’t feel no ways tired!
Jesus H. Christ. I have no idea how that woman doesn’t induce boiling rage in the people she’s addressing every time she opens her mouth.
A study that does not surprise anyone that’s not a liberal, finds that white liberals dumb down their vocabulary when talking to minorities.
Some folks just need things put simply.
Nothing is more offensive to me than people that think they are helping the people they think are “slow folk” by making it OK to be even slower through government fiat. How fucking insulting.
I just talk louder and annunciate better….and throw in a little jive, of course, yo.

First of all, using “my grandmother was black!” in an argument such as this is a huge red flag, so don’t do it in the future. And this graphic would look perfectly at home at a KKK rally. Isn’t that enough to admit that it was a bad idea to make it, intentional or not?

Its a play on using a cedar splint to light your cigar. You light the splint with a lighter or match, then you light the cigar with the splint. It avoids the smell of petrochemicals from the lighter or (pretend I know what’s in a modern matchhead) from the match. Using a $100 bill is a statement that you are so rich $100 is as close to valueless as it makes no difference.

What baffles me is that these people fit the definition of insanity by constantly doing the same stupid shit and getting the same stupid results. When I heard this idiotic show was coming back I bet a buddy they would pour a ton of money trying to keep it on for more than a season, and all because they wanted to have it be all woke and shit and be able to say the problem was the stupid fans not wanting to watch it. And popular shows that are not woke get pulled off the air (or have their main character attacked for saying stupid shit that doesn’t come close to being as offensive to people as the shit the woke leftards say) out of spite.
Hollywood is truly an inbred degenerate house of stupidity.

I wish I had time to meet you all. Job is all I do these days.
Family and Jobs for me too. It’d be fun to get us all together once. I’m terrible at organizing stuff like that, though (as you and RH know). Send me a message if you have time, shoot me a message.

Buy Leap or MikeS a plane ticket to Japan. They’re excellent organizers and seems to not actively dislike other people just on principle.
That is how us Minnesoda Glibs ended up meeting each other. When one of those two took it upon themselves to organize a meetup.
All that I ask for this excellent advice is that those guys mule back a bunch of habu sake for me.
That sounds awfully expensive. But if you’ll finish the entire bottle of Habushu, I’ll pay for your ticket.

Trump is so pathetic. All he does is whine about how the noble media treat him.
As evening fell on Wednesday, both Trumps briefly paused to preside over the lighting of the national Christmas tree at the Ellipse. Only in this White House could you say it was the least controversial Christmas tree moment of the day.
“Merry Christmas, everybody,” Mr. Trump said to a crowd of would-be merrymakers. He repeated the phrase, which he has credited himself with saving, for emphasis. “It’s great to be with you.”
The president did not draw out the moment. After a brief countdown and a minute or so of greeting the crowd assembled to observe the holiday tradition, Mr. Trump took his wife’s hand and ushered her offstage.
The president then headed back to the White House, leaving a group of journalists who traveled with him to the event behind.
Boo hoo hoo, that big thin skinned meanie Trump might not throw a giant Festivus celebration for the benefit of the press.
Also, those red Christmas trees are icky. Trump’s America is a cold, sad place.
Fuck these dnc operatives with bylines hard. Let them cry! Those tears sure are sweet.

Justice Neil Gorsuch was incredulous that Indiana Solicitor General Thomas Fisher was urging the justices to rule that states should not be held to the same standard.

Then we get to fight over what “excessive” means. But yeah, this should be an obvious slam dunk.
Right now we can’t even draw that line in the sand.. Excessive means practically every time they do this shit.
It should be pretty obvious that, absent a conviction for anything, any amount greater than zero is excessive.
But that’s being too logical.
*cheers Gorsuch on*
If anything, I’m glad he’s on the court.
Trump’s enduring legacy will be his judicial appointments. Gorsuch is a treasure. Kavanaugh and Barrett (Trump appointee to US Seventh Circuit) are mixed bags.

LOL. It’s a long process, ‘Tater.
First they vote. Then they decide which justice will write the majority opinion. Then the authoring justice goes off and flogs whichever lawclerk is to do the research and drafting. The lawclerk is then locked in a cellar room and fed on Dr Pepper and Cheetos until the poor wretch produces a draft opinion. Then an inquisition with the justice where every comma is suspect, each noun is interrogated, and the lawclerk is again soundly thrashed and returned to his room – repeat this step several times. Then the opinion is circulated and the other concurring justices set their own lawclerks to further bastinado of every jot and tittle of the draft opinion. Finally, a majority opinion is arrived upon. Then the dissenting justices set their lawclerks to further whacking of the piñata. And then there are those special, fancy justices who concur in part and dissent in part. And then it goes to some poor woman with stringy hair who makes sure that the final published opinion is purty. I’m not sure if they still print out paper opinions but that adds production time. And finally the opinion drops, and (at least formerly) was handed across the counter to the lackwits of the press who are always lurking about courthouses, and today the opinion also appears on the court’s webpage.
I’ve dealt with the legal papers of a couple of Supreme Court justices, and you are 100% correct as to process. It’s eerie.

We Need a High Wall With a Big Gate
Since Republicans have completely caved to Trump’s craven exploitation of immigration as a wedge issue, the country, as usual, needs the Democrats to be the adults and put forward a realistic, comprehensive approach to immigration, which now requires two parts.
I’m guessing some internal polling or just an ounce of sense kicked in and they are trying to co opt Trump’s message.
“Since Republicans have completely caved to Trump’s craven exploitation of immigration as a wedge issue”
Ahem… I mean it takes two to make a wedge issue… It’s just that one side decided that “compromising” is stupid if you’re the only one making concessions all the time.
The fact that poll after poll keeps coming back with 72% or higher numbers of people saying this is out of control and needs to be stopped could not have anything to do with their sudden course reversal right after the election that was no blue wave, right?
I don’t know about the “no blue wave”. I’d have to look at what was expected and what was usual. Picking up 38 seats was big. I think it’s disingenuous of us to use the failure to pick up the senate as a reason to discount the “Blue Wave”, since it was never in the cards, the Democrats had way more seats open than the Republicans and in more competitive races.
Team Blue wins eventually. It’s the nature of the state even if the Team Blue person has an “R” in front of their name.
I’m still surprised how well the Democrats did in the House. Then again, too many people get all their news from lefty sources.
Considering the historical trends, the amount of money that team blue spent, and the constant shrieking by the dnc operatives with bylines, that they lost seats in the senate is simply astounding. While 38 seats gained in the house seems to be a large number, I point out that a large number of those seats had the incumbent bow out (and those incumbent were all team red if II recall correctly), making these elections a very non-standard thing. Look at what happened under Obama, and he was heavily favored by the usual dnc operatives, had high approval ratings, and the donkeys outspent the elephants big-time, only to lose both the house and the senate by real large numbers.
A blue wave this was not, which is why we have not heard that claim anymore.
that they lost seats in the senate is simply astounding.
Disagreed. As I’ve said before, this midterm was about as mundane as it gets. The senate pickups were largely due to the Obama reelection in 2012 pushing purple senate seats to light blue. Then, when all those democrats came up for reelection in 2018, the results swung back to previous norms. Maybe 1 or 2 senate seats went red because of Kavanaugh. Maybe 5 or 6 house seats went blue because Trump is a meanie. Overall, the effect of all the rhetoric was negligible.
Per Wikipedia, the median loss of House seats in midterms (half lost more, half lost less) for sitting Prez’s party from 1910 to 2014 was -28. The mean loss was -31. The range was from -77 to +9.
I’d say the Republicans did slightly worse than the average election. It wasn’t a blowout like Obama losing 63 seats in 2010.
The party opposite the president taking the house is a statistical norm in mid-terms. They took it with a very slim margin and failed to get the Senate. It wasn’t a blue wave.
The utter revulsion at Trump was supposed to flip both houses, and the House by a much bigger margin. Blue Tsunami, it was being called. The end result was typical mid term swing.
I’m afraid the GOP is whistling by the graveyard. The economy was roaring at this mid-term. Voters don’t go to the polls and change their preferred votes just because “hey,
its a mid term and the minor party is supposed to pick up seats, so let’s vote for them.”
In 2016, Cal. Republican Rohrabacher won by 17% in a district that Clinton carried.
In 2018, he lost by 4%. This is a blue wave and to deny there will be further losses in 2020, when the GOP has to defend plenty of Senate seats is just foolish. Start planning now, & gin up another Tea Party-pissed off conservatives movement.
They’re just shitting on the chess board as usual.
We should get tough on the border, hire 600,000 new border patrol administrators, install high definition cameras on every square inch of the border, amnesty every person who has ever breathed air on American soil, and then do the whole thing all over again 30 years from now when the number of illegal immigrants is 10 times what it was when we started. Worked with the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986 and the Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act of 1996. Hell, we’re 20 years overdue.
I’ve got an idea! Compromise with the Democratic Socialists. They get their guaranteed Jobs Program, but the Jobs have to be monitoring the Border. / Actually a terrible idea.

They are shifting away from the bullshit Russia story that has basically fallen flat on its face to a new line stating that team Orangeman conspired with Wikileaks to put out those evil emails that cost Hillary her divine right to the office of the POTUS. You know, those emails that showed how the Clinton campaign, with plenty of help from the Obama admin, not only stole the primary from that old commie Bernie, but how democrats in general were involved in all sorts of illegal activities. I guess they are heavily invested in hoping that the effort from the dnc operatives with bylines to create the false perspective that the email content was not accurate will stick with enough low information voters for them to spend another 2 years pants shitting about evil Trump and raking in campaign donations from rich white asshats.
Team Orangeman? This is Jim Boeheim’s fault?
I can, as a an alumnus with an MS in E.E from the Cuse re-appropriate that name for team Trump.
Scandal free administration Alex. Scandal Free.
Wikileaks is now a Putin-affiliated cog in the vast right wing conspiracy, didn’t you know that? It’s amazing what a difference one presidential election can make. Time was Wikileaks was the heroic opposition to the Bush war machine publishing the Manning leaks.
How much in damages for that kind of libel?
How could anyone enter the Ecuadorian embassy without them knowing?
I don’t know, ask the Saudis.
Big above the fold headline “Manafort may have met Assange” on my stupid local rag last night. No one but beltway starfuckers care.
The GM plants closing are bigger news.
The case of CERN v. Alessandro Strumia. Parties have been sworn in, you may take a seat….except SJW please wait outside since law is part of the patriarchy.
Pretty harrowing. I didn’t realize there was a ‘Particles for Justice’ (look them up. Read it. Weep). The people who joined should be permanently embarrassed just on that horrible name alone.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sOCIke7zLMo
From their website:
“On Friday, September 28th, 2018, a talk was given at CERN by Alessandro Strumia, a well-known particle theorist who is a Professor of Physics at the University of Pisa and a current associate of the theory department at CERN. In this talk he argued that the primary explanation for the discrepancies between men and women in theoretical physics is that women are inherently less capable. As particle physicists, we are appalled by Strumia’s actions and his stated views on women in high energy physics.”
Now i’m going to have to read what he said because i doubt it was so simple and was more of an acknowledgement of some statistical artifact. Kinda like Demore, or Charles Murray.
I think that some Progressives have a hard time understanding statistics (NOTE: i think most people have a hard time understanding statistics, but i’m just offering on example for why), in part because collectivizing is part of their thought process (look at me doing the same). If you think collectively you will probably apply statistics about a general population down to any member of that population. But statistics are just aggregates and you can only get an aggregate view from them.
‘PUT HIM AGAINST THE WALL OF DEAD PATRIARCHY!!!’
It’s more cynical than that.
Strumia pointed out that female physicists get hired with half the typical citations as males and are advance in their careers with half the citations that are required for men.
It wasn’t even close. He was blowing up the myth that the physics world is stacked against women, when in effect it is stacked in their favor by a factor of two.
Needless to say, the progs went ballistic. They don’t tolerate wrongthink.
Imagine if it were the opposite. We’d never hear the end of how the Physics world is staked against women. In other words, we’d get the same results.
His crime was to not accept the bullshit and state reality, and nothing pisses off the SJW crowd more than people that refuse to just accept their bullshit.
What’s troubling is thousands of people lent their name to PFJ.
It’s outrageous.
Then again, being brilliant doesn’t mean you’re wise or smart about everything.
I have a doctor friend who argues and insist, ‘free speech ends at someone’s offense’.
What’s troubling is thousands of people lent their name to PFJ.
What does the People’s Front of Judea have to do with this?
What have the Physicists ever done for US!?!
Splitter!
I have a doctor friend who argues and insist, ‘free speech ends at someone’s offense’.
I assume you told him that you were offended at that remark.
It’s the top-down Idiocracy I’ve been discussing. Basically, they’re saying you can’t cite verifiable, objective, fact if it contradicts the narrative. In physics. Who the fuck do they think they’re going to get to be physicists under those terms. Most of these guys can easily enough trade in their diplomas for six figure jobs on Wall Street. The reason most don’t is because they actually have a thing for discovering the truth. Now, they’re being told that the truth is whatever the party dictates.
It’s exactly like Damore and Murray. The video does a decent job of summarizing what he presented.
Progressives have a hard time understanding statistics
Well, they are the party of women.
I’m about halfway thru. Thanks.
Fiamengo has been on my radar for about a year. It was nice to see Rubin and Woods have her on their shows. To be perfectly honest, it took a while to get over her bizarre appearance. Wish I had a Lit. prof like her in University.
Being in the same field (I have referred to many papers with A. Strumia as one of the authors), I feel like I should sign the petition supporting him. However, that might not be the best for me in the long run (even though I do have tenure and will retire in a few years anyway).
Since I missed the sibling thing last night……I have one sister. I am eight years older to her. We get along quite well, but we’re not really confidantes or anything, so I guess whether we’re particularly close depends on how you define that term. As far as birth order goes, being two siblings eight years apart means that in some ways we’re each kind of only children. I was an only child for the first half of childhood, and she was the only child in the house for the second half of hers. I moved cross country when I was 22 and she was 14, so I only saw her occasionally for the12 years that followed, until I moved back here in 2011. That distance kind of precluded us from being THAT close, I think. While we share some things in common, on the whole we’re very different people. She’s extroverted and has a million friends, I’m introverted and only have a few very close friends. Although she spent much of her professional life working in Republican politics, she has grown very much into the stereotypical wealthy liberalish suburban white woman, the sort that much ink has been spilled about in the midterm postmortems.
/looks around. Gingerly stretches arms out.
Hug?
/shrugs shoulders to others in room.
Hah….didn’t intend it to sound sad. Like I said, we get along great, see each other every week at our parents’ usual family Sunday dinner, our kids play together all the time. We just don’t have the deepest kind of sibling bond.
“Although she spent much of her professional life working in Republican politics, she has grown very much into the stereotypical wealthy liberalish suburban white woman, the sort that much ink has been spilled about in the midterm postmortems.”
Yeah sounds about right. That’s honestly why the country is completely fucked. She’s not at all unique among Republican operatives. More the norm honestly.
The reason the Dems win, long term, is that their party hacks and operatives say to the base “We can’t get all of your goals right now, but we can get 25% of them, and then we will push on the rest next chance we get.” Then they do it.
Meanwhile in the Republican Party you have the party hacks and operatives saying to the base “None of your goals are actually attainable, all we can do is give ground slowly. It’s literally impossible to do any of the shit we run on.” They consider a victory to be “The Democrats didn’t cum in our hair this time, they let us swallow. Yay GOP!!!!!!”
The leadership of the Republican Party, even the “conservatives” are basically a Kennedy Democrat, politically speaking. If you sat down the average GOP politician with the federal budget and a red pen, he’d cut a few things. Might even balance it at a trillion. If you sat down the average Republican voter with the federal budget and a red pen, he’d need a whole box of red pens.
She worked for years for Eric Cantor and was giddy that Brat lost, so yeah, you can draw your own conclusions on that one. She’s more the kind of squishy Republican who hates Trump and doesn’t want to be an outcast among her lefty friends.
US life expectancy drops again as overdoses climb
What we need is some common sense Drug Control….
What they need to do is split the statistics out so drug related suicides are not counted along with deaths caused by drug related crime…
Life expectancy calculations are a sham.
They also use the terms “life expectancy” and “average life span” interchangeably even though they aren’t, so I’m not even sure exactly which measure was moved.
Opioid use is not a communicable disease, so there is no “opioid epidemic”. And maybe if prescription painkillers weren’t so restricted and controlled by arbitrary government diktats, there wouldn’t be so much use of dangerous and unreliable black market drugs.
Daily Mail is more honest about the cause:
“Drug overdose deaths soared 10% in 2017 driven by fentanyl flooding the US from China
Fentanyl, the synthetic opioid 100 times stronger than morphine, was the driving culprit, alone accounting for a 45 percent increase in deaths between 2016 and 2017.
But experts say that after legislation in several states set limits on prescription painkillers, users turned to illicit opioids like fentanyl to feed their addiction, worsening the already deadly epidemic.”

CNN commentator Marc Lamont Hill calls for the destruction of Israel
No, wait, he just calls for a one-state solution where everyone will live in peace and harmony. My bad!
First damn comment:
Colette Gaiter
@cgaiter @AnneBayefskyさん、@TempleUnivさん、@marclamonthillさん
That is not what I heard him say in this video.
Why are you making things up? I heard “free Palestine from the river to the sea.”
Not sure what that means exactly, but it was not anything about “destruction of the Jewish state”…
I’m sure exactly what that means and OWMC is the only Jew I know.
Not sure what that means exactly
Then why did you bother with the rest of the sentence, hon?
I know this nice single (((woman)))…
You didn’t have to be this mean to my face, man. 🙁
I mean, it’s right there in his handle! Jew-venile…
Ooops. As pointed out above, I’m drunk. *Apologies.
Why are you making things up? I heard “free Palestine from the river to the sea.”
This person probably thinks “the Jewish question” is an innocent phrase as well. After all, it says nothing about the destruction of the Jewish state, it’s “just asking questions”. SMH
“One-State Solution”
hmm, doesn’t seem definitive enough, needs more finality.
He just wants Palestine to be free all the way up to the sea. If only Israel was just not in the way.
*SMDH*
How can you be against freedom?
Anyone have a recommendation for a wireless card for my desktop?
I have thought of all possible ways to avoid this, but it’s not going to happen in the current situation.
I’d love to be able to play some games online again.
The WiFi is of good quality, so if the card is ok or good, it should be fine.
Any input would be great!
Oh. I have 29 inches of snow in the last 48 hours. I didn’t have power for the last 28.
PCIe > USB. Don’t expect ethernet performance though, even if you’re 5 feet from a 5 Ghz signal.
Yeah. I know it’s gonna suck for speed. Hoping it’ll pull something acceptable until I can figure out how to wire something over to it.
Speed actually won’t be the biggest issue, throughput and packet loss will be. Due to logistical issues I had to play games on wireless for a couple years. You drop a few packets, lag, say a few curse words, rinse and repeat every couple hours. There’s worse things.
I can handle that I think. It’ll be a few “how did you see me?!” Outbursts probably.
Skip the wireless card and look up getting some Powerline adapters. Plug an ethernet cable from your modem into the adapter, plugged into the wall. Plug in a second adapter at your PC and run an ethernet cable from it to your PC.
I was getting awful performance on my wifi until I started using them . Any of these should work.
You mean like a PCI adapter or a USB one? Friend of mine got this one (PCI) when I was helping him pick parts to build a computer earlier this year, seems to work fine for him. https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833704241
It was 48 degrees here this morning. Saw a ton of kids with hat/scarves/gloves on.
Any frozen iguanas too?
I have a tiny lizard in my bathroom sink, if that helps.
*Much preferred to roaches. I try to chase them outside live when I can. Florida problems*
Hoping pci, I think they have a slightly better speed than usb. That one looks good.
The Subaru got stuck in the foot of snow on the road. They aren’t great when no one’s plowed. There’s just so much heavy snow.
Yeah, been there (when I lived in Syracuse).
Most fun I ever had driving was the day before Thanksgiving in 2000 after a huge lake effect snowstorm blew through.
If you’re in the market for a mobo upgrade any time soon I’ve noticed a bunch that have on-board WiFi. I just picked one up and gave it a whirl, although I’ve got a wired connection. Down was fine, up was poo, and that’ll kill you for online games.
Yeah I’m a little worried about it but wired isn’t going to be an option for a while there. Mobo soon, but this will be a stop gap
Swastikas painted on Jewish professor’s office at Columbia University
Over/under on how long until this is found to be a hoax?
4 days. Not that anyone will say that.
Once it is found out to be a hoax or perpetrated by some SJW that wanted to create a discussion on the topic (or whatever other nonsense these retards say once they are caught), I bet the only news outlets to cover it will be the ones not manned by dnc operatives with bylines…
I’m pretty certain Columbia has some…shall we say “Pro-Palestine” students.
Yeah, seen that elsewhere. If it was actually someone anti-Semitic, it’ll be from the campus BDS/SJP wing.
But of course, they’re totes not anti-Semitic, so…
Only anti-Zionist, of course. It’s completely incidental that Zionists are Jews.
My take on the anti-Zionists has been that they are totes fine with Jews not living in Israel, and won’t call for their extermination as well until they have exterminated the ones in Israel first. It’s all about messaging and priorities.
And when one of them is identified as the culprit rather than some “white nationalist”, it will be wept under the rug.
Ooh, I like wept under the rug. Perfect for crybabies that hide dirty deeds.
LOL, typo that actually works in context. A genuine “John-O”.
I don’t think there is a single “white nationalist” at Columbia.
What do you mean? They’re everywhere!!
You’ve got to be fucking kidding me. Who is stupid enough to believe that there are Neo-Nazi’s lurking on the upper West Side?
Vox?
If it was done by a leftist, it will be called a Hoax, but good to raise an important conversation.
If it was done by a Nazi, it will be decried that Trump did it himself.
Third option, It was a confused Buddhist
No, in both cases Trump will be to blame.
That is always the correct answer.
#OrangeManBad
Besides which, it’s at the Teacher’s College. That is prog ground zero.
Outside of Oberlin and Evergreen, you probably can’t find a denser concentration of SJW nutjobs than at Columbia Teacher’s College.
OT: This week our new IT director started. I had my first one-on-one meeting with him yesterday; more of a getting to know you thing than anything overly technical.
After describing in broad terms what I do, I couldn’t help myself and told him about the VP’s idea of having me report to the newest person in the department.
He made a sort of funny “what the fuck?” kind of face and said – “that doesn’t make any sense, she’s just a business analyst. Are you reporting to her now?”
Me: “No, but I will be in a few months.”
Him: Well I want everyone reporting directly to me. I’ll have a talk with the VP about this.
So we’ll see what happens. He seems like a nice enough guy; very good people skills. And he should be allowed to run the department the way he wants, not from a VP who has zero computer/IS background. She’s just a paralegal, not even a goddamn JD.
Why do you hate women?
Why does he love Credentialism?
Meh – the VP is a mean bitch who treats all of her employees, not just me, like shit. And she’s grossly underqualified for the job, given the title for diversity sake. And given control of IS because the HR VP didn’t want to do it.
She was initially hired to do “legal services” for the company; where a company our size would have been better served by having actual legal counsel.
Because he’s a shitlord, of course!

It’s Trump’s world, now.
The episode comes amid mounting concerns about anti-Semitism, rebooted for the 21st century as memory of the Holocaust begins to fade. In February, the Anti-Defamation League reported that the number of anti-Semitic incidents was nearly 60 percent higher in 2017 than in 2016, marking the largest single-year increase on record and the second-highest number reported since the organization began collecting incident data. Meanwhile, many Americans lack basic knowledge about the Holocaust, such as the name of a single concentration camp, according to a survey released in April.
The problem is not limited to the sort of symbolism that marred the professor’s office walls. It’s been just over a month since 11 congregants were massacred in a Pittsburgh synagogue, the deadliest anti-Semitic attack in the nation’s history.
Nor is prejudice limited to the United States. One in three Europeans believe that Jews use the Holocaust to “advance their own positions or goals,” according to a CNN poll released this week.
American schools no longer teach history, I guess. Obviously a Nazi plot.
In February, the Anti-Defamation League reported that the number of anti-Semitic incidents was nearly 60 percent higher in 2017 than in 2016
And what, pray tell, is the breakdown of who is committing these incidents?
IFLS(tatistics)
Meanwhile, many Americans lack basic knowledge about the Holocaust, such as the name of a single concentration camp, according to a survey released in April.
I take issue with this. Naming a camp goes beyond “basic knowledge” in my opinion. Basic knowledge would be knowing that it happened, approximately when, approximately where, who were the perpetrators and victims, and what was the approximate scale. Knowing camp names is not at all necessary info, and not something that should be expected of someone who doesn’t have a special interest in that time in history.
If you can’t come up with Auschwitz or Dachau, you’re not paying attention at all.
I am uncertain which one upset me the most, Dachau or the Killing Fields.
The Chankiri Tree was especially horrifying.
As in, swinging babies by their ankles like baseball bats against it. Or the fingernail scratches in the gas champers. I did both of those explorations alone, and they cause me to get quite emotional at times during docs/movies when they mention either of them. The mountain of skulls, with gunshot holes, in Cambodia is also a charming touch. Also have shelves for the ribs and femurs, etc.
Pisses me off when people bitch about oppression and have no idea what it actually looks like in real life.
Shit is fucking haunting.
This is not a holocost specific issue. Most people can’t name anything about anything. In a shock to people who have spent their whole lives immersed in politics et al in preparation for a career working in the news, most normies don’t give a shit about these kinds of things.
MOAR Tariffs
“The reason that the small truck business in the US is such a go to favorite is that, for many years, Tariffs of 25% have been put on small trucks coming into our country. It is called the ‘chicken tax.’ If we did that with cars coming in, many more cars would be built here […] and G.M. would not be closing their plants in Ohio, Michigan & Maryland. Get smart Congress. Also, the countries that send us cars have taken advantage of the U.S. for decades. The President has great power on this issue – Because of the G.M. event, it is being studied now!” Trump tweeted.
I would really like a useful small truck, but I guess that will never happen.
Get an El Camino.
The chicken tax was so fucking dumb.
Is so dumb. It’s still on the books right?
It is, and Trump wants to double-down and slap it on cars too.
Yep. A Ranger, S-10, or the original Toyota would be perfect for me, but since no one makes compact pickups anymore, I’m out of luck.
Me too. The new Ranger is going to be a bloated mess.
The 2005+ Tacoma is as large as the 200-2005 tundra.
How the heck that’s called small is confusing. I liked my 05 taco but it wasn’t that small. I would like a decent first gen Tacoma. They aren’t clean around here though from the salt
happening across most fronts.
My ’03 Forester would get smashed to bits if it came into contact with a more current model.
GF has an 02 Forester. Things great but yeah it’s a lot smaller than the new guys.
It’s very noticeable with the Outback, too. It used to be a great little wagon, now it’s this huge crossover thing.
CAFE standards killed the station wagon.
They have been replaced by “crossovers” that get classified as trucks that have a lower target for fuel efficiency.
Yup. My dad has a 2005 Tacoma, actually. Great truck that he’s had zero problems with for 13 years, but small it is not.
Loved my ’98 Toyota T100. Eaten by Michigan salt though. It was about the right size for me; as was the first generation Tundra. I also loved my ’94 Nissan Hardbody king cab, but I sold it due to the new baby in the house.
Now the F150, Silverado, Ram, new Tundra, and the Nissan something or another are just too damn big for what I need in a truck. And the latest “mid-sizers” are as about as big as the full-sized trucks from the 80s/90s.
I have an ’02 Sonoma. Love that truck. S-10 has better wheels, but I can live with that.
I guess I’ll throw out the sibling thing too.
I have two younger sisters, 2.5 and 6.5 years younger. Not very close to the middle the one. She lives on a different planet. Apolitical but ridiculously entitled to the point of absurdity. To give an idea, she broke down crying and screaming at me that I ruined her 100k wedding for not crossing my hands the correct way in photographs (re wedding: she married into a very wealthy family to give her this kind of lifestyle). She doesn’t come to holidays anymore or seen her niece or nephew in a long time. That’s fine with us.
I recently started getting much closer with my youngest sister. We’re at the point in life that the age gap stops mattering. She’s very much like me and has a libertarian outlook. Her husband came from a progressive family, but he’s open to listening. I took him shooting for his first time and am very close to making him another 2a convert. They are very involved with our family and come to all the holidays and kids’ birthdays. We’ve even started inviting his parents to our holidays so my sister and husband doesn’t have to choose between.
What do you even say to that?
I like to think he kicked her in the chest, judging by his handle.
My wife would like too. She loathes that sister with contempt beyond description.
There’s no using logic or reality. All you can do is laugh at the absurdity and go find another drink.
Heh. I wore a 70’s leisure suit to my brother’s wedding. An Armenian and a Russian whore in tow. *True story*. He loved it.
Breaking news, straff is John McAfee.
The brother got married in a full Elvis costume. Vegas. It was the best wedding I’ve ever been to. He even had an orangutan there.
You got Trump to attend?
That’s awesome.
I was high as a fucking kite, so it’s all a blur. His wife cries whenever he puts in the wedding video *unfortunately true, too* and that’s the only reason I know it happened.
Those are tears of joy, I’m sure.
While I was not dressed as Elvis, my wedding featured an Elvis impersonator, cloggers, a band featuring the runner-up to Miss West Virginia, and lots of moonshine.
I don’t know why, but Miss West Virginia runner up makes me smile.
My wife has had many acrimonious moments with my mom and sister. Things are decent among them now, but what got them off on the wrong foot way back when is that they both wore white dresses to my wedding and my wife was furious about it. Didn’t understand it then, don’t understand it now.
Were your mom and sister given instructions to wear something else? Usually the mother of the groom is given the wedding colors and asked to wear so ething like that.
If so, especially, the groom’s family wearing white to a wedding is an act of passive-aggressive hostility. You want to a) upstage the bride on her day, and b) let her know you disapprove of her and/or actively hate her and/or c) a declaration that you are going to make her life difficult.
Or it could be simple ignorance, but the wedding party should have been given the wedding colors.
Much complex female politics going on there and if I were the bride, I’d be furious too. Unless the offending party behaves herself post-wedding party, then I’d pass it off as ignorance.
My wedding was very low key if you want to be charitable, hastily thrown together if you don’t. Buckle up for story time. We didn’t have wedding colors. The full story – I asked proposed in early June, as a Marine in training to be a radar techincian at NAS Pensacola. I was graduating training first week of August. Two weeks after I proposed, I received orders to Okinawa, a one year unaccompanied tour (meaning no dependents. You had to be either at least a staff sergeant or willing to stay in Oki for at least two years in order to bring a wife along as a lance corporal).
So, we got to thinking – if we’re already getting married anyway, and since you get extra pay if you’re married and stationed overseas (the usual food and housing allowances, plus separations pay), let’s just have a “secret” civil ceremony before I go, and when I come back we’ll have our real wedding. We’d only tell our parents about the secret wedding. I did not know at that point that her stepmother is evil. So naturally, her stepmother told her mother, who told everyone else in the family that we were getting married and weren’t inviting anyone. Much furor ensued. We decided then to have a small ceremony in her house – in Florida, you can be married by a public notary – in mid-July. We didn’t live anywhere near either of our families, so on such short notice the only attendees were parents, her grandmothers, my sister, her cousin, and a few friends. Our wedding cost a grand total of about $400, a third of which was the notary’s fee. There was no decor or colors or anything. We bought a few bouquets of white flowers for the mantle and hung some white streamers up. Had a small but very nice cake with white chocolate seashells all over it. No other food provided. Went out to dinner with our families that night.
So, since we were now married and everyone knew about it anyway, we never bothered to have the “real” wedding”. Didn’t have a honeymoon either. As far as my mom and sis go, my wife insists that all women know that the bride is the only one supposed to wear white. She had never met them before the wedding but mom made it pretty clear that she thought us rushing into marriage was a bad idea, so my wife (who is by nature suspicious and sees slights everywhere) was convinced they did it intentionally to be rude. This was the start of a simmering feud that boiled over almost three years later when I was coming home from Iraq, was put on the advance party at the last minute so I arrived back in Arizona ten days earlier than expected, my wife was still in Pennsylvania with her parents and I told her not to bother changing her flight since it would cost money, my mother was outraged that she wasn’t there when I got home so she immediately flew to Yuma without telling me because “someone should be there to welcome you”. My wife flew in the morning of the day my mother was leaving in the evening, and all-out screaming commenced. Things quieted down after that and they are on cordial terms now but my wife has always held a bit of a grudge since.
That’s messed up, but for a “let’s get married before I go overseas” wedding, I’ve heard worse from some of my troops.
Your mom sounds like kind of a bitch. Please don’t take it as an insult, I say this as a commiserater. My mom wore white to my wedding on purpose, has threatened to kidnap my oldest to get him baptized in the “right” kind of church, and is an amphetamine and gambling addict who would rather go on casino-comped cruses than see her grandchildren during Christmas.
Yikes…..my mom can be a pain in the ass sometimes, but nothing like that. Fabulous grandma to the kids – that’s actually the main reason my wife started to like her more, once we had kids and my mom visited all the time and bought tons of stuff for the kids, while her evil stepmother made it seem like visiting the kids was an imposition and her cheapskate ass hardly bought anything.
My mom has indeed been a bitch at times where my wife is concerned (but then I could say the same about my wife). They’re kind of oil and water personalities who are never going to be best buddies or anything. I’m just glad they can be civil and friendly to each other now.
Or it could be simple ignorance, but the wedding party should have been given the wedding colors.
Even I know that you don’t wear white to somebody else’s wedding, and I’m damn near totally ignorant on this shit.
Trump wants to turn America into a barren wasteland.
“It shouldn’t be as hard; sometimes it is,” Zinke said of forest management. “I think our practices over the period have ended up to where we are today. Maybe this is the time to take a horrendous experience like this, and move things along to where we don’t have to do this year after year. It’s unacceptable.”
Zinke was joined on the Paradise tour by Sonny Perdue, the agriculture secretary, who also backs greater intervention in forests. “People say they want pristine forests – well, this doesn’t look pristine to me,” Perdue said, referencing the ashy remains of Paradise. “Pristine is well-managed, groomed forests.”
But environmentalists claimed that the administration, led by Trump, who has blamed “gross mismanagement of the forests”, was using the fire to pave the way for more logging on federal land, with potentially disastrous results.
“Donald Trump and Ryan Zinke are being dangerously dishonest,” said Chad Hanson, a forest ecologist who was involved in a major 2016 study that found that logged areas with lower environmental protections have the most intense, fast-moving fires.
“They are trying to use this tragedy to help logging interests, which is one of the most disgusting things I’ve seen in my career. They are trying to eliminate half a century of environmental protections and turn over forests to the logging industry.”
Well, if an academic ecologist says it, that’s good enough for me. I’m sure they wouldn’t cherry pick the data, or use rhetorical weaseling like assigning their own idiosyncratic definition of “lower environmental protections”. Everybody knows all the animals in the forest just lie down and die if you disturb their habitat in the slightest manner.
“They are trying to use this tragedy to help logging interests, which is one of the most disgusting things I’ve seen in my career. They are trying to eliminate half a century of environmental protections and turn over forests to the logging industry.”
As opposed to ignoring your kowtowing to political interests has exacerbated this incident.
Hey how many of the tree farms run by the paper companies have burned to a crisp in the last 20 years? Anyone have some data?
Funny how the reporting was different back before the fires.
Zactly. https://www.powerlineblog.com/archives/2018/11/why-we-hate-the-media-chapter-12-186.php
And what, pray tell, is the breakdown of who is committing these incidents?

EU aims to be ‘climate neutral’ by 2050

Won’t mean shit unless China and India become part of the EU.
Anyone have a recommendation for a wireless card for my desktop?
I don’t have a “card”. I have a little usb adapter. It works fine. I can’t remember who made it. Netgear, maybe.
“Mark Zuckerberg could have his name REMOVED from San Francisco General hospital after a city official claimed that Facebook does not serve the public interest anymore”
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-6442427/Mark-Zuckerberg-REMOVED-San-Francisco-General-hospital.html
Because he fought in the Civil War?
If I were Zuckerberg, I’d buy the hospital just as a fuck you.
Implies that Facebook every served the public interest.
Lots of people voluntarily use it, so they seem to think it is in their interest. Though we know the progs believe that the public and people are not the same.
Have they run out of Democrat hack politicians to name stuff after?
I’m no fan of Mark Zuckerberg, but what a crock of shit that is.
Zuckerberg will run for President in 2032 as a Republican.
My point being, there was no need to open the case, just plug the little doohickey in a usb port, run the software install, and surf’s up.
For gaming PCIe is a better bus. For general internet stuff USB is fine.
“By some estimates, as many as 15 percent of doctors are suffering from an addiction.”
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-6440019/Former-opioid-addict-turned-Harvard-doctor-hits-faith-based-rehabs.html
Based on what? Although projection would explain why doctors folded like a law chair when the DEA started going after prescriptions.
When you want to enact the new American dream and get rich by lawsuit, you go after the people with money (just like your rob the banks because the money is there) and doctors sure seem to be the ones with lots of money and lots of insurance, so they also, because of fears of said events, tend to fold like cheap cards whenever pressure is applied…
re: his criticism of faith based rehab programs
Dr. Drew (addiction specialist) and Adam Carolla (staunch atheist) have discussed this many times over the years. And Adam’s take has always been that the faith-based stuff seems to work way better than any other approach, and encourages addicts to enter such programs. Being born again and sober getting your shit together is way better than being a junkie.
I’m in AA, and people don’t get that the faith part of it is actually a very minor part. Some people make it out to be bigger than it is. The most important parts of the 12 steps are owning up to your bullshit, taking responsibility for it, and making amends (even if that’s tens of thousands of dollars worth of amends, as it has been in my case). I talk often at meetings about how I don’t blindly chalk everything up to God, because I believe in free will. I work on my sobriety, and every day I stay sober, I deserve credit for it. And my “higher power” are my three young daughters. That’s who I think about anytime I’m close to taking a drink, and instantly my craving vanishes.
tl;dr… this guy is just another self-important harvard douche trying to tell other people how to do things.
I just looked at my usb wifi adapter- it’s a linksys.
It seems to have sadly come to shit like this because of the SJW types and their crusades to destroy reality.

A Southwest Airlines gate agent at John Wayne Airport is accused of being awful in front of a five-year old girl – and on social media – because of her unique name.
The girl’s mother says the agent made fun of the name and even posted a photo of her boarding pass on social media for others to chime in.

Climate change: Last four years are ‘world’s hottest’
Nah, it was warmer back in the 80’s.
::break dances into new century::
::looks around::
::break dances back to the 80s::
So all this talk about an imminent ice age is what? Not cool? I suspect that the AGW warmists will soon take on the ice age apocalyptic predictions as their own and present us with the same massive global collectivist wealth redistribution government idea they have been demanding we allow to solve this problem as well. Is there no problem that globalized collectivism can’t solve anymore, huh? (that was sarcasm for the drunk or slow ones here).
No matter what the climate does, the answer will be the same; energy poverty for the lower classes, wealth and sinecures in fields related to the environment and sustainability for the nomenklatura.
It’s all about the top down decision making man.
“If the trend continues, the WMO says temperatures may rise by 3-5C by 2100”
All the literature would call this ridiculous 3C warming is considered the upper bound.
It’s been like at 0.1 to 0.15 Celsius per decade for a while now, no? I’m actually really concerned about climate change, but mainly because it seems like no one on any side seems to have the slightest interest in addressing it and would rather use it as a wedge issue for other things. Under those circumstances it’s easy to see how a real problem could be allowed to get out of control. But I’m still not seeing why the temperature increase would suddenly spike three fold.
Climate change: Last four years are ‘world’s hottest’
Excepting the 75% of earth’s existence where it was hotter than now, sure.
For gaming PCIe is a better bus. For general internet stuff USB is fine.
Aha. I’m not a gamer, so usb is fast enough for me.
I wasn’t even aware that there was a Murphy Brown reboot.
I was. Knew it would tank. And never bothered….
I feel vindicated.
Full disclosure: I never watched the original item either because I was well aware that even then it was primarily proggie propaganda.
Apparently neither was anyone else.
Let me guess. She dies alone, surrounded by cats?
I was looking at the names who sponsored Reason during their current webathon. I notice the majority use their real names. I remember when it was it was all handles – Episiarch, Heroic Mulatto, Sloopy etc.
Whatever, Tulpa
There’s a certain cynical part of me that’s always suspected the vast majority of names and the progress bar are just a little play act for the benefit of the users. 80% of the Reason operating budget is Koch money, and the other 20% is Koch money that’s been shuffled through a couple proxy organizations first. I don’t know why they even bother making a pretense about it.
I got skeptical last time when I saw some donation magically take them from like halfway there to over the top just in the nick of time.
Just a reminder that proggies don’t have a lock on banning speakers on college campuses. Maybe they are a bit slower in their outrage though.
UW Lacrosse Chancellor may not get a raise because he paid pr0n star Nina Hartley to speak on campus.
Frankly, I’d rather they didn’t spend any money on any speakers, but I don’t think it is outrageous to let someone who has done pr0n talk about pr0n and free speech.
I would totes love her to tell stories about how she educated Ron Jeremy on the art of… erm never mind…
About a third of the ideological disinvitation efforts tracked by FIRE come from the right. The fact that you (and I) don’t hear about them says more about our media bubble than about what is happening on the ground.
To be fair, if you look exclusively at public universities that ostensibly have a first amendment obligation that private schools do not, the tilt is overwhelmingly to the left. A lot of the disinvitations by righties are at private schools, usually religious ones, and usually because of pissed off fundies.
In grad school, I got a lot of value out of our lecture series. It spurs a lot of insights and connections that staying in your lane won’t. Its nothing that can’t be replicated by intentionally reading outside of your niche or field, but that’s a really hard thing to do when you are in graduate school. For example, listening to a systems biology guy talk for an hour about PONV planted a few seeds in my brain that bore a lot of fruit a decade later.
This was a STEM education, but I would expect it to be equally valuable in soft fields too.
Her activism, at least on the first amendment, goes way back. When she visited the Admiral Theatre in Chicago 20+ years ago, in addition to the Polaroids she would take with you, she also was selling some great posters. So I’m the proud owner (if I could only find it) of an autographed Nina Hartley poster, showing her from behind in a thong and heels, signing a giant Bill of Rights. Probably a good thing I can’t find it, because I’m sure some bluenose at the office would take offense.
I liked her in Boogie Nights.
Trial to open for Ohio man accused of murder at white nationalist rally
Two state troopers were killed during the protests when their helicopter crashed.
Included in literally every report on the incident as if it had anything to do with the event rather than typical police incompetence.
Also, this guy should have just offed himself in prison already. The trial was a foregone conclusion.
a Friday night demonstration when hundreds of men carried torches, chanting anti-Semitic slogans.
I seem to recall those were tiki torches. I don’t recall the slogans, though.
“You will not replace us” and “Jews will not replace us.”
I know he’ll be found guilty because “NOTZEEEE!!!!!!”, but I still don’t get how they get First-Degree Murder out of this. IANAL, but he was being swarmed by protesters so there are mountains of reasonable doubt as to his intent; and since premeditation is pretty key to the charge I’d say intent is important. If the guy hadn’t been a “white nationalist” (or whatever) I think you’d be looking at involuntary vehicular manslaughter with a suspended sentence.
looking at involuntary vehicular manslaughter
This is what I thought from the beginning. He is being grossly overcharged, especially considering that (unless I am mistaken) not only was the crowd swarming, there was someone who brandished a rifle at him. The whole situation is fucked for a variety of reason. But that is not first degree murder.
A video showed people hitting his car with bats/clubs, I think before he rammed the crowd (but I could be mistaken on the timing).

The EU estimated that the continent would need €175 billion to €290 billion (about $199 billion to $330 billion) per year. However, the EU believed it would ultimately save money by cutting back on fossil fuel imports, upgrading air quality (thus reducing health care costs) and improving efficiency across he board.
Any day now, Bullwinkle is going to to pull that rabbit out of his hat.
Oh no! People are dying because the deplorables won’t listen to OSHA (on small farms)
(my emphasis)
Yeah, I’m sure less people would die on small farms if OSHA got involved. Mostly because OSHA compliance would drive most of those small farms out of business.
Half of OSHA’s budget comes from fines. Always remember that.
If you control for the accidents caused by the ag workers speaking no English and almost no Spanish either, it’s probably no worse than any physical occupation.
More than 50 guns, Nazi memorabilia found in California home
Is it illegal to own guns and Nazi memorabilia? The search warrant was issues because he left a voicemail racking a a gun, is that really enough probably cause to confiscate this stuff?
Forget it man, it’s California.
Maybe I’m just a naive rube from Indiana, but I don’t think it’s unusual for people to collect guns. They tend to be like guitars, you can never have enough when you are into them. I also don’t think it’s unusual to collect Nazi artifacts. WWII artifacts, especially Nazi ones, are very popular. My uncle had a Luger and a bayonet he brought home from the war. I still have a few bullets from that Luger he gave me.
several pounds of ammunition
Tells me he was a collector, not a shooter. That’s not much ammo at all.
A strange metric to use for ammo.
Yep. I was going through some boxes in the attic looking for something and stumbled across some ammo that I’d completely forgotten about. Probably a couple thousand rounds. It sat there for years as just an afterthought.
Nice surprise though. Better than finding a twenty in your pocket.
What kind of measurement is that?
It kind of tells you it’s not many or else it would be”several thousand rounds of ammo”
I remember one story where some teens got pulled over and there were “Over 500 rounds in the car!”
It was a brick of .22LR
I too missed the sibling thread: Only child.
Shocking, right? I bet you are all just picking your jaws up off the floor right now.
At least that’s what you tell people.
We all know it was a Flowers in the Attic kind of thing.
Actually, my mother loves to tell me about the miscarriages she had before I was conceived and lament the fact/blame me that she would never be able to have any more children after I was born.
So I do have siblings, dead siblings, ghosts of potentiality hovering all around me, making me the worst child my mother ever had since they never had to try to please her as I did, and fail as I always have in her eyes.
At least you got some good Stephen King like fodder out of it.
No idea where I’m going to squeeze that into the intersectional chart.

“Big natural tits” are the three most beautiful words in the English language.
Always Angela White. Always.
Way too big. They might be marginally fun now, but they won’t age.
Lithe, athletic women now and forever.

It’s a car: trade in every two years *at the most*.
And “marginally fun”?
Are you doing it right?
Tits are great. But unpopular opinion: They look best supported and closed. Unless titty-fucking my quasi-gf/ex (not sure–complicated) with double Ds.
Bro got with his now wife in high school. Beautiful girl. Small. Now 35 and two kids under her belt. The hottest that she’s ever been.
I like women who grow into themselves. Age better. I’m a romantic that way, though the longest I’ve been with a gf is 3.5 years, some of that time being very acrimonious. I did have a chef’s knife thrown at me. That was fun.
I’m short and prefer small girls. I’m reminded of the scene in Ray where Charles judges girls’ attractiveness based on their wrists. Ankles, tight stomachs and cute faces are my weaknesses. And brown hair. And wit and conversational ability!
Full disclosure: I do have a petite Korean suit-ress with the worst kissing ability I have every experienced in the history of my life. (She would flick her tongue out, snake-like BEFORE my lips made contact…wtf is that?!) She give me a blowjob in a stairwell last weekend.
^^I probably didn’t need to bring that up but it was a first for me and incredibly weird and oddly erotic.
“She give me a blowjob in a stairwell last weekend”
Good on ya. Keep up the good work.
All tits age. My fiancee has tits as big or bigger than any of these women, and they’re doing quite nicely in her early 50s.
Then again, I’ve dated a broad swath of women with tits from an A- cup to humongous, and liked pretty much all of the breastage.
I admit I am not into the “pro” shots as much as the ones that look like they are just regular women/girls taken with phone cameras.
posted late in the Sibling Thread:
Two older brothers – and that’s it. Age gap is pretty wide 8 and 5 years due to two stillborns so I’m actually child #5.
Because of my dad’s long weekly work schedule – putting in 70 hours a week with a lot of travel – my older brother was a bit of a second dad to me. Or else he was forced by my mom to be taken places. Needless to say I got dragged to a lot of R rated movies – like the Road Warrior – that he wanted to see.
I see my brothers maybe once a year – not close at all to my oldest brother, he hopped off to college when I was 10 and was busy raising a family when he was in medical school.
Older brother and i still text / email each other – quite a bit – and have plans to go on some gold panning adventure next year.

It has been 11 years since my school went thru a football coaching change. I don’t like it.
First time since 1966 we have made a change due to retirement, so that is the only positive.
Since I have been a fan it has been:
Ross – moved to NFL
Lewis – fired good and hard
O’Leary – left for a 1 day gig at Notre Dame
Gailey – fired
Johnson – retired
I dont think I could put up with another Lewis-type hire.
you have been in school for a long time
Its a hard school.
Nepalese lesbian poetry major?
Yes, but it is a BS degree in NL Poetry, as my school doesn’t offer any BA degrees.
Have you ever taken Nepalese Lesbian Calculus? It is tricky.
Harder than chinese arithmetic? (winks knowingly)
I won’t miss the scumbag, knee destroying cut blocks when we play GT.
Never happened.
Seriously, no more injuries than anyone else.
And our defensive line got cut every day in practice with no amount of extra injuries.
Also, name a team that doesn’t cut block. There aren’t any. Sure we cut more, but everyone does it.
The NCAA keeps changing the cut blocking rules, but you know what they don’t change? Cut blocking in the box. Its all about downfield and outside the box blocking, basically taking away the blindside cut block.
D – lineman, nope no change on that, they can be cut at will. Which suggests that the dangerous part is not the straight on cut block but the cut at full running speed from the side.
Officials release video from gender reveal party that ignited a 47,000-acre wildfire
https://edition.cnn.com/2018/11/27/us/arizona-gender-reveal-party-sawmill-wildfire-trnd/index.html
The flames spread to the nearby Coronado National Forest, where they became the Sawmill Fire and burned 46,991 acres owned by the state of Arizona, federal agencies and private landowners. Firefighters from at least 20 agencies fought the fire for about a week, according to CNN affiliate KGUN-TV.
Please tell me the person for which the gender was being revealed wasn’t 12 years old.
Why don’t they just toss him in prison and throw out the key? Same end result.
“Sorry, Junior, no college for you. Or food or clothing.”
Seriously. Why don’t they order him to hand over a Fabrege egg and a Picasso while they’re at it?
So was it a boy or a girl?
Most likely, yes.
Can’t be sure nowadays though.
The Monopolization of America
In one industry after another, big companies have become more dominant over the past 15 years, new data show.
I blame free marked fundamentalism myself
The problem isn’t antitrust. It is regulation that favors big over small and medium sized company.
It’s also due to an economy completely driven by debt and extremely low interest rates.
“Surrendered” my ass, the government prefers it that way.
Certainly there’s nothing about the regulatory state that could possibly account for a bias towards consolidation and large institutions. It’s not like large cap companies are uniquely able to comply with hundreds of thousands of pages of banking, environmental, labor and health care regulations.
But hey, at least we got Christian bakers to bake the cake, and ran that one pizza parlor out of business. And we came so close to forcing nuns to pay for contraception. SUCCESS!!!
College professors: ‘We suck and we don’t want you to be able to tell us we suck’
A University of California, Berkeley professor suggested scrapping end-of-semester student evaluations for hiring, promotion, and tenure decisions after claiming that the grades and evaluations are biased against female instructors and people of color.
“Over the next few weeks, students will get the chance to evaluate their professors and TAs. They’re going to get it wrong,” UC Berkeley history professor Brian DeLaytweeted on Sunday. “They’ll be harder on women and people of color than on white men. Tenured white male faculty, in particular, should help their students understand this.”
Having rated many a professor and discussed such ratings and general opinions about professors among acquaintances while in college, I can safely assert that these people are racist and/or are seeking yet another avenue to avoid scrutiny. And, again, I am amused at how leftists have come full circle to calling non-Caucasians “colored”. At least it is not dehumanizing like “black and brown bodies”.
The undergraduate student body at Berkeley is a seething cauldron of white supremacy and patriarchy. This is indisputable.
Berkeley has white male professors? Why? Why would they want them and why would anyone like that want to work there?
It’d be like me, with my terrible shellfish allergy, working at Joe’s Crab Shack.
But so much of your work DOES involve crabs, I thought.
Only at a literary distance…
I can only imagine the kind of evaluation the one female Chinese math TA I had in college got. She could barely speak English and whispered everything while trying to teach us in a secondary class.
Fixed.
The only negative evaluations I’ve given were for white men. Both were assholes. One routinely cancelled class and refused to email notices. The other was a surly, combative dick.
My favorite professor at Memphis State was a hard ass from Nigeria. Before he handed out the rating sheets he would write “arrogant” on the board and tell us that it irritated him when so many people misspelled that word on the reviews.
I’m sure he got a lot of negative reviews because his tests were hard as hell and he wasn’t shy about telling us how easy American schools were. If you didn’t mind his abrasive behavior he was a great teacher. New his stuff and made you learn it.
That’s awesome, I’ll bet people still misspelled it though.
You went to Memphis State? What years? My uncle taught there for a few years around 1988-93 or so (I think?)
Probably the best professor I ever had was like that. He’d start class early and finish class late. The tests were hard, but if you paid attention you could do well.
“In academia, censorship and conformity have become the norm
A new academic journal, titled The Journal of Controversial Ideas, launching in the new year, will be peer-reviewed and offer a diverse range of viewpoints, calling upon liberals, conservatives, as well as those who are religious and secular, to submit their work. Most notably, it will allow academics to publish under pseudonyms.
Much of the response to this journal has been criticism alleging that only academics with hateful ideas would require the option to publish under a pseudonym. In truth, facts today are deemed controversial if they deviate from accepted narratives, and professors must self-censor out of fear of being condemned and losing their jobs.
Based on conversations I’ve had with colleagues still working in academia and from what I can tell about recent cases of censorship, the antagonism is primarily from left-leaning colleagues attacking other liberals. The problem has been increasing and was the reason I chose to leave the field of sex research.”

Canada: mother and baby killed by grizzly bear in Yukon
https://www.theguardian.com/world/2018/nov/28/canada-mother-baby-killed-by-grizzly-bear-yukon
while the story is sad and all, I found something intresting
Théorêt, a grade six French immersion teacher at Whitehorse elementary school, was on maternity leave with her child. She and partner Gjermund Roesholt had planned to spend some of those months on their trap line – a large parcel of land leased from the government to trap animals for fur.
Roesholt had gone out to check the couple’s traps on Monday afternoon, but on his way back, he was charged by the bear, 100m from the couple’s cabin.
Canadian teachers still go trapping for fur? Weird
What did the bear charge him with? Trespassing? Trapping violation?
Worse. An effective 30% interest rate on a 2 week pay-day loan 🙁
He shot and killed the bear, but when he reached the cabin he found that it had already killed his partner and their daughter.
“Upon returning to the cabin, he found the bodies of his wife and child just outside the cabin,” the coroner’s report said. It is believed the pair had been out for a walk – either late morning or early afternoon– when they were attacked by the same bear.
I mean that is kinda fucked up
No way. He timed that shit perfectly. He got the max newlywed sex out of his marriage. He got the profound joy of having a child.
Now he doesn’t have to deal with the wife becoming a shrew or his kid growing up to be a jerk teen ager.
He also gets the Costanza effect. A great story that makes any new women he meets think he’s a great guy who needs their “consoling” love. Sure it might be weird making love to these future women on the bear skin rug, but I’m sure you get over that.
sometimes i forget where i am posting
Sure it might be weird making love to these future women on the bear skin rug, but I’m sure you get over that.
I too wondered if he taxidermied the bear.
Fuck that. He taxidermied his wife.
Now that’s a RealDoll
I mean that is kinda fucked up
I know: what is any decent Canadian doing with a gun? Does PM Zoolander know about this? I call bullshit on the entire when-seconds-count-Dudley-Doright-is-only-hours-away thing.

24 is kinda of tail end of millennials right?
Yes
Depends who you ask. Various different demographers have defined “Millennial” as early as 1977 and as late as 2004.
Via wiki:
“Demographers William Straus and Neil Howe who are widely credited with coining the term, define millennials as born between 1982–2004.”
1977?? Christ, that makes me almost a Millennial – I was born a mere three weeks before 1976 ended. I will NOT stand for this.
I need this put into Units of Evan
Breaking out the electron microscope for that navel gazing, huh

There’s 691,000 people in her district, 100,000 of which voted for her.
ZOMG SHE COOKS ORDINARY MEALS IN AN INEXPENSIVE PRESSURE COOKER – SHE’S EXACTLY LIKE US!!1!
While hoofing it in pricey footwear. But she donated an old pair of tennies she wore a couple times pretending to be down and out, so all is forgiven.
This is why I despise leftists—the pretense and the inanity.
mac and cheese in an instant pot… why? the six minutes in boiling water is too long?
Wife just came home from an office party and she’s trashed. Does it make me gay that I’d rather read glibs than tap that?
Yes, yes it does
agreed – Oh so very gay.
How about if I just wait until she’s passed out?
Pics or it didn’t happen.

On that note, my wife is dragging me out shopping.
Congrats to Banjos for being young enough to have a five year old. My marriage just turned 28 today.
*Reaches for walking cane.
don’t listen to them. you are a gentleman who requires affirmative consent.
Liberace level gay, yep. I don’t care to go into details, but my wife has been much more adventurous in the very few times she’s been really drunk during the course of our marriage.
We’re talking barely standing trashed. She’s a great wife and a, uh, good mother. I just can’t. She crashed face first on the bed and fell asleep within a minute. Sorry, but no.
OK, that’s a bit beyond what my wife has been.
Naw, passed out drunk is time to give it a pass. Unless waking her up by fucking her is one of your fantasies, then go for it.
Now, if you were browsing dick pics and gay ass-sex when she came home, you might be a little bit gay-ish.
He’s not gay, he just likes sucking dick ok!
I tell you, when a homosexual is sucking your cock, a lot of strange thoughts go through your head: How the hell did this happen? Where did this fairy ever get the idea that I was gay?
“…and where did he get those FANTASTIC boots?” LOL love that one.
You’ve been married for more than a year right?
Yup, not gay for choosing Glibs over your wife. She’s your wife, lord knows she’ll be there tomorrow and the day after that and the day after that.
On the other hand, any Glibs that might drop by to visit would be totes gay if they made the same choice you did.

Ikumen: How Japan’s ‘hunky dads’ are changing parenting
Gosh, if they don’t get the “behavioural change” they wanted, perhaps it’s time for sterner measures.
+1 reeducation camp
JFC. What kind of narcissist looks at Japanese men, sees addition time pressures being put on them, and think “That’s bad for women.”
Nice timing. Spent my whole night being an Ikumen and don’t have much to show for it.
Not to be confused with 草食(系)男子!
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Herbivore_men
(Anybody else having trouble with the Monocle script today? It’s busted here, but it’s my work PC no idea what they might have done to my proxy.)
Surveys of single Japanese men conducted in 2010 found that 61% of men in their 20s and 70% of men in their 30s considered themselves to be herbivores.
Good lord.
As always, Japan is 10 years ahead and 20% more extreme than US culture.
People who obsessively worry about “overpopulation” (a bullshit concept by itself) need only look at the demographics of the most developed countries and put their minds at ease.
Also, the only reason the ruling class gives a shit about low birth rates is because it pulls the rug out from under their pyramid scheme social programs that much faster.
+1 on the Ponzi scheme problem.
I’m worried about low birth rates for other reasons. But my point was that these are the same trends that we see in the US WRT adult male time-use and responsibility pressures. And its causing a mental-health / suicide epidemic.
>>swordfight over breakfast
ewww
So is Japan pushing for more stay-at-home father/work-at-office mother combinations, or are they expecting their men to do everything? People can divide their household labor in whatever way works best for them, but in general it ought to be a roughly equal division of labor = (home work + office work)/2.
Question: one of the guys I know from my old punk rock party days is about to lose his house to foreclosure. So he started a GoFundMe campaign to raise the $5k they need to stop his house from being repo’d. They – his wife and him – both have new jobs and, supposedly, the income to keep the home for the future; but still need the bucket of cash to stop the foreclosure.
He and I were never that close, more like sometime drinking buddies. Not sure if I want to help out or not. Seems like they could work _something_ out with the bank.
As long as you’re cool with never seeing the money again, go ahead.
Also keep in mind that friends who take money from you quite often never talk to you again.
And sometimes they never stop asking for money until you stop talking to them.
Yeah, once I got a sobbing call from a gal pal who wanted $1k to save her house from foreclosure. Her boyfriend decided to take his unemployment checks and spend the $$ at the bar. I didn’t give her the money since I thought it was throwing good money after bad.
Maybe if she had put out a few times 😉
If it’s a loan to support a house, maybe you can record it formally as a mortgage with the county ?
Of course, you’d be in second or maybe even third position to collect; if the first mortgage was foreclosed again later, there wouldn’t be any guarantee that the property would sell at a price that would leave your mortgage anything to recover.
My own view is don’t help: they’ve already proven they don’t handle money well. I tend to be pretty rude about money: if I help, I become dictator; accordingly, no one wants my money. My own sister is on the verge of losing her house, but not a peep out of her to me directly about it.
If they need $5k, given their area of town, that’s a lot of money to owe & probably represents at least 10 months worth of missed payments /late payments, etc. Hence the need for the gofundme . . . but what I am saying is this road sign for foreclosure didn’t get here overnight.
We’re talking barely standing trashed. She’s a great wife and a, uh, good mother. I just can’t. She crashed face first on the bed and fell asleep within a minute. Sorry, but no.
Good man. Did you pull the comforter over her before you tip-toed out?
Yup. And he didn’t cry too loud when he ended up jacking off in the shower. Perfect gentleman.
Are you telling Straff to give her a Dutch Oven?
Remember when websites had a “printer friendly” version of their content pages?
What do you suppose happened to that?
I’m looking at a Guardian article which I would kind of like to print and read later, but I don’t want all the crap and photos. Too bad, I guess.
Fuck print versions of web sites you Luddite!
Back in my way past days, we had a web site that supported embroiders and screen printers. They always wanted to print out certain pages of the catalog and would complain about it not looking right. Of course, they all had different printers and probably had tweaked a few margin settings or something. Trying to explain to our client who owned the catalog site that there was nothing we could really do was a constant pain in my ass.
See if your browser has a “Reader view” (built-in on Safari, I’ve seen plugins for Chrome et al.) and print that.

Watching a History Channel show on ancient Roman marine concrete.
Goddamn, I’m a frickin’ nerd.
I used to love the History Channel, lately it’s all antiquing and aliens, but that sounds interesting.
I might be a nerd.
I just finished Dan Carlin’s Death Throes of the Republic about the Roman politics and civil wars that led to Julius Ceasar’s dictatorship.
About 13 hours long, but riveting the whole way through.
“…about the Roman politics and civil wars that led to Julius Caesar’s dictatorship.”
Damn, that sounds good. Yup, nerd. This show is about the technology they had to build man-made harbors.
And yeah, I hate that aliens shit.
It was extremely good. Sometimes I would get home and sit in the car until it came to a natural stopping point.
My wife would roll her eyes when I came in.
I’m assuming you stopped the engine.

You can get it as an e-book for about $2. I have it on my Kindle but haven’t read it in several years.
I’ll have to check out Dan Carlin.
Thx, Spartacus

“Rantz: King County treats e-cigs as more dangerous than heroin
Under threat of federal intervention, manufacturer Juul vowed to stop selling most flavors for e-cigs. It will end social-media advertisements of the product, too. FDA and public health officials argued it leads to higher numbers of teens using the product.
But one King County public official wants an outright ban, all while the county pushes ahead with heroin injection sites. Yes, that mango flavored e-juice warrants an outright ban, but heroin addicts should be given a space to shoot up. What wonderful priorities, right?
The way the county approaches their concerns about vaping, makes it seem like they consider e-cigs more dangerous than heroin. Perhaps they should rethink their public approach since it’s safe to assume they’d freely admit heroin is more dangerous.
Relying on “anecdotal” evidence of a rise in vape use by King County teens, Lisa Davidson, who manages substance use prevention of Seattle Public Schools, recently told KUOW that “new, cooler, sleeker products” is getting teens to vape, after some years of decline.”

25 cents and 100% effective.
Execution methods are always selected by the state to further state goals. Currently, the goal is to reassure the state that the state is humane and clinical, not emotional and out for blood. Thus, not blood and no appearance of suffering is permitted. And because real life is trying to imitate 2000AD, the state has chosen a method with no blood, and paralyzes a person in extreme pain so that it doesn’t look like they are suffering.
Its not like we don’t know how to painlessly kill a 200 lb mammal. Every slaughterhouse in the country does it. Anyone with a car and a garage can do it. The state has no interest in actually living up to their boasts of humanity and clinicality like a slaughterhouse or suicidal person does.
clinicality like a slaughterhouse or suicidal person does
I was married to a Trauma ICU nurse for a couple of decades. Lots of the people who shoot themselves apparently don’t know much about anatomy, guns, or geometry: an amazing fraction just manage to disfigure or blind themselves; lots of dumbasses put a pistol to the “temple” and run the slug through the eye and sinuses; shots under the jaw often blow through the palates, sinuses, and erase a bit of the memory chamber while failing to achieve the goal.
ugh….how’d that get there !?
Because the tariffs are like shooting ourselves in the face?
Agreed. But if we’re going to use lethal injection, Chinese fentanyl seems quite effective.
Fucking printer.
Printers are evil.

Well we put put men on the moon and launched a satellites into deep space in the 70s using the same formulae, so their climate science then about global cooling must have been right as well.

A great look at why credentialism harms us all:
“Today a well-entrenched class of professional thinkers largely understands expertise as the product of formal education and relationships to elite universities: You become an expert, or start to, by acquiring academic credentials. Extra points for grad school, and more points still for being a professor like Paul Krugman or Jonathan Gruber. Like the administrative class in Vichy France, or the scholar-officials of imperial China, you’re smart if you go to school a lot and excel on your exams, so you get to be in charge of some piece of the political or cultural mechanism.
But is it working? Are our credentialing instruments producing people who are capable of practical action? To borrow a question from firefighters, can our credential-holders put the wet stuff on the red stuff?“
