Monday Afternoon Links

Happy Monday everyone. I hope everyone is working hard or hardly working! Whatever you can get away with this (American) Holiday weekend. I’m snowed-under with meetings as everyone frantically tries to clear their desk for a long and restful weekend.

If Joe Biden runs in 2020, I’m raising funds to just run 1 minute ads of shot after shot after shot of “bad touch” pictures with women looking uncomfortable.

Vox 2018 (or is it 2016?) If only the rules were different, the Democrat would have won! (Florida edition). “If we only assume this one variable changed…” in a complex system is junk.

Trump administration causing people to drink themselves to death!! You think I’m exaggerating, but… “The Trump Administration’s tax cut last year included an 18 percent break for in the federal tax on beer, wine and liquor”

Organized group causes terror scare in UK! Runners using white flour to mark route inspire police reaction.

NYT angry uncle-bot does not include a libertarian option. I’m triggered! Luckily, my only uncle with political opinions will be elsewhere.

It takes a real man to wear an animal print shirt and a different print tie! This is also in the running for highest energy song, lowest energy video. Turn the sound off for 20 seconds and try to figure out what the tune is… not what I would guess.

If Joe Biden runs in 2020, I’m raising funds to just run 1 minute ads of shot after shot after shot of “bad touch” pictures with women looking uncomfortable.

    That would be fantastic.

    1. Brochettaward

Why limit it to just women?

    2. Chafed

      That’s a cause I’ll gladly contribute too.

      1. hayeksplosives

Holy cow. I’ve never seen the video, just 3 pics or so.

There is something wrong with that guy…

  2. ruodberht

The great thing about counterfactuals is that you can change just one variable and nothing else at all will change.

  3. Rebel Scum

Florida’s Bill Nelson would have likely beat Rick Scott if ex-felons had been able to vote

Sounds like a tacit admission that Democrats have commonality with criminals.

  4. Gadfly

“The Trump Administration’s tax cut last year included an 18 percent break for in the federal tax on beer, wine and liquor”

The fact that the Rs did not run on this only confirms their title of “Stupid Party”. “We made beer less expensive” is a winning slogan if I’ve ever heard one.

  5. Juvenile Bluster

I’m working my ass off but hiding and coming here as a refuge. Which shows how bad off I really am mentally right now.

Next on the list of one-time civil rights organizations that have thrown off the mask, the anti-Defamation League cozies up to Al Sharpton, the man who stoked the Crown Heights riots and got two men killed (and never apologized for it).

    1. Chafed

That is infuriating. Looks like most commenters feel the same.

    2. Count Potato

“The hypocrisy of having Sharpton on @Morning_Joe to talk about hatred. Have we forgotten about Crown Hights? Because the family of Yankel Rosenbaum who was murdered after he came into town to incite violence sure hasn’t.”

      Good video.

The alcohol tax cut is old news, several people (who probably never drank it to begin with) promised to never drink Sam Adams beer again after Jim Koch (what is it with that last name in politics and beer?) thanked Trump for cutting taxes on his business.

    1. Certified Public Asshat

I feel like a basic-bro, but I do love the SA Octoberfest. And Winter Lager too.

      1. I don’t hate SA. I’ve had a few stinkers from them, but more often than not, I enjoy their beer.

        1. Certified Public Asshat

I had a fall variety pack from them once that had “Bonfire Blonde” in it. That was the worst beer I have ever had. It tasted like I was drinking ash.

        2. Brett L

Whatever hops they have a soapy aftertaste to me.

          1. Certified Public Asshat

Weird, SA doesn’t taste soapy to me but Sierra Nevada tastes like dish water.

          2. Nephilium

For both of you, is this straight from the bottle, or after being poured into a glass?

And for the soap flavor, dirty, soapy, lemon, or something else?

          3. Brett L

For me, I mostly notice it on draft, but I’ve now tried it 4 or 5 different places. It is soap flavored, not textured.

          4. Certified Public Asshat

And of course the opposite of Brett, Sierra out of the bottle tastes like dish soap.

          5. Nephilium

Well, CPA, the first thing I’d like to point out (that most people don’t realize) is that Sierra Nevada Pale Ale is a different beer on tap and in bottles. Is it all of the Sierra Nevada beers, or just the Pale Ale? And do you check the freshness date? Sierra Nevada Pale uses exclusively Cascade Hops, which gives a pine, citrus, and floral notes. If the beer is fresh, and you don’t like it, stay away from beers that are predominantly hoped with Cascade (or go try a Single Hop beer using Cascade to see if that’s it).

Brett L, assuming the lines were properly cleaned, and the glassware (the most common cause of soap taste), there shouldn’t be anything causing that taste. I’m also operating under the assumption that you’re referring to the Boston Lager and not all of Sam Adam’s beers. But it’s made with two noble hops: Hallertau Mittelfreuh and Tettang Tettnager, both of which will impart mild floral and spice notes, with a touch of earthy notes.

      2. I picked up this little fella last week.

Enjoyed a Fezziwig and their chocolate bock over the weekend. Looking forward to trying the holiday porter, and I know I enjoy the winter lager.

        1. Certified Public Asshat

That looks like a decent mix. Their winter box used to have Cherry Wheat in it. Cherry wheat was also a terrible beer that should never be made again.

          1. That sounds just terrible. I’ve heard they have a cherry chocolate bock that they used to make? I’m kind of intrigued, but if it just tastes like muddy cough syrup…

          2. Nephilium

That Cherry wheat used to be a summer seasonal, and it was still bad, and Jim should feel bad for trying to sell it.

        2. Nephilium

They used to release the chocolate bock in pretty painted 750 mL bombers. And there have been countless cries for them to release the Fezziwig as a stand alone seasonal instead of putting it in the mix pack. While I enjoy the Sam Adam’s mix packs for the most part, I wish they would stop putting the Boston Lager in there.

          1. I agree re the Boston Lager. Look, if I wanted your flagship beer, I’d buy it. I’m buying a seasonal pack for the odd and tasty … seasonal flavors. I still have a bottle or two of their Boston lager in the fridge from the last time I bought a SA variety pack.

The Fezziwig was pretty fine, indeed. It’s a shame there’s only two in the box. Mr. Riven may or may not get that second one…

          2. Nephilium

I remember one of their seasonal packs (I think it was a summer one a couple years back) had both the Boston Lager, and the Sam Adams Light. Look, those are available all the time,

In fairness, Sierra Nevada does the same thing with the Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, Sweetwater does the same with their 420 Extra Pale Ale, Stone does it with their IPA, and New Belgium usually does it with their Fat Tire.

      3. Don Escaped Texas

NewWife buys every ounce of Winter Lager she can find for me; I’m a case ahead for now, but it will run out probably before winter itself does.

        1. I’ve been known to buy a six pack or two of those this time of year. Fine drinking, imo.

        2. Certified Public Asshat

Ok, I am no longer ashamed then to like Sam Adams. I also like Boston Lager and Summer Ale.

Whatever the seasonal spring beer is (Cold Snap?) I will pass on. Too sweet.

          1. The Last American Hero

I like good beer. I don’t care who makes it. If some macrobrew house comes up with great ale or lager, I’ll drink it. SA has a few winners, and some acceptable ones as well. They also don’t get into a hops arms race like some of my local micro places. Good beer doesn’t taste like grass clippings.

          2. Nephilium

No. Sam Adam’s tried to get into the hop race. They did not do to well with that series. And here you go, a solid beer from a macro.

There are so few large corporations that are not openly hostile to the deplorables.

      1. I’d really like to know the mechanism by which these leftists infiltrate and alter the companies’ cultures like this. It seems to happen without exception once a company reaches a certain size.

In short, how does HR get so out of control?

In short, how does HR get so out of control?

Step 1. Create laws that can utterly destroy a company no matter what they do.
Step 2. Create additional laws that can immunize a company against the wishes of its shareholders
Step 3. Create a caste well versed in the result-driven demands first set of laws.
          Step 4. Profit.

This is where Pournelle’s Iron Law of Bureaucracy

Pournelle’s Iron Law of Bureaucracy states that in any bureaucratic organization there will be two kinds of people”:

First, there will be those who are devoted to the goals of the organization. Examples are dedicated classroom teachers in an educational bureaucracy, many of the engineers and launch technicians and scientists at NASA, even some agricultural scientists and advisors in the former Soviet Union collective farming administration.

Secondly, there will be those dedicated to the organization itself. Examples are many of the administrators in the education system, many professors of education, many teachers union officials, much of the NASA headquarters staff, etc.

The Iron Law states that in every case the second group will gain and keep control of the organization. It will write the rules, and control promotions within the organization.

    1. RAHeinlein

Great – now they’ll probably mandate multiple elevator inspections per year at my condo building.

      1. grrizzly

Elevators aren’t cheap. If you can, don’t buy a condo in a building that has them.

        1. Bobarian LMD

Make sure you don’t buy a condo on the 79th floor..?

          1. Count Potato

            That would be some walk.

    2. Frequently when I read articles, my biggest questions go unanswered and I wonder at the lack of curiosity of the reporter (or worry that I’m just dense and miss a lot). In this case, how did the elevator stop safely, rather than crash at the bottom of the shaft (not a euphemism)?

      1. Chafed

I was wondering the same thing.

        1. Brett L

They all have emergency braking cables. They aren’t supposed to take 84 floors to kick in. Also, most have a bigass spring at the bottom that turns a certain death into a probable one.

          1. slumbrew

I thought they also had friction brakes – I assume that’s what the clacking sound they described was. But, yes, that took an awfully long time to stop.

          2. MikeS

They aren’t supposed to take 84 floors to kick in

This was the big question I had after reading it. That and what exactly was the clacking noise.

      2. kinnath

A city official told the Tribune the elevator was last inspected in July, and that a “hoist” rope connected to the car failed shortly after midnight.

“That rope is one of several that are connected to the elevator, and, even with this one failing, there’s a redundancy in place,” City Buildings Department spokesman Gregg Cunningham told the paper. “Specifics of how it failed, and what type of failure, is still under investigation.”

These systems have redundant cables and brakes. My guess is that they have to brake slowly when a car starts to drop because 1) you don’t want to hurt the people inside as the car stops suddenly but the people inside don’t and 2) you don’t want to snap the redundant lines as the momentum of the falling car gets applied to the back up line.

    1. PBRstreetgang

I’ve seen the “Kemp stole Georgia” thing several times in the last few days, so I did some digging to compare Georgia in 2014 (the most recent mid term) to 2018.
In 2014, Georgia had 7.63 Age eligible votes/ 5.191 M registered voters and turnout of 2.567 M (something like 50% of reg voters).
In 2018, Georgia had 7.9M age eligible voters, 6.9 M registered voters and turnout of 3.9 M voters (nearly 60% of reg voters).

If that is voter suppression, it isn’t working very well.

CHIPOTLE FIRED MANAGER AFTER ADMITTED DINE-AND-DASHER CALLED HER RACIST FOR REQUESTING PROOF HE’LL PAY

The maker of a viral video alleging racism by Chipotle bragged on Twitter about dining and dashing at restaurants.

Masud Ali objected to Chipotle employees wanting proof that he would pay after the employees said he had previously made off without paying.

Chipotle fired its manager despite knowing about the subject’s Twitter admissions and without reviewing Ali’s history of theft.

Bernstein: Media Should Edit President Trump’s Press Conferences Before Airing

“We need to start thinking of a different way to cover his press conferences and briefings,” Bernstein said on CNN’s “Reliable Sources” on Sunday.

“I don’t think we should be taking them live all the time and just pasting them up on the air because they’re basically propagandist exercises because they are overwhelmed by his dishonesty and lying. … Maybe we should be there, edit, decide as reporters what is news, and after the press conference or briefing is over then go with that story with clips rather than treating the briefing or press conference as a campaign event, which they really are,” he said…

Bernstein said news sites could still post the complete unedited version of the press conference or briefing, but should simply stop giving Trump “free” airtime.

“But we need to start editing. We need to say, ‘Here’s the story,’ not just give him a microphone when we know that his methodology is to engage and manipulate us on the basis of lying, propaganda and agitprop,” Bernstein said.

So now they think editing* video is ok? Anyway, as if people needed another reason to think the msm is dishonest. . .

*Of course, all video is “edited”. What matters is whether or not context is maintained or altered.

“A SEX-MAD firm has become the UK’s first to offer its employees four days off a year to have orgasms – in a pioneering bid to make them more productive.

During these “self-love days” LELO encourages its staff to “fulfil themselves sexually and have plenty of orgasms” with or without a partner.

LELO, an intimacy brand, is also encouraging other firms to follow suit and says the move would add more than £90 billion a year to the UK economy if it was widely adopted.

This came after a survey discovered that 78% Brits said they felt happier and less stressed after having an orgasm and almost two thirds said they were more productive at work the next day.

More orgasms could contribute to boosting Brits’ happiness by 10% to 20% – allowing them to produce the same output in four days instead of five.

A 10% rise would translate to an increase in output of £129.13 per week, per person.

If every one of the 32.4 million people working in the UK increased their productivity by 10% this could add £3.5 billion a week to productive output.”

At that point, you have to decide. Do you want to let an employee get away with blatantly lying? Or do you want to run the risk of writing up a woman for faking an orgasm? Think what a shitstorm that would cause at Jezebel.

“She’s one of thousands of women across the country, judging by Craigslist and other sites, who identify as straight — explicitly mentioning boyfriends, husbands, or dating dudes in personal ads — but are also looking online for casual, lesbian sex. It’s more than experimenting with your college suitemate, and it’s not about turning on bros at the bar. These hetero flexible women say they want long-term romantic relationships with men but are consistently drawn to women purely for sex, whether a girlfriends-with-benefits scenario or a Sapphic sidepiece hidden from their boyfriend or husband.

“It’s a huge phenomenon,” says Chelsea Reynolds, who researches gender and sexuality in mass media as a doctoral student at the University of Minnesota School of Journalism and Communication. In a pilot study, she analyzed (or “expertly lurked,” as she calls it) the Women Seeking Women section of Craigslist in 10 U.S. cities, including San Francisco; Chicago; Boston; Louisville, Kentucky; and Lubbock, Texas. Over a three-day period, she analyzed more than 400 such ads. Based on that data, she estimates that, over the course of a year, there are hundreds of thousands of ads posted online from women who “self-identify as straight, who want relationships with guys, but also enjoy a woman’s body and affection here and there.”

When straight girls shop on the Web for gay sex, Reynolds found that they maintain their “stereotypically heterosexual” (read: basic bitch) identities. They reference the guys in their lives, most of whom are in the dark. “My husband will not know or join,” clarifies a 30-year-old from Austin looking for “the touch of a woman” on Craigslist. Many ads toss out invites for girly activities like mani-pedis and brunch. “I want to hang out and go shopping and be friends outside of sex,” explains a 24-year-old woman from Evanston, Illinois, in her Craigslist callout.”

This country desperately needs more immigration, for economic productivity, cultural inspiration, and sheer work ethic.

    1. Just Say’n

Empty platitudes is not a political position. The essence of the virtue signal

The US already takes in the largest amount of immigrants than any country in the world (and it’s not even close). Nothing has changed with regards to immigration since Trump’s election. So, I’m not sure what the demand is here. That we should make green cards more readily acceptable? That would be a fair point, if that was specifically said.

As it stands this is just as mindless of a statement as saying that the US should control its borders, which is also an empty statement with no specifics.

This is the essence of the “virtue signal”

      1. tarran

Take a moment and think about what you are saying.

There exist people want to do business with would-be immigrants. There are would-be immigrants want to come here to work hard and make their lives better.

When the mafia prevents those people from doing business with each other, we are left poorer than if they were allowed to do business with each other.

        It’s not virtue signalling.

        It’s basic economics.

        1. Just Say’n

I’m not knocking the concept of immigration. I’m knocking empty political statements that mean nothing. What specifically has changed with regards to immigration in the US?

          1. Just Say’n

I’m even fine with the concept of “open borders” if there was actually a real definition for such a position. But, alas, “open borders” is another catch phrase that means literally nothing.

          2. tarran

The mafia was turning a blind eye to some people breaking their stated rules and then when the new capo took over he told his crews to stop letting things slide.

So, yes, the law is much the same. But as Christians trying to flee religious pogroms from Syria and Iraq can attest, the reality is that the doorway that was sort of open twenty years ago is getting harder and harder to get through.

          3. Just Say’n

“The mafia was turning a blind eye to some people breaking their stated rules and then when the new capo took over he told his crews to stop letting things slide.”

If this analogy is with reference to illegal immigration, I don’t believe the last president was “letting it slide” so much.

“But as Christians trying to flee religious pogroms from Syria and Iraq can attest, the reality is that the doorway that was sort of open twenty years ago is getting harder and harder to get through.”

I disagreed with the ‘Muslim ban’ and thought that it disqualified Trump from the presidency. And I generally oppose refugee restrictions, but you might be surprised to find out that it was actually tough during the last administration to get refugee status here too.

            https://www.newsweek.com/us-bars-christian-not-muslim-refugees-syria-497494

          4. Just Say’n

You have me confused if you think that I am an immigration restrictionist. I just don’t find empty platitudes to be anything more than stupid

          5. tarran

OK. Maybe I should have said that gradually, the last four capos stopped letting things slide.

            My main point stands though.

          6. Just Say’n

            I don’t buy the argument.

There is a good reason why we have people talking about illegal immigration only, when discussing immigration, but never discuss making green cards more easily accessible. And it all comes down to the need for business to have cheap labor.

Which is fine, but the fact that domestic labor cannot accept wages below the minimum wage does not mean that they are “less productive”. It means that a bunch of people who don’t believe in the minimum wage and believe that it impedes economic growth are too afraid to say that and would rather talk about the beauty of illegal immigration.

        2. RAHeinlein

Cultural inspiration and sheer work ethic are virtue signalling.

          1. tarran

Well, as someone who came from a totalitarian country as a child and fell in love with America, I can attest that it’s true when people say immigrants bring their fucked up attitudes to the U.S. and are incapable of assimilating.

“I can attest that it’s true when people say immigrants bring their fucked up attitudes to the U.S. and are incapable of assimilating”

As the child of immigrants, I largely disagree with this. By the second or third generation most of their descendants are fully assimilated.

But, none of that means that I pay any mind to empty gestures of “I (heart) immigrants” or some other virtue signal

          6. tarran

            Check your sarcasm detector. 😉

          7. grrizzly

It’s wrong to claim that no immigrants assimilate. It’s just as wrong to claim that no immigrants bring their attitudes to the U.S. Also, there are many parts of the American culture that are not worth assimilating to. For example, everything related to the identity politics, white guilt, etc. And immigrants absorb this crap since it’s the easily accessible part of the local culture.

          8. tarran

Absolutely. Some people come to be remade in the image of America, others come to remake America in the image of the old world, and still others just do their own thing without any feeling one way or the other. Makes things complicated.

        3. wdalasio

What you’re saying and what Tucker is saying are basically true. But, they’re also incomplete. While immigration, on net, is beneficial, there are downsides. And those downsides tend to be experienced by people other than the people advocating for dismissing immigration law. You’re kidding yourself if you don’t think immigrants put pressure on domestic wages. Or that largely poor immigrants are somehow or another exempt from the social problems that are so common among poor people. (For the record, I’m still generally for immigration liberalization because those downsides are more than offset by benefits). And it’s been the indifference of the dons that you reference below to legitimate concerns (border security, assimilation) that has given rise to the “get tough on immigration” attitude.

“AirBNB Goes Anti-Semitic, Targets Jewish Businesses In Judea, Samaria

On Monday, AirBNB, the home-rental company that is often used by tourists to rent apartments in locations around the globe, announced that it would not allow Jewish settlements to be listed in Judea and Samaria. AirBNB stated:

We concluded that we should remove listings in Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank that are at the core of the dispute between Israelis and Palestinians.

This is the sheerest form of corporate anti-Semitism in recent memory. Not only did AirBNB specifically target “Israeli settlements,” according to Professor Eugene Kontorovich of George Mason Law, they’ve announced that they will only disallow listings in Israeli settlements when those listings are owned by Jews. In other words, if a Jew owns an apartment in East Jerusalem, that won’t be allowed for listing; if an Arab owns an apartment in the same neighborhood, it’s fine for listing.

This is absurd. As Dr. Michael Oren points out, AirBNB lists apartments in Turkish-occupied Cyprus, the Moroccan-occupied Sahara, Chinese-occupied Tibet and Russian-occupied Crimea. Not only that, but AirBNB allows listings in a wide variety of countries without any democratic rights and with wildly discriminatory policies.”

Long winded piece on Adam McKay and how sure he is he got it all right with Vice, the Dick Cheney biopic:

“In the end, he makes me sad. He almost makes me tear up,” McKay says, actually wiping back a tear from behind his glasses. “I see a guy who gave it all away. And his story is kind of America’s story. I feel the same way about our country now. Cheney had it. America had it. Like we were rolling into the ’70s, and poverty was at an all-time low. Income inequality was like at an all-time low. I went to Temple University, a city school. I owed $3,800 in student debt when I left. The country was working, and unions were strong. You just feel we gave it away.”

The story sounds pretty bland. An exaggerated take on the narrative the left pushed for 8 years that Bush was the puppet wielded by Cheney to ruin the country. This lone paragraph, though, was a gem. Yes, Adam – everything was ROLLING in the ’70’s! America was at its peak…until people foolishly decided to vote against their own interests. “We were all poor.”

    3. Scruffy Nerfherder

McKay is a dope, but I think the truth of Bush being led around the nose by Cheney and Rumsfeld is fairly accurate. GWB never met a business he couldn’t fuck up. He was a sucker for compassionate conservatism, aka Democrat economic policies. My impression of him is one of someone who just couldn’t hold his own in a room full of experienced neocons with dreams of making up for Vietnam.

Fuck em all. They deserve every last bit of ridicule and hatred they get.

      1. No stupider than the following president, who got a fawning picture about his first date.

        1. Scruffy Nerfherder

Damning Bush is not praising Obama.

    4. straffinrun

      Fine. Let’s reappoint Volker.

      1. Scruffy Nerfherder

I like Volcker, but I think he has too much invested in the myth of good government.

  34. Sean

I logged into my TD bank account today and they “lost” all my bill pays and scheduled transfers. ?

    1. Do you still have your money?

      1. Sean

        Yup.

  35. Brochettaward

“Having some bigger companies that actually care about the quality of the content feels like something that’s very valuable,” he said.

    Owner of Buzzfeed.

    1. Luther Baldwin

To me, all of that just sounds like a bubble is waiting to burst.

    2. Scruffy Nerfherder

Internet advertising is way overdue for a market correction.

      1. AlmightyJB

I thought that happened years ago.

        1. Brochettaward

It did which is why Buzzfeed is trying to sell itself as the responsible content provider so that Google/Facebook squeeze out competition while they merge with what’s left (other left leaning click bit sites).

          1. AlmightyJB

Responsible as in putting pictures of chicks with giant boobs above all their links, but if you click on said links there are no boobs? That’s just evil.

          2. The Last American Hero

Say what you will about Q, but Q delivers the goods.

          3. Mojeaux

Shouldn’t you be The Last American Gyro?

  36. Mojeaux

    Chiefs. That is all.

    1. Brochettaward

My money is on Andy Reid finally kicking the bucket tonight. I mean that literally. He’s a heart attack waiting to happen.

      1. Mojeaux

        I am ashamed for chuckling.

      2. He could always OD instead like his son.

    2. AlmightyJB

Should be a good game. Wish I could stay up for it. Woke up at 4 this morning so not going to happen.

      1. Brochettaward

The NFL is establishing right away that no defense will be tolerated in this game.

This isn’t good anything. It’s watered down crap. But we’ll see a lot of points and stupid people will tune in in droves.

    3. Viking1865

Women should not be allowed to watch the Chiefs. The country simply cannot deal with the mass baby boom caused by Patrick Mahomes.

This is a primetime game. MNF. We could literally see millions of unplanned and unwanted pregnancies caused by that beautiful man rolling out to his right and casually throwing a laser 50 yards back across the grain. The healthcare system can’t deal with it.

  37. AlmightyJB

1.5 million? Bullshit. Of course I don’t expect actual facts from Newsweek. Also, Jazz the 70s called and wants their devil worship pants shitting back.

    1. Luther Baldwin

      “Witch” is the new “lesbian”.

      1. AlmightyJB

That’s fine. As long as we still get lesbian porn.

  38. AlmightyJB

Fucking Kasich. What sucks is he’s being replaced by his mini-me in DeWine. Hope they do have the override votes.

    http://abc6onyourside.com/news/local/governor-kasich-promises-to-veto-controversial-new-stand-your-ground-bill

    1. Brochettaward

Are you going to pay his bills when he’s out of office? Because CNN fucking will. Who are you to judge?

      1. AlmightyJB

        AlmightyJB.

    2. Rebel Scum

      Why is self-defense “controversial”?

      1. AlmightyJB

Evidently self-defense is racist. At least according to racist democrats in Ohio. ‘Cause you have to be racist to think like that.

      2. Because of instances like the asshole in Florida?(I think) who got pushed to the ground while berating some woman so he killed her boyfriend?

        1. Scruffy Nerfherder

          He should have been charged.

          1. I think he was but haven’t heard anything about it for a while, If I wasn’t lazy drunk I’d google it.

      3. More seriously, from the little bit in the article that JB linked it sounds like the state has to prove a killing wasn’t in self-defense, it’s the South Park “It’s coming right for us” defense. Basically, everyone gets the same treatment that cops get when they off some punk.

        1. Rebel Scum

Fair enough. Appropriate use of force in defense is relevant.

    3. Spudalicious

I don’t know what the hell happened to Kasich. In Congress, he was a somewhat tolerable establishment Republican. Since he became the governor of Ohio, he’s gone full on progressive douchebag.

      1. Tres Cool

As a resident of SW Ohio, where do I even begin my list of grievances ?

      2. AlmightyJB

Oh he’s gotten even worse once he was no longer up for re-election as governor. He’s a legend in his own mind.

        1. Tres Cool

          Shades of Boehner.

          1. Akira

            Haha, good ol’ John Boner…

When our 6th grade class took our trip to DC, the itinerary included some dumbass ceremony at the Capitol building where John Boner was going to present a flag that flew over the rotunda to our school as a gift. The kid selected to receive the flag and introduce Mr. Boner was this kid who was a straight-A student but still cool enough to break the rules now and then. The teachers warned him a thousand times during the trip, “His name is pronounced ‘BAY-ner’, just remember that. Don’t say ‘boner’.”

The day we were at the ceremony, this little rascal gets up there and says, “Introducing your Ohio congressman John BONER!”

          2. Spudalicious

The original Orange Man is to the right of Kasich these day. Christ, what an asshole.

    4. straffinrun

So it’s OK when he stands his ground?

    5. The Last American Hero

I assume that his security detail is well armed, and not with knifes or pointy sticks.

    1. Sean

Pass. I’ve come to realize I wouldn’t assfuck her on a Gadsden flag, out of irony.

      1. Spudalicious

It would have to be oral sex so that she couldn’t talk.

        1. dontreadonme

Only if she chokes on it.

    2. Rebel Scum

She’s from the ‘Harry Potter’ generation. Perhaps she thinks the legislature has the House, the Senate, and the Chamber of Secrets.

      1. Luther Baldwin

        “Sssssssocial justissssss…”
