Good morning Glibs and Gliberettes, Happy Friday!
All knives are out for Bad Orange Man, he’s bad, so there has to be a crime somewhere, just have to keep searching.
Meanwhile in Clintonville, former federal investigators who run a firm specializing in the audit of charities, testified yesterday that they believe the Clinton Foundation wasn’t being ran as a charity and more as a “closely held family partnership”. They also verified that there is an active FBI investigation into the charity. This is the only article I could find about yesterday’s testimony that I watched live. Our media is fucking evil.
Senate votes to end support for Yemen war.
I need a new hobby, reading the news for you is just making me depressed and making me want to buy more guns.
That’s all I got for today, I need to do things that’ll make me happy, like listening to this song. And this gif.
All knives are out for Bad Orange Man, he’s bad, so there has to be a crime somewhere, just have to keep searching. – I am no Trump fan but this is getting ridiculous.
Also sleep is for the weak. I have been awake for 8 hours
Hey! That image was not there when I first opened the linx… I call shenanigans
Slacker.
But seriously, as much as one hates trump, people who claim to favor democratic elections should be worried of this all out attack based on flimsy evidence. I mean I sincerely doubt any recent president was without illegal financing and it looks bad for democracy to investigate one and not the others
It’s not even about flimsy evidence. They are desperately searching for any evidence at all that some crime, any crime, can be pinned on Trump or his associates to try to overturn the results of an election because their side lost. This is very dangerous stuff.
In our “three felonies a day” times, it either speaks to their incompetence that they haven’t found anything OR that everything they find implicates 10x more Democrats so they have to ignore it.
WTF has his finger on the real issue. And nobody at a national level seems at all worried about it. The NY federal and state prosecutors have taken vows to “get Trump” at all costs. They have declared that they will investigate everyone with any ties to Trump looking for any evidence of any wrongdoing so they can leverage it to get Trump. They have done so publicly.
This should be enough to get them thrown out of office and disbarred. This is a serious perversion of the legal system. We do not target people, we target crimes. We also do not “get” people just because we think we can use extortion tactics to get them to testify against our target person.
I suppose the place that this rot really started was in the drug war. We routinely use mandatory minimums to target low-level offenders in order to extort cooperation in investigations. So everyone has become comfortable with this sort of extortion because, as everyone knows, drugs are bad, m’kay?
And now here we are, with senior national lawmakers and high-level administration officials openly stating that they intend to impeach the incoming president – not for anything he has done, but because they lost. And nobody called them out as being beyond what we will tolerate. So here we are, with multiple law enforcement agencies being used entirely for political attack, openly and without any consequence.
This is not the stuff of Washington, Jefferson, Franklin and Adams. This is the stuff of central American dictatorships.
They’re looking for evidence of foreign contributions. Like the kind the Obama campaign accepted when it turned off the location check on the credit card app and then paid a fine for when it got called out. That’s what they want to impeach over. It’s just a sad, desperate groping at straws at this point.
Pelosi crowing about how they can get Trump’s tax records from the IRS is what is most troubling to me.
The idea that they are going to do this with no evidence of a crime is stunning. Every citizen should be scared shitless by this move.
Are you sure you’re alive?
Can you go to jail if you are dead?
Did you see the picture? He looks dead to me.
After more than 20 years of working as a cook in Turkey, the 63-year-old returned home to Romania to discover that his wife had had him officially registered as dead.
You were gone for 20 years and then “Came Back Home?”
Hey honey i’m back from getting those cigarettes.
+ 1 Odysseus
hmm the similarities are quite striking. Did he kill all his wife’s suitors when he got home? If so it might be in his best interest to remain dead.
Well, if he was already legally dead that might be rather tempting…
Which might be a rather interesting screenplay…

Sounds too similar to Double Jeopardy
Yeah, you’re awake. But are you awoke?

Senate votes to end support for Yemen war. – wait and let them go unbombed? Or just let the Saudis pick up the slack? Anyhoo that will shave a few million of the defense budget… or will it?
I need a new hobby, reading the news for you is just making me depressed and making me want to buy more guns. – wait I did not no women were allowed arms in the American Patriarchy
Healthcare run by the government! With quality protections of your file information like this.
It’s rare I make it to the bottom of a news webpage – Fox, BBC, whatever – and find more than 2 “stories” I am tempted to click on. Most of them are re-heated political stuff, weather “tragedies”, ho-hum crime, “dog falls into river in Kansas”, or some celebrity I either don’t know/care about or wish I knew less about.
The Clinton Foundation stuff is silly on face value. 90% of your donations dry up after you lose the election? The public really going to accept that explanation? Oh, wait, there is no explanation for that.
I larfed when the investigators said less than 1% of 1% were responsible for 80% of the donations
There was a poster on here and/ or the other site who often said that the Clintons do all of their corrupt dealings right out in plain site. It’s one reason they get away with it. They’re so blatantly and outwardly corrupt, all while being arrogantly in attack mode, that it’s almost hard to believe for some people. Some kind of paradox or something?
I learned quite some time ago that if you openly act like you should be doing whatever is is you are doing, people will generally not question you.
It’s like walking around with a clipboard and a pen. You can go anywhere without being stopped.
Or carrying around a laptop and “looking” like an IT person. It’s amazing that even in this day and age people (who really should know better) will still offer up their passwords.
Go one step further. Wear something that makes you look like a delivery person and add a box to the ensemble. On the off chance that anyone does question you immediately interrupt them and ask them if they sign for the package and see to it that it gets to the correct person
But make sure the package very clearly looks like a pipe bomb.
“Serious stones there.”
Not even the half of it. The guy, in his previous government job, made 24’s “Jack Bauer” look like a wannabee. Serious real world baddass.
A guy I know got into Wall Street by working in one of those downstream companies which does the follow-on paperwork on the deals the big banks put together. He got all the info on who was who, what industries they favored, what they ordered for lunch.
So he picked up something like a uniform from a restaurant which one banker often ordered lunch from, bought a couple bags of take-out from the right restaurant, waltzed right through security with a “delivery for Mr. Smith” – and got an interview with a man who would never have talked to him otherwise.
Serious stones there.
“It’s like walking around with a clipboard and a pen. You can go anywhere without being stopped.”
This is true. I used to do fire inspections at a state hospital with 50 large buildings. It helped that I had master keys but no one paid me any attention.
It’s like walking around with a clipboard and a pen.
With some hipster getup, people will assume you’re canvassing and go out of their way to avoid you.
Yep. I will cross the street to avoid someone holding a clipboard.

When I was an intern at the courthouse, I just walked around with an empty file sometimes. It made me look like I was supposed to be there. It worked, no questions asked.
I’m not saying who it is, but someone I know quite well repo’d some construction equipment that had been seized by the military and was located on base in a fenced enclosure. It was remarkably straightforward to do.
A buddy and I used to crash hotel cocktail parties just by putting a lanyard around our necks with a name badge and some corp. name (“Smith & Associates LLC, Consultants)
” They’re so blatantly and outwardly corrupt, all while being arrogantly in attack mode, that it’s almost hard to believe for some people. Some kind of paradox or something?”
Was this the quote you were fishing for?
“thus in the primitive simplicity of their minds they more readily fall victims to the big lie than the small lie, since they themselves often tell small lies in little matters but would be ashamed to resort to large-scale falsehoods. It would never come into their heads to fabricate colossal untruths, and they would not believe that others could have the impudence to distort the truth so infamously. Even though the facts which prove this to be so may be brought clearly to their minds, they will still doubt and waver and will continue to think that there may be some other explanation.”
Question…. What power does the House have to access the Tax Returns of someone who was at the time a Private Individual? I saw a headline from NYT saying “Republicans go Full Totalitarian” but it seems to be the democrats that are constantly seeking power by any means necessary.
It’s damned dangerous, particularly with the media egging them on. We’re heading straight for partisan violence.
“The dark night of fascism is always descending on Republicans, but it is always composed of leftist Democrats.”
She added, “Yes, there is popular demand for the Congress to request the president’s tax returns. They will have their path as we go forward. I’m sure the White House will resist, so the question is, where do we go from there?”
In the interest of transparency, I advocate that all of you congresscritters release your tax returns as well. Surely you have nothing to hide, Nancy.
I wanna see the slush fund they have set up to pay off accusers.
The House only has the right to obtain tax returns as part of a legitimate investigation into wrongdoing, where there is actual credible evidence of a crime, not “popular demand”.
Trump should make good on his threat to investigate the Dems if they continue down this path.
Absolutely. *Adds popcorn to grocery list.*
Investigate with what DOJ/FBI? The ones that went all in to try and frame him to protect Democrats?
That’s why he needed to get an attack dog in as AG. He pretty much dropped the ball on that opportunity.
I wanted Trey Gowdy.
Gowdy would have been great, but Chris Christie would have been more entertaining.
The only thing he can attack is a bowl of ice cream.
But if Christie was AG he would have made a nice addition to the Hat and the Hair stories.
This
I’m afraid we’re past the point of no return. The nomenklatura are in charge now.
Do you think Occluded-Cortex ever filed a tax return?
would you people stop that?
Who you calling you people
We really should use her real name. O’creamio Cotex.
I’d rather see her nudes
You know they are out there somewhere.
To file a tax return, you have to have been gainfully employed at some point.
I wonder if she reported her tips when she waitressed at the Coffee Shop?
It’s “Occasional-Cortex”. Geez.
Neiman Marxist is still my fave.
What is wrong with Gulag Barbie?
From some people’s perspective it’s too accurate.
That’s a new one for me, I like it! I might like that better than Karla Marx, actually.
Hotsky Trotsky
Pol Thot
Sure. And as a tipped employee only reported about 1/3 of her income.
That would be amusing.
“Ms. Cortex, I see that while you were gainfully employed as a barista and waitress, you reported no income from tips. Either you committed tax fraud, or you were such a bad barista and waitress that nobody ever gave you a tip. Would you care to comment?”
Like Trump does anything other than sign some huge pile of tax returns that his Tax Dept. thrusts in front of him. MONEY magazine once sent a fairly straightforward set of tax info to CPA firms and enrolled IRS agents and got a dozen or more different tax totals. That is pretty convincing evidence that everyone of us has something incorrect with our returns.
The Money Mag experiment has been replicated many times. I’m not sure if they still do it, but the WSJ was doing a similar thing every year around April 15.
Amy Schumer Doesn’t Want To Look F*ckable
She wants to feel cozy.

And another stunning success for Amy, she seems to accomplish what she puts her mind to. Still a she right? Did not change pronouns yet?
Are their specific pronouns for beasts?
So I mentioned to SP last night that you’d gotten twitterbanned. I did not have an answer to her obvious question of what you said.
Apparently, approval of pedophilia won’t do it, I’m still there.
Nah, I gave up on Twitter for my own reasons. It was a nice experiment, but much like I quit FB, I can only deal with a conduit to mass stupidity in my face for so long. Also, I know I’m a freak, and it doesn’t do much for my self esteem to gaze upon the rest of society, such as it is, and be reminded of that fact daily.
You should have gone with one of the reasons we postulated yesterday.
Maybe I am. Do you think I want to publicly state that I am an AutoTrannyPhobe?
You seem to be luckier than than Yiannopoulos fella
“Are their specific pronouns for beasts?”
Maybe not exactly..
Bull/cow, Boar/sow, Ram/ewe, Buck/doe, Goose/gander, Cock/hen,
Cow and Sow seem to work for Schumer.
The twins?
LOOK AT HER, PIE!! LOOK AT HER
NO and you can’t make me
Again, what is appropriate pronoun for a beast?
Amy’s pronouns are chunk, chunker and chunkot.
She doesn’t realize that she has already accomplished that mission?
RE: The View. I was subjected to hearing that program once while waiting in a doctors office. I don’t know how people can a) listen to the vapid level of discussion they have and b) find it insightful at all.
And Orin Hatch is a piece of garbage senator, but once again the left has gone full totalitarian (to steal their phrase) and anyone who doesn’t challenge their opponents, are clearly criminals.
To borrow from Shapiro, Things I love: The dancing spiderman. (Matches the INXS I’m going with tonight). Things I hate: Joy Behar links.
I pray everyday no one I know sends me a Joy Behar link. I’ll never be able to look at them again.
Behar: Orange man bad. Put people who don’t speak out against him in prison. People who speak things I don’t like should go to prison also. Orange man bad.
I assume your doctor was a psychiatrist.
it was a clinic, I don’t actually have a general practitioner that I see.
(joke was a shrink would have The View on to keep the customers insane.)
Hahaha, sorry. Part of me realized it was a joke, but i guess not the part that wrote the response.
Easy. Many people are ignorant.
I would never call Joy Behar a retard, because developmental disabilities aren’t something to be joked about. Many good people through no fault of their own are born with mental disabilities and nevertheless demonstrate persistence, patience, and kindness that everyone should respect and, quite frankly, emulate.
No, Joy Behar is a fuckin’ idiot. She could opt to not be a shrieking harpy bellowing ignorance, airing every single half-baked, thoughtless opinion as it glides through the howling wasteland between her ears, but she doesn’t. She chooses to be a moron. People like that should be excoriated, shunned, and driven from civilization.
She should be deported to one the many fine countries that experts have judged to be safer for women than our racist shithole of a country. I recommend one that has
very fewno old white men running/fixing/building things.Save the Diversiteezs!
Most notoriously, the House bill’s creators introduced stricter work requirements for users of food stamps, requiring able-bodied adult beneficiaries to work or participate in work training for 20 hours per week. The reforms could have caused as many as two million food stamp recipients to lose benefits or see them reduced.
The final bill maintains most of this coverage. It folds the farmers’ market and young and beginning farmers grant programs into a Local Agriculture Market Program that will get $60 million in permanent funding going forward. It also combines the Beginning Farmer and Rancher Development Program with Section 2501, which serves socially disadvantaged and veteran farmers and ranchers into a Farming Opportunities Training and Outreach Program. That will provide $50 million yearly over the next four years to help these groups get started in agriculture — a growing need as the average farmer’s age continues to increase and as American farmers continue to skew white and male.
———-
The alarming trends call for urgent attention and action — but it’s not what we get from the new bill. As fewer and older farmers produce a less diverse and sustainable array of food, we desperately need to support small and midsize producers and cultivate a more sustainable system of agriculture. Ultimately, Farm Bill reform is not just about saving taxpayer money or fighting cronyism — it is about saving the nation’s farms.
Blah blah blah teh kkkorporate farms will kill us all. They’re all racist, and shit. I blame Monsanto.
Man, these cats are fucking talented at taking a legitimate issue, in this case the ongoing decline of the family farm, and the incredibly high barriers to entry into farming, and turn it into whinging identity politics.
Decades of practice.
It’s the “shit covered floor” tactic. You throw all the shit you can at the wall, not really caring that it will stick. Then, when people start realizing that the wall is still squeaky clean, you redirect their attention to the fact that the floor is covered in shit!!
But… but… agricultural output is soaring, breaking all records. I blame global warming.
Most notoriously, the House bill’s creators introduced stricter work requirements for users of food stamps, requiring able-bodied adult beneficiaries to work or participate in work training for 20 hours per week. – sounds like slavery to me
Every once in a while i have a moment of clarity and I realize how fucking evil and mendacious the left is with the racial narrative. You know what kind of statistical miracle it would be if every sector in the economy was a perfect subset of the population as a whole? I mean for the party of science they aren’t even very exact. Only certain areas of the country are actually used for farming so if you are going to do some comparisons you should actually compare what the make up of ranchers/farmers is to the demographics of those areas, as it makes no sense to include Urbanites in it. Of course if we make that point it will only be a few months before some “thought” piece on Vox/Jezebelle/Root is putting forward the idea that we should forcibly relocate people to evenly distribute the population.
You know what kind of statistical miracle it would be if every sector in the economy was a perfect subset of the population as a whole?
It’s never happened in history. It would be the first time.
I am very disturbed by how unrepresentative of the general population the NBA is.
I won’t rest until we see moar longshore women.
“American farmers continue to skew white and male.”
What we need to do is follow South Africa’s lead — confiscate white farmers land without compensation.
You can understand their point when you realize corporate farming eats into their base of welfare recipients.
How? Maybe I am obtuse, but I don’t see any component of Team D’s base that has any interaction (other than consumption) with farming.
Historically ag subsidies are what built Team D. Yeah, it’s a small fraction now compared to the huge majority it used it be but they can’t stand losing even one welfare dependent to a free market arrangement (corporate farming, for example) that nets the individual more income and less dependency.
The small farmer has been solidly Republican for decades. Probably the most solidly Republican demographic overall. The last time what you are describing was significant to a Democrat win was probably FDR’s first or second term.
and it wouldn’t surprise me that the DNC doesn’t know this yet
Small Farmers were still solidly Democrat well into the 1970’s. Illinois didn’t become a Dem cesspool just because of Chicago. LBJ’s Great Society shit started flipping some of the rural south to the GOP, but part of that was because the Dems needed to refocus on urban population with the rural populations shrinking. What’s left of rural America is probably solid GOP at this point, but that is likely not because of a shift in attitudes but because the old rural Dem supporters and especially their children relocated to urban areas.

Wouldn’t it have been nice if they’d done it out of principle rather than out of pique? That would give me some hope that they might consider getting out of the other 6 or 7 (I lose count) Bush-Obama wars.
Those Clinton Foundation investigators did a good job. They stood up to both sides really well, especially when Meadows started giving them shit at the end.
I generally mute the Democrats when the talk in Committee, but yesterday I listened. It’s amazing how misinformed these morons are, and they can’t even follow a simple question and answer thread.
I haven’t seen that one yet. The Judicial Watch one yesterday left me wanting to strangle somebody. I’ll assume it was more of the same, “But Cohen and Trump’s charity!”
I watched some. After the guy laid out the criminal enterprise that was the Clinton Foundation, some 3-foot-tall black lady Democrat asked incomprehensible pointless questions until I turned it off.
https://www.c-span.org/video/?455872-1/hearing-clinton-foundation
2:37:46 and after is pretty funny
Something I learned from the hearing:
Apparently, because of the whistle blower statute, you can present probably cause of a crime to the IRS and get a reward of 10-30% of the claim if it’s won.
That’s the only thing that would make the persecution you receive at the hands of government agents worthwhile. That, and the possibility that you might live long enough to see them get a slap on the wrist.
The guys at this hearing estimated between 400 million and 1.8 billion dollars owed in back taxes by the Clinton Foundation and were pretty adamant about being in the game simply for the money.
It will be a cold day in hell when the Clintons are actually convicted of anything. I wish them luck.

The Clinton Foundation was not being run as a charity? Those poor indigent folks had nary two nickels to rub together when they were evicted from the White House, and look at them now. Mission fulfilled.
As if everyone didn’t already know the Clinton Foundation was just slush fund for the Clinton’s graft.

Gotta love the VA.
It needs to be razed. Some institutions cannot be saved.
I don’t understand how some people can look at the VA and think that single payer is a good idea.
Some people are stupid.
SomeMany people are stupid. Plus a lot of the stupid ones are evil and/or insane.Had this talk with a customer of mine. The conversation started about how incompetent the VA was. She was so dug in about single payer, she was singing the quality and efficiency of the VA by the end of the conversation. There is no end to the delusion.
Another single payer success story.

That is close to the average sentence for actual rape, so yeah seems a bit excessive for groping.

Farming is too efficient. We need to put an end to all that efficiency.
“Our media is fucking evil”
As Michael Malice says “The Media is factually Correct but Dishonest.” I wonder how the average person would react if you explained the Clinton foundation but said it was the “Trump Foundation”. Or even some generic foundation.
I listened to Malice interviewing that Count Dankula chap yesterday morning. I was belly laughing the whole time. Camus and Kafka with a Scottish accent.
I will dispute that the Media is factually correct. I have witnessed too many factual errors and outright falsehoods.
True, but often they are Correct in the facts they assert, but they are dishonest in the way the frame them. E.g Cohen/Flynn pleas. They will factually report that they plead guilty, and they will factually report the allegations of Russian collusion. But they will leave out the fact that there is no evidence and that Flynn and Cohen plead to minor other charges.
The past two years of character assassination and lies perpetrated against Jordan Peterson should disabuse anyone of the notion that the media are honest dealers.
They are evil and nothing more than the propaganda wing of the

So would it be equally funny if an outdated movie had a fantasy about men’s genitalia removing his female sex partner’s genitalia. . . ? Just asking.

When the villain in a horror film is your wish fulfillment fantasy, you have problems. Serious, deep seated problems.
If you like schlocky horror, it’s not that bad of a film. The main character runs into the worst stereotypes of men that you can imagine, and they all bring their pain upon themselves. Off the top of my head there’s a raping boyfriend, a gynecologist who starts groping her, a boy who lied to her (and was bragging to his friend where she could overhear), and a step-brother who tried to sleep with her.
She wasn’t the villain. When men tried to rape her, her vagina but their penis off. Then she becomes a hero for walking around in short skirts and waiting to get raped and biting dicks off. The end.
Fun fact: she got teeth in her vagina because she lived under power lines.
she got teeth in her vagina because she lived under power lines

Fine. Then you explain how she got teeth in her vagina, smart guy.

Trump is an undead ghoul that is animated by the unholy powers of The Hair.

Hungarians protest at ‘slave law’ labor reform
https://www.reuters.com/article/us-hungary-protest/hungarians-protest-at-slave-law-labor-reform-idUSKBN1OB2T9
BUDAPEST (Reuters) – Around 2,000 Hungarians protested late on Wednesday outside parliament against new legislation allowing employers to ask staff to work up to 400 hours per year of overtime, a reform its critics have dubbed the “slave law”.
Average job = 40 hrs/week x 50 weeks/year = 2000 hours
Truck drivers = 70 hrs/week x 50 weeks/year = 3500 hours
1500 hour/year differential.
What was that about slavery?
Ahh it’s slavery that the employers are allowed to ask for extra hours. It might be antiquated, but i preferred the days when the term slavery had something to do with coercive force…

That’s exactly what a white supremacist would say!
Freakin’ violent right-wing white nationalists…..
What do you expect them to do? They were walking… and they looked like they were white…. and they were dudes! I mean, c’mon!
Plus, there were only two of them. That’s really important. They are very violent when there are only one or two of them, so you gotta strike first and strike fast in large groups. You know, to protect the innocent.

Yeah, it’s frightening that a chief justice thinks it’s appropriate to destroy someone based on an accusation with no evidence, no corroboration, and ample evidence that the accuser’s story is bullshit.
signals were sent. She’ll be doing some awards presentation soon. Maybe even receiving one for such a brave stance.
This. She doesn’t care about Kavanaugh, just her own social standing in California.
She already gave an award at some Sport Illustrated show.
I don’t think you have to go so far as ‘story was BS’. I mean, I realize that this idea will get you crucified these days, but if you think that her version of events that happened in high school 35 years earlier mean that this guy can never hold an important job ever again in life, you are mentally ill. First, even her story as told wasn’t anything close to what people were pretending it was, and secondly, there is no way that her version as told 35 years later would not be altered to be more damaging to him and more in her favor, even if something happened.
In an honest world with people acting honorably, this would have been dismissed immediately. There’s a reason we treat teenagers as children and not as adults. And we also have the idea that people can change and grow…. There’s no reason to think that even someone who committed actual crimes, even into their 20’s, would still be untrustworthy after a 30+ year run of being an upstanding citizen.
The whole thing is just nuts.
But we are living in an era where some offhand joke from 18 years ago can resurface and kill your job chances, so I suppose it is what it is. Crazy times…
‘xactly. I can think of some pretty horrible things I did as a young man. Girls… booze… drugs… teenage hormones… are not a good mix for “moral behavior”.
And damn… we still are a weirdo puritanical society. The ancient Romans would be befuddled by our view of sex.
Well, if they examined our political class’ public protestations….
But then if they spent about 5 minutes on the internet, it might just set their hair on fire.
The Chief Justice of California’s Supreme Court announced on Thursday that she had left the Republican Party following the confirmation of U.S. Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh.
I thought justices were not supposed to be partisan.
it’s frightening that a chief justice thinks it’s appropriate to destroy someone based on an accusation with no evidence
Seconded.
Should 4 year olds be taught consent at school?
These experts believe that America is currently facing a sexual violence epidemic and that mandatory consent education programs in public schools could help curb the tide.
Seeing as they won’t be able to consent for another 12 – 14 years (depending on jurisdiction)….
I’m wondering how consent culture and #metoo gets rolled into “pedophilia is okay”. It seems that cultural marxism is at a crossroad…….
do they go down the road of fighting against all forms of sexual oppression (everything is permissible) or do they continue on the puritanical ‘all sex is bad’ (nothing is permissible) route?
Yes.
There will be a good deal of cognitive dissonance in trying to reconcile the idea that pedophilia is acceptable, but having sex with a willing but drunk partner is rape. But God bless ’em, if there’s anyone who can do it, it’s the progressive left.
Logical consistency is not a requirement under postmodernist rules.
In fact, it is frowned upon.
The only metric is power and whether or not an argument helps an aggrieved class of “victim” or hurts an “oppressor”. Everything else is secondary.
They’ve done it with intoxication already. See a drunk woman is incapable of consent, but a drunk man is still in full control of his faculties and knows damn well what he’s doing.
As far as #metoo is concerned, this will be child’s play.
Everything you need to know about life you learn in kindergarten …. and then you are told to ignore all of it in the twelfth grade when encouraged to vote.

I think 4 year olds should be taught to cover their mouth when sneezing and to properly wipe their asses.
These people are sick.
I wonder how the average person would react if you explained the Clinton foundation but said it was the “Trump Foundation”. Or even some generic foundation.
Well, the suckers keep throwing their money at the American Red Cross, so my expectations are pretty low.
“I don’t know if you saw this clip of Orrin Hatch, the esteemed, so-called senator from Utah,” Behar said. “I used to like him because he was very friendly with Teddy Kennedy,” the late Massachusetts senator.
Maybe she meant to put the “so-called” before “esteemed”. And everyone knows that Ted Kennedy is a model statesman…
“’I don’t care,’ he said, ‘the president’s doing a good job,” Behar said. “Where have we come when a senator from Utah is saying, ‘I don’t care if he committed a crime?’”
I don’t think words mean what Behar thinks they mean.
“He is going out of office. He has nothing to lose by speaking, against, truth to power about Trump,” Behar said. “Why does he say, ‘Even if he commits a crime, it’s OK?’ Maybe he needs to go to jail, too.”
I don’t think he said that. Take your meds you shrieking, fascistic harpy.
” so-called senator from Utah”
I can unfortunately assure you, he was in fact a senator from Utah.
But on the bright side for Joy, who likes senators from Massachusetts, we ceded one of our seats so that Massachusetts could have a third senator.
“I used to like him because he was very friendly with Teddy Kennedy,”
Mary Jo Kopechne was unavailable for comment.
Per the earlier Kavanaugh bit… exactly how many women have quit the DNC because Ted Kennedy literally killed a woman while drunk driving and left her to die and rot underwater so he could get his story straight with his political operatives. Because, on the spectrum of things, I gotta think leaving some secretary to die after a drunk driving accident is way, way worse than an unsupported allegation of groping as a teenager.
Or, for that matter, how about quitting the DNC because of their support for a serial rapist? Or a sexual harasser par excellence….
No? Not gonna quit for that? Just for failing to run a guy out of town on a rail because of the say-so of one person who has claims that don’t amount to anything, even if taken seriously?

7-year-old Guatemalan girl died in Border Patrol custody
https://edition.cnn.com/2018/12/13/us/guatemalan-girl-death-ice/index.html
Overall is Guatemala really that bad for the parents to do this?
Parents? I’m pretty sure there is video evidence that Trump himself was there and ordered the doctors to stand down and made sure this little girl died. Give the NYT some time and they will uncover that evidence.
And then he ordered everyone to kneel as he walked up to the body, stuck a straw in it and began to suck all the blood out.
No Hillary LOST no presidential vampirism until at earliest 2021
I smell a new plotline for H&H!
Who knows?
You’re talking about incredibly poor people who are by and large vastly ignorant. They know what the rumor mill and NGO dipshits tell them.
NGO dipshits convinced one group that they should demand $55k each in order to go away – and that they deserved such payments as ‘reparations’.
So there is no telling what the NGO dipshits are capable of telling them.
While not all of the NGO groups are assholes, there does seem to be a large contingent that are more interested in the political outcomes than the personal.
On the political front, I’m amazed that the talking heads at CNN/MSNBC, etc. have made it an axiomatic fact that Trump ginned up the whole migrant caravan thing as a scare tactic for the election, when we know for a flat fact that a bunch of far-left organizations organized the caravan and publicly stated that it was their intention to reach the border in time for the election.
It takes a special level of motivated reasoning to see the entire thing as a hysterical response from Trump designed to whip up racism in the US ahead of the elections.
Overall is Guatemala really that bad for the parents to do this?-
It’s a shithole, but you can’t call it that for reasons.
Overall is Guatemala really that bad for the parents to do this?Overall is Guatemala really worth being interfered with by Uncle Sam?
During communism sometimes Romanians dies trying to leave the country but children were not with them. When not in the EU and parents tried to go illegal to say France, they left the kids home. Off course this still happens for legal immigrants and creates a whole different set of serious social issues, but not death.

Hey, isn’t today the first anniversary of the elimination of Net Neutrality? Is the internet still working? Has everyone’s ISP started charging more for streaming?
Sure the internet still works, but everyone is dead, so was it worth it?
Well I had to fight to get my work VPN to get a stable connection this morning, I’m sure that’s due to Net Neutrality.

I get a pop-up like every 3 minutes forcing me to make large ‘voluntary’ donations go big oil, or my internets stop working. Is that legal?
IT’S STILL COMING
A YEAR WITHOUT NET NEUTRALITY: NO BIG CHANGES (YET)
IT’S BEEN ONE year since the Federal Communications Commission voted to gut its net neutrality rules. The good news is that the internet isn’t drastically different than it was before. But that’s also the bad news: the ‘net wasn’t always so neutral to begin with.
End of article:
The news isn’t all bad. A report by OpenSignal found that mobile data speeds had increased this year. Speeds should only improve as 5G networks roll-out in coming years. And according to the Northeastern research, home broadband providers like Comcast and Charter don’t throttle video. But the dream of a truly neutral ‘net hasn’t yet been realized.
So it’s bad, even though it is not bad.
Idiots
They’re willing to hand over management of the internet to an unaccountable government agency just because they “think” they’ll get unthrottled torrents and free Netflix. Net Neutrality is the dumbest fucking thing in tech ever.
Actually my internet provider did increase rates. To be fair they said the original rate was for the first year only.

RE: Yemen
Funny, you didn’t give a shit about reigning in executive war powers when your guy got us involved.
It’s amazing how many people still don’t know that it was Obama, and his warmonger beeotch Samantha Power, that gave the green light for US assistance to The House of Saud’s campaign against Yemen. Especially given that it was reported right in the NYT.
They don’t care.
We’re neck deep in politics as religion now. Nobody cares what their party does as long as their party remains in power.
I had a proggy friend try to get righteous about her side being “anti-war” about a year ago. In short order I pointed out her sides track record in comparison to the consistency of the libertarian position. The was some mutterings about good intentions and the subject was quickly changed. Like you said, they don’t care.
I pointed out to the gf’s card carrying Democrat mother and aunt that the Obama Admin left us militarily involved in more countries than we were before it. They scoffed that off. TEAM > principle.
Ben Rhodes….BEN FUCKING RHODES, of all people, had the stones to take to Twitter and sternly lecture Trump about how bad it is to support the Saudi war in Yemen.
I’m loving how the media is doing their best to pin this war on Trump. I’m not letting Trump off the hook on this one, he should have ended it the day he took office, but still the deliberate deception by our media on our gold-fish level attention span citizens is flabbergasting. The media are the deep states Quislings. For some reason it’s easier to hate the puppet more than the puppet master.
Everyday Feminism Seminar Offers To Heal ‘Internalized Whiteness’
Nah, I think the eye rolling and mocking is the best course of action.

No thanks. Already had enough of trying to “listen and engage” those ideas at a forced panel on microaggressions I had to attend st a work conference. Waste of time, full of crap, and all the “advice” only serves to give ways to make the work environments worse. These types get all my scoffs.

I don’t know how you do it. I had to attend an all day #metoo conference (before #metoo REALLY got big) and I finally could no longer hold my tongue.

Discussion Facilitator: “Yes, Bob”
Me: “You realize by your definition there is nobody in this room whom was not conceived in, and engaged in, rape right?”
I’m sure that must’ve went well at the discussion. In my case, I’m on my last year of the job so it was the last time I had to go to this conference. Man, don’t they get tired living with such delusions and paranoia?
Funny moment: one of the pieces of advice that was mentioned was to talk about and be very open about your politics, beliefs, etc. while at work. This is with full knowledge all the employees at the conference work in public sector Japanese offices and schools.
Was that said by some delusional who just assumes everyone in the room is an evangelical progressive? Because I’m pretty sure me explaining to everyone that taxation is theft and that the government has a monopoly on violence is not going to be appreciated.
Hear hear good sir.
Damnit I accidentally tapped the comment button too early. What I was gonna say was that yeah I don’t think that would go down well at all.
Fuck, at my last job people wondered why I didn’t want to spend time watching “history” by watching Obama’s first inauguration. And at one point we were asked to change a light board in our area because it said, “It’s better to die on your feet then live on your knees.” since that was “violence”.
So, when did we start considering the Irish, Italians, Hungarians, Greeks, Germans, and Jews white?
If you consider skin color an affliction that needs to be healed, you’re a racist.
Q punching down again.
That’s exactly what a white supremacist would say. You need to attend this workshop immediately, to cure your toxic whiteness.

Our plan to revive Europe can succeed where Macron and Piketty failed
Yanis Varoufakis
https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2018/dec/13/plan-europe-macron-piketty-green-new-deal-britain
The great advantage of our Green New Deal is that we are taking a leaf out of US President Franklin Roosevelt’s original New Deal in the 1930s: our idea is to create €500bn every year in the green transition across Europe, without a euro in new taxes.
Here’s how it would work: the European Investment Bank (EIB) issues bonds of that value with the European Central Bank standing by, ready to purchase as many of them as necessary in the secondary markets. The EIB bonds will undoubtedly sell like hot cakes in a market desperate for a safe asset. Thus, the excess liquidity that keeps interest rates negative, crushing German pension funds, is soaked up and the Green New Deal is fully funded.
Once hope in a Europe of shared, green prosperity is restored, it will be possible to have the necessary debate on new pan-European taxes on C02, the rich, big tech and so on – as well as settling the democratic constitution Europe deserves.
LOLOLOLOL can you imagine?
I love it: they think that borrowing money is creating wealth. And they think that they can raise interest rates by dumping new bonds into the market.
Its so skull-crushingly stupid you don’t even know where to begin.
In fairness while borrowing does not create wealth, dumping bonds in the market will in fact raise interest rates. Interest rates are the price paid by borrowers for money. Dumping bonds on the market is by definition increasing demand in the money market.
I think I did have that backward – when a central bank issues debt it absorbs liquidity, raising rates.
Of course, when rates go up, the economy cools off. Somehow, I don’t think the EU economy needs less growth.
In theory it will raise interest rates. In reality the first recipients of the “new money” get to take advantage of it while the rest of the market has to catch up. So the interest rate increase doesn’t happen immediately, you get some asset price inflation first. Followed by asset price crashes after the interest rates finally catch up.
The goal of the ruling class is to prevent the market from ever catching up – and any unintended consequences resulting from this foolish attempt are simply reclassified as something that has to be regulated and/or taxed (by the ruling class, naturally).
“Our plan to revive Europe can succeed”
When the plan starts with the heads of Marcon, Merkel, and May on pikes in the public square, they’re off to a good start.
Is the “caravan” from Guatemala marching through Phoenix yet? What happened to it?
Last I heard, they were stuck in Tijuana living in camps. The Mexicans were/are getting more and more fed up with them.
Side note: you wanna see racism? See how a Mexican treats a Central American.
Or any Mexican darker skinned, or anyone not Mexican. It’s the same nearly everywhere outside the USA. We are the only country I know of where your chances are better than 50/50 of being treated as an equal regardless of your ethnicity.
“See how a Mexican treats a Central American.”
Ha, I’ve seen it plenty of times. They call them all ‘Guatemalans’.
I think what’s happening is that the effort for a TV-genic mass breach of the border has been abandoned in favor of the more traditional sneaking across. I’m reading that thousands of illegals are being caught at the border every day.
Are you fucking kidding me? That’s a great way to recreate the 1930’s alright.

Yes, 2 pounds, not 20. Typo.
But you’re still objectively wrong about the tits.
Will read, but as far as I know gut bacteria influences inflammation in the body including brain. Also I assume whatever ends up in your blood also goes to the brain.
Also I assume whatever ends up in your blood also goes to the brain.
Blood brain barrier has a sad.
A lot of the protein fragments dropped off by the gut flora are pretty small. Many are similar to our own hormones that pass the blood-brain barrier.
There’s lots of research happening on this topic. It will be interesting to see where it leads. There is already some evidence that gut flora can cause obesity and mental illness.
I’m in the camp that considers autism to be largely a symptom of neurological inflammation. The source of inflammation can be from a number of things but gut bacteria contribute heavily. When my son’s gut yeast infection was at its worst, his symptoms were indistinguishable from Asperger’s syndrome.
When I had C diff, I was definitely depressed. Though that might have had something to do with constantly feeling nauseated and going to the john 10 times a day.
SO I had an office Christmas party last night. Sadly due to the demand of the many people devoid of taste, it was open bar instead of getting drink tickets worth a certain value. Meant lots of bad booze, which I ended up drinking more that I planned of because I feel uncomfortable at such parties and compensate by drinking. SO I should not be drinking today again, but am because the bad wine made me want to have some decent one. So I opened a bottle of Chateau Rozier Saint-Emilion. Needs to breath a little so waiting for that…
Did you get drunk enough to hit on the hot receptionist?
no. I have little confidence sober and it gets worse when I am drunk. I keep thinking no woman wants to get hit on by a drunk guy

I want them to continue down that road. The left have abandoned rationality and decided to go with race as a key factor. The more they push on this the more and more they will become the party of racial divisiveness.
Seems kinda racist to have one of your primary concerns be the skin pigment of the candidate.
Shhhh, they’re the good kind of racist. The kind that wants the concerns and priorities of certain races placed above the rights of other races, to the point that they start to demonize the other races… Oh wait.
Well that was a bag of shit links that is depressing as hell. Might as well really fuck up Tundra’s day. Met Council is coming up with plans to spend $27M on a 5 mile bike trail.
It will finally allow bike riders to go in a big circle around the city of Minneapolis. So far though, the stupid people living there just use it for industrial stuff. What a bunch of rubes.
It will finally allow bike riders to go in a big circle around the city of Minneapolis. – to be fair that is also an Olympic sport
I have biked the grand round for decades and I can tell you, having to go a few blocks down industrial boulevard during the 50-mile ride is really no hardship. Seriously.
Doesn’t affect you since Tundra stole your bike.
That is why I’m so bitter.
Piece of shit fell apart in a week. I wish he’d spend more on bikes.
Oh, no! Not Cleveland and Tucson! The horror!
That is why the Met Council has to step in. This is bigger than just Minneapolis. Regional pride is at stake Tundra.
I can’t wait to move away.
Coming to Cleveland because of our cycling loop?
Well, lots of Cleveland’s industry has disappeared along with half its population. I’m sure Minneapolis will get there some day if they keep working hard at it.
Clean water: the latest casualty in Trump’s attack on the environment
https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2018/dec/14/clean-water-casualty-trump-attack-environment
The cruelty and the idiocy of Donald Trump’s presidency does not chiefly lie in his tweets or even his words. Trump the performer is ridiculous, but that’s the clown show that keeps many of us either terrified or entertained – the real harm is elsewhere, away from the blaring headlines.
Trump has been most destructive in his willingness to carry out an unabashedly rightwing policy agenda. Most Republicans competing for the nomination in 2016 embraced their party’s total capitulation to the fossil fuel industry, denying the existence of climate change and promising to shred Environmental Protection Agency regulations. This is a central threat to America’s future: a major, powerful political party rejecting science itself.
This week, the Trump administration said it would weaken federal clean water rules designed to protect millions of acres of wetlands and thousands of miles of streams from pesticide runoff and other pollutants. This proposal would not just undo Obama-era regulations but chip away at protections instituted under the late George HW Bush, perhaps the last major Republican to pay even lip service to the environment
Goddamn it! I was hoping to visit Louisiana wetlands before they were all destroyed
Clearly if the Act is the “Clean Water Act”, any chipping away at the law is an attack on clean water. SCIENCE!
Fuck the Guardian limeys.
I get it when they want to weigh in on US foreign policy or even climate change, but this is strictly a domestic issue and Trump is rolling back what was a clear violation of federal statute and constitutional authority.
God damn Brooklynite talking about cruelty form Trump. This is cruelty.
Don’t ask me what I would do to the government apparatchiks involved.
The entire tillable areas of states like Indiana were swamps, that if had not been drained and filled, could have never been used for anything useful. If only those had been left as germ filled mosquito breeding grounds from hell. I blame Trump.
If only DC had been left as a germ-filled mosquito breeding ground from hell.
You have a strong point.
Well, it actually has maintained its character as a vermin-filled vermin breeding ground from hell.
I read a story like this where the property owner cleared debris from a culvert downstream because he couldn’t get the state to do it. The debris had cause the culvert to have a larger backwater backing into his buildable area on his property that the EPA considered to be wetlands and he was fined 10s of thousands of dollars per day as a result.
Having been on a boat tour of the “Louisiana Wetlands” I have two responses. 1. Nothing you dump in that water can do anything but make it cleaner. 2. drain the swamp.
I understand why people are willing to live in the Arctic, wander the Sahara, or make their home in Tibet; settling the bayou was insane. You can smell the diseases in the air, every few feet there is a poisonous snake or alligator, the bayou is the dinosaur reservation and should be left to them.
(sorry Suthen)
I lived next to the swamp down in south Louisiana and found it fascinating. I’d take my dog in my pirogue and go where I easily believed no other human had been. And yeah, re dinosaurs, I wouldn’t have been surprised to have come across one back in there. I do miss those adventures.
What’s the difference between a pirogue and a canoe? Geography?
Its spelled pierogi, and the difference is that you can’t eat a canoe.
/s
The sides of the pirogue are short and the bottom is flat. Much of what you’re going through isn’t empty water – it’s full of vegetation and is like very wet mud, so tipping is less likely. Hence you see the dudes standing up in them and pushing along with a pole.

The women in the department outside the mailroom moved their break room from the kitchen area with a sink to a former office with no water hookup, because… I have no idea. It’s closer for the department head, maybe. So now they have to lug water from the real break room to the new break room, one twelve cup carafe at a time.

“For some individuals, [ROGD] may represent an ego-syntonic but maladaptive coping mechanism to avoid feeling strong or negative emotions similar to how the drive to extreme weight loss can serve as an ego-syntonic but maladaptive coping mechanism in anorexia nervosa. A maladaptive coping mechanism is a response to a stressor that might relieve the symptoms temporarily but does not address the cause of the problem and may cause additional negative outcomes.”

There are also lots of links to neat quizzes that will tell you your dinosaur, dragon and pornstar name if you just enter a few pieces of personal data.
Didn’t one of the original security software developers concerning passwords come out and admit that the consequence of requiring constantly changing, long passwords requiring both numbers and special letters was that passwords had become incredibly predicable?
The requiring special characters rather than just longer but simpler to remember passwords is probably the worst development.
Passphrases are where it’s at.
Correct horse battery staple.
Dammit! Now I have to change my password!
I used to use ‘Fukth35t4t3’. For extended passphrases I would add, ‘1nth3455’.
One system I have to log into refuses any password with consecutive characters. So your addition would cause the password to fail. Another system only allows passwords that are 8 characters long. No more, no less.
Nope. Using words is a bad idea.
The idea is that there really are only about 171K words in English, so throwing combinations of them together isn’t too much of a challenge.
“Correct” isn’t really going to take you 26^7 tries to guess (like a random password). It is only one in 171K.
I think there is some validity to this theory. I think it over simplifies some things a bit too. Adding a random acronym or number could make things much harder for example, but keep the ease of remembering it.
Yes, and there have been repeated articles that pop up from time to time on how insane our password system is. Why don’t the dumbasses in the tech industry fix this?
Back in the 90’s I remember hearing that almost everyone in Chicago had a password based on Bulls, Jordan, MJ, and/or 23.
1 2 3 4 5? That’s amazing, I have the same combination on my luggage.
Back in the late 90’s I used to brute force the password hash on our servers to test for security. I’d email anyone who’s password got cracked in less than 12 hours. Most of those got cracked in less than 10 minutes.
The company was mostly phone sales, so those guys had the worst passwords. Cash, money, Porsche, etc.
I quit when I started finding out too many inappropriate things about people from their weak passwords. Like who they were banging (not their wife) or maybe something closeted, or some weird fetish.
Back then I also used to warn the sales guys with this admonition…. “please, don’t make me have to check your web logs or your email archive. I don’t want to know. So don’t do it here”.

OT musings….
I’ve been watching “The Promise” the last couple nights before I fall asleep. It’s pretty derivative of every other wartime melodrama but the backdrop is the Armenian Genocide.
What’s the progressive position on the Armenian Genocide. Are Armenians higher on the victim pyramid or are they Armenian Genocide deniers because it doesn’t fit the icky Christians/oppressed Muslim narrative?
the backdrop is the Armenian Genocide
So it’s fiction then, like Schindler’s List?
It depends on whether acknowledging the genocide hurts or helps Trump.
^LOL. So true, it’s really stupid of me to expect them to take any position at all beyond what supports their narrative on any given day
The Armenian genocide was perpetrated by the Turks.
Turks are Muslims, and Trump is mad at them. Ergo, the Armenian genocide either (a) never happened or (b) the Armenians got what they deserved.
From my limited understanding of the history, it seems that, like in most of these situations, the Armenians were a wealthy, disarmed ethnic minority and pent-up envy was a huge contributing factor.
I feel slightly vindicated in my paranoid delusions that the radical left would lynch people like me (or worse) given half a chance.
I really hate that I’m forced to defend Trump, but there is some serious Banana Republic bullshit going on, and if they actually succeed in removing him from office, I encourage armed militias to take action. (oh, hi FBI!)
We park our cars in the same garage. The #RESIST bullshit completely drowns out the many substantive criticisms to be made about Trump by cranking up the volume to 13 on spurious garbage.
Want to hear something impressively stupid?
The Romanian government want to tax cryptocurrencies and they decided to tax 10% of transaction value when you sell. SO not 10% of gain… So if you but lets say 5000 worth of crypto, it goes down and you sell for 4000 you also pay 400 tax on that.

I don’t know why we aren’t going full in on supporting the Sauds. They are woke as fuck.
What does a Secaucus woman have to do with the Sauds? Well if you read further you will see that the name of the Secaucus woman is Alia Imad Faleh Al Hunaity.
I don’t know about you, but lesbian marrying a poor woman just to keep her in the country seems like a very altruistic act. Sure she made her work for free, but haven’t feminists been saying for years that that happens to every wife?
You could always pick out the Saudis in La Jolla back in the 90s. They were the only ones wearing black trenchcoats on 97 degree weather.
They were also uniformly arrogant assholes.
They were the only ones wearing black trenchcoats on 97 degree weather.
Columbine ruined fashion.
The Saudis wore the leather versions. Much classier, sort of like the Matrix.
I’m sure it’s just a cultural misunderstanding. We shouldn’t deny her lived experience of growing up in a country where this is SOP.
But the lack of development in the area is part of project leaders’ argument for building a new trail there. A path through the mostly industrial section of Minneapolis, as well as more commercial and residential portions in northeast, would open the areas up to more people, they said.

blows for those breweries losing their deposits.
anyone know which breweries use the cheaper Chinese equipment?
my local brewery used a Portland company for their production metalwork. it may have been Metal Craft which is closed now.
It also hurts that a similar situation happened with a company based out of Ohio earlier this year.
Ukraine-Russia tensions reach Greece’s holy Mount Athos
Orthodox church’s decision to make Ukrainian branch independent of Russia causes schism and predictions of violence
https://www.theguardian.com/world/2018/dec/14/ukraine-russia-tensions-reach-greeces-holy-mount-athos
For centuries, Orthodox men have come to Mount Athos, a closed peninsula in northern Greece, to sequester themselves away from the everyday concerns of the outside world. The only entrance is by boat, and women are strictly forbidden to set foot on the territory. Male pilgrims, after receiving a special permit, can visit to confess and seek counsel from the 2,000 monks at the 20 monasteries and smaller “cells” dotted along the hilly shoreline
All is not well in Orthodoxy currently, with a split linked to Russia’s war in Ukraine causing a schism and dark talk of violence among the various Orthodox churches. Bartholomew of Constantinople, known as the ecumenical patriarch and the “first among equals” of the Orthodox patriarchs, agreed in October to give autocephaly to the Ukrainian Orthodox church, essentially making it an independent church. Patriarch Kirill of the Russian church, which regards Ukraine as its domain, responded furiously and announced a split from the ecumenical patriarch.
Kirill has banned Russians from taking holy communion in the churches of Athos, calling any priests who bless the ecumenical patriarch schismatics, leading to a dilemma for those Russians who want to visit.
Sort of OT: As some know, I recently left Fedgov to work on my own. As part of my work, I need to bid on Federal contracts. To do that I need to register with them with the System for Award Management-SAM (get a DUNS number, fill out web forms, wait for background checks, etc.). Well, upon doing so, I get a call within 2 days from someone claiming to need verification of my info and telling me there is a $3500 yearly registration fee. Obviously, I got suspicious since I knew there was no such fee and told him I wasn’t willing to do so. Then I got another call a day later asking for more verification from someone else. Bottom line: the database you put all your info into is searchable and available to scammers.
Thanks fuckers!!!
Yup. I get bombarded on a daily basis with emails from bullshit companies that purport to be the SBA, when in effect they are merely managing your registration with the SBA for a very steep fee.
I get bombarded with scams re my trademarks. All my info in the gubmint database is public.
This week, the Trump administration said it would weaken federal clean water rules designed to protect millions of acres of wetlands and thousands of miles of streams from pesticide runoff and other pollutants.
There’s your trouble. They always confuse intent with effect.
Those amended water rules caused a massive freakout up here, because it was obvious the EPA knows jack shit about water in the west.
Sure they do. Eliminate any land use withing line-of-sight distance of any surface water and render grazing impossible.
/used to subscribe to Range Magazine
I like the designation of any low-lying area that collects water after a rainstorm as a “wetland”, even if it was created artificially (remember the case where the local government cut down a bunch of trees and it blocked up a drainage ditch, flooding a couple’s front yard? ) and even if it is only “wet” for a few days each year.
Eminent Domain via seasonal flooding. Most people are blissfully unaware of how gestapo-like our government can be when you have land they decide they want. The media made sure the only thing the public knew about the Mahlure Refuge thing was “ZOMG White Nationalists” rather than two guys getting sentenced to jail for years for trying to save their house from a grass fire.
This is the same thinking that got us 20 year mandatory minimums for possession of crack.
The ratchet only goes one way, it tightens, never loosens. Because if you are for less criminalization of drugs, you are for killing babies. And if you are for fixing over-reaching regulations, you are against clean drinking water and clean air. Basically, you want people to die…. (cue Remey)
Time for a conversation on homelessness.
Yeah, you racist shitlords need to confess to your racist crimes and give us money.
Homelessness is all racist. And don’t even try to point out that the homeless Indians in Minneapolis are about 10 miles from two fabulously wealthy tribes who own casinos and have done nothing to help.

“Miley Cyrus reveals mother Tish ‘smokes more pot than anyone I know’ during Tonight Show appearance
The Wrecking Ball singer said that Tish, 51, was critical of her when she started smoking weed as if the singer was some sort of ‘little devil’.
‘Now she smokes more pot than anyone I know,’ Miley spilled.
She said that Tish and her father Billy Ray, 57, ‘smoke together and play with these hummingbirds’.
Miley said the hummingbirds all move slow because her father overfeeds them.
She said her parents have named the hummingbirds and called it their ‘little magic time, smoking weed’.
‘That’s why I’m so weird,’ she added.”

You don’t want no part of that shit.
I remember hanging out with friends that had little kids in the house and pot being smoked right in front of them. In retrospect, not so great. Mind you, I’m pretty sure that my parents were “swingers” in the early 70’s sense which is probably more damaging to a little kid’s psyche.

Good for her for going with less harmful coping mechanisms. I’m sure that having Miley as daughter could destroy a liver very quickly.
“Actress Eliza Dushku reveals she was written off CBS series after reporting her co-star for sexual harassment – which the network tried to bury with a secret $9.5M settlement
The report claims that the two actors – who played love interests – got along well in the beginning and that Dushku thought Weatherly ‘seemed friendly’.
Things took a turn after Weatherly allegedly made a series of comments in front of other cast and crew members that made Dushku uncomfortable – including remarks about her appearance, a rape joke and a mention of having a threesome.
Dushku, who says she had been told by Bull producer and writer Glenn Gordon Caron that her character would become more prominent, flagged the comments up to the network.
Soon after she was pushed off the show out of what she claims to be retaliation.”

The effort to un-person Michel Houellebecq has begun, because he said that Trump was a “great president”.
Also, this guy who says that the book “Submission” is “racist” has obviously never read the book, since the bulk of the criticism is leveled against Western elites. And he was apparently absolutely correct. Western elites are boorish and dumb (so incredibly dumb). And they apparently haven’t read any book since Harry Potter.

An overview of what Houellebecq said about Trump
I haven’t read Houellebecq, but now I’m going to. He’s interesting and seems to be logically consistent, which is far better than most of the writers out there today.
You should read him just for the fact that his message is not the same tired status quo perspective.
Few times I’ve been around that track
So it’s not just gonna happen like that

I will say this, the Russian Collusion Narrative has been wildly successful. We are now arming and training Ukrainians and a shooting war may be imminent. And our relationship with Russia is probably more precarious than it has been since the Cold War.

“Democrat On Why He Voted to Prolong Yemen War: ‘I Don’t Know a Damn Thing About It’
The addition of a pro-famine clause to the annual farm bill struck many Republican lawmakers as odd: When the rule came up for a vote Wednesday, 18 GOP House members voted against it. But the measure passed 206-203 anyway — because five Democratic congressmen (they were, indeed, all men) voted in favor.
One of those Democrats was Minnesota’s Collin Peterson. Shortly after the vote, the Washington Post’s Jeff Stein asked Peterson about his rationale for backing the indefinite extension of a brutal war”
http://nymag.com/intelligencer/2018/12/colin-peterson-yemen-rule-farm-bill-saudi-war.html
Why didn’t the Washington Post ask any of the Democrats who voted to end the War in Yemen now why they didn’t support the numerous pieces of legislation crafted by Tulsi Gabbard and Massie to end American support of the conflict during the Obama administration?
Because Reasons! Duh!
They should also ask the Republican representatives who voted against this why they love murder so much.
Not a single person in this whole fiasco has done anything “brave” with the exception of Tulsi Gabbard (who was attacked by the Left for opposing this conflict under the Obama administration) and Massie who is clearly the heir to Ron Paul, with regards to foreign policy
I thought these folks knew everything, that’s why we vote them in!
Peterson represents my home town (and I sort of know his kid from back in the day).
His big claim to fame back home is that he can deliver the farm goodies. He isn’t going to do anything to keep that farm bill from passing. He’s already been telling his constituents that they should thank him for getting this done.
He is also doubleplusungood because he is solidly pro-2A.

From the comments – “Cops love the racist and fascistic nature of this administration.” This?
…so…does this apply to the natural world? Because praying mantises, for instance, practice natural childbirth and I would hesitate to refer to their social organizations (to the extent that they have them) as patriarchal. Also, the implication here is that in the absence of technology one of the most fundamental processes of life is, at it’s core, an expression of male dominance. Which is to say that the natural state of humanity, if not all life, is patriarchy. Is that a road she wants to go down?

LOL. My sister’s contractor tiled over the HVAC outlets in her new bathroom.
Was he a relative that always claims that he’s “smahhhrt”?
when I took the carpeting off of the stairs, I found a set of cold air intakes. And I always wondered why my poor heater struggled all winter.
Carpet and padding as a filter?
It worked so well that no dust ever got into that duct!
Ouch. I saw a drywall guy go over a window once.
Beware the low bid, people!
Construction is in dire need of more qualified personnel these days, but everybody wants to be a mobile game designer.
I’ve moved into construction since leaving the trucking business, as I dabbled in it here and there over the years in between gigs, mostly roofing, drywall, and cabinetry.
Construction, if it wants more qualified personnel, also needs to start paying more money. The GCs and sub-contractors can’t expect to siphon everything off the top and pay people not much more than minimum wage.
I’m having a hard time finding anyone here who wants to pay north of 18 bucks an hour.
That’s very true.
Just had a discussion with a customer who was complaining that his equipment and tooling wasn’t performing as it should. I had to tell him that the problem lies with him and the meth-head morons he puts on his jobsites. He took it surprisingly well.
Related story – when I first relocated to Ithaca after my last sojourn to Oz, I went to talk to a local forestry guy who had a couple of logging trucks. Did a test drive, spent a day checking out his operations, went and did the pee test. Then, after telling me how difficult it was to find good drivers that don’t damage equipment, and show up for work every day, he offers me 14 bucks an hour.
I says to him – my last job in Australia paid me 42 an hour. I know this ain’t Oz, how about we start at 18 and renegotiate after I prove my worth? He wouldn’t budge, and said that I could have made up my entire resume out of thin air.
Have fun with the losers who keep breaking your trucks, asshole.
Hey Tundra, did you see the Wild game last night? The last half of the third period is an example of the discussion about a changing NHL. Not too long ago that goal disparity with less than 10 minutes left would produce a fight. It looked like Zucker might get into one, but he’s too smart for that. He was trying to bait the other guy.
I did – it was a helluva game!
I believe in playing until the final buzzer, regardless of the score. Florida has a great PP, so I’m sure the Wild were coached to stay out of the box. But yeah, good on 16 for skating away. Now, if they could get him to finish…
Agreed on all counts. I’m curious to see what happens Saturday against the Flames after their last meeting – bad blood over Koivu injury, will Koivu return and what do you do with that red-hot line if he does?
I hope they just play. One phenomenon of the new NHL is this stupid need to retaliate for a legal, good hit. Did Dumba crush that dude? Of course! The game was still going strong and the kid came through with his head down. No need for his teammate to jump 24.
Take the number and wait for your chance. Like it has always been.
The hit on Koivu was more clumsy than malicious. Taking a dude’s knee is dumb.
I’d absolutely leave that line together and ride it out. Koivu is gonna show us what kind of teammate he is when he returns. The smart play is to put him between Greenway and Kunin. That would actually be a great line, imo. Having a steady defensive center with two shooters is a cool combination.
What do you think?
I’m not really a hockey guy. I just love watching it, especially when it’s a local team. It has far surpassed the NFL in watchability. The NFL is a joke anymore. Mainly I just don’t see how you would break up that line. Boudreau played coy in his presser, but I can’t believe he would go back to original lines and break up that chemistry (Coneheads FTW!). Also, Koivu isn’t getting any younger. Maybe time to get the youngsters a shot.
…………………..
Did he cement board over it too? Or he just used a piece of tile to go over it.
Backer board and tile
At least he was committed to his stupidity.
I’m sure he just forgot to go back and cut it out with one of those rotary-zip saws. /sarc
Somebody mentioned a sub-par contractor using extension cord in the walls to save a few bucks. I’ve seen heat tape laid along water pipes without insulation. Yes, staples through wiring is also pretty common. Drunks and crack-heads do not a fine manse build.
Being around the business for a while, I’ve seen some wild stuff.
One of my personal favorites was the toilet throne in a basement where a section of the concrete floor was raised a foot and a half to get the necessary drop in the septic line.
Wifey and I’s first home was a trailer with an addition. Talk about non-Euclidian geometry! It’s a wonder that our kids turned out fairly normal, aside from the hare-lips and a certain yearning for the sea…
You should see my dad’s house. Original farmhouse from late 1800’s with multiple additions and an attached garage used for storage now. I’m not sure how it’s still standing, between the terrible wiring and the obviously lacking structure tacked together. I recently removed all the sentimental guns he owns, since I don’t want to see them destroyed in a fire.
Unpossible! We have licensing, certification, and government inspectors to make sure that never happens!!
“My sister’s contractor tiled over the HVAC outlets in her new bathroom.”
Did your sister’s contractor stumble down that career by working for a public utility? This all sounds familiar to me.

https://twitter.com/SenSanders/status/1073271330823397376
Is Judge Napolitano right? Is it a felony? Do they have hardcore evidence? What does this have to do with Russia?
Bernie Sanders is a dim bulb, but I’ll give him this: posting a favorable reference to an Andrew Napolitano interview from Fox News that’s anti-Trump has got his followers shook. That’s platinum club trolling right there. You can just picture the smoke pouring out of their ears as they try to figure out how to square all those circles.
This is how they do it:
In my limited experience with viewing cable “news” FNC has its bias, but it is is way more “fair and balanced” than the other major networks.
you think it matters that the search warrant was for meth and they find kiddie porn but no meth?
They are beyond “investigating specific crimes” now. They have their boot-covered foot in the door…
It has nothing to do with Russia (which everyone shut up about all of a sudden), but Judge Napolitano is probably right. He’s a straight shooter.
Does anyone remember when the Judge was mercilessly attacked for suggesting that the whole Russia fever dreams was not on the up and up and that the FISA warrant was attained illegally? He was suspended for that and it appears he was right on that point too
It looks like Popehat, who is also less prone to spurious bullshit, thinks Trump and the gang are in much hotter water.
https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/2018/12/mueller-briefs-bad-news-trump-manafort-and-cohen/577681/
I think this is the core accusation that everyone is so excited about:
Now, whether that is even a campaign finance violation at all is highly debatable. If it is, it falls well below the threshold that has traditionally been handled with a fine. And Trump has a defense here that others don’t – the advice of counsel defense, which basically says that if you do something after being advised by your lawyer that its legal, and that advice is reasonable, then you don’t have the necessary intent to break the law.
Its the same old shit, just recycled again and again.
Which isn’t to say that the House won’t deem a minor campaign finance violation an impeachable offense, and impeach him for it. But the notion that this is some grave criminal offense that people will do time for is ludicrous. Again, that’s not to say that our weaponized law enforcement complex won’t jail somebody for it.
He should get the FBI to come out and say that it was technically a violation, but really Trump was just reckless with his hush money and that no prudent prosecutor would bring a case against him.
The odds that Trump committed a felony while involved in NYC real estate development are probably about 1493%.
Cohen is a shitweasel who’s trying to save his own skin so I expect if he has anything at all (and it seems that much like an actual weasel he likes to keep everything) he will use it.
Looks like another President may get impeached over sex
Nap is disappointing here. He is basically saying that because federal prosecutors accuse someone of a crime, they must be guilty, because federal prosecutors can only do that if they have good evidence that a crime has been committed.
Now, its odd indeed for federal prosecutors to send someone to prison for years, after complaining that they didn’t cooperate, when that person has given them the hard evidence they asked for.
Construction is in dire need of more qualified personnel these days, but everybody wants to be a mobile game designer.
If “construction” was something necessary to a vital and equitable society, Harvard and Yale would offer “construction” degrees.
I wish my Dad had taught me basic skills when I was a pup. He could do it all but chose not to (being white-collar and all). I had to figger all that shit on my own and the learning curve is steep and still pains me.
I had to teach myself a lot of those skills – my dad still says, when I mention car problems: “That’s why God made mechanics”.
I’m proud to say that I’ve twice pulled engines out of cars, built a new engine, and put it back into the car. Even more amazingly, they ran trouble free for thousands of miles. And I do my own electrical work.
I just wish I wasn’t a lousy carpenter.
#metoo. Seconded on the carpentry ( I can and do build stuff within reason) but I never learned to weld.
I’m a decent carpenter, particularly finish. I’m a decent mechanic. I can do plumbing, but I hate it. I can handle electrical.
But welding? I’m awful. They hold, but christ are they ugly!
I like your dad. He seems like a smart guy.
Greasy, black fingernails kinda hurt the sales pitch when you are selling insurance. My Dad was falling hundred-foot trees well into his sixties. He could do it when he had to.
Sometimes even the most basic of all skills can be handy. Like when I woke up this morning and the house was cold, so I checked the thermostat and the screen was blank. So I pull the cover and change the batteries.
My fiancee comes home, asks how the heat was on, and when I explain about batteries — and then pull the cover to show her it is indeed powered by AAA batteries — she cancels a $120 service call to fix the broken thermostat.
Inquisitiveness FTW
Checking the thermostat. Step #1
always.
I just had someone look at my HVAC unit and it was the same problem. Never occurred to me there were batteries inside the thermostat. Yes, I felt stupid.
Does “parallel reconstruction” count?

My understanding has always been that the IQ averages are about the same but the distributions are larger for men.
“men are bimodal and women cluster around the mean”
Men are not bimodal. There seems to be a moderately flatter distribution curve, but it is still a normal bell curve just less tightly clustered around the mean.
Yeah, it’s not entirely accurate, but it’s nonetheless a phrase I’ve heard used many times.
Bi-mode is much more common in women than men.
We have bigger brains so we can fill them up with images of bigger breasts. Duh.
My Booty Image Collector (BIC) is working just fine, even in its overloaded condition. And the Gaydar still works with high-efficiency.
My MILF Sensor, however, must be on the fritz as I don’t find older women (at my age) very attractive at all.
ie it can’t transition into GILF-mode.
Time to transition into dirty old man.
My gaydar is hilariously bad. It has been the source of multiple amusing anecdotes.
It has improved, somewhat, with age though “gay or European?” is still a toss-up.
Oh My.
The dark night of IQ pseudoscience is forever falling on those bigots who’ll use it to justify their ethnostate and/or Handmaid’s Tale dystopia, yet the Roosh Vs and Richard Spencers aren’t anywhere near as influential or damaging as the people demanding scientific opaqueness on these matters. I mean, it’s one thing to say that IQ differences might explain some part of the variances in success or criminality between races or sexes; but to demand that no such differences exist on pain of excommunication has resulted in, well, rather toxic social theories that all but preclude achievement for the people they’re intended to boost.
They’re fearful that such research might someday be used to reignite the old eugenics agenda of yesterday’s progressives because it might discredit and displace today’s programs of social eugenics. At least the latter mostly involves batty moral suasion sometimes backed by awful legal precedents, rather than sterilization and euthanasia. So far.
Orange man inevitable
“unhinged executive power”?
I cannot think of an executive that has been rebuked by Congress (even when his own party controlled both houses) on foreign policy more often. Trump is probably the most restrained executive (not by his own accord, no doubt, but due to “orange man bad” mentality among elites) in the past forty years.
Orange man framed?
A reminder of just a few restrictions that Congress has imposed:
-Congress passes a law forbidding Trump from reducing sanctions against Russia, unless they specifically vote to allow such action
-Trump is unable to fire the special counsel (not an independent counsel like the one under Clinton), because his own party in Congress threatens to pass a law to forbid him from doing so
-The Senate just passed a motion demanding an end to American support for the Saudis in the Yemen War
This of course will pass as soon as the next president is a Democrat, no doubt. Then Congress attempting to restrain or dictate to the executive will be dubbed by the press as “Congress stifling the will of the American people”.
Get fucked. This is like a bizarro world where we’re all pretending that what is happening is not actually happening.
Are these bad?
No. Congress reigning in the executive is good. The Yemen vote was good.
The other two not really.
This of course will pass
Just only restraining Trump is good too. I’m arguing that the notion that Trump has exercised “unhinged executive power” is nuts. Obviously this is not due to him, but rather the pervasive notion among the elite that “orange man bad”.
I read the article as saying that the powers of the Presidency were unhinged before Trump got there. Which is obviously true.
Beyond that, any denunciation of Trump is fine. Because: why not shoot a president?
“Beyond that, any denunciation of Trump is fine. Because: why not shoot a president?”
Yeah, agreed.
What I’m saying is that Trump’s presidency has been more restrained by Congress more than any president over the past forty years and to suggest otherwise is willful blindness.
I am fine if Congress is only going to restrain Trump (because we all know that it won’t last), but again let’s be honest then.
I can really get on board with that third one.
Well, the one not firing one of his own fucking employees, is, yes. The idea that a prosecutor should be able to do whatever the fuck they want to anybody they want with zero risk for being removed is a pretty bad idea, IMO.
Well, since Russia turned out to be a fart in a windstorm, apparently they are going after Saudi connections. They loathe him.
Yes, they are combing through the finances for his inauguration now.
Now, I would be much less exercised about this if I thought there was any chance in hell that any future President would be subjected to the same scrutiny. But this isn’t about the rule of law, this is about a partisan political operation embedded in an unaccountable bureaucracy which is pursuing illegitimate goals.
They loathe him.
Honestly, I don’t think it’s about loathing at this point. We’re dealing with nomenklatura that are competing amongst themselves to be the most dedicated to the cause. It’s Orwellian.
“What Really Happened in Helltown Ohio”
Has anyone here ever heard of this? The National Park Service used imminent domain to acquire 35000 acres in Ohio and destroyed three townships in the process (about 18 min):

This random YouTube guy put together a hell of a fine little documentary here that should be shown in every classroom in the nation.
The National Park Service is full of little totalitarian shits.
Man i couldn’t listen to that little shitstain talk about how the individual property owner needed to be subservient to the “needs” of the many. Why the fuck would the many “need” one more National Park and these people not “need” their home.
Thanks to whoever linked to Barstool Sports the other day – I hadn’t looked at it in awhile but that led me to this fantastic video of lacrosse from back in the day.
Brutal. It’s like I’m back in high school.
