Now that we’ve assembled a passable Caisson, we can move on to the main body of the scratch build. To start with we need to make sure it can hold the weight of the model. While on the human scale, the main model is light, on the scale of the styrene we’re working with, it has a bit of heft. So the basic chassis is going to be a ladder frame of the thicker box tube. As I measure it out to fit the appropriate width of the model, I make a discovery – I cannot cut the box tube squarely. Every slice has a deviation from perpendicular, and there is a variation in length. Not huge, but enough that they will not all have that great of a contact surface on both ends if the ladder frame is assembled hollow. I found this out when the ladder frame fell apart. So Plan B – I take the ladder frame and assemble it on a sheet of plasticard, gluing it to the flat surface. Once glued down, I take a pair of scissors and cut the ladder framed section off the main card. The particular sheet I used was the same one I’d taken the Caisson parts from, so there was a notch already cut into the board. It was also thin enough to cut with regular scissors and not fail catastrophically. I then took little scraps of plasticard sheeting and reinforced the joints on the side facing away from the sheet.
The platform is now very sturdy and will serve as a proper base for the remainder of our work. But it’s ugly, you might say, and I’d agree with you. It is also the underside. People will not be getting a good look at the kludged face of it. They will be seeing the perfectly uniform sheet that we glued the box tubing to. The next step is to position the ‘bearings’. They’re not real bearings, they’re just short sections of box tubing through which the axles will run. But they do fill the important role of attaching the platform to the axles, and thus the wheels. When I first set about planning this, I realized that the slope would be defined by the front and rear wheels, and the middle wheels will be a bit tricky. So I positioned the bearings for the front and rear axles and began brainstorming. I’d initially envisioned short posts which would hold the middle bearings at the proper level below the plane of the platform. This idea got torpedoed by the inability to get precise lengths on the box tubing.
After going through a couple of possible ideas in my head, I decided that the best move would be one which did not depend upon my precision to keep the middle wheels on the proper level. I was inspired by a leaf spring. With the flexibility of plasticard sheeting (or at least the flexibility of the thickness I was using), I could have the bearing for the middle wheels float, and the weight of the model would hold them against the surface underneath. I could have made independent suspensions for two bearings on the middle axle, but I was worried about the strength of such a structure. I had a panel of a good enough width, and a length of box tubing long enough to make a suitable bearing along that width, so I affixed one spring to the front end of the platform and under the front bearings, thus holding the middle axle at whatever height was appropriate for the surface the model rested upon.
There was much rejoicing.
Yay.
The rejoicing stopped as I turned my attention to the question of keeping the wheels on the axles. Initially, I rejected the idea of gluing them in place. On the Caisson, I’d capped the axle with bitz large enough to prevent the wheels from sliding off. I had no more of them, so I started looking for alternatives. Inspiration struck as I spied by collection of skulls. Not real skulls, mind, but plastic ones for decorating miniatures in Grimdark. So far I’d only used one, and I’d paid good money for them. And the Ork skulls looked just the right size to act as hubcaps. So I started futzing about with the correct angle to trim the end of the axles to get enough plastic to plastic contact to make sure the skullcaps don’t fall off. When I realized I’d trimmed an axle too short, I asked myself why I was going to such trouble to avoid gluing the wheels in place.
The answer was simple – I didn’t want to work with superglue.
Whining aside, I realized that the simplest way to get the look I wanted was to glue the axle into the wheel and glue the skullcap on the hub. Then I could adjust alignment by simply nudging the skull while the glue was still wet. So, I got out my superglue, cut the axles to the proper length, and affixed the wheels and caps on one end of the axles. Then it was simply a matter of sliding the axles into the proper bearings and gluing the wheels on the other end. I waited until the wheels were dry before attaching the other set of skulls. That way I only needed to worry about lining them up, and not that I was going to dislodge the alignment of the wheel as I did. Why persist with the skullcaps when their purpose was no longer relevant. Two reasons – one, I had grown attached to the visual; two – I’d already cut them from the sprue and cleaned up the attachment points. I could have thrown them in the Bitz box, but there was scant little decoration on this wagon chassis as it was.
Speaking of decoration, at some point I took the flag from the chariot kit, extended the flagpole, and attached it to the back of the chassis. I also attached a not-so-random towhook under the back end. This towhook is for the Caisson. While all of this was going on, I was also spray-priming the animals and the Caisson. It had gotten up to forty out, and I wanted to take advantage of the warm weather. The assembly of the main chassis took so long that the sun had set before I was spraying that component. Luckily, my spray area is indoors, and I had light to see by. Unluckily, I had an open window sending all my warm indoor air into the cold outdoor air.
The wheels on the wagon go round and round?
No, we put chocks on them, they’re not going anywhere.
Lol! That’s some good detail work.
I found myself whistling that tune under my breath while reading the article.

Meh. I have enough disappointment in meatspace from doing left-hand checks. I’m not going to start doing it in my fantasy life as well.
Relevant.
Of course. FWIW if you wanna talk IRL I’m sure she has actually already looked right through me on a Legacy sidewalk.
Where do you live?
No idea who she is but the #bluewave video she’s promoting seems at odds with her mini-bio.
I don’t have sound on my work computer but I’m pretty sure it’s a parody video. Scroll down and there is a bunch of stuff making fun of #getoutthevote
“All you had to do was vote. But you didn’t. And now I’m dead. All women are dead. And it’s your fault.”
Well the left is beyond parody these day so…….sincere?

Watch the video.
The Modeling Libertarian supports a hypothesis I have: people who make/grow/build/move/install things are more realistic folk and therefore more tend to the libertarian view (capitalist, low regulation) than the talking classes (marketing, sales, law, teaching).
Not a slam on anyone, just a trend maybe . . . with many happy exceptions here.
UCS isn’t a libertarian, as he’s fond of pointing out.
And what about those of us who are in IT?
I have another notion about digital Glibs types: I figure most of y’all went libertarian because you’re familiar with all the NSA stuff and quickly came to understand that government is evil and quickly inferred that the best government is the smallest government.
In the early days of computer geekdom, there was a strong libertarian component running through it. You had the early cypherpunks preaching the gospel of encryption on everything. There was a strong anti-authoritarian element running through the culture as well. I always put it down to the fact that computers are black and white, either the operation works or it doesn’t. The box either boots up or it doesn’t. There’s not really much grey area, and troubleshooting rewards finding true causality. If I do X, Y happens; if I do A, Y happens; if I do F, Y should happen, but Z happens instead.
Unfortunately, that streak of libertarianism has faded a lot over the years… look at Silicon Valley.
As a developer/consultant I also learned quickly to assume the worst about everyone. If that isn’t realism, I don’t know what is.
We also tend to keep seeing product/technology/gizmo/etc promoted as a “total paradigm shift” only to have it turn into a segway, iWatch, Google Glass, etc. That tends to make you a bit jaded.
I think paradigm shifts come from products where the general reaction is “Who needs that?” and never from those where the salesfolk tout it as such.
True. Let’s see, in my lifetime I’d put the following as such:
1) The Internet
2) Cell phones
3) Social media (I didn’t say they were all good)
4) Streaming media (audio/video)

PA AG subpoenas Gab’s new registrar..
https://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2018/11/gab-cries-foul-as-pennsylvania-attorney-general-subpoenas-dns-provider/
Eric Goldman, a legal scholar at Santa Clara University, told us that the law is clear that Gab would not be liable for hosting content from the Pittsburgh shooter. Not only are the posts likely protected by the First Amendment, but a law called Section 230 gives service providers like Gab—not to mention upstream service providers like GoDaddy and Epik—an extra layer of protection against liability for user-submitted content.
So then what is Pennsylvania’s attorney general investigating? Shapiro’s office hasn’t returned emails and a phone call asking about that. But two legal scholars I talked to for this story couldn’t think of a legitimate reason for seeking these kinds of documents.
“I struggle to see a legit basis for this,” said Ken White, a First Amendment attorney and the proprietor of the popular Popehat blog.
Seeking information about Gab’s DNS provider “doesn’t make any sense at all,” legal scholar Eric Goldman told us.
Dammit, first Kane and now this idiot? Our attorney general track record is shit.
Seems like most AG offices are turning into social justice and/or shake down outfits. It’s disgusting.
I blame you guys in New York. We learned it from watching you!
But yeah, AG’s across the county seem to have a problem sticking to state level issues these days.
“social justice and/or shake down outfits”
You repeat yourself.
^^^^THIS^^^^
Why do you think Brother Keith gave up his seat in Congress?
I think he sees the Minnesoda AG office as a way to cause all sorts of troubles.
Oh it makes perfect sense. It’s harassment.
It might violate the NAP, but goddamn I really want to see this guy eat a fist.
I’m just so worn out by this shit. I don’t get it. I think socialism is possibly the most evil ideology ever foisted upon the human race. I this leftist ideologies lead to poverty, bondage and violence and ultimately strip it’s unsuspecting victims of their humanity. I think it’s the one system that truly ushers in the rule of the 1% over the subjugated and enslaved 99%.
And yet despite my passionate stance the idea of screaming in one of it’s proponents faces and throwing a toddler-esque temper tantrum in public has never appealed to me.
I am seeing more and more of that, leftists that are unhinged and out of control parroting at the top of their lungs vapid, meaningless talking points straight off of the cult’s list. They cant explain or defend any of it, they just know the generic list and accuse a wide range of people of identical offenses. Their behavior is completely irrational. They really are brainwashed and I find it disturbing.
What is going to happen to these people? It is indistinguishable from mental illness. I suspect that they will eventually become homeless or suicidal, I just wonder what the half life of crazy is.
This sort of behavior is where the NPC meme came from…
I’m more concerned about what’s going to happen to the rest of us when they get into positions of power. This is what happens when they do.
As it stands that cant happen here. Every time you hear some mealy-mouthed cunt nugget call for common sense gun control remind them that if they get what they want when the confiscators show up at your house, you wont be there. You will be at cunt nugget’s house.

I had key parts of my hot water heater crap out. It lost both the ‘hot’ and the ‘heater’ parts, becoming just a water tank. Replacing the parts was more than half the cost of a full replacement, and the unit was getting old. So instead of paying 60-70% now then 100% again in a few years, I went and had the whole thing swapped out.
It cost me good writing time. I’m only at about 2700 words today. Other days this week I passed 5-6k by noon-1pm.
Yesterday I hit 11,769 words by the time I went to bed – a personal best.
I got a call last night. An elderly relative’s hot water heater was out. “Please come by and just push the reset button. I cant get down there.”
The last storm front that came through a week ago spawned a few tornadoes and our area was torn up pretty badly. A tree top twisted off and tore the electric line, breaker boxes and meter from her house. After it was repaired something was wrong.
The reset button on the hwh was fine. I checked the breaker box. It was fine. We were standing in the living room discussing the problem when she mentioned that she had some hinkey problems with one wall. She tried to turn on a lamp plugged into that wall. Nothing. She reached down and hit the switch on her power bar.
Pow! Pop! ZZZZZZZZ. The lights went out. I unplugged everything from that wall and went back to the breaker box. One breaker had one pole tripped. Everything is unplugged, right? I turned it back on. Pow! Pop! ZZZZZZZZZ. This time I could smell ozone and burned plastic strongly. There was a slight haze of smoke in the kitchen. I quickly went outside and turned off the main power.
“Ok. You cant stay here tonight. The house may be on fire right now. It could smolder half the night and blaze up when you are in bed. It could be blazing right now in the wall or attic where we cant see it. We have to go. Grab your meds, your dog and a pair of pants. Now. You are staying in my guest bedroom tonight.”
The electrician is there now trying to sort it out.
Fun times. I feel for you UnCiv.
Damn that sucks. Good on you for doing what you did, many people would have no idea what to do in that situation.
I just bought a 7000W generator because I lose power so often. I’m actually looking forward to the next time a tree takes out the powerline on my road.
Hot water tanks seem to be disposable anymore. Seems like 10 years is really the upper limit. A coworker of mine is looking to replace his, I told him if he intends to stay in the house for a while to just bite the bullet and install on-demand.
/Not an expert
“Seems like 10 years is really the upper limit.”
You shut your mouth!
*refuses to calculate age of hwh*

“Tell me about it!” – OMWC
Gas or electric? I just had to replace my gas water heater after 25 years. It rusted through the cast iron boiler. The plumber when installing my new one needed to put a expansion tank on the supply and output lines. He indicated that the new heaters have a weak glass liner that can eventfully break due to the pressure hammering it.
“The effects of thermal expansion can have a detrimental effect on the service life expectancy of a water heater. The water heater is a pressure vessel made in most cases from steel with a glass lining applied to the inside of the tank to prevent corrosion. As the pressure increases in the tank from the supplied water pressure to the 150-psi where the relief valve opens the tank will start to bulge from the added pressure. Then when the added pressure is released the tank will spring back to its original shape. These two events combine to become a pressure cycle and contribute to cracking of the glass lining exposing the steel to water causing corrosion and also metal fatigue which will eventually cause the metal to crack at points such a seams where the top and bottom of the tank are welded on. In a worst-case scenario with a failed T&P valve not opening the pressure increase may cause the tank to permanently bulge, which would result in the tank having to be replaced. Installing a thermal expansion tank will eliminate pressure cycling greatly increasing the service life expectancy of your water heater.”
Like I said, not an expert, mostly just regurgitating what I’m told. Like microwaves, refrigerators, washing machines, etc. water tanks just don’t have the shelf-life they once had according to a lot of the tradesman type guys I talk to.

10 years? Even for the tankless?
Glass? They can’t find another method of corrosion resistance?
What are you in the bag for BIG PLASTIC or BIG FIBERGLASS or BIG CARBON FIBER? Glass is surely the only thing that can do the job.
damnit, should have been ‘in the tank’ instead of ‘in the bag’…
Big law, actually. Come to think of it, shitty water heaters lead to more lawsuits… carry on, water heater manufacturers, carry on.
Mine is electric.
Caput is in the bag for Big Galvanized.
My gas WH made it to 12 years before it decided to start leaking.
Misery loves company. Mine conked out on sunday. Put in a new thermostat/gas-valve yesterday afternoon.

Ace of Spades has a good point – since CNN wouldn’t shut up about how the fake bomber was Trump’s responsibility, and since CNN has defended the group SmashRacism, the group that harrassed Carlson’s family at their home, on multiple occasions…..when is CNN going to take responsibility for SmashRacism’s actions?
They tore into Lewindowski(sp?) and today they are defending Acosta’s actions.
Their position is “Us good. You bad.” It doesnt matter what the situation is.
NPCs.
The time is coming when the question “What will CNN say when we begin encouraging our own extremists to begin doing this to them?!” will not be a hypothetical one.
And that time is coming fast.
Serious (as in not intentionally being an asshole) question: What do you do with this stuff when it’s done? Is it all in boxes? Enshrined and on display in the Room of the Cool Artifacts? For sale? Destroyed in the Neverending War of the Tiny Barbarians?
It ends up on a shelf.
A lot of the joy comes from the act of creating. But I cannot sell them, nor intentionally destroy them.
when is CNN going to take responsibility for SmashRacism’s actions?
Any day, now. Just sit quietly, and don’t breathe.
When Acosta is done with the mic.

bite the bullet and install on-demand
Mmmmmaybe. I have heard several stories around here about people who have bought on demand heaters, only to discover the water coming out of their wells is so cold the H2O heater can’t bring it up to temp on a single pass. Oops.
Also, the on demand heaters don’t seem to have a particularly impressive halflife. YMMV
does “on-demand” mean the same thing as “tankless”? those are $5K around here and you have to get them permitted.
Libertarian urge to kill rising….
On-demand water heaters can have problems with scaling if you have hard water, also.
The tankless ones are also very power-hungry. For houses over 20 years old, prolly require circuit upgrades.
I have a tankless and it works great.
FWIW, I know some guys that rep those. Not one of them has them in their own house.
I looked into on demand boilers when I had to replace mine and my furnace/boiler this summer. I get barely above freezing water out of my cold lines during the winter and didn’t trust that i would be able to take 2 hot showers in a row and not have one or both be uncomfortable. I also passed on the high efficiency gas boiler. The average lifetime is ~15 years, it’s 2X the price, and it requires extensive cleaning and yearly maintenance. The standard efficiency boiler is ~80% compared to ~88-92% for HE. I’m replacing a 30+ year old Peerless that probably struggled to make 70%.

“Democrats did find unity on once-divisive issues like abortion rights. Ilyse Hogue, the president of NARAL Pro-Choice America, cited as an example Jacky Rosen, who won a Nevada Senate seat Tuesday by ousting Republican incumbent Dean Heller. ‘I don’t think anybody thinks of Jacky as a foaming-at-the-mouth liberal, she just holds the values of reproductive freedom, gun safety and expanding access to healthcare and made her case to the people of Nevada in an authentic way.’ Hogue said.”
Ummmm…. all of that shit is just code for “no restrictions on abortion at any time for any reason, gun confiscation and socialized medicine” which sounds pretty foaming at the mouth to me.
No, no, those are mainstream ideas that only nazis don’t like.
I wish everyone I have heard tell me this was joking…
You know, bipartisan issues that in no way are divisive or controversial.
I am fine with the first and the last as long as I am not the one paying for it. And I do awesome gun safety because I don’t want to be hurt when using one.
“The failure, for example, of the Ben Jealous campaign in a very Democratic state says both that sticking a simple ‘progressive’ branding on a candidate’s campaign may sustain a small cult, but that isn’t enough to win enough elections.”
Fuck, I dropped my mask! They know it’s a cult!
Seriously, a prog named Jealous? That’s too rich, and needs be taxed.
More Jealous fun:
Jealous accuses Hogan of bullying: ‘A new low in Maryland politics’
Maryland Democratic gubernatorial nominee Ben Jealous accused Gov. Larry Hogan of “bullying” him with the release of a campaign video that mocks him for several gaffes, including one where he said he is running for governor of Virginia.
He was tired, he had just been to all 52 states.
NOOOOOOO! We have more than enough prog politicians here already, we don’t need to import any from Maryland.
Oh, it’s just precious how they’ve all gotten on board with calling gun control “gun safety”.
yeah. Gun grabbers lie. Everything they say is designed to deceive.
They got their Hi Cap ban…in California where the shooter last night used a Hi Cap mag. Obviously making them more illegal will solve the problem.
Always punish the law abiding citizens for those that will not follow the law.

*CEO looks at ad copy*
“Last water heater you’ll ever buy?! Are you nuts? I’ve got three kids in college and a wife who thinks her Range Rover is worn out when the odometer hits ten thousand miles.”
As I recall Obama and Immelt spent two months in a secret huddle and a few months later the price of hot water heaters, fridges, dryers etc. shot through the roof.
On hot water heaters the price tripled. I am sure that is just coincidence.
If you want to know what a real, no-shit fascist looks like they have a strong resemblance to a dark skinned Jesus with a halo around his head.
I don’t know how to predict when quality and durability will sell and when it won’t.
Almost every compressor I’ve designed was copied in China within two years if its debut; those copies sell well below the American manufacturing cost: basically the market prefers an $800 R&R cost in three years earlier to save $100 in initial cost (to say nothing about the extra downtime for commercial vehicles, my specialty).
With credit cards and car mortgages, people buy now and pay later. With cars, that has underwritten a surge prices, so people seem to think that’s a good value. With laptops, my Dells and Toshibas have gone about three years and then keyboards or something stop working; I suspect I could get to five years with just $100 more spent in the right places. Of course, cars aren’t (generally, as of now) obsoleted by OS or speed. I buy shoes made in Wisconsin; they are almost bulletproof, but I pay top dollar for them; most people pay more (by the mile) for shoes than I do, but they mistakenly think I’m in it strictly for the luxury; I just know that cheap equipment is expensive.
That said, if I manufactured stainless water heaters with a thirty year warranty (nothing to it, just a question of cost), I have no idea if I would be laughed out of Home Depot or if it would take off meteorically as the trendy new must-have toy. People pay more by the gallon for Pepsi than they do for gasoline; what do I know.
I believe the term for the concept is ‘False Economy’ (in the meaning of savings) where cheaper up-front costs lead to higher total costs due to more frequent replacements. ie – I paid $100 for this Das Keyboard, but the number of $15 keyboards I’ve have broken since them would have been far more than that.
I’ve had the same keyboard that came with the computer I bought in ot 3, the only piece of that build left. Sure it’s dirty as shit and I really should clean it, but other than that it is still perfectly fine. It was just the out of the box HP keyboard.
I have not owned an out of the box computer. Every one was built from parts. I don’t know what kind of quality the various pre-packaged computing platform distributers have in their desktop keyboards these days.
Based on the ones I’ve had to deal with through work, they’re shit. Membrane keyboards with chiclet keys, no real feel to them to let you know when a key has been pressed enough. At home, I’ve got old school clicky keyboards. Ones that if you spill something on them, you unplug it from the computer, rinse it out with warm water, let it dry, and it’s fixed.
I’m tempted to get an ergodox at some point. The mechanical keys plus the ability to do hand independent ergo adjustments makes me interested.
I’ve got one of these sitting waiting for me to get off my ass and put together a desk for a work from home station (instead of just balancing the work laptop somewhere). Then on my gaming rig, I’ve got an old Razer (which appears to be a similar one to this, but discontinued). Just checked, I’ve had that keyboard for over 6 years now.
That’s the only out of the box one I’ve ever owned. I bought it because I got an employee discount. (not from HP, the store I bought it from)
I used to love to build pc towers from scratch.
Anymore, not so much. My current pc that I never use is an out of the box Dell I got for cheap right after Christmas one year.
I have boxes full of old pc parts languishing in my garage. That’s even after tossing a ton of it when we moved.
The quality of PC-supplied keyboards has gone down though. At work I’m using the keyboard I got three PC’s ago because the last two were utter garbage from the get-go.
I don’t know how to predict when quality and durability will sell and when it won’t.
There is almost always a market for quality and durability – it just may be very, very small.
I think you could sell some high end water heaters, but only through specialty distributors – the box stores measure turns so they wouldn’t touch an expensive niche product.
Cheap =/= frugal.
Cheap people buy only regarding the lowest initial cost, no matter the quality difference. Frugal people buy the best value, and will often wait until the market bears better value.
It occurs to me that Home Depot has an array of dish washers, many of which have stainless components that contribute zero to durability.
Because stainless is a design accent for kitchens.
The guts are almost all plastic. The pumps are weak and silly. Even the expensive ones aren’t made to last.
The only appliances I can think of that appear to be truly made to last are Speed Queen washers and dryers. But they are plain so people won’t buy them.
My Maytag washer and dryer are more than 20 years old. I had to have a belt replaced on the dryer. The service guy said that I should never get rid of them and that he’d buy them if I wanted to replace them.
All my kitchen equipment was purchased new 14 years ago. They are top of the line Kenmore appliances that were Consumer Reports “best buys” in the fall of ’04. All stainless steel finishes. You can barely hear the dishwasher standing in the kitchen when it runs.
I replaced the appliances in mine recently with top o the line KitchenAid. I do love the quiet dishwasher and the excellent gas range. But I will be shocked if they make it 14 years. My Bosch washer puked after 9 years.
First we have BAKE THE FUCKING CAKE now we have WAX THE FUCKING DICK.

So you’re saying there’s no happy ending here?
I don’t know, I think there is a market for the service schlong as it is not too expensive.
This one is a whole new level of ridiculousness.
I mean it’s an actual dick here.

I’ll look around for it, don’t have a link right at the moment, but I saw earlier today a huge montage of Blue Checks calling for Sessions to resign back in 2017 juxtaposed with tweets today saying that Trump is undermining Natural Law and Sessions must remain in place.
How anyone can take these people seriously is beyond me.
Worse memory than a goldfish.
Well, here’s one with Lieawatha.
here’s another with Nadler..

Because the AG doesn’t serve at the pleasure of the President, who has no right to fire his employees. These people really are fucksticks.
Ugh. The fucking AG (or FBI director) serves at the pleasure of the President. Trump could fire these guys for any reason at all. Not sure how it is a constitutional crisis to exercise his rights.
Maybe because he didn’t give him a Performance Improvement Plan first?
You didn’t read the part of the constitution that establishes a permanent Special Prosecutor with unfettered scope and budget working for the opposition party?
Nope. And I missed the part that talked about not being able to respond or fight back. “You just have to sit there and take shit off of us until we are finished!”
And why shouldn’t the usual suspects scream about a constitutional crisis? They know the MSM will carry their water for them. Who is going to call them out?
OT: we gonna eat good tonight!
Chuck roast smoking on Hickory for pot roast tonight.
What time is dinner?
I’ll bring some bourbon.
Yum. I love smoked chuckie.
smoking……pot roast
Something doesn’t compute here.
It goes into the pot after it gets to medium rare.
Aha.
I’m not big on smoked meats myself. It’s ok now and then, but not something I do much of myself so it just struck me as odd.
They don’t like it because it provides limitations on their quest for absolute power.

If you say that again, I’ll kick your ass.
I hadn’t realized that the antifa mob at Tucker Carlson’s house actually broke down his front door while his wife was home.
Breaking into an occupied residence is serious felony material. I wonder if anyone will be arsed to actually treat this like the crime it is.
yup
Carlson lives in DC? I’ll say it again: someone is going to try that BS down South and get castle-doctrined.
Well, that’s why they do these things in places like DC, NYC, Chicago, LA, Portland – the risks are much lower than they would be in, say, South Carolina or Alabama.
Didn’t happen.
Or rather, Google News care.
That second sentence might be missing a word.
This is how people get shot. And by people I mean assholes.
his wife called the cops, then hid in the towel closet.
should’ve been a DGU but we’re talking Washington, DC.
Uffda. No matter what Team you root for, shouldn’t basic civility require you to denounce Antifa at this point?
Terrorizing a woman in her own home for things she has nothing to do with is insane. Didn’t the mob have rules that said families were off limits?
“children” not families.
AntiFa are the thugs that the left tacitly approves of in order to terrorize the opposition.
In my fantasy world activities like this will get ridiculous gun laws tossed. Of course, for that very reason, the Dems will fight any such effort tooth and nail.
UCS, this series looks like you primarily work with plastic bits (yes, i see the MDF wheels). Do you also work with metals or other materials for these custom pieces?
Not if I can help it.
Metal is heavy, and you either have to solder or use cyanoacrylate, and if you’re not 100% metal, you end up having only the latter option. Plus it’s harder to work when finessing details and fiddly bits. I stick with plastic for the light weight and ease of use.
How about LEDs? Ever add lighting effects?
I get tempted, but that requires a lot of pre-planning.
Letters Seeking Advice in the Workplace
Women are so fragile if you ever show romantic interest they fear for their lives any time a man speaks to them there after, it is know. #feminism
As long as she’s attracted to you, it totes ok. If not, it’s sexual harassment and rape.
You’re asking the NYT for dating advice?
Stand over there with your dick in your hand, they’ll let you know when you’ve been assigned a life partner.
Balls, meet garden shears.
(2) isn’t totally out of line. At this point in time, trying to pursue a relationship with any woman you work with is a potential landmine. It shouldn’t be. The standards are utterly and totally hypocritical. And the entire matter borders on insane. But, it is fundamentally true.
As for (1), that’s just batshit insane. If someone asking you on a date destroys your “security about working with men in any capacity forever”, the only workplace you belong in is a psych ward. And only in the capacity of a patient.
A lot of the joy comes from the act of creating. But I cannot sell them, nor intentionally destroy them.
Ah. That’s what I thought. When I was a kid I had some friends who built models and then destroyed them with fire and explosives. Lots of naval battles and aerial combat. I could never quite see how that would be satisfying.
I hadn’t realized that the antifa mob at Tucker Carlson’s house actually broke down his front door while his wife was home.
Holy shit. In this part of the world, they’d be lucky if they didn’t get carried off to the morgue on that door.
I think they beat on the door and cracked the frame, but didn’t actually break it down.
Still, yeah, in a lot of parts of this country someone would be on a slab after that. Hell, that’s Joe Biden’s advice – just blast through the door with a shotgun.
Here, at least for now, you’re still well within your rights to waste someone doing that.
They are really itching for someone to get shot and “martyred”.
They’re LARPing that they want to get martyred. They are men with no chests though, otherwise they wouldn’t wear masks. Take the mask off and put them at the business end of a Mossberg and they’ll be pissing themselves and begging for their lives.
what does Maddow do if the attack was a hate crime ?
That said, if I manufactured stainless water heaters with a thirty year warranty (nothing to it, just a question of cost), I have no idea if I would be laughed out of Home Depot or if it would take off meteorically as the trendy new must-have toy. People pay more by the gallon for Pepsi than they do for gasoline; what do I know.
“I’m selling this house in eighteen months. Don’t you have a used water heater back there?”

BREAKING: Just 17,000 votes now separate Rick Scott and Bill Nelson, within manual recount range.
AND the Florida governor’s race is now within the margin for a machine recount.http://www.tampabay.com/florida-politics/buzz/2018/11/08/how-bill-nelson-could-ultimately-win-the-recount-in-floridas-senate-race/ …

Seriously are there EVER Republican candidates whose vote totals mysteriously increase days after a close election? Cause that shit sure as hell seems to happen all the damned time for Democrats. Votes just keep materializing that makes the final tally closer.
It does sort of make a guy think twice about the laws of probability when you never see any evidence of them in real life.
Yup. Once is happenstance, twice is coincidence, three times is enemy action.
And it’s amazing that hick GOPers with all that bedspace in their lifted pickups don’t find as many as seem to be in trunks of tiny hybrids.
…aaaaand during this recount several thousand votes will be “found”, 95% of which will go to Nelson.
Lil Marco points out that Broward and Palm Beach counties are violating Florida law.
LOL here we go again.
Seems pretty cut and dried; the Secretary of State should be putting the kibosh on this immediately and certify the election results as they were initially reported.
they’ll finish counting when the get the result they want.. and not a second earlier.
^^^^THIS^^^^
sounds like Florida is reaching banana republic status with their voting.
The f-ups tend to happen in urban areas, which lean blue, but the military vote often comes in late and that leans red.
Yet we never hear about a sack full of ballots from Iraq or Afghanistan or Germany or Japan or South Korea that come in and force a recount or tip an election.
22,000 overseas military votes yet to be counted for Florida.
Those will be “lost”.
Or they will use ManBearPig’s attorney to disqualify them…
This will continue until it gets prosecuted. And no, I’m not talking the slap-on-the-wrist six months in minimum security prosecutions it gets now. I mean hard time with scary people who will make your life hell for a very long time. Yes, I know it sounds cruel to want to throw the book at what are essentially non-violent offenders whose biggest other crimes are probably overdue library books. But, as it stands, there simply isn’t any disincentive to do this sort of thing.
If these people can cheat and put politicians in power that will consistently rape their productive constituents, then they should receive punishment that involves someone raping them just has hard.
Trying to undermine an election to impose your will on millions of people is, IMHO, a much larger NAP violation than armed robbery.
Guys, I agree with you. But, lets be honest. Even the GOP isn’t going to step in the pile of dogshit that actually prosecuting one of these bastards would be. And that’s the problem. Cheating is something they do because they know they’ll get away with it. Because nobody is going to say “Yeah, let’s throw the book at a 59-year-old grandmother who was a former teacher-of-the-year.
even without Florida’s senate seat, there is still Mississippi’s runoff in a few weeks which the GOP will win. and Arizona could go either way at this point with their mail-in shenanigans too.

Lots of progs are about to shit their pants about Orangeman appointing RBG’s replacement..
I sure hope that this happens. Combined with what the donkeys want to do, it would gridlock congress and prevent a lot of bad shit from being done.
“Republicans called for the appointment of a second special counsel to investigate alleged misconduct at the FBI and Justice Department back in May, but Attorney General Jeff Sessions denied the request.”
Of course he did.
Oh, Jeff, bye bye.
