The Red Sox doubled up on the Dodgers for the second night in a row and I’m gonna say right now that I’ll be somewhat surprised if the series returns to Boston. They’re just too much for anybody in these playoffs. Their pitching has been more than adequate, but their hitters just grind pitchers into dust creating long at bats and forcing pitch counts that push them out of games early. They’re just too damn good this year, the bastards.
The UCL slate yesterday was interesting. Bruge and Monaco played to a draw, as did PSV and Spurs (which effectively takes the latter out of advancing to the knockout stages). PSG and Napoli also drew as did Galatasary and Schalke. Meanwhile, Barca beat up on Inter 2-0, Dortmund demolished Athletico 4-0. Liverpool boat-raced Red Star Belgrade by the same score, and Porto derailed Lokomotiv 3-1. Those we’re some serious ass-kickings.
A small slate on the ice last night. Winners were Florida, Toronto, Tampa Bay and Vancouver. Also, the NBA played.
Famous birthdays include: composer Georges Bizet, automobile pioneer John Francis Dodge, artist Pablo Picasso, aviation pioneer Richard Byrd, hurler Smoky Joe Wood, notorious asshole Klaus Barbie, the last Shah of Iran Mohammad Pahlavi, “Happy Days” mom Marion Ross, “Little Rascal” Porky Lee, basketball coaching legend and Buckeyes player Bobby Knight, singer Jon Anderson, lizardp-person/Skeletor impersonator James Carville, guitarist Glenn Tipton, football player/actor John Matuszak, cricket legend Imran Khan, hockey player Mike Eruzione, guitarist Robbie Macintosh, hockey tough guy Wendel Clark, retarded person and Canadian Samantha Bee, other retard JA Adande, one of the greatest pitchers of all time Pedro Martinez, and singer Katy Perry.
Its also the day the Dutch discovered Australia, John Hancock became the first governor of Massholechussetts, Clemenceau became the PM of France, Otto Graham fumbled the ball four times in one game, the first microwave over was sold, John Steinbeck was awarded the Nobel Prize for Boredom, Vikings player Jim Marshall ran 66 yards the wrong way for a safety, “Halloween” hit theaters, the US invaded Grenada, and Windows XP his the shelves.
Those updates were awesome! But now…the links!
In what has to be the greatest coincidence in timing ever, the Post Office delivered supposed pipe bombs to several different Democrat leaders and CNN on the exact same day. None of them worked, of course and bomb experts scoffed at their alleged design, but they’re legit from Trump supporters and in no way should ever be considered to be a false-flag or a hoax. The most interesting thing, to me anyway, was the efficiency with which the USPS delivered multiple “bombs” on the exact same day in multiple cities and states with at least one of the packages bearing no visible postmark on the stamps. But I’m just a dumbass rube.
Megyn Kelly was excommunicated from the church of progressivism yesterday. Her crime? Saying people, including white people, should be able to dress up and color their faces as other races for Halloween. The left has gone completely retarded.
Look, I’m not one to post stories from ZeroHedge. So I won’t pull a Drudge and do so. Instead, I’ll post the original story as it appeared at the Mises site. You can click here for the ZH link and the inevitable stupidity that follows in their comments section.
San Francisco newspaper goes to the source for an expose on the homeless issue. I hope they didn’t step on any piles of human shit as they were walking the street. Well, maybe just one or two piles.
Teachers place students first…until they don’t. Pubsec unions are a black eye and need to be abolished. I’m for free association, but public sector unions aren’t free association for the employers (the taxpayers) because they cut them out of the loop when the unions are negotiating their contracts with the people whose campaigns they fund rather than the people who are actually footing the bill.
The ECB still plans to end its stimulus plan at the end of the year. Good.
Song 1. The Second song. And then this.
Now go have a super day. Mine will be mostly on the road.
I was a contender for that prize. But I got too snarky and lost.
“USPS delivered multiple “bombs” ”
My understanding is that they were delivered by courier.
Yet the picture of the one I saw had a bank of Forever first class stamps (no postmark) slathered on the envelope.
Look, when you have a special gift for someone, apparently you will spare no expense in getting it there.
They were supposedly all picked up by the USPS screening process, and now we are being told none of them were anything workable. I am going to double down on my original take that this is a false flag operation by the democrats to give them talking points about the violence of team red (especially considering all the violence so far has been by team blue people). They don’t call these things “October Surprises” in an election year for no reason, and with people not parroting the team blue narrative now saying that blue wave is not gonna happen, this seems like another one of the left’s ops to motivate their listless base.
I just had to go and drag out a NYT link for some offices lefties who were sounding convinced that these were real bombs. Even that biased rag had three sections in the articule (all buried) where they had to admit these were probably not real bombs and the police were taking them seriously as per standard procedure (but not in those exact words)
This is my favorite thing ever. “Well, its not a real bomb, so I guess we just deliver it.” Postal employee laziness at an epic level.
“We’ll let marketing take care of that”
Wonder if they can get DNA off the stamps?
The MSM is going to have themselves painted into a really tight corner if this turns out to be left wing agitation, they haven’t talked about anything else for the last 24 hours.
It’ll just go into the memory hole as they start spinning some new outrage up.
Exactly. They have no principles and no shame.
So how long until the cable news shows sound like this:
Wait, they don’t sound like that already?
/scratches head in confusion
SUPPLIES!
Yet another joke that couldn’t be told today.
“Sex with furniture – what do you think?”
good album name, for sure.
Should people with leprosy and a past history of psychosis be allowed to teach our children? Your calls after this.
Think Vegas shooting.
What Vegas shooting?
Planking on pavement? I thought that fad had ended.
Sloopy’s just getting caught up.
And no link to this?
That video creeped me out as a kid so I have a natural aversion to the song.
I could have played this though:
https://youtu.be/uJM7TdshUbw
Probably should have. But I went a little deeper.
I’ve replayed this synth solo a couple hundred times and it never gets old: https://youtu.be/y3AQXtqY0Es?t=527
and it’s not even Rick Wakeman
I only have a vague memory of it but I think there was great debate before allowing public unions to form. Even the fucking communist party said it was a bad idea. Everyone said it was an awful idea, so of course, they let it pass.
Stupid + evil = bipartisanship
Worse, even FDR said it was a bad idea. Luckily politifactknows what he would be thinking if he were alive today.
FDR ans VI Lenin were against public unions on the basis that the people were already in power, so they would be fighting with themselves/ against the will of the people.
Conservatives have developed a sense of humor.
We have always had a sense of humor. What stereotypes have you been internalizing?
But rarely have they been funny.
This example was… weak, almost bordering on anti-humor.
We have always had a sense of humor.
I agree. I come from a conservative background and have always appreciated/used humor and irony. The leftist line is that conservatives do not.
Leftists used to have a sense of humor. Social justice has killed it dead.
^This right here. George Carlin as a notable case in point.
*angelic chorus sings*
PRO-JEC-TIONNNNNNNNNN
I tend to take assessments made by one group of their opposites with a grain of salt.
Evidence helps. I’ve accepted there is a problem with lefty violence because the ample video evidence from both sides verifies it. I’ve also had a lot of exasperated/irritated response to requests for substantiation for claims in the other direction.
In the field of humor, the work product speaks for itself, and I’m still baffled by what gets passed off as ‘comedy’ by some people.
Wood.
Also, that girl is the SPITTING image of an older version of Wednesday Addam’s cunt of a scout in the second (and superior) film.
“I’ll be the victim!”
“All your life.”
Pretty good.
Meh. It’s pretty formulaic. Political “humor” has completely lost the plot around the dawn of the Obama era thanks largely to the fawning bootlickers in Hollywood and NYC and will never be even marginally funny ever again regardless which side it comes from.
Also, would.
It has the same formula used in lefty videos people make cringe takes from.
That may be why I’m not laughing.
Would.
Opening a BIF (after night shift). A good way to end the day
You never have to justify your day drinking here. You are among friends.
I had boozy coffee (Baileys and Kahlua, the second BFYTW) yesterday morning.
LOL, the risk isn’t from trade protectionism or populism. The immediate risk is from an implosion of the corporate bond market when there are no buyers left.
Even the fucking communist party said it was a bad idea.
One of their spokesmen, some guy in a wheel chair named Roosevelt, made a speech about that.
Megyn Kelly ‘WON’T host this morning’s Today show’ after House of Cards cast canceled their appearance and NBC chairman Andy Lack slammed her blackface comments
‘House of Cards’ is still on? Anyway, I highly doubt she was saying that people should go out and act like the old racist blackface character. But we live in a world where the phrases “all lives matter” and “it’s ok to be white” are “racist. I hope she takes them to the cleaners if she is fired for that.
Also, Megyn is an enthusiastic ‘would’.
We ran out of racists, so the people whose livelihood depends on fighting racism required them to invent new ones.
My friend did some interviews with her when he was with the Luntz group. He said TV doesn’t do her justice and it was hard to concentrate on her questions.
I’m talking a little pleasure in this. Megyn traded in her conservative cred to ride the #RESIST train……and now the tiger she took by the tail has turned on her. Funny how that works.
One final season is dropping soon, without Kevin Spacey, as he is now an unperson.
I will continue to not have seen it.
Season 1 and the first episode of Season 2 were pretty good. After that, it started going downhill rapidly.
I’m gonna go ahead and say it. Megyn Kelly reminds me of another beauty named Kelly
I hate about myself that both of those women could get me to do terrible, principle-violating things just by smiling at me. I will freely admit that I would be putty in either Kelly’s hands. Less so Grace, these days, but like Rear Window Grace Kelly? Sheeeeeeyit.
To Catch A Thief Grace might be able to make me kill just by touching my arm
Oh, yeah, the bottom right panel? I’m punching a crippled child.
Bottom left, I assume you meant.
If not, NTTAWWT. He was a very handsome man.
Yeah, whoops, bottom left. That’s the effect she has on me, even now.
Putty?
Dude if she had me in her hands, I’d be steel. (Grace Kelly that is. Megyn is out.)
Megan just has this brittle edge to her that just doesn’t really jiggle my handle. Grace, now . . . .
My parents were in Monaco today.
Rear Window
I can’t believe she moved to NBC and didn’t expect to find herself in a struggle session eventually.
Also, I skimmed that whole f’in story and didn’t see any quote of her actual words.
Yeah, me too. I kept waiting to read these terrible, racist words. I guess they were so bad they couldn’t be printed.
I’ll be somewhat surprised if the series returns to Boston.
I’m a big fan of baseball as a sport. I’ve made it a point to go to as many major league parks as possible, and especially the classic ones. SP and I did the Wrigley thing and it was amazing fun and surprisingly nice (we’re also minor league enthusiasts, but that’s a different story). I’ve been to games at Candlestick, Chavez Ravine, Anaheim, Connie Mack, Veterans, Oakland-Alameda, Angel Stadium, Jack Murphy, Milwaukee County Stadium, Miller Park, Memorial Stadium, Camden Yards, Yankee Stadium, Shea, Cleveland Stadium, RFK Stadium… and of course, Fenway.
Fenway is by far the dumpiest, crappiest, most toilet-like stadium I have ever been in. I would never go back voluntarily.
Can’t possibly be worse than the old Memorial Stadium in Baltimore.
FAR worse.
Jeezus, that is bad.
Was it worse then the old Cleveland Municipal Stadium? And fuck whatever they call the place where the Browns lose, it’s still the Muni stadium.
Yes, Yahweh help us. It was absolutely the worst baseball experience I’ve ever had.
Old Angels stadium vs new Angels stadium?
The new one is a lot prettier, but the old version had certain working man’s charm.
New Busch vs old Busch?
Completely different. I preferred the old one, but the $95, all you can eat and drink tickets in the outfield seats was almost life threatening (I barely remember Pujols hitting a walk-off homer, as I was seeing double by that time).
I remarked to Mr. Mojeaux what a dump it looked like on TV. It’s so busy and so puke green—and they keep it that way! On purpose!
It’s worse in person, and of course you’re surrounded by Massholes.
Dodger Stadium lived up to its reputation. People started rolling in around the third inning, left by the seventh, and spent all their time in between looking around to see who was there and to make sure that they were being seen. I hated going to games there because I like being surrounded by baseball-knowledgeable people who are actually following the game (minor league parks are exemplary in this respect).
County Stadium (Milwaukee) had by far the drunkest fans I’ve ever experienced, but like Lambeau, they were happy drunks. We enjoyed the games we saw there. The new Miller Field seems to have a lower fan blood alcohol percentage compared to the old place, which is a bit disappointing from an entertainment standpoint.
Does it smell as bad as it looks like it smells?
Kauffman Stadium is beautiful. Maybe I’m just spoiled.
That’s a difficult question to answer. There is certainly a miasma, but how it is apportioned between the stadium smell and the Masshole smell is uncertain.
There is definitely a particular eau d’asshole to it. It certainly isn’t the worst stadium ever, but I’m horribly biased. If you like modern stadiums, it’s not the best. If you like cheap parking, it’s not the best. If you like being able to get there easily, it’s not the best. Ok, it has its issues. Still, it’s better than Tiger Stadium, RFK, Cinnergy Field, the Kingdome, Shea Stadium, old Yankee Stadium, and Olympic Stadium. Wait, those are all closed? Huh. Maybe it really does suck, but for my money the worst stadium I’ve been to that is still open is probably Dodger Stadium.
Minor league ballparks are more my thing but holy hell is Coord Field an awful place, even compared to many of the minor league parks I’ve been to. It’s like trying to cram 10 pounds of “classic” ballpark shit into a 5 pound bag.
I started going to minor league games a few years ago because the ML prices here are ridiculous. Plus I like the smaller crowds. Right now we have a Yankee team is a beautiful mini Yankee stadium on the water in Staten island, and a field in Coney island for a Mets team.
There used to be a nice field in Newark that was super cheap for the Newark Bears, an independent league team. Unfortunately they shut down a cpl years ago. You could sit in the front row with the cheerleaders for 5 or 7 bucks or whatever it was.
Bosse Field, for the win.
Such fond memories. The AAA Pirates affiliate in Indy is also dope.
In our Texas days, SP and I were regulars at Dell Diamond to see the Round Rock Express. Charming, fun, and yes, inexpensive. Since moving here, we’ve been to the Schaumburg stadium to see the Boomers, who are an independent team, and that was a blast, though far less fancy than Dell. With the new TSA-like “security” procedures at MLB parks, our attendance there has dropped sharply.
You just need a shitty team like the Rays. There’s always discount tickets where you can sit in great seats for not too much, or poor seats for cheap. Of course, the Rays are trying to get up a new ballpark on the Tampa side, meaning I won’t bother to go see them. I was surprisingly impressed by Detroit’s stadium this summer.
The Indians have some standing room only tickets that are pretty damned good. $15, with a $5 voucher towards concessions. If you’re taking kids, these seats would be terrible, but for adults, it’s a pretty solid deal. It’s also right by all of the local craft beer taps.
“Dodger Stadium lived up to its reputation. People started rolling in around the third inning, left by the seventh, and spent all their time in between looking around to see who was there and to make sure that they were being seen”
I love Chavez Ravine for a game. You need to go when Ryu is starting. All of Koreatown shows up.
Bostonians love Fenway and don’t want it to ever change.
I haven’t been in it as I don’t like baseball, but I try not to give myself eyestrain when rolling my eyes listening to them talk about how awesome Fenway is.
Bostonians love Fenway and don’t want it to ever change.
This speaks volumes about Boston.
Guilty. I do love it. When I lived there I loved sitting good seats and in the bleachers. Back then the only music was the old organ, it was great.
I also loved the old Boston Garden. It was an even worse dump, but it was our dump. If you thought you were going to show up and beat the Celtics or Bruins there, you were sadly mistaken.
The old Foxboro Stadium, now that was a real fucking dump. Aluminum seats bolted to concrete in order to suck out all your body heat, An open end-zone to make sure the wind blasts right past you during a blizzard. The men’s room was just a giant piss trough. Parking sucked, so everyone would just pay the local townies $10 to park in their front yards. It was kind of fun now that I think about it,
Wrigley, as mentioned before, truly is the American Cathedral. (Someone else posted a worthy contender but I forget and your face is ugly and you have a big butt and your butt smells and you like to kiss your own butt.)
I did a legit double take last time I was in Chicago and I saw that Comiskey (I know Cellular but nope) had changed its name to…Guaranteed Rate Field. What in the actual fuck is that?
Just as the Willis Tower, they will always be the Sears Tower and Comiskey to me.
Locally, we refer to it as “Guaranteed Loss Field.”
I used to know the names if every field. Now I have no clue. I still call the Mets place Shea.
Best “new” stadiums:
PNC Park
AT&T Park
Camden Yards
I’ve seen games in Atlanta, Boston, Cincy, Texas, Baltimore, Minnesota (the old dome, not the new place) and yeah I gotta agree Fenway sucks hard
I’ve seen ML games in: Seattle (old and current), Oakland (last of the 1970’s toilet bowl dual sports designs), SF (old and current), LA, Anaheim (current), SD (jack Murphy), AZ, KC,StL (Busch), Chi (Wrigley and Comiskey), Mil, Atl, DC, Phi (current), NY (old and new Yankee and Shea) and Boston. Fenway sucks and I agree with Evan about the exalted spot for Wrigley. But the worst fans I ever encountered were in SF. The new stadium is convenient (beer sucks and they confiscated my friend’s bag of peanuts) but the fans are like OMWC describes for LA but turned up to 12. KC has primarily the local brews and I did appreciate the air conditioning in Phoenix or a sweltering July AZ night.
If you have a chance take ARV’s advice and catch a Staten Island night game. The stadium is right on the water next to the ferry terminal and views on lower Manhattan are incredible.

Step away from the keyboard.
What word corrects to “Argghgggg”, I wonder.
I donno, but ‘Argghgggg’ looks Welsh. Perhaps ARV needs to change his language settings.

“I could live with my mom but I don’t want to impose.”
Translation: She insists I stop doing doing drugs first but I don’t want to.
I don’t want to impose on my mom, so I’ll impose on everyone else.
I don’t know what Giuliani did with the homeless, but they sure are back now.
I don’t have the statistics to hand, but substance abuse among the homeless is endemic. And if it isn’t that, it’s mental illness. Frequently both. It’s nice to think that homelessness is basically just Oliver Twist and that guy you gave five bucks to because you were feeling especially generous really is going to use it to get a sandwich and make good life choices, but no, he’s gonna spend it on MD 20/20.
My old man had an Uncle named Art who was, to put it bluntly, a bum. He just liked to drink – all day. I wonder if there is a certain percentage of the population that is like this; ie the village drunk.
Though, based on my experience with the punk rock scene, a lot of people are self-medicating with alcohol or heroin.
I suspect a number of the homeless are gutter punks who have, say, aged into the lifestyle they’ve chosen.
My biological grandpa was like that. He liked to hunt, fish and drink. Probably not in that order. He lived in his old beater of the car most of the time. I have no idea how he got money to pay for gas, shells and bait, but he did.
When I was very little he’d show up every so often and cadge a meal from my father and sleep a few nights in our house. I suspect that at some point, my father told him to never darken his door again because I don’t think I ever saw him after I was 5 or so.
I’ve said it before, but I sort of admire people who are committed enough to their drug of choice to strip their life down to the bare essentials so they can spend all their time using. Don’t need a warm house, don’t need baths, don’t need decent food, etc.
I noticed how many of them were “from” somewhere else. You get more of what you encourage….
How do you get addicted when you’re in a coma?
So I’m waiting on more information about those bombs, as everything I can find it’s mostly based off of speculating rather than actual info.
But I will note something. It will be interest to see how long it takes to get a suspect. They nabbed the ricin guy within days. If they can’t get someone, it does display a certain level of sophistication.
Or a certain amount of interference run for them. With all the other blatant crimes the DNC and their minions never get charged with I don’t even feel like I even need my tinfoil hat on this one.
^This. Based on the ridiculous nature of those “bombs”, it will be less likely a matter of sophistication and more likely a matter of a DNC operation that the bureaucracies will cover up.
As long as they can do a 24/7 cycle about Trumps violent fan base, at least until the election day so as to keep team blue asshats motivated and to get them to the polls, these dnc operatives with bylines will harp about this horrible threat. After the election the story will go away, especially since they need to prevent people from finding out it was just another team blue false flag op.

Forty minutes until my follow-up interview. This one will not get me super nervous, although getting ghosted at work certainly got me on edge today. I’m pretty much determined to not take the gig but I will work with them part time as a freelancer to get my feet wet.
It’s a nice feeling knowing that I have nothing to lose.
Good luck!

Back at work today – high on cold “medicine” and with all the gusto of a passed out wino.
Of interest: my wife, the lawyah, got a date proposal – dinner – from one of her clients. Apparently not the first time this has happened.
That proposal sounds indecent.
Does it involve a million and Robert Redford?
Are you gravely disappointed and releasing your dogs of war?
Not the first time that client asked out their lawyer? Or not he first time a client has asked her out? Or both?
Yes.
Last time was a jail inmate, the time before that involved a guy sending a plate of bakalava, as he thought I was greek.
So, any indication that this particular one has a history of asking lawyers out?
Did he think you were greek or was he just hinting for anal?
He thought I was greek.
He thought you were Greek, or he wanted to do the Greek? 🙂
Where are they going?
Hopefully somewhere expensive.
If you can drink and entire bottle of Robitussin—and manage to keep it down for about an hour—you can have a very, very interesting experience. Some fond college memories. I wouldn’t advise it.
Fun fact: About ten years ago, I Robo-tripped for a New Year’s party. Unbeknownst to me there was a poker game. As I was getting the spins and starting to get nuts, I decided to play MUCH more aggressively than I ever would’ve normally. I beat the other 8 players in about 45 minutes and pocketed I think $80.
Then I went outside to get something. I got lost on the fifty foot trip back to the house. That was a fun night.
Friend of mine did that in college, I ended up taking him to the ER.
Just once I want to have a hot client or even a hot opposing party. Anyway, my old lady clients (and one old man) frequently do things that probably count as sexual harassment but none have ever asked me out.
Later Wednesday, the FBI said two additional packages addressed for Rep. Maxine Waters had been intercepted that were similar in appearance to five others.
Hmm…..
Yeah, this is all just way too convenient for the Dems right before the midterms, when they were getting their asses handed to them over the mob issue.
If it looks like a duck and it quacks like a duck…
It’s a witch!
Actively advocating harassment and assault is ok if you are on Team Blue. It’s like you’re not even trying to be ///OntheRightSideofHistory*.
*I tell my lefty gf that I actually am on the ‘right’ side of history…she is not amused.

What’s happened to the vanished Uighurs of Xinjiang?
Uppity Uighurs…
Dilraba Dilmurat – 木
One of the best meals I have ever had was at a hand-pulled noodle shop in an Uighur slum outside of Dongguan. Since they were Muslim, there was no beer, of course, but the “beef” and noodles were very good. I think it cost me $3 for 2 of us to eat our fill.
Co-conspirator! Instigator!
Don’t expect Donald Trump to repent for heating America’s politics to a bitter boiling point, despite a day that could have turned into a tragedy after an unknown suspect mailed bombs to the President’s favorite targets.
Trump did just about the bare minimum expected after the attempted attacks using improvised explosives on two of his predecessors, several other prominent political critics and the New York offices of CNN.
He called for national unity, promised to bring those responsible to justice and warned that political violence was an “attack on our democracy itself.”
But there was no public acknowledgment that there can be consequences to the nation’s most conspiratorial rhetoric and demagoguery — violent, dehumanizing language he himself has spread as he lashes out at his opponents and whips up his supporters.
——–
In effect, the President has chosen not to rise above the tumult or even console or counsel those who opposed him.
He did not mention the victims by name. Or give any indication that he is concerned that some people might see his flaming rhetoric as a spur to violence.
Trump’s response to Wednesday’s events was a reminder of the gap between presidential expectations and performance that has often been evident in his response to grave national moments, crises and natural disasters.
That no good rotten bastard. How dare he not console and comfort us as we carry out our round-the-clock slander and vilification of him?
It’s amazing people who write this dreck are able to fall asleep at night. I get that some level of cognitive dissonance is tolerable, but we had this same exact fucking conversation 10 years ago about Sarah Palin. Now Trump is the one darkly taking the country in a scary direction after 8 years of peace and prosperity.
Just visit democraticunderground.com for a taste of the truly deranged.
These people are either delusional in a very serious way or mendacious in the extreme. The level of cognitive dissonance it takes to completely ignore the antics of Antifa and the direct calls for violence by Waters, Booker, et al and label DRUMPF! the sole reason for the toxicity of the political climate is quite literally insane.
Fuck, the Democrats were rioting in DC for Trump’s inauguration! They were physically attacking people who attended his campaign rallies before he was even elected! Yet HE’S responsible for the violence?!
Fuck these dishonest assholes sideways with a chainsaw.
Democrats were rioting in DC for Trump’s inauguration!
I seem to recall them destroying an Arabic immigrants limo (among other things) because privilege or something.
after an unknown suspect mailed bombs to the President’s favorite targets.
I have yet to see compelling evidence that they even were/are functioning bombs.
Two words: James Hodgkinson
Fuck CNN.
Even the NYT had to put in the Weasel “the police won’t say if they’re functional”.
I’m pretty sure if they were real the cops would go “Yes, these were bombs.”
“Victims”? Next they’ll be calling them survivors. I’m sure this won’t let up even after it’s officially determined that the bombs were never built to function.
Did they ask Steve Scalise for a comment?
“There are tens of thousands of people there now. They have some problems with their thoughts.”
I hear fapping.
Apparently a Dem operative has been given CC footage of the person dropping the packages off. Let me grab the still shot. Hold on.
Here it is. This is breaking on CNN soon. Hopefully they can find the deplorable bastard.
“Looks legit to me.”
-CNN producer
That’s a far higher bar than any of their previous stories have gone through with their editors & fact checkers.
Trump opened a rally in Wisconsin by condemning violence. But he then went on to lay blame elsewhere — against some of the targets who were in the sights of the unknown bombmaker.
“We should not mob people in public spaces or destroy public property,” Trump said, in a reference to liberal protests against GOP politicians.
In order to bridge political divides, he said, “the media also has a responsibility to set a civil tone and to stop the endless hostility and constant negative and oftentimes false attacks and stories.”
Outrageous.
The outrage is that the left/media have been dehumanizing their opponents with charges of racism and misogyny for years now. Trump was the first candidate to not give a shit and plow right thru it. It does not excuse his rhetoric, but it puts the lie to the claim that this is wholly about the President’s actions. He met them on the battlefield they prepared.
“It does not excuse his rhetoric,”
It sure as hell makes it obvious however that the only way to counter this shit is to play by team blue’s rules.
Teachers place students first…

For many observers, Wednesday’s drama was a sign that overheated political arguments have reached a perilous point.
“These attempted bombings are a clear sign that our civil discourse is so off track that it is becoming a national security threat,” said Dr. Carolyn Lukensmeyer, executive director of the National Institute for Civil Discourse.
It’s just down the hall from the National Institute for Cowboy Poetry. Close to the bathrooms, which is handy.
I don’t recall hearing from Dr Lukenmeyer during the Kavanaugh circus. I guess she was busy.
Clearly we need a new government agency to regulate our civic discourse, for the children.
So I won’t pull a Drudge and do so. Instead, I’ll post the original story as it appeared at the Mises site.
From the story
More than half of Americans receive more money in various types of government transfer payments (Medicare, Medicaid, food stamps, Social Security) than they pay in federal taxes.1
Well if you count social security and medicare this would be expected… pensioners in general get stuff and pay little in taxes.
Since the government spends far more than they collect in taxes, this is to be expected.
I think I’m gonna frame this:
“CNN
Don Lemon: ‘Listen, I know Megyn. You know, we do this – sometimes you say stupid things when you’re live. But I’m just going to be honest. Megyn is 47 years old, she’s our age. There has never been a time in that — in her 47 years that blackface has been acceptable. There were all white people on that panel. There were no African-Americans, no people of color there to say, hey, Megyn, not cool. I wonder how much diversity she has on her staff? I don’t know, I’m not there. But I would imagine there’s not a lot because people would have informed her. This is what people of the larger culture don’t understand about racism and about privilege. I don’t know of many black people that are trying to be white people for Halloween or dressing up as white people but I know a lot of people who do it as black people. She mentioned Luanne who I know. I know Luanne feels bad about the Diana Ross thing. She put on a wig that looked like Marge Simpson, overcharacterizing Diana Ross. And there was no need even in that to put on dark face.
‘Megyn is not aware of the history of this country. Megyn is not aware of the history of this country. It’s not a one-off. Remember the whole black Santa Claus thing, which was offensive. I think people really need to educate themselves about this particular issue, and we need to realize in this culture that some people do have a privilege where they don’t have to think about it. It does not exist to them. Now, let me be honest. In this business, I’m the only person who looks like me in prime time. I’m a unicorn. Megyn has taken over for what used to be an African-American woman and a black man who had that slot and who actually did better than her in the ratings, and who in this situation would have said it is never okay to do blackface. There would not be this controversy. So diversity is key. The people who are hiring people like Megyn, like me and you should realize how important diversity is, how important it is for their talent to know the history of this country and not say stupid things like, it’s okay. It’s always been okay for people to dress up as long as they’re honoring and memorializing people. It’s never okay.'”
“Mammy, Mammy!”
Oops. Remove the quotes.
Yes you are Don, just not for the reasons you imagine.
Know what’s sad about assholes like Lemon pretending to be journalists? They’re so clouded by their faux-righteous crap they can’t see the truth.
Just look at this interview on Rogan with Roseanne. Now the story looks different.
Instead, the media responded with outrage for its own sake without thought.
This is why the list of people on that link to the Daily Mail are jerkoffs. They just pile on without thought.
They each have an NPC #.
There was a kid in my high school who wired a light-up black Santa face to the grill of his truck during the month of December. I miss the days when this evoked a wry smile and a headshake rather than gnashing teeth and rending garments.
Oh, shut the fuck up! JUST SHUT THE FUCK UP!
JESUS. I wish I could suck my own dick, too.
Mercy.
“I don’t know of many black people that are trying to be white people for Halloween or dressing up as white people”
Bullshit.
The premise behind Def Comedy Jam was essentially that white people are squares who sound like weatherpersons and can’t dance, as interpreted by black comedians making fun of them.
Black comedians doing white guy voices: hilarious
White comedians doing black guy voices: crime against humanity
You mean I shouldn’t start with a ‘Tyrone the Harvard Crip’ routine?
“Remember the whole black Santa Claus thing”
No. What black Santa Claus thing?
Only a terrible conservative would wear black face.
Yup…

Gawd dammit. This is black face. This is not. fucking stop conflating the two you assholes!
sometimes you say stupid things when you’re live.
Don Lemon would know…
He says something insipid every single day!
Know how hard it is to do that?
And the motherfucker gets PAID to spew caca.
Don Lemon… The same guy who called Kanye an assortment of racial slurs because he had the audacity to say he likes Trump?
80s movies would like to have a word.
OH, OH. SOMEONE NOTIFY TIMOTHY C. HOWELL HE MAY HAVE TO APOLOGIZE SOON!
Naw, he’d just say “It was unacceptable then too.”
Obviously Don Lemon never saw “Silver Streak”.

The delivery.

Who gets their mail so early in the morning?
Mail at my office comes around 12:30 PM
Mail at my parents house comes around 3:30 PM
Mail at my house comes around 4 PM (but sometimes as late as 5:15)
(we’re all in the same zip code, but it’s three different routes… i.e. three different mailmen)
Genuinely curious as to who receives their mail before 10 AM.
1:30pm at the trash can
4:30pm at the office
Did anyone ever drop a torso in your can?
I’ve gotten a few legs, and a chicken head once. No torsos.
Somebody must. In fact, I’d guess roughly half? I mean, it’s not like they wait until noon to start delivering the mail.
For the record, mine comes at 11am
Who gets mail?
It’s mostly pro-baby murder ads from NARAL and coupons for the local Asian restaurants these days. I do get a local newspaper that makes really good firestarting material for the grill.
Well, the U.S. has a post office because we have people who can go outside during the day.
Getting licensed in anything is a curse. My mail is piles of CPE promotions and everyone trying to sell me life insurance.
^^this. Almost 2/3 of my mail is advertising relating to one of my licenses
The “bombs” were supposedly couriered (so it should be simple to track their origin). But they still had a bunch of stamps, not canceled, and comical labeling in order to trigger the “suspicious package” look. But sure, this is totally legit.
“Bombs” is right. These were obviously designed to make people piss their pants, not to hurt anyone.
When I saw the device sent to CNN, I almost burst… out laughing.
That was definitely someone trying too hard. It was cartoonish.
Wait… The perpetrator was Clock Boy!?
Well, he does have family ties to terror and did make a voyage to the middle east within the past five years…
My mail arrives anywhere from 11am to 4pm.
I have no idea why it’s so inconsistant.
Your mail man has various trysts along his route and it depends on who is, or isn’t, home that day.
The one tryst he had with UCS didn’t go so well, and now he’s trying to avoid having to look him in the eye?
Hear me
roarsqueakWhen a recent memo was revealed exposing the Trump administration’s proposal to begin strictly defining gender, LGBTQ advocates and allies around the country decried its apparent intent to erase transgender people.
But for activists like Jazz Jennings, the 18-year-old star of TLC’s reality show “I Am Jazz,” the threat of erasure is far from new. Long before networks began chronicling her life and tracing her every step, Jennings, a trans woman, was a relatively obscure trailblazer at her elementary school in South Florida.
Jennings began living as her authentic self at age 5, and with the aid of her parents, she asserted her identity as a girl while demanding her school treat her as one. Jennings has since ascended into a role as one of the nation’s foremost trans activists, and in a recent video posted to her popular YouTube channel, she defiantly criticized the Trump administration’s memo.
That’s nice.
~~~edit fairy~~~
Teenagers with their own television shows are definitely at risk of being erased.
She’s oppressed, Scruffy.
“Activists”
This is TLC. They’ll give a reality show to someone who gets a face tattoo.
I remember when TLC aired Connections reruns.
Remember, TLC stands for The Learning Channel. No one has learned anything by watching that channel in close to 20 years.
Hey! I learned never to watch TLC.
So you stuck to the rivers and lakes that you’re used to?
Took me a moment to figure out.
I was going to snark, but mostly I think it’s sad you remember that song.
Lies! We have all learned very important secrets of the universe. It’s all always aliens.
The threat of erasure.
Thank you. I was waiting for this.
T activists. I don’t know if the L or G care.
The war on transfat continues?
“The most interesting thing, to me anyway, was the efficiency with which the USPS delivered multiple “bombs” on the exact same day in multiple cities and states with at least one of the packages bearing no visible postmark on the stamps.”
Two of them were delivered by courier. Which really makes me suspicious. How have they not caught the perpetrator? Wouldn’t the courier service be able to offer them a pretty strong lead?
I suspect that we will never know who the perpetrator is, because it doesn’t seem like anyone is interested. It boggles my mind that they caught the guy who mailed ricin to the president and Mattis in the same day that it was reported, but two days later there is no suspect with regards to these pipe bomb mailings.
They weren’t all on the same day.
No. They weren’t. But, four of them happened yesterday around the same time
Apparently, Joe Biden just got one. So that’s spread over three days.
but two days later there is no suspect with regards to these pipe bomb mailings
Well, you actually have to want to ID the suspect.
I was a courier. VERY EASY to trace the delivery. Even Don Lemon that vapid fuck can figure it out.
I was a courier once. But then this Jerk shot me in the face. This was back near Vegas of course…
I seem to remember. That was back in 81 or somewhere around there.
Let’s try that again-
That NPC response generator is great. Check out the comments below where people are copying and pasting the output and others are responding without knowing what the hell is going on.
Dave Roberts has to knock it off with this match up thing. He has to go full throttle and start every single one of his sluggers. It’s ridiculous to have Muncy and Bellinger on the bench. Too much power not getting ABs. You ain’t gonna win with Hernandez and Grandal getting more ABs. There are no Grandal’s in Boston’s line-up.
Roberts is over managing in the first two games and it’s hurting the Dodgers.
I’m waiting for Corerra to play him. Start Sale, bring in a righty, and after Roberts burns through his bench to switch to lefties. bring in Price.
Didn’t Hugh Grant find a suspicious package?
I’m trying to imagine how pretentious and overpriced Robert De Niro’s Tribeca restaurant probably is.
Imagine Trump trying to go have dinner there!
Lol.
He should do it just to enjoy the spectacle of shrieking idiots getting manhandled by the Secret Service.
You know who else discovered a suspicious package?
Stephen Rea?
Bravo.
Stormy Daniels?
Damn you. I was going to say that
More likely Trump discovered a suspicious package that night.
Eddie Murphy seems to be on the look-out.
Conservative Parties and the Birth of Democracy
https://notesonliberty.com/2018/10/15/conservative-parties-and-the-birth-of-democracy/
“The central insight Ziblatt emphasizes throughout is game theoretic: the absence of a party to organize around meant that economic elites lacked the ability to strategically defend their interests and hence became willing to ally with any forces that might help them protect their property. While in Britain, the well-institutionalized Parliamentary Conservative party moderated and sidelined the more reactionary and xenophobic elements in British life, the absence of such a strong party meant that in Germany, the right tended towards antisemitism and other forms of extremism .”
Germany had the Centre Party which was established before World War I and was a conservative party that represented the interests of Catholic Germans from the South. And Germany had an agricultural conservative party that represented the interest of the Junkers. Both parties were in power, either in a coalition or alone, at one time or another before World War I.
Maybe I’m missing the thesis
I don’t get it either.
It should also be noted that the British Conservative Party primarily represented the landed gentry, which were not so wealthy post-Enlightenment, at least, their wealth wasn’t liquid. The British Liberal Party represented wealthy merchants. And only well-to-do people were allowed to vote in the UK, or we’re overly represented due to rotten boroughs, up until WWI, essentially. Which makes the thesis even more confusing to me.
I think his argument could have been made in a better manner. But, the main problem is that people continue to confuse “conservative” (in the true Old Tory sense) with what we now call “conservative” (in the American connotation). The US has never really had a true “conservative” party (as in anti-liberal). And the UK hasn’t had a true “conservative” party after the mid-18th Century.
The targets of the bombs were some of the figures most frequently criticized by President Donald Trump
Curious, that. It’s
almosttoo good to be true, optically. Speaking to political optics, they haven’t been very favorable towards Democrats prior to this event.The left thinks the right did it, the right thinks the left did it, the middle of the roaders don’t know what to think. It hasn’t changed anything other than maybe motivating some leftists to vote and even that is contingent upon who if anyone is caught.
If they haven’t caught anyone now, they’re never going to catch anyone. The guy used a courier and that wasn’t enough to bust him or know his identity?
I’d guess it would be but I’m not an FBI man.
You would have to assume the FBI was actually interested in catching the perpetrator(s).
Given the possibilities, I wouldn’t make that assumption.
That’s what I’m thinking, but I’d never admit as much
You know who else received a bomb…
Disney/Lucasfilm?
Carolco Pictures?
Disney when they accepted the script to The Last Jedi?
Red Dead Redemption II
An Open-World Western For The Ages
Still no Red Dead PC?
Not interested.
I think it’s coming. GTA made a killing on PC it would be dumb not to release RDR 2 on it.
I wouldn’t be surprised if it did. But until then, I have no consoles and don’t plan to get any.
I’m skeptical. The Red Dead series is damn-near priceless as a Playstation exclusive. Shit, I’ve even thought about picking up a Playstation Whatever for Redemption when I found out it would never come to PC.
Except it’s not a Playstation exclusive. And I’m having trouble finding evidence that the original was – being for both PS and XBox.
*skims some more*
Ah, “Timed exclusives”. They never intended to be limited to that solitary subpar platform.
Oh yeah, that’s right, they did make it to Xbox. Just never off console. I still don’t understand that, it’s not like Rockstar is averse to PC.
Well, they’re averse to making good ports to PC.
Watching football and baseball?
Well on top of watching football… Sorry but Dodgers Sox is a terrible series. Two of the worst fanbases.
Sex, Guns and Games are blocked at my work. Oh and booze sites.
But you can get all the violent political fervor you want.
On a day the stock market tanked, Stossel’s and Lott’s odds of the GOP maintaining control of the House went from 34% to 38%, even peaking at over 39% for some time. For those who don’t know, their odds are based on the averages from prediction markets and betting sites. I check the site every day, and it was a considerable jump (largest single day jump I can remember), and the best odds the GOP has seen all year. Like I said, on a day the market tanked. It looks like some people are betting on this bomb thing as being a false flag that will get exposed.
It’s hard to say with Economic crashes. Historically the public trusts republicans with the Economy more than Democrats.
Brother Keith’s goose is cooked. A DFLer who he defeated in the primary just registered as an AG write-in candidate.
This tells me that the DFL knows Ellison isn’t going to win and it is now OK to dance on his political grave. Foley won’t pull any votes from Wardlow (GOP guy). He’s only going to pull from Ellison. My gut tells me that it will be fashionable amongst those rich white women to say that they are going to vote for Foley because they now Believe Monohan. If the race was tight, they’d all still hold their nose and pull the lever for Brother Keith.
“DFL”?
Democratic Farmer-Labor Party
It’s what the State Democratic Party in MN is called
Which they’ll probably have to drop the “Farmer” and “Labor” part of their name, since that really doesn’t constitute a substantial part of their voters anymore.
Hubert Humphrey hardest hit
Well, they’re not Democratic either, but that doesn’t stop them from retaining the branding.
Plain old Democrat isn’t nearly socialist enough for us.
That was from the very beginning. They aren’t so conservative anymore.
https://www.nationalreview.com/news/cnn-pipe-bomb-white-powder-harmless-law-enforcement-report/
That screams “Antifa lefty who doesn’t really get it”. I’ll say it right now: no redneck is going to use the ISIS flag to make a statement. And Larry the Cable Guy’s schtick was played out 10 years ago.
It could be a mentally ill person who is coming from left field, but I’m certain it’s not a #maga type.
Lol hilarious.
The NYPD said the explosive devices were live during a Wednesday afternoon press conference but subsequent reporting suggests they were not functional.
All of the devices carried a parody ISIS flag featuring comedian Larry the Cable Guy’s signature slogan, “git ‘er done,” NBC News reported late Wednesday.
“Antifa lefty who doesn’t really get it” seems likely.
SO the git’r’done was supposed to make us think a deplorable sent it? The ISIS bit is confusing, though.
I think it’s also possible this was just an attention getting stunt. I mean if the bombs were not real…
This all reeks of a hack job by your usual inept and stupid lefties in a desperate attempt to provide cover to their narrative that it is team red that is doing the violence they have been doing. This is so fucking obviously the exact way the left’s narrative believes and says deplorables would act it out when they come after them, that it screams false flag. My first observation was that if this really had been done by a deplorable, like the team blue operation wants us to believe, those bombs would have reached their target and worked. They would not have been a parody of with every stereotype that leftists see deplorables as exhibiting. It is blatantly obvious to me that these things were sent in such an obvious way that they would get found out. Follow the lead to how these stories were shared with the media once these were ‘found”, and I suspect we will find the usual dnc operatives with bylines were already waiting for this to be deliver to them so they could spring team blue’s October surprise.
I don’t know. I think it was a joke. ISIS flag that says Git ‘er Done. Really?
Anyone trying to send real devices would have had one go off by now – either on its own or by bomb squad detonation.
Last night the “ISIS” bit was still a “hoax”. I guess the 48 hours isn’t up yet.
I distinctly say it reported last night that the ISIS thing was a hoax.
But now everyone says otherwise.
*saw
The bar for what constitutes an attack seems to have been set pretty low.
In the early 70s during the Days of Rage, revolutionaries set off 2,500 bombs in 18 months. Real bombs.
If we learn anything from this bomb situation, I hope it’s that Trumphitler and his cis-shitlord Nazi asshole followers need to tone down their rhetoric before someone gets hurt.
Seriously.
Fingers were pointed
Hours after CNN’s New York City headquarters were evacuated over an explosive device Wednesday, the network’s president, Jeff Zucker, issued a statement condemning President Trump and White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders, saying they “should understand their words matter.”
Zucker decried what he called the administration’s “continued attacks on the media.”
The statement continued: “The President, and especially the White House Press Secretary, should understand their words matter. Thus far, they have shown no comprehension of that.”
It doesn’t matter who actually built and sent those things. Trump is responsible.
Somebody should send Zucker a copy of The Boy Who Cried Wolf.
Her nose is off kilter in an almost Jeff Flakian manner. Also would.
Everything on her face seems a bit out of kilter one way or another.
Still would.
Those eyes… I’m sold.
Apparently Ben Shapiro has come out saying that anyone who thinks this bomb thing is a false flag is deranged. Maybe, maybe not. But in the past five years we’ve seen federal intelligence and law enforcement agencies deliberately lie to the public, we’ve seen crystal-clear evidence of high-level members of those agencies use their offices to conduct politically-motivated attacks or to shield politicians from investigation…hell, how long ago did Obama, Clinton, and Valerie Jarrett swear on a stack of Bibles that the attack on the embassy in Libya was caused by a YouTube video? Shit, look at the tricks the DNC pulled leading up to the last presidential election. I’m still leaning towards crazy person, but why would it be so unbelievable to think that one or more Democrats pulled this stunt “for the good of the country”?
I thought his statement was That anyone whose immediate response to the reports was ‘false flag’ was deranged?
Just being accurate, I suspected false flag from early on.
/so not deranged.
I mean, this close to the event I’d say any response is going to be effectively an immediate one. I kind of glanced over the article, but apparently he was referring to Limbaugh and some others who mentioned the false flag possibility.
I’m still leaning towards crazy person, but why would it be so unbelievable to think that one or more Democrats pulled this stunt “for the good of the country”?
But you repeat yourself there…
The thing about Ben is that he isn’t much of an original thinker even if he is good at being snarky while speaking at 90 miles an hour.
She’s so photoshopped, she has two uncanny valleys.
With prehensile cloaca dentata..
GAHHHH! See what you’ve done to my brain?!
Meh. It’s always the weak minded who are the first to go.
I hate the whole rhetoric caused this argument. If that’s the case under the assumption the bomber is a right wing nut job, then left are more likely to have influenced the bomber than Trump.
Assassination attempts of political figures in this country have been dropping steadily for decades. It appears that words are just fine.
The mad bombers
I never understood why they looked like plague doctors.
I’ll defer to OMWC, but why is eating an underage girl you’ve just abducted a bad thing? I would think that a bit of foreplay will make the next stage of the kidnapping/assault a bit less excruciating.
Are the kids milk-fed and not allowed to move around at all?
Lotus-fed.
Sorry.
This may be my last posting Dear Glibs. The apocalypse is upon us here in Sunny Minnesoda.
Tanning beds and tattoo parlors will no longer be inspected due to lack of funding . It is only a matter of time before the chaos in Mpls spreads to my suburb.
5 days/week * 50 weeks/year = 250 days. So 2 inspections/day is back breaking work that only “above average” inspectors are able to maintain.
Won’t someone in Minnesoda please think of the children!?
People in Minnesoda tan? I thought most of the population just went from pasty white to burnt red (like those of us with Irish and Scottish blood).
Visitors.
Sheesh. It’s as if you don’t even tourist trap.
Tourist Trap.
Or a working link.
There’s probably a dozen tanning and tattoo places just inside the Mall of America. Which the girlfriend wanted to visit when we were there a couple years back.
I much preferred Surly, and we chose Matt’s for our Jucy Lucy
MOA is in Bloomington. So those tanning beds and ink parlors will still be safe.
All you need to worry about is getting stabbed.
This is what I don’t get about Medicare/Social Security — yes, it is a third rail to decrease benefits to existing retirees. Yes, they vote.
But most folks in my generation (X, I suppose) and one would expect later know the “trust fund” is a lie, the program is going broke and we’ll be lucky to get anything even if we think we should.
So why not make it official? Anyone older than some arbitrary line (50?) is kept in the existing program. Anyone younger gets to keep paying because we have to for the existing program, but benefits for those under 50 are means-tested, or shifted to increased HSA cap or something to shut up the “No safety net for the elderly!” without having to pay for everyone.
And I suspect I know the answer — 1) The willing “allies” in the media won’t hesitate to spin it as “They’re taking your benefits away!” to the retirees regardless (didn’t Romney propose something once that got this treatment?) and 2) Can’t have anything that might get folks to actually pay for their own healthcare these days, even if the debt/deficit is so obviously out of control it isn’t funny.
Sigh.
We have known that Social Security would be bankrupted by the boomers since the early 80’s — at least thirty-five fucking years. And nothing has been done, because old people vote.
It’s a fucking Ponzi scheme. that the only entity able to do this without ending up charged and locked up is the US government speaks volumes about how fucked up this scam is. I for one have never planned on getting anything from SS, but am now worried as that goes broke people like me will have their private retirement savings raided by the marxists that will tell people like me we didn’t build that and that it belongs to the village.
I think Bush II proposed a mild version of this and was pilloried for it.
Okay, this just happened.
I drove to the bus stop this morning in my truck. It’s only five blocks from home, but I had my knee replaced in January and at first I couldn’t walk that far. These days, it because I’ve been spoiled. It’s very comfortable. The truck is warm, there’s jazz on the radio and I can see the buss coming from three blocks away. Again, it’s very comfortable.
Anyway, the bus is about a block and a half away, so I hop out of the truck, lock the door and cross the street to the stop. There are two people there, a white woman and a black guy. I pay no mind to either as the bus is pulling up. So the black guy says to himself, but loud enough to be heard (in flawless American English), “Americans don’t say good morning. Maybe because I’m black.”
Well I ain’t taking the bait. I just ignore him, but I’m thinking to myself, maybe, it’s because instead of saying good morning to me, you just went into your little racist song and dance. What a fucking little cunt.
You didn’t even say “uffffda” and roll your eyes at him?
Do you even Minnesoda Nice?
Law enforcement looking into potentially suspicious package addressed to Biden: report
Also Robert Deniro received one too apparently…
Ok, what? Who gives a shit about Joe Biden?
Well he’s the likely favorite Democratic candidate for president in 2020.
Not kidding.
The package was originally sent to Biden’s old address in Delaware, and was returned to the sender. Officials are looking into it because of “possible similarities” to the explosive devices that law enforcement officials intercepted earlier Wednesday, CNN reported.
I think ‘explosive devices’ should be in quotes at this point.
…
Now, far be it from me to tell law enforcement professionals how to do their jobs, but…
It was returned to Debbie Wasserman Schultz?
I keep thinking it would be funny if that were the real return address but the person tasked with the mailings wasn’t bright enough to put a fake one on.
Hey, it was their first day.
I guess we’re supposed to believe it was that criminal family that worked for her who sent them.
And I’m still not seeing the media raise the obvious point that the package in the picture was not, in fact, mailed. Or that the post office won’t actually mail a bulky package in an envelope like that.
Those envelopes are teeny tiny. Just look at the pictures of the CNN Device. We’re talking six inches long at most. I’ve had larger merchandice arrive via envelope from Amazon.
But the lack of postmark is a bit of a giveaway.
I’ve had larger merchandice arrive via envelope from Amazon.
Yeah you have!!
* gives UCS a knowing shake of the shoulders*
I was thinking more shape than size. Don’t envelopes have to be more or less “flat”? That thing is something I would expect the PO would require to be put in a box.
Nope. If it fits in the envelope, they don’t give a rat’s rear end.
I’ve had larger merchandice arrive via envelope from Amazon.
Plain brown wrapper.
“So apparently the sticker on the bombs said “Git Er Done” in a faux ISIS font with silhouetted mudflap ladies? What the hell.”
A perfect parody of what team blue agitators believe the deplorables would do.
But they didn’t even get it right — it’s git-r-done, nor git-er-done. Obviously fake.
tbh that’s a pretty awesome sticker
Made me laugh:
If that isn’t a meme by sundown, I’m going to be very disappointed in the internet.
“These are essential services for the safety of residents in Minneapolis, and if we shortchange them, we are basically gambling with the safety of both our residents and our visitors in the city.”
I thought not defending yourself was the proper response? Isn’t fighting back just as bad as being bullied? Not only that, it’s toxic masculinity. We can learn a lot from this kid.
Speaking of the “pipebomb” incident, lefty friend decides to bring up the subject to me by saying, “America might not exist by the time you get back.” Also in the little circle, most of my colleagues were absolutely incensed that Republicans/Right-Wingers could fathom the idea that it could have been a false-flag operation. I’m not certain on every detail about it, but whoever did it had a twisted sense of humor and I hope the authorities catch the perp eventually.
One of my more unhinged, proggy friends honestly thinks that Trump is going to start rounding up dissidents and putting them in camps.
I said, “If you really thought he was Hitler, you wouldn’t be posting screeds online about him.”
He got mad. Then he defended assaulting people for speaking opposing views. The irony was utterly lost on him.
We tried, my man. We tried.
He can’t even get a wall built on the border.
Remember when cattle cars and internment camps were the feverdreams of FEMA-obsessed right-wing nutters? I ‘member.
That was like 564 years ago
I guess I shouldn’t restrict it to right-wingers. The only authentic FEMA conspiracy theorist I’ve ever known is a Bush-hating hippy woman who was convinced that the feds were going to round her and her child up and cart them off to the camps.
“…her child…”
That kid is in for a fun ride.
The ‘Antifa’
violent riotspeaceful protests would have been force-ably stopped by now.Which is why it’s better to call it a hoax rather than a false flag, because in either case, that’s what it appears to be.
Yup, but man, I really dig the 48 hour rule.
“Americans don’t say good morning. Maybe because I’m black.”
“I only say good morning to dogs.”
“I’m sorry, I don’t speak English.”
Maybe you live in a place where the mornings aren’t good, and you’re part of the problem.
Baltimore Sun endorses Republican
For some Maryland voters, the issues we’ve just described are irrelevant. This election, for them, is about nothing more or less than registering a vote of approval or defiance of the president. No question, there’s something appealing about the idea of electing a civil rights leader in the age of Donald Trump. But there’s also much to be said for re-electing a Republican who is willing to openly stand up to his party’s leader, and who does so in a calm, measured, positively un-Trump-like way.
We have our disagreements with Governor Hogan. His decision on the Red Line, in particular, we will have a hard time forgetting. But in considering the totality of his record, we conclude that he has lived up to his promise to govern in a way that reflects Maryland’s “middle temperament.” He was the right leader for Maryland during his first term, and we believe he will be again for a second. He has our endorsement.
Hogan has managed to thread the needle of being just Republican enough to keep his supporters without alienating too many undecideds in this solidly blue state. He may still lose, but at this point it will be entirely for reasons beyond his control (see: Robert Ehrlich, 2006).
That having been said, there is no such thing as a “civil rights leader” anymore. Besides the fact that the great civil rights battles of yesteryear are over, the civil rights battles of today have no leaders standing on the side of civil rights. From the NAACP to the ACLU, the “leaders” have all taken the opposite sides. I’ve yet to see an individual who is willing to buck that trend and actually defend civil rights, apart from mostly isolated individuals with no political or social capital.
I should perhaps say, I’ve not found anyone of note who will consistently stand up for civil rights.
I don’t see the bomb stunt working out too well for the left, whoever ends up being found responsible.
That’s the thing that strikes me most about this. I’m not hearing a resounding call from the left to disavow violence and embrace civil, respectful discourse. Trump may not be a fan of polite, respectful behavior, but there at least are Republicans and conservatives who are still calling for adults to behave like adults. The left from top to bottom seems to be dominated by hypocrisy and vitriol in this regard.
I think this guy has a crush and Melania and this is the equivalent of throwing rocks at her on the playground.
Unless he’s gay, then he’s just a little bitch.
He’s definitely gay and a bitch.
Christ, what an asshole.
He’s camp, certainly. Absolutely a little bitch.
Refers to himself as “catty” in one of those tweets, so yeah, definitely gay.
I just won the fuck out of that interview. Will be able to write, proofread and edit projects on my own time without any quotas or obligations. They absolutely love me. Pity the full-time gig doesn’t pay enough to really be worth my time. I get the pay structure and invite to their in-house platform tomorrow.
Everything is coming up Milhouse!
Congrats.
Time to go get hammered.
But where is he going to find the parachute pants?
They said that you weren’t funny.
They lied.
I am very much ahead of you. Probably 12 hours or so.
Congrats.
A la bonne heure!
Nice. Does this mean you can still try to go out with a bang with your boss?
I will vaguely try. My god I want to though.
I will get a pic of her–if history continues forth as predicted–incredible Halloween costume at the party tomorrow.
I am wearing my fancy Da Nang-made blazer, fake eyelashes and bloody bareknuckle boxing wraps to be something like the Kray twin mixed with Clockwork Orange. I love that jacket. It needs to be displayed. That was such a fun experience getting it tailored. It’s a pity it’s a bit asshole-y to wear out like normal. I might have to change that.
Go as Topper Harley Rambo look with the Candy mashed in gloves instead of glass from Hot Shots!
For Reference.
Congrats, man. Hope you enjoy the gig and have a good time.
Nice!
Congratulations!
So this mean you’re going to make a move on your supervisor?
Yeah! Congrats!
Red Dead Redemption preloaded, bitches.
Isn’t that one already out? Shouldn’t you have preloaded RDR2?
OH snap!
Consumer Reports Hates America
Volvo takes the very bottom spot, but every American automaker is ranked right above them.
Funny, every time I say Toyota and Lexus aren’t american automakers, people mention the factory I toured in Kentucky where they’re made.
Though the main thing that dissatisfies me about my Ford in the fact that it was made in Detroit. I didn’t want to put money in the UAW’s coffers.
I helped build Georgetown: conveyors.
Funny thing about that tour – it made me dislike Toyota even more.
15 years building cars here: Toyota easily my favorite car company (engineering and manufacturing competence)
The Americans are all caught up now, but I generally hate working with them
Cadillac is worse than Tesla? I don’t remember any rogue Cadillacs killing their drivers.
The drivers in those incidents were unavailable for comment regarding owner satisfaction.
Cadillac is so bad my 90 year old neighbor, who refuses to buy anything made by a bunch of Nips, had to sell his year old pimp-mobile and upgrade to a Buick.
My grandfather has the same attitude and has had to deal with the less-than-stellar reliability of American and Swedish cars as a consequence. It’s funny to me, the racism aside (he fought in Germany but hates the Japs much more), because he supports all of the policies (environment, labor, safety, etc.) that contributed to the decline of American automakers.
I think everyone’s grandfather was like this. Mine just turned 95 and only stopped driving recently, and has never owned a foreign make. Hell, he’s hardly ever owned anything that wasn’t a Chrysler or Dodge. I can remember a Caprice back in the ’80s, but that’s about it.
I don’t buy foreign cars, even if they’re made in the US.
They’re all foreign cars, to one extent or another. You can optimize for where the parts come from, the final assembly is done, or where the profits end up, but there’s no such thing as a 100% (or even 80%) American-made car anymore.
You mistake me. My Focus came from Mexico. Where they’re made is not the key factor.
You mistake me. My Focus came from Mexico. Where they’re made is not the key factor.
so what is? The blue collar Buy American thing was always silly, became incoherent when international part supply chains became as complex as they are now, but at least they had a confused idea why they wanted to buy American What’s your reasoning?. Home stock exchange for the company?
Well the Cadillac killed some people but that was after the driver suffered a stroke. Not really the cars fault.
Grandpa died peacefully; his passengers were screaming.
Rogue Subarus, on the other hand…
No surprises there
I have no idea what they are talking about with the Audi A3 being the least reliable Audi. Mine was boringly reliable until the day I turned it in.
Driving it until you ran out of gas and buying a new car doesn’t count.
Audi: All the Audi models that we have sufficient reliability data for rated average or better, although the scores were not as high as they’ve been in previous years.
While I would certainly consider the “infotainment system” not working to be a problem, I don’t know that I would give it the same weight as the engine, transmission, drivetrain, brakes, wheels, tires, or safety systems failing. Those could leave you dead or injured, the other… could leave you unentertained.
I’ve had infotainment system crashes in both the Mazda and Infiniti (Mercedes). It’s a pain in the ass as you have no radio or navigation until you restart the car. They tell me satellite updates will fix the glitch. Better than a bad transmission.
Have the same thing with my Lincoln MKS. The front speaker is works intermittently, and the hands-free audio only works through the front speaker. Not to mention the temperature going up to HI all on it’s own at times. I hate electronics in a car even if it is cool when it all works.
My wife’s rear view camera crashes on a regular basis. Oh, just replace the piece of shit camera, you say.
Yeah, I’m not paying almost $350 for a shitty backup camera
Well, if you’d stop backing into things, it wouldn’t crash as often.
*glares at Mrs trshmnstr*
You buy a Volvo if you want your wife and children to be in a small tank when driving. The only thing that people are ever going to think about if they consider buying a Volvo: “Will this sustain mortar fire?”
My Volvo weighs twice as much as my other SUV. That’s why you pay the hefty price tag. Not the silly amenities.
They’re boxy, but they’re good…
That’s sad, Volvos used to be very reliable.
It’s curious that the GMC badging of platforms they share with Chevy score better. Cognitive dissonance: it’s got to be good because I paid $2,000 more? There are some real option differences at GMC, but you’d think they would add complication and put durability at risk, not improve it.
BMW HVAC problems don’t surprise me: they had the weakest HVAC program of any OEM when I worked with them.
But the offices in München are amazing.
Now here’s a man who really knows how to earn my vote.
Latest trendy thing for nuts who believe in population control. Bugs are better for the environment or something.
Note that there has never been a year of your life when global food production per capita has not increased and cost of food per capita has not decreased.
Well, I know from last nights post that you shouldn’t eat bugs before having an orgy with old people. Otherwise, whatever.
“Georgia town plans to round up all its pedophiles and put them in city hall on Halloween to keep children safe
A town in Georgia has announced its plans to round up all of the pedophiles currently on probation and make them spend the night in City Hall on Halloween to keep children safe while they are trick or treating.
There are between 25 and 30 pedophiles who are still on probation in Grovetown, Georgia. ”
Networking seminar?
But all the pedos not on parole get free reign? Sounds like some collusion.
I think a city attorney might have whispered to the people making the plan that they can’t actually make the people who’ve finished their sentences stay there.
OMWC’s plan is coming to fruition.
Now he knows where he’s spending Halloween.
Winning comment:
If they’re that dangerous, why aren’t they in jail?
Needed space for the dope-slingers.
If they can call it a military necessity, then they’ve got Korematsu on their side.
Yeah, that’s gotta be unconsitutitional.
They’ll probably just put it in the larger-than-usual FYTW clause that applies to parolees.
“Also on Wednesday, CNN initially reported that another suspicious package with a device was addressed to the White House and intercepted at Joint Base Bolling in Washington. However, a person familiar with the matter told Reuters that no such package was found addressed to the White House, and CNN walked back its report. Later, the San Diego Union-Tribune offices were evacuated after a stack of suspicious-looking packages were spotted outside the building. Additionally, New York governor Andrew Cuomo announced his Manhattan office received a suspicious package, but police later said it was not an explosive device — it was reportedly a flash drive that contained files about the far-right group Proud Boys.”
Let me start by apologizing. Lots of shit going on at work this week. So I haven’t been able to keep up with the bombing stuff.
I’ve heard that it was delivered via USPS and that it was a courier. The pics I’ve seen all have stamps on them, so I thought USPS would be the logical delivery method.
Anyhow, I was going to ask if they were delivered by USPS why the FBI hasn’t nabbed them. Has everyone already forgotten that USPS is already spying on us hard core.
So is this another example of how we snoop on everyone but when needed it doesn’t end up helping?
Some were snail-mailed, some were couriered.
I wouldn’t be surprised if USPS told the FBI “They came from Debbie Wasserman-Schultz” because that was what was on the return label.
“Let me start by apologizing. Lots of shit going on at work this week. So I haven’t been able to keep up with the bombing stuff.”
If you can’t offer wild and unsubstantiated allegations then no one wants to hear your measured and thoughtful take. Do you even modern politics, brah?
Sorry, J-Say. I’ve been using up all my wild accusations and unsubstantiated allegations during work meetings. New project owner started the kickoff by admitting that there is no clear “goal”.
We promised a client we would accept data in a certain format and use it. How that happens or what would make the client happy are all unknown at this point. A lot of us are probably wandering down to the mail room in hopes that we could find a bomb to explode in our faces and get us out of this deal.
We must share some sort of salesmen pool.
<a href="here“>Not a bad article from the BBC. Interesting, if extremely chilling, read.
You mean they’re not actually happy camps? I am shocked.
I was informed by a highly reliable member of the LGBTQ++- that the Soviet Gulags were happy summer camps filled with laughter and cake and games.
So you’re saying Gulags are Gay?
I mean, they had gays in them, if that counts.
China has no conservatives so there’s no need for the left to ally themselves with the Muslims. When the right is destroyed in the West, the Left will try to reeducated the Muslims here too.
China has conservatives. In fact, they’re the ones in power right now. However, they’re still leftist.
Put another way, the Girondin also sat on the left of the National Assembly. There may be nobody around on the right side, but they’re still the more conservative faction.
You don’t say
Problems with small turbocharged engines and new automatic transmissions with more speeds joined the ever-present sore spot of infotainment controls as leading offenders.
Domestic automakers suffered from “a bunch of new vehicle introductions,” Fisher said. “New transmissions and small turbos were the big culprits.”
For example, problems with a new nine-speed transmission sent owners of the popular Buick Enclave and Chevrolet Traverse SUVs to dealers for repairs.
“Consumer Reports’ reliability survey matters because reliability matters to consumers,” Cox Automotive senior analyst Michelle Krebs said. “Regardless of brand, model or category of vehicle, reliability always ranks as No. 1 — by a long shot — in Kelley Blue Book’s BrandWatch, which asks consumers what is important to them in car buying.”
Toyota Motor Co. stands head and shoulders above other automakers. Its Toyota and Lexus brands have topped CR’s reliability study every year but one — and Toyota’s short-lived Scion brand won that year.
——–
Toyota’s had its share of problems, from recalls to unintended acceleration, but the company’s reputation for quality and reliability remains intact.
Fisher credits the company’s hesitancy to adopt new technologies. Toyota just began offering small, turbocharged engines, years after many competitors. It takes a leisurely approach to most technologies, he added.
“Sometimes not being first, and taking your time, pays off.”
Huh.
Toyota was ahead of the curve on hybrids, though, weren’t they?
Toyota’s had its share of problems, from recalls to unintended acceleration
political problems. wake me up when Toyota has mechanical problems.
Subaru’s new Ascent runs a turbocharged 2.4L 4-cyl in a car weighing 4500lbs that’s made to carry 3-rows of passengers. color me skeptical this was a smart decision.
Toyota has a masive problem – it’s Toyota.
political problems
Well put. I imagine if one created an index of cars produced divided by defects, Toyota’s rating would be at top and nearly twice the nearest competitor.
Has there ever been a more incompetent bomber in history. Shit you would think one of those would at least go off by accident. All immediately intercepted without incident.
The bomber is so incompetent I’m starting to think it actually was Debbie Wasserman Schultz.
Almost…..
Shortly after the Chevy Cruze was excreted into the marketplace, it was my misfortune to rent one for a long drive. I found myself asking, “Who approves these new designs? Don’t they even test drive these shitboxes before they start making them?”
Well, when you name a car after the Zodiac Killer…
The Chevy Cruze may have its flaws but it’s still way better than the Chevy Beto.
Maybe there is a connection between Seth Rich and Julian Assange:
Meh.
I remain skeptical but if the fact that the NSA may have signals intelligence regarding communication between the to that’s pretty newsworthy.
“Regarding” does not mean “to” or “from”.
Thats why I included skeptical and may as caveats.
Fair enough.
Meh is right. The documents that are “responsive to [Clevenger’s] request” could include things like some Russian official laughing about the Seth Rich conspiracy theories or an Islamist terrorist talking about Assange with his buddy because of what he read in the news. Without release of more details, it’s meaningless.
any information regarding Seth Rich and Julian Assange
Reading that very literally, the request was for information about both of them, not either of them. If the NSA read it very narrrowly and literally (as I expect they would), this is a request for information about both of them. The distinction might be this:
(1) Julian Assange emails having nothing to do with Seth Rich – not responsive to request. If the request was for information on Seth or Julian, these emails would be responsive.
(2) Julian Assange emails to or from Seth Rich, or perhaps even mentioning Seth Rich – responsive, and they have 32 pages of them.
I don’t know if the request named a time frame. Since the murder, I would expect there to be plenty of mentions of Seth Rich in Julian’s communications, which I would expect to be comprehensively monitored by the NSA.
Maybe. Depends what was in the actual FOIA request. I did some searching to find it but didn’t come up with anything.
And the agencies are famous for torturing the language of the requests until, as is traditional, they say what the torturer wants.
Got my new barrels yesterday – a 1 liter and a 2 liter. They have been rinsed and are full of water now. Just in time, too – the first two are done; my last batch of rye just won’t quite turn the corner, and the last batch of Manhattans took way longer than the one before. I’ve got a 90 proof rye lined up for the 2 liter (can’t recall the name off the top of my head), and some Legado Blanco tequila for the 1 liter. If the barrels look like they are swoled up and sealed tight, I plan to load them tonight.
awesome. how long you going on that tequila?
No idea. I think the first batch will probably take at least two weeks, maybe three, but I don’t know if the tequila will age faster or slower than rye. It all depends on when the taste test says “Yeah, baby. That’s the stuff.”
Somewhat related… have you ever considered buying a full barrel of bourbon?
No. First, there’s the cost. Second, a barrel holds over 50 gallons. Now, I like my booze, but it would take me years to drink that much.
Well try try try again.
Just think. Gifts for the family for years to come!
Or you could just make custom Glib Bourbon.
Say, are those Al Franken’s hands?
Speaking of the funnyman…..
Good grief. I was just talking to somebody the other night about trucks. It’s not like Ford is in any danger of having me walk into a showroom and buy a new brand new truck, but there is no way in Hell I will ever believe you could spend a summer dragging a race car trailer all over the western United States behind a turbo V6 pickup truck without blowing it up.
oh yeah. they call that “ecoboost”. hahaha good one, Ford.
I had a Subaru from the mid-90s with twin turbos. Now I love my Subarus, but that was a complete disaster.
