Today is a really big day for me. I’ll tell ya’ll why tomorrow. But its a big day for me. So my stress level will be high. But hopefully the Astros will bring it down a peg or two. Just like the Brewers did for their fans at the end of that pitching masterpiece last night. They’re up 2-1 now. The pivotal Game 3 is on tap for tonight.
In other sports, the Packers topped the 49ers to cap the week in football. England beat Spain in a wild one in the UEFA Nations League and your NHL winners were: Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa and Nashville. Hey, a trifecta of Canadian teams winning. Nice job, America Junior.
Lexicographer Noah Webster (sorry, Miriam) was born on this day, so were noted pervert Oscar Wilde, Isreali statesman David Ben-Gurion, Irish revolutionary Michael Collins, actress Angela Lansbury, annoying sportscaster Tim McCarver, rocker C Fred Turner, actress Suzanne Somers, guitarist Bob Wier, director David Zucker, quality actor (but idiot) Tim Robbins, bassist Michael Balzary, and baseball player Bryce Harper.
Its also the day these things happened: Napoleon was defeated in the Battle of Leipzig, “Jane Eyre” was published, John Brown carried out his raid at Harper’s Ferry, BYU was founded, “Pygmalion” premiered, noted racist Margaret Sanger opened her first clinic, TE Lawrence met Faisal Hoessein for the first time, the “Long March” began, “The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe” was released, CCR broke up, Pope John Pail II was elected, Messi made his Barcelona debut, and the Million Man March was held.
Some heady stuff there. Now on to…the links!
A new caravan of Honduran “refugees” heads toward the US border to seek asylum. I guess they couldn’t find a single Mexican immigration official along the way to whom they could ask for asylum.

Elizabeth Warren decided to get a DNA test, of sorts, after all. The aftermath could not have been what she planned. I guess she doesn’t realize a lot of people out there actually understand math, especially statistics. Among those who can court are leaders of the Cherokee Nation, apparently.

This is a bit of an overreaction, in my opinion. But its Florida, so we’ll have to wait and see how it ends up.
The first song. The second song. And the last song. Sorry, deadheads. The rest of you: you’re welcome.
Go have a s great a day as I hope to have, friends.
Today is also “National Dictionary Day” and “National Learn A Word Day”. May I make a suggestion:

Here’s one more suggestion, bitches.
Here’s one for the glibs
Is everybody still in bed?
at 3 o’clock in the afternoon? I should hope not.

This must be some kind of joke.

Not to cast a pall on your morning Sloopy but Pope John Paul was pretty good, not at all deserving of being turned into some sort of chamber pot or john pail.
Damn you, damn you to hell!

Come on, we at least have to look them over for typos.

Oh yeah, I forgot that essential part of the morning routine: the flaying of the author over typos because he’s rushing to get to getting kids ready for school and then on to his professional day.
Listen, it’s harder on us than it is on you, but it’s for your own good.
Everybody’s favorite pope; because he’s useful at the beach?

Can President Avenatti just tack that onto the 2 million bucks he owes to his former law partners?
He should get Gloria Allred to repres…oh yeah, she’s about to have her license taken away too.
Watch her still get her CBS show.

So now that both if his plans have gone down the toilet, when do we see this idiot disbarred?
Man, and the timing couldn’t be better for midterms. God damn, Trump is either a Wile E. Coyote supergenius or the luckiest sonofabitch on earth. Or, more likely, he’s blessed with stupid enemies.
I think the evidence is clear and has been mounting. What paperwork do we need to file, to register the Dems as the stupid party. Of course this means the GOP can step up into the Evil party shoes.
I think Trump is the Road Runner in this scenario – just running around, doing what he does, occasionally stopping to go “BEEP-BEEP”; blissfully unaware that the timing of his noises serve to accentuate the failure of his enemy.
He reminds me of Obama in that he couldn’t have gotten any luckier with his political opponents.

I stopped by Tap House in Munich which you recommended many months ago. It’s a good place. I didn’t stay as long as I would have liked because the bartender that night looked far too much like an ex-girlfriend of mine. Next time I’m in Munich I’ll spend more time there.
glad ya liked it

Hey Sloopy; whatever is up, good luck, man. I hope you have a banner day.
Seconded.

I wish good luck to Sloop as well, but c’mon. OSU vs Rutgers is like an NFL team vs a high school team.

Trump- agent of genocidal chaos!
It is difficult to trace causality in foreign affairs, but there is little doubt that Trump has reduced the cost of oppression and political murder in the world by essentially declaring it none of America’s business. And when you reduce the cost of something, you get more of it. U.S. indifference on human rights abuses is taken by other governments as a form of permission.
The story of a journalist killed while picking up documents for his wedding is particularly powerful. But the aggregation of such horrors — the sum of killing and human misery at this historical moment — is stunning. The Trump era is also — perhaps not coincidentally — the age of mass atrocities. And the United States’ president is not concerned enough to be ashamed of it.
WHYCOME HIM NO POLICE THE WURLD? Nothing bad ever happened in the world when the Democrats were in chrge!
Seriously- it’s not our fucking job to enforce political stability in every corner of the world. Maybe it would be nice, but it ain’t gonna happen.
And, Mister Gerson neglects to mention that much of the mayhem in progress around the world is a pretty much inevitable endpoint of the sort of “democracy” he and his pals are cheerleading.
Hey remember from 2003 to 2008 when foreign intervention was “cowboy diplomacy” that was destabilizing the world and oppressing the brown people?
He wants to return to the successes of Obama’s interventions, like Libya.
“the age of mass atrocities”
The places most of these atrocities occur in just so happen to be part of a region the US “Leadership” had been destabilizing for two decades. But lets not mention the horrible record, and just talk about how wrong it is that we aren’t doing anything. Even though we have been doing things for forever.
And when you reduce the cost of something, you get more of it.
Better be careful throwing around that kind of crazy talk at Wapo.
TAXES AND REGULATIONS DON’T COUNT!!!1!!!!
you left out subsidies and welfare.
And when you reduce the cost of something, you get more of it.
Ok, let’s lower the cost of government then? How about slashing the funding by 50% for starters.
So he’s advocating a war of global conquest? Because if we owned the whole world, we could police it.
I think he’s advocating we take out one of their journalists in retaliation. Maybe a drone strike.
“the sum of killing and human misery at this historical moment”
SERIOUSLY?!???? So our invasion permit is pretty tied up right now. But I think I can talk my bosses into a little low-level biological dispersal. We do have a variant of the norovirus on the shelf
Meanwhile, unprecedented talks are happening between North and South Korea.
Kek.
Mister Gerson is just mad one of his journalist cohorts was killed. I bet he hasn’t mentioned shit about the ongoing genocide in Yemen before it touched one of his kind.
Umm what was Rwanda and Kosovo?

Israel used to have a steady stream of Sudanese and Eritreans arriving through Egypt, or in the case of Eritreans, Egypt and Sudan. Some legal reforms and, of all things, a big ol’ border fence have slowed that stream to a trickle. Go figure. How to deal with the ones already here is an ongoing debate, though.

Truer words have never been uttered. Good riddance you fuck. His voice is legit triggering for me.
Probably because he used it to say soooo many moronic things.
I remember back when I still watched tennis occasionally. They had John McEnroe come on as an announcer, and I thought “great – that fucking jerk”. Instead of being a giant ass, he was really observant and insightful, to the point where even I noticed how much better he was than the regular slobs.
OMG I can’t even! He said SERENA was not good enough to win the men’s championship so problematic
My money says McCarver’s favorables amongst Cardinals fans is high: most people who love the team easily acquired a taste for his content, whimsy, and nasally Memphis delivery; Fox has the numbers, and I suspect he is welcome to sit in for as long as he wishes. Note also from that article that STL has the best local viewership share of any MLB team, which, if you know remotely anything about the baseball tradition there should come as no surprise; McCarver is huge chunk of living history.
McCarver is one of the few erudite commenters going: he has a more than basic grasp of American history and culture to help him sprinkle in fun, complementary bits, but, in 2018, the tangents had lost their relevance; at least one of the wheels had come off, predictably producing at least one crazy-uncle-Thanksgiving-table goose-chase each broadcast. His base draw remains: an excellent grasp of the past half century of NL history and an fairly unforgiving perspective on the shoddy execution of fundamentals in the game today: woe onto he who doesn’t take third from first on a Texas-leaguer to right.
A little Tim goes a long way, admittedly, but he’s either family or he’s not. I can’t explain why I continue to just drink Jack although I’ve found any number of other wonderful whiskeys on this planet; I just like coming home to a snifter of the familiar, and McCarver isn’t the first familiar Southerner in that booth my clan has defended. St Louis was both the western-most and southern-most MLB club until well into the fifties, and so the heartstrings endure, radiating into the Midwest (many houses divided), Mid-South, the Plains, and even further to the occasional Georgian who thinks of a Braves game as a cheap place to spend the day drinking during Reagan. Most of us just laugh off McCarver and remember stories like the ones my great-grandparents told of listening to the Gashouse Gang on KMOX during the Depression; at 50,000 watts, the signal could be heard from Canada to Mexico on a good night. During the War, those games would be called by Jay Hanna Dean, whose Arkansas twang and witticisms became more pronounced as his afternoon of tippling went. It was endearing, it was home, and it bound together flyover country together.
I also suspect there’s a weird racial element binding some to STL: a lot of Black retirees associate STL and even McCarver with the unapologetic, intelligent violence of Bob Gibson. He threw fire, he brushed back back batsmen, and he hit whomever needed hitting. In that quiet, independent, no frills, Jim Brown act like you’ve been there before way, he ferociously pursued the game and forever changed it by leading 1968, the Year of the Pitcher, with the lowest ERA ever: 1.12; thereafter, of course, the mound was lowered to literally level the playing field between pitchers and batsmen. Gibson is from Omaha, a fact further galvanizing MidAmerican solidarity behind the team. Blacks might also share an odd pride in Curt Flood’s refusal to be traded to the Phillies, leading ultimately to the demise of the reserve clause and the establishment of free agency in the MLB; STL was on the wrong side of history that time (and never lead race relations anyway, Branch Rickey’s management notwithstanding), but I’m not so sure that some perverse pride in the fact attaches.
TL/DR.
McCarver is a pompous ass of a broadcaster who makes Johnny Miller (the golf one, not the Giants announcer) seem like a gracious fellow.
I think Johnny Miller does is entertaining but I like Faldo more.
You know what gives me the creeps: Joe Buck looking at the camera when his co-analyst or guest is speaking. Something really strange going on with that fake smile. Reminds me of politicians at a debate.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yX3aXfkGBac
Short version: he’s a tard, but he’s OUR tard.
Thanks, Ken.
Thanks to MLB.TV I was able to hear McCarver on local (out-of-town) broadcasts, and like others I groaned at hearing his voice. But then the content coming out of his mouth was much higher quality than I had been used to on national broadcasts.
As I’ve aged I’ve come to realize that the directors of national baseball telecasts – Fox, ESPN, TBS, (and CBS before) are morons. (NBC wasn’t too bad except for Costas.) The directors WANT crap because they don’t know jack shit about baseball – they ask for dumbed-down comments and the announcers try to do what is asked. I give Smoltz credit for refusing to dumb it down to the level McCarver did, but Smoltz should probably stop commenting after every goddamned pitch.
Interesting. I have a similar comment above regarding John McEnroe above. (DGAF version – much more insightful than the regular dweebs.)
It the announcers could just strive to be like the aforementioned Jon Miller and Joe Morgan team who are fan-fucking-tastic.
What’s your team?
Subtlety is lost on Americans, it seems: thinking through an at-bat’s sequence is too hard; the art of the deke is unknown. Only the 100mph heater and the third deck homer garner any attention anymore.
I card 100 games a year and was recently musing on having recorded an inning with four strikeouts….which was met with “unpossible!”

Now that you’ve taken the first step and admitted you have a problem, I’m here to help Straff.
There is a 12 step program to help you overcome the unhealthy relationship you are in with the Purple. I have to admit that I fell off the wagon last year for a bit. The sight of Diggs running into the endzone was too much for me. I called my sponsor but he was already deep into the Purple drank and I went on a bender for a week or so.
It does get better.

Biological infestation!
Throughout our existence, humans and other hominins have hunted other mammals, first for meat, and then for pelts, trophies, trade, and more. Since the last Ice Age, more than 300 species have gone extinct, including mammoths, woolly rhinos, and thylacines. A quarter of the remaining 5,500 species are endangered, thanks to one species: us.
A sobering new study by Matt Davis at Aarhus University throws these losses into stark relief. He estimated how long it would take for mammals to evolve enough new species to replace the ones that we have eradicated. And his most realistic answer is somewhere from 3 million to 7 million years. That’s at least 10 times as long as we have even existed as a species. We have inflicted such grievous wounds on our own family tree that the healing process can’t possibly happen “on any kind of time scale that’s relevant to humans,” Davis says.
STERILIZE STERILIZE!
The human race is the worst thing ever. What a bunch of slobbering yahoos.
Developed brains and opposable thumbs have consequences.
I wonder if whatever eventually displaces humans will feel guilty about it. Probably not.
“mammoths, woolly rhinos, and thylacines. ”
Just want to put this out there, but I’d guess the end of the last Ice Age probably put a damper on these guys life styles.
Because teh humans caused teh GLOWBALL WARMENING!!!11!!!!!
“He estimated how long it would take for mammals to evolve enough new species to replace the ones that we have eradicated.”
Regressive, not Progressive, thinking.
Here’s a thought: what if the “purpose” of Earth, of natural selection as a system even, is to produce a species like us? Maybe the entirety of the natural world is a machine geared towards producing a sentient species capable of dominating it, and all the various forms of life are grist for the mill, so to speak.
Maybe humans exist because the earth wanted plastic.
Mars needs women.
Actually, though, humans are much smarter than we need to be for evolutionary success. Humans could, and did, dominate the world with just fire, the spear, and the bow and arrow.
And we’re no smarter now than the guys who invented spears and bows and arrows.
Except for guys who invented all of the modern technology.
Not really. Technological advance is cumulative. You’re not smarter than da Vinci because you have a running water and a car.
That’s why I said invented, not possessing.
I think he meant the actual person doing the inventing. I.e da Vinci is smarter than the common person. But I agree everything we have now is accumulated knowledge and wealth over millennia.
Course I’m smarter than those Italian fags. Whycome they got born in the middle ages and not now when we got AC and pickup trucks?
I can’t speak for everyone, but I think I’m probably substantially simpler than the bedouins who figured out how to calculate the curvature of the earth and the motion of celestial bodies using rocks, shadows, and reflections 5,000 years ago. Without the cumulative body of human knowledge at my disposal I’d likely have figured out exactly enough to keep myself in food and rudimentary shelter and not much else.
Without the cumulative body of human knowledge at my disposal I’d likely have figured out exactly enough to keep myself in food and rudimentary shelter and not much else.
Even that is giving us too much credit. There is a reason our population growth matches up fairly closely to our accumulation of knowledge and invention. Without those great minds of the past maybe 1 in 30 of us would exist.
Actually, Jack London notwithstanding, I’d say we are, since we’ve got several hundred generations of selective breeding going on, plus those of us in the first world get a healthy enough diet to realize our full potential.
I get this, but I think we only seem smarter when what happened was we shifted to the new threats and opportunities: we just do different things now than trick bison into running off cliffs.
Intelligence is a weird animal, literally. You put a dog in front of a sheet of glass with a pile of snacks on the other side and he licks the glass, whines, and plops down; put a squirrel in front of a sheet of glass with a pile of corn on the other side and it promptly runs around the glass and starts to chow down. I don’t know that means the squirrel is more intelligent: that’s just the problem it is suited to solve, like wending one’s way through the forest from tree to tree, limb to limb: squirrels gonna squirrel.
When watching television is no longer a competitive skill, we might be in trouble.
“Tools.
That’s what keeps us separate from the monkeys.”
I can’t tell you how many times I have had to say that at work.
99% of the species that have ever existed have gone extinct for various reasons.
I only regret the loss of other species in so much as it affects my quality of life or the sustainability of the human race.
I am most definitely a speciesist .
Thank doG that dinosaurs went extinct before the EPA came along. It would be just my luck to buy land where the occasional T-Rex roamed.
“I’m sorry sir, but you can’t build a wall to protect yourself or even think of shooting a T-Rex. I don’t care if you have kids. You will just have to have enough of them so that a few aren’t gobbled up while playing in the back yard.”
Maybe T Rex tasted like roast duck! Did you ever think of all the delicious stuff I never get to eat because it went extinct! So selfish with your whining about “Oh it ate my family”
How to tell if you’re part of a mob
What part of Charlottesville was the Mob? Cause it seemed fine until the cops forced the alt-right into the huge mob of Antifa.
CNN is the worst. I refuse to read anything they put out.
A mob, or the mob?
The Mob Goes Wild
I’m actually a fan of the CNN documentaries based on the decades, like “The Sixties”, etc., and while I’ve noticed that as they get closer to the present they get increasingly biased towards Team Blue and the left, they said one very, very true thing in “The Nineties”. On the topic of the rise of cable news, one person said something along the lines of, “News becomes more commentary than actual reporting, because it’s expensive to send reporters out into the field, and for the first time you start to hear news anchor start most of their statements with ‘I think’, because it’s really just their opinion. But that gets lost in all the editing and people start missing that part and just taking it as fact.”
The girl in the middle. Caption time!
“This is so lame. When do I get my check?”
“I’m tired. When do we stop?”
A mob is what we saw in Charlottesville, Va
Yes, and the mob in Charlottesville was the Antifa mob that disrupted an otherwise peaceful protest.
This seems to be a recurring theme. All over the country, Antifa groups announced that they are going to violently disrupt a peaceful protest. The mayor, city council, or Sheriff announces that they are not going to intervene. Then the Antifa crowd violently disrupts the protest or meeting or whatever. Then there is violent confrontations between individual groups. And then it gets reported as right-wing Nazi group event turns violent.
Yesterday we had a story out of New York where there was a group of proud boys coming from some sort of meeting. According to the police, they were attacked within 30 seconds of leaving the building. The police story is that they were physically assaulted by a group. Then several of the proud boy guys beat up some of the people that attacked them.
So the proud boy guys are being charged with rioting, Mayhem and mob violence. They’re trying to charge them with felony assault, but they are having a hard time finding the antifa people to press charges.
This is just the official story. This is not the right wing proud boys spin on the story. It is actually what the police say. We have a group that walked out of a building, another group circle around police and physically assaulted them. They responded in kind. And they are being charged with rioting.
That’s just mentally ill right there. I have no use for these people, but any human being has a right to self-defense. You can’t come up and punch me in the face and expect that I’m just going to stand there and let you punch me. And it certainly isn’t a criminal offense to punch back.
But the Democrat mayor who has publicly supported the antifa protesters has said that he is going to make sure that these right-wing groups are prosecuted to the full extent of the law. Nice to know that you New Yorkers have a legitimate government that isn’t looking to use the legal system against political enemies.
Well, when the Kavanaugh hearings were going on, the importance of the rule of law was bandied about, with one side coming down firmly against it. When you don’t have the rule of law, you have the rule of men, which is arbitrary, capricious, and unjust. Just like they want it. No coincidence that NYC gun laws are so prohibitive as to effectively end the second amendment within the city; meanwhile the mayor has so much as said he plans on using the police against his political foes. In any other country we’d describe that situation as a dictatorship and somebody’d be on CNN arguing that we conduct drone strikes.
Well they won’t let me on CNN but I am perfectly willing to advocate for drone strikes against those responsible.
The first arrests were against three “antifa” members. We shall see how it all sorts out, but until then it’s not accurate to say the government is siding with either side. Yet.
“Unlike Bigfoot or the Loch Ness monster, these mobs were repeatedly captured in crystal-clear video footage”

Good morning Yusef, good to see you back.
Quick HVAC question for you!
My heat pump will not turn on, or it will turn on and then immediately off, if I set the thermostat above 66. 66 or below runs perfect. On 67 or above, the “heat on” on the thermostat begins flashing and then disappears. A/C runs perfect at any temp, this only for the heat setting. It’s not especially cold outside, so it shouldn’t be due to that.
Do you think it might be the thermostat? Or does it sound like something more serious with unit itself?
Sounds like you’re reversing valve isn’t shifting, but I’ll defer to yusef.
Thanks, I’ll read up more on that.
Check to see if you have batteries in the stat
count hot many wires are hooked up to the stat, if 5 then check for 24 volts across the R wire and the C wire
Lach is right, it sounds like a short at the reversing valve.
Check the low voltage wires going into the Condenser, they may be damaged.
Thanks for these suggestions, and I’ll see what I can do. Fixing the reversing valve may be beyond my ability, but it’s good to know where to start.
The valve has a plug that you can use to test the Solenoid, watch for the Fan!
You can replace the Solenoid, but the RV is expensive and involves Torches and Vacuum pumps, etc.
RV definitely sounds beyond my ability. And very expensive.
66 sounds like a fine winter temp to me. Unfortunately, my wife does not feel that way. 68 was a huge battle.
Good to see you posting!
🙂
Serious question… Can anyone recommend a good book re the Salem witch trials?
When I was in school The crucible was big, because McCarthy was a dummy. But I don’t know, it might be banned now because of #MeToo
Thanks!!!
It’s a play, not a historical treatment.
(1) Devil in the Shape of a Woman; (2) Entertaining Satan; (3) Devil’s Dominion are all pretty good.
Add The Devil in Miss Jones to your list…
BTDT 😉
Thanks so much 🙂
“The tweet in question constitutes ‘rhetorical hyperbole’ normally associated with politics and public discourse in the U.S.,” the ruling reads. “The First Amendment protects this type of rhetorical statement.”
Make the first amendment great again!
She has also been ordered to pay his legal expenses.
Ouch. But I assume this is standard.
If you take the names out of it, you’d assume paying legal expenses would be the just course of action.
It’s normally only ordered in cases where the judge finds the claim frivolous, in other words you don’t get legal fees if you win, you get them when the judge thinks the case should never have been filed.
Jewish man punched to the ground, attacked in Brooklyn
“Afzal, who was off duty at the time of the assault, was charged with assault as a hate crime, criminal mischief and harassment”
((((Them)))) Privilege eh?
This is what bothers me. It gets reported as ‘Jewish man attacked’, and he gets the extra Hate Crime charge (stupid by itself) but do we have any evidence this v was motivated by the guy being a Jewish? I mean why stoke more racial animosity…
Because it can be spun into the Literally Hitler narrative that Secret Nazi President is stoking anti-Semitic fervor.
Because Secret Nazi President hates his son in law, daughter, and grandchildren?
Shit. I gotta get Cortez and Becky on that.
They won’t play the video for me (racist), but this one certainly looked like a “hate crime” given the way it was described. You’re right that it’s bs. Interesting to see the intersectionality of hate crimes played out in the courts.
“but this one certainly looked like a “hate crime” given the way it was described. ”
I have to be missing something. It could have been road rage, but I can’t see anything other than their say so.
Although not mentioned in the article, a witness in the video claims he heard the attacker saying he hated and wanted to kill all the Jews.
Ok. Stupid videos.
This is another problem with the category of hate crime. Spewing forth some sort of bile in the middle of a heated argument or physical confrontation is a normal human thing to do.
If you got in a bar fight and some dude was wearing Louisville Cardinals gear, you might yell something about his stupid Cardinal hat. If you was a redhead you might call him a freckled-face m-f-er.
it’s not because you hate people with freckles. It’s because you were hurling an insult in the moment of anger.
This is one of the more accepted tendrils of the social justice Warrior movement, but everyone should have the right to be a dick in the middle of an argument. It’s kind of the point of being in an argument. it isn’t a Manifesto on your personal beliefs about other races, ethnicities, genders, political belief systems Etc. All that stuff basically means is that you are angry and you want people to know it.
Even if it’s not a heat-of-the-moment outburst and you actually do harbor deep resentments and animosities against people with characteristics common to the person you attacked, it still shouldn’t be a crime. The action you took on those resentments and animosities should be a crime, but not the resentments and animosities themselves.
Exactly so
I don’t think it should be a separate crime either, but it’s also silly to pretend the motive is super mysterious like with all the aloha snackbar attacks in Europe.
If you beat the shit of out of someone for supporting a different sports team than you, it paints a different picture of you than if you beat the shit out of someone for killing your dog.
Oh yeah, it’s something you could bring out during trial if need be. Motive isn’t irrelevant per se.
True, but hurling insults in the moment isn’t the same thing as why did I do it.
A couple of drunk 19 year old assholes getting in a fight in a bar are going to yell stuff at each other. Pretending that whatever they are yelling is the be-all, end-all of their motivations which is kind of silly. That’s what I was trying to point out. Call people names when you get in a fight. You say things that you think will hurt your feelings or make them angry. That’s kind of the point of a fight. You’re expressing anger. Whatever the reasons for the anger.
Example:
https://youtu.be/XvijyBIgazE
Also not mentioned in the article – guess because it’s two days old:
– The “hate” crime was dropped
– The attacker has a long rap sheet
Schwartz
Use the Schwartz
My friends really don’t understand that this is why I detest hate crimes. As we all know, it is nothing but a Thought Crime. I don’t give a shit if you give a man a beating because he’s Jewish. I give a shit that you gave a man a beating.
“Well, what harm can these crimes do?”
“Hate crimes are just an addition to the layer of crimes that the police can blanket over a person in order to Damocles-dangle more prison time on the alleged perp. That makes it more likely for people to plea deal out without a trial, even if they are innocent–cost benefit analysis maybe. And it does absolutely nothing to lessen supposed racial/ethnic animosity.”
*Always a blank stare*
I didn’t click on the article, but I didn’t see anything in that excerpt where his being Jewish had anything to do with anything. Sometimes a Jew and a man with an Arabic-sounding name just don’t like each other. But race-baiting gets ‘dem clicks, yo.
Sometimes a Jew and a man with an Arabic-sounding name just don’t like each other.
For large values of “sometimes”.
I hate paying taxes.
I should be charged with a hate crime if I ever neglect to do so.
I keep seeing arguments that this group, like all the other ones before it, are really refugees. I thought that word was a legal definition. I assume one they don’t actually meet.
No, they are actually economic migrants looking to get in on the US welfare state bennies.
Right. Economics isn’t enough. I don’t think “local violence” is too.
The real question is, how did this giant group form?
We Know from past experience that US based groups have organized migrations like this in order to do political damage to Republican Administrations. For some reason, nobody seems to think that it is even in polite, let alone evil to disrupt thousands of people’s lives and perhaps and dangerous some of those lies along the way just to score some political points.
But I’m sure that this is all just a coincidence and there is nothing about the upcoming midterm elections that has anything to do with the timing of this giant group marching On the Border. I mean, obviously a bunch of Migrant workers don’t have a dog in that fight and don’t understand the timing of American election Cycles. They just want a job, a roof over their heads and a nice place to raise a family.
So who is it that has a bunch of money and wants a large group of Latino immigrants camping out at the border?
I’m even willing to be an optimist and say they want to come here to work and make money because their current country is a shithole.
And every one knows it is a shit hole. But heaven help you if you call it one.
Facing #MeToo accusations, Indian men retaliate with lawsuits, claiming they are the ones under attack
In a 41-page letter to Delhi’s chief metropolitan magistrate, Mobashar Jawed Akbar, minister of state for external affairs, accused journalist Priya Ramani of “wilfully, deliberately, intentionally and maliciously defaming the Complainant [Akbar], on wholly and completely false, frivolous, unjustifiable and scandalous grounds.”
So, no bobs and vegana then I guess.
An interesting story about bee hive theft. Never crossed my mind that it would be a thing until reading this.
California’s almond harvest has created a golden opportunity for bee thieves
There’s a documentary series on Netflix called Rotten. The first episode is all about honey. They talk about fake honey, honey counterfeiters, and a large bee heist (which may be the same one that article was talking about).
Reading VDH stories about California farm country, it sounds like anything not nailed down and actively guarded will be stolen there.
The cops need to set up a sting operation to catch the thieves.
That thing which you did there did not go unnoticed.
I’d check with the locals to see if anyone recently got the hives.
*slow clap*
After the thieves take the bait you have to comb the area.
The cops? Those bumbling idiots?
A honeypot might work better.
We had a honey bee queen swarm in our tree a few years ago. I put up a FB post and had people racing each other to my house to capture them. Bees were gone within 20 minutes of putting up the post.
There is good money in selling honey.
I have no idea of the truth in the claim, but supposedly honey that is locally produced will help immunize you from whatever local allergens are in your area. I know a few guys who make some pretty good side money selling locally made honey.
Fourscore raises honey and he is super active and healthy, so I think you need to get a large NSF grant to followup your hypothesis Lach.
On the other hand, watching Fourscore work his ass off at this year’s Honey Harvest makes me think that the tradeoff might not be worth it. (Fourscore tried to get me to work, but I threw my kid into the pit of despair instead).
meh I find that hard to believe…. the allergy thing
That is because you have sissy ass metric bees.
Huzzah!
It’s settled science!!!!11!!
Seriously, though. Isn’t it generally agreed that kids who play outside and are exposed to dogs and cats generally have less allergies as adults? Or is that just anecdotal or even “old wives tale” type stuff?
Check out the “Hygiene Hypothesis.”
Yes the hygiene theory holds some water although allergies are insufficiently understood for anything conclusive. But people who are exposed young to allergens usually get fewer allergies. Also people who have animals around growing up get less asthma I think
That or they just aren’t as big of pussies and can ignore a rash or closed esophagus.
Pope John Pail II was elected
Pail?
Pale. He meant to write pale.
Now I realize this a fairly pro-Israeli site, and I myself am to a fair degree, but this seems a bit much:
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/wires/pa/article-6266221/Israeli-court-orders-New-Zealand-women-pay-damages-axed-Lorde-show.html
An Israeli court has ordered two New Zealand women who wrote a letter to Lorde urging her to not play a concert in Israel have been ordered to pay $12,000 in damages.
Sounds symbolic unless the women were actually in Israel.
It sounds symbolic of their failure to understand the basic human right of freedom of speech.
A skilled lawyer might be able to make a case for tortious interference, I guess.
Where are you gonna find a good lawyer in Israel, huh? Everybody knows all the best lawyers are Jewish.
I have run into a few Anti-Israel Libertarians lately. They aren’t just end the funding of Israel Libertarians. They are full on Israel is a terrorist state types.
I’m all for ending the funding we give to Israel. And south Korea. And Japan. And western Europe. And…
Me too
Just keep the troops in Romania and Poland.
Dont you guys have vampire brigades?
Nobody is going to attack a country with vampire brigades.
The whole Middle,East is a shitshow and always has been and we should STFO of their affairs. That not to say we shouldn’t be trading with those countries but other than that forget about it. No Blood & Treasure. While the Palestinian terrorist groups are pure sociopaths, I can’t say I have much love for many the Israeli settlers who appear to have the full support of the government.
As am I.
The money we give to Israel is, in a lot of ways, a payoff to them so they don’t go start any wars without us doing it first. Stopping paying them off will help us in the short and long term and will probably help Israel in the long term.
Maybe not so good for the rest of the Middle East though.
The most recent memorandum of understanding also stipulates that the money given to Israel gets spent on U.S. made equipment. In some ways, it’s also a jobs program for the American defense industry; the money doesn’t just disappear into the ether.
I have no dog in that fight whatsoever. The victimization game being played by the left is squarely putting a lot of unfair pressure on Israel to “accommodate” the Palestinians. Bullshit one sided guilt. Guess that makes me pro Israel.
There’s no shortage of history there. The Lew Rockwell/paleolibertarian contingent tends to vary from “stereotyping American Jews” to “Hitler did nothing wrong” on the anti-Semitism scale.
Israel does some bad things but given the context and their options terrorist state is rather much…
I guess I’m pro-Israel to the extent that I think the Palestinian issue is neither Israel’s fault nor their responsibility, and Israel catches a lot of shit for it because there is a distinct anti-Israel bias. On the other hand, Israel absolutely influences American foreign policy in their favor beyond what I’d find unexceptional or harmless. I still remember Israel blackmailing us with the threat of selling classified defense tech we’d given them as part of a foreign aid package (with the understanding that it would remain in their country) if we cut back on the foreign aid budgeted to them, some time in the early 00s, as I recall. And it’s not a huge secret that they sell a lot of our stuff or jointly-developed tech to China, which is just a tad hypocritical when they bill themselves as our most vital ally against terrorists and dictators in the Middle East.
Hey, this is totally my beat!
All I can really say, though, is: dumb law; sadly we have lots.
Fuck off Tulpa!
Trump’s Superpower: Making His Opponents Do The Stupidest Possible Thing
President Trump has a superpower. His superpower is that he can irritate people into doing the dumbest things imaginable. How else to explain Senator Elizabeth Warren’s (D-MA) hilarious self-own today, in which she, in preparation for a 2020 run, released a DNA test supposedly showing her Native American ancestry – a test that showed she was somewhere between 1/64th and 1/1024th Native American? That test provided no solid evidence of Native American ancestry – and even the Cherokee Nation slammed Warren:
A DNA test is useless to determine tribal citizenship. Current DNA tests do not even distinguish whether a person’s ancestors were indigenous to North or South America. Sovereign tribal nations set their own legal requirements for citizenship, and while DNA tests can be used to determine lineage, such as paternity to an individual, it is not evidence for tribal affiliation. Using a DNA test to lay claim to any connection to the Cherokee Nation or any tribal nation, even vaguely, is inappropriate and wrong. It makes a mockery out of DNA tests and its legitimate uses while also dishonoring legitimate tribal governments and their citizens, whose ancestors are well documented and whose heritage is proven. Senator Warren is undermining tribal interests with her continued claims of tribal heritage.
Tim McGraw would also like a word with her.
It seems like DNA testing is another one of those things that people should only treat as fun information unless they’ve got a whole lot more training.
I know a person in their early 20s who recently found out they have a significant Jewish contribution in their DNA (maybe 1/8?). Since they are a Christian, they’ve now taken to describing themselves as a Messianic Jew. Fortunately, this person is open to other’s viewpoints and my wife & I were able to persuade them that, since they were raised in a middle-class, white, conservative Christian home, they probably shouldn’t declare themselves to be a Messianic Jew during a classroom presentation.
They were way off. Technically your mother has to be a Jew, right?
If your mother’s mother’s mother was Jewish, you’d have 1/8 Jewish ancestry and be considered Jewish by Jewish religious law.
It’s still matrilineal though, so if your dad’s mother’s mother was Jewish you’d have the same 1/8 ancestry, but you’re not in the club. I don’t think the mail-in DNA kits can tell you which parent made the genetic contribution.
Also, Jews for Jesus sounds way cooler than Messianic Judaism, so that should be the preferred nomenclature.
Mitochondrial DNA is passed on maternally only, so it’s possible there are specifically matrilineal markers same as there are Y-chromosome markers which would be passed from father to son. Whether that happened in this particular instance, I have no idea.
I took the test 2 years ago. Genetic makeup came back roughly 1/2 German 1/4 Irish 1/4 Scandanavian. The tests update as more people submit their DNA. I’m now 1/4 English 1/4 German 1/4 Irish 1/4 Scandanavian. There are also small outliers that aren’t necessarily accurate for example I’m .2% Jewish. It’s very possible that Warren’s Indian DNA is an error. From my understanding Europeans actually have more genetic variation, even if they and their ancestors have always lived in the same country. You’re not going to learn much other than a continental level of where your ancestors are from.
I did one a year ago and got 3/4 Great Britain/Western Europe and 1/4 Scottish and Irish, which I thought was low. Just checked again and it’s 51% Irish/Scottish, 46% England/Wales/Western Europe, and 3% Norway, which fits more with my own research and family stories. My folks on my dad’s side show up in Maryland/Virginia in the early 1700s, hang out in SC for awhile, then work their way to Gadsden by the 1800s.
Yes. I did Ancestry DNA a while back and my results just changed dramatically. Under the old categories, I was something like 35% Europe South (Italy in my case), 30% England, 20% Ireland/Scotland/Wales, 17% Scandanavian (which came totally out of left field), and tiny bits of others. After the update, they tell me 55% Ireland/Scotland, 29% England/Wales, 11% France, tiny bits of others. The Italian just vanished, which is weird because I know for a fact that my grandfather’s parents were Italian. Only thing that would make sense is that the France bit is from them, because the little map they show you for France includes a slice of Northern Italy near where my great-grandparents were from.
You know who else was concerned with people’s percentage of Jewish blood?
SF would like a word with Tim

I saw a documentary and I’m pretty sure most indians are Irish…
In a decade we’ll be hearing tepid mea culpas about how the left should have taken Warren’s sins more seriously, similar to their slow-motion realizations re: Bill Clinton.
I’d like to create an Elizabeth Warren meme, but I’m not sure how to depict 1/64 of a headdress.
One feather? Or is that too much?
I was thinking of one of those motivational things like this one.
Just change the caption to:
Homeopathy
It doesn’t work for water and it doesn’t work for tribal membership
If I had better photoshop skills, I’d make one of her throwing a kitchen sink out the window and walking into the sunset.
Here’s a good visual…

The Warren 1/2020 memes are amusing, but to be fair it should be Warren 2/2020.
I think The Onion won the Warren wars

What cup size?
Scott Adams’ survey was pretty good.
Savage responses.
The world needs cartoon villains, too.
There’s something about Newt Gingrich that seems to capture the spirit of America circa 2018. With his immense head and white mop of hair; his cold, boyish grin; and his high, raspy voice, he has the air of a late-empire Roman senator—a walking bundle of appetites and excesses and hubris and wit. In conversation, he toggles unnervingly between grandiose pronouncements about “Western civilization” and partisan cheap shots that seem tailored for cable news. It’s a combination of self-righteousness and smallness, of pomposity and pettiness, that personifies the decadence of this era.
In the clamorous story of Donald Trump’s Washington, it would be easy to mistake Gingrich for a minor character. A loyal Trump ally in 2016, Gingrich forwent a high-powered post in the administration and has instead spent the years since the election cashing in on his access—churning out books (three Trump hagiographies, one spy thriller), working the speaking circuit (where he commands as much as $75,000 per talk for his insights on the president), and popping up on Fox News as a paid contributor. He spends much of his time in Rome, where his wife, Callista, serves as Trump’s ambassador to the Vatican and where, he likes to boast, “We have yet to find a bad restaurant.”
But few figures in modern history have done more than Gingrich to lay the groundwork for Trump’s rise. During his two decades in Congress, he pioneered a style of partisan combat—replete with name-calling, conspiracy theories, and strategic obstructionism—that poisoned America’s political culture and plunged Washington into permanent dysfunction. Gingrich’s career can perhaps be best understood as a grand exercise in devolution—an effort to strip American politics of the civilizing traits it had developed over time and return it to its most primal essence.
Newt ruined America. He turned a collegial club into a dog-eat-dog free for all. What a monster.
I miss the good old times when republicans were nice and politics uncontroversial. I blame the USSR
“where he commands as much as $75,000 per talk for his insights on the president”
Just wait till this guy hears how much the Clinton’s were charging for access to the SoS.
When I think of a modern day manifestation of late Roman Empire senatorial excess Andrew Cuomo comes much more readily to mind then chubby Georgia boy Newt.
Squirrel ‘with very large breasts’ drives Japanese social media wild
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-6277409/Squirrel-large-breasts-drives-Japanese-social-media-wild.html
This should surprise no one.
Huh. That park is 20 minutes from my house. I may have to take some pics and report back to you guys.
You should dress it up like a schoolgirl. Lol.
I’m laughing so hard because I have a mental image of the breathless coverage of the Japanese press when they catch Straff titty fucking that squirrel in a park.
Fun fact: “Kuri to Risu” means “nut and squirrel” and also “clitorus”.
also “clitorus”
If I was some beta soy boy, I’d be ashamed I didn’t know that (my wife is also fluent in Japanese, having gotten her undergrad degree there).
The Japanese are an interesting bunch.
When I was in Tokyo, I offended a lot of coworkers when we got onto the topic of hunting and I told them my favorite game to eat is squirrel. They do not see squirrels as a game animal. It would be like a Chinese guy talking about how much he likes shooting and eating cats.
I could never understand the hunting or eating of carnivores…..or even herbivores.
During college I skinned critters at a taxidermy shop in Cooper-Young, and one day I go in and there’s a bobcat and two otters waiting on me; I just turned around, walked out, and never went back.
I don’t know why I feel this way.
a bobcat and two otters waiting on me
That sounds like the start of a Jesse story.
All over Japan, furries are busting a nut.
Japanese provacateur Okeeferu dressing up in disguise to bust ACORN?
Don’t give Q any ideas!
I give it 30 days before some studio releases a furry hentai starring the squirrel.
Large breasts? I bet the Q verdict is a no.
Somewhere, there’s a squirrel version of TheChive featuring that hot piece of squirrel ass.
Donald Daters, a dating app for Trump supporters, leaked its users’ data
I guess all they have to do now is send that list over to the MiniLuv and deport those involved for reeducation and surgical castration.
Finding weaknesses is one thing but exploiting them and sharing the data is a shitty, and I would guess, illegal move.
Yeah. That’s Black Hat Shit. Professional Security guys will find a weakness and only expose it after attempts to get the owner to remedy it have failed. This french guy can be in a bunch of trouble.
I… don’t think that qualifies as “research”.
Is this for real? Isn’t Elliot Alderson the main character from Mr. Robot?
Heh, nice catch.
Fake news.
Fair news or a cover for a black hat hacker?
Hard to believe #resist has anyone competent enough to remain hidden for long.

Ok, boys, I have to do an online test for a job interview that I have tomorrow. I’ve never done one of these like this. I’m going to get a prompt and have to create a writing sample. Then it goes to the next phase and I have a timed proofreading exam. I’m more nervous than I should be, though my contact says it’s very easy.
They won’t tell me how long this will take…which is stupid. So hopefully I’ll be around later when my piece drops. I hope y’all enjoy simple ol’ me.
Wish me luck.
Are you going to at least wash your piece before dropping it on us?
Also, don’t worry about the test, you’ll be fine.
I shan’t wish you luck because you won’t need it. You’re going to Kavanaugh the shit out of it.
Never go full Kavanaugh.
Wait Kavanaugh it in what way? Yell at it for falsely accusing him of rape? Or abuse the tests 4th amendment protected rights?
Drink a lot of beer and grope it’s tits, obviously.
Secret gang rape parties, then use your status as a Federal judge, along with a cabal of corrupt FBI agents, to cover up and silence any indication of your constant raping.
(conspiracy theory I saw on DU somewhere)
DU embraces Pizzagate?
No luck, use skill, you spell gooder than most,
Upload the questions to glibs and we will fill it out for you.
Like an Agile Cyborg Writing Contest?
simple answers FTW ?
Just don’t use the word penis.
That’s always good advice for a job interview. Doubly so if it is in writing.
It’s true. Interviewers prefer the term “schlong”, either as a noun or as a verb.
Gary Johnson: You know him.
“I’m not a Republican. I’m not a Democrat. I’m a
libertarianNew Mexican.”What’s the over/under on how long it takes for one of his opponents to run the Aleppo clip?
He’s such a nonentity that even the local libertarian think tank hasn’t mentioned him since September.
How is he polling?
RCP doesn’t even have him ranked. Looks like Dems take back the governorship. I’m not sure it matters, we’re a solid blue state anyway.
By those numbers it looks like they’re not even including him in the polling question.
And Martin Heinrich is a fucking weasel with a very punchable face.
Fuck, I’m an idiot. Here’s the Senate polls. He’s breaking even with the Republican. If only he weren’t splitting the vote, the Republican could lose by a slightly closer margin.
It’s a great ad on the face of it. Is he running against anyone useful?
That was my thought, too. Obviously he wasn’t in control of making it.
That hard break from the lazy Thomas Hayden Church-voiced guy to the rah-rah flag BS and the second VO is terrible.
Also, ditch the lo-res photos.
My Grandfather on DNA testing – “It dont make a shit who your daddy was. The only thing that matters is what YOU do.”
Ugh. I am going to drink some chicken broth and sleep off this hangover.
Sounds like white privilege talking
Also I though eggs and bacon was for hangovers. Chicken broth is for colds, unless there is some vodka in it
Exactly. Otherwise, adopted children might as well just give up. If genetics are all that matters, then people could be raised in state funded breeding farms and it would make no difference.
The only cure for vodka induced illness is more vodka.
Come on suthen. Get with the times. What group you identify with us what defines you, not your own personal characteristics.
with us
So… just give up now?
It dont make a shit who your daddy was
The Bush and Kennedy families prove this more of an ideal than a truism.
“Pride should be reserved for something you achieve or obtain on your own, not something that happens by accident of birth. Being Irish isn’t a skill… it’s a fucking genetic accident. You wouldn’t say I’m proud to be 5’11”; I’m proud to have a pre-disposition for colon cancer.” -GC
“Elizabeth Warren decided to get a DNA test, of sorts, after all. The aftermath could not have been what she planned. I guess she doesn’t realize a lot of people out there actually understand math, especially statistics.”
The best way for Trump to troll her ass would be to get his DNA tested and releasing the results if turns out he has more Native American DNA than she does.
I was thinking the same thing…that would be epic (or any random whitey from his admin-some of them certainly have more then her).
*I* have more and I would never consider myself Indian. Hell, it’s almost a guarantee that someone whose family has been in the Southwest for a significant amount of time (as mine has been) would have more than her. My great-grandmother (which makes me an eighth (?) ) was an actual Indian from the Oklahoma panhandle. However, I’ve never lived on the Rez, nor had tribal membership, nor applied for BIA status; BECAUSE I’M NOT A FUCKING INDIAN.
Warren is a POS and this is a massive own goal, not just for her but for the Dems and identity politics as a whole.
Seriously. All she’s doing is attracting attention to all the fraud she committed in the past. Stupid, stupid, stupid.
Not any random dude in his admin. Get the ones who have been accused of being white supremacists to take the DNA tests. (I’d give actual names here, but I don’t keep track of who the crypto-racists are)
Imaging the fucking laughs that would be if the neo-Nazis end up having more victim cred points that Warren.
“I don’t keep track of who the crypto-racists are”
Everyone here by default?
All white people are crypto-racists. You must work especially hard to disavow your privilege before you’re considered redeemed. (Hint: the left will never, ever consider you redeemed.)
Ben Carson would be interesting.
Not a real black person, so he doesn’t count.
Maybe Trump should pay for everyone to get the test and then start a tribe with anyone who has more than her.
This, plus the timing of the Affirmative Action lawsuit against Harvard is serendipitous.

Americans fear they can’t identify social media bots
I hope Pew had the courtesy to give them a reacharound.
I’ve heard of a think tank, but what’s a fact tank? An org that churns out facts to support The Narrative(tm)?
Seems low. Based on my experience, 3/4 of America can’t tell the difference between a parody social media account and the real thing.
A bot is anyone with a Russian accent, duh.
Pssh – that’s easy:
“Describe in single words only the good things that come into your mind about your mother?”
I, uh….
I ask Gingrich whether he, as someone who follows Washington crap rather closely and does not have kids to drive to soccer, worries at all about the mounting evidence of coordination between Russians and the Trump campaign.
Gingrich guffaws. “The idea that you would worry about what [Michael] Cohen said, or what some porn star may or may not have done before she was arrested by the Cincinnati police”—he is revving up now, and his voice is getting higher—“I mean, this whole thing is a parody! I tell everybody: We live in the age of the Kardashians. This is all Kardashian politics. Noise followed by noise followed by hysteria followed by more noise, creating big enough celebrity status so you can sell the hats with your name on it and become a millionaire.”
This sounds like it’s intended as a criticism of our political culture, but given his loyalty to Trump—arguably the world’s most successful practitioner of “Kardashian politics”—I can’t quite tell. When I point out the apparent dissonance, Gingrich is ready with a counter.
“If you want to see genius, look at the hat,” he tells me. “What does the hat say?”
Sugarfree is Newt Gingrich. I never saw that coming.
“Mounting evidence of coordination between Russians and the Trump campaign.”? That deserves a guffaw, if not a sock on the arm.
“Mounting evidence against Brett Kavanaugh.”
“Mounting evidence for Lizzy Warren’s Native ancestry.”
“Mounting evidence that Trump ordered that journalist assassinated and dismembered in a Saudi consulate.”
Mounting evidence of Mounties mounting mountain goats.
the mounting evidence
I assume “evidence” means something different to this author than it does to me.
Not only is it ‘mounting’, but it’s ‘credible’ too.
I really don’t live on the same planet as these people.

What a confusing article.
Who is doing this?
Not seeing a lot of this from the right, but the conclusion of this makes it seem to be Trump’s fault.
It’s insanity. These people are disingenuous hacks. The only times I feel like I have to walk on egg shells is with hyper liberal personalities. The most conservative people I know really could careless if you disagree with them because they inundated with media of people who disagree with them.
If trump hadn’t won we would have had Hilary and everything would have been peachy keen.
Irrationality fuels the suppression of people speaking their mind. While both sides have, it the left is overflowing with it. Its not worth debating someone when they have a meltdown because you say something you don’t like.
Page 74 of this paper (note, they cluster the US population into 7 categories along a uniaxial spectrum, which are from left to right – Progressive Activist, Traditional Liberals, Passive Liberals, Politically Disengaged, Moderates, Traditional Conservatives, Devoted Conservatives)
This is the paper that got condensed into that Atlantic article a week or so ago, isn’t it? Looks interesting, but I don’t know when I can fit a 160 page paper into the schedule.
Probably. Lots of news outlets have mined it for stories.
I would need to look at the raw numbers to see how valid their categorization is, but it feels truthy. With that caveat, I’d recommend it.
Its only like 140 pages with lots of pictures and white space. I think it took me less than two hours to read, and I’m an incredibly slow reader due to dyslexia.
The behavior of the Dems on the Judiciary Committee toward Kavanaugh was so kind, decent and respectable; they really needed to turn the screws on him more.
I love how they pretend that they were civil prior to Trump. We should just accept our inherent racism and cede all authority due to our low moral standing.
I love how they figure there was no fear and anger before trump. If there wasn’t anger and fear the carnival barking outsider probably wouldn’t have been elected.
They figure the people that elect these clowns have no agency and are brainwashed yokels. There are some really stupid people, but nearly every person I know who voted for Trump knows exactly who and what he is.
ChimpyBushMcHitlerburton might disagree.
Every British swear word has been officially ranked in order of offensiveness
So you could air this, but only after 9?
shouldn’t they be busy working on common sense knife control?
They seem to like the euphemisms for female genitalia.
Pretty much the entirety of Spike’s dialogue: https://youtu.be/ngDt4LwvjcE
Ahead of midterm elections, Facebook expands ban on posts aimed at voter suppression
What happens if he still wins?
Will they shut the internet down? Send people to camps?
Only until you’ve spend your required time in the speech camp and learn to say nice things about democrats.
Should the people who can be fooled into believing you can vote by text message be voting? I’m going ro say no.
So they are going to censor GOP voter education efforts?
I liked this one right after it:

There’s just something about the way you shake that booty, grrrrr
It’s almost unbelievable how natural its movements are. I’m inclined to think that’s CGI but know better. BD is killing it. Would’ve been fun to patrol with those things when I was in the Marines.
Ot – But I’m proud of the kid and want to brag. My 19 year old, nebbishy but brilliant, nephew has just been hired as the house rabbi of some school in Beverly Hills. So-so pay but room and board is included. Scholomo is a great kid and the complete opposite of his muggled layabout of a brother.
Mazel tov!
To be fair, I do aspire to muggled layaboutery but wifey and kids seem to enjoy living in a house and eating food so it’s back to work for me. Sigh…
I was flipping channels last night and saw Bill Kristol on MSNBC.
Watched a little out of morbid curiosity.
They showed Trump talking to Lesley Stahl and after he said something about “I wouldn’t need to call on Russia to win an election, are you kidding me?”
Bill thought it was unbelievable because we had a video of Trump asking Russia for Hillary’s emails and all the other panelists quickly agreed with him.
I actually recorded it to show my wife, it was so preposterous.
Somehow this is solid political analysis?
Bill Kristol is a damned joke. If it weren’t for liberal media outlets wanting to trot out “conservatives” against Trump, he would be cleaning toilets at CUNY.
William Buckley minus the brains and the charisma.
Nah. Buckley, every once in awhile, could stumble over a principled position.
I know Kristol in the most NeverTrump guy in the world, but I seriously can’t remember what his policy beefs with Trump are. Not enough wars in the Middle East?
He’s mad because Trump is not obsessed with dropping 15 million dollar bombs on poor sheep farmers.
“Here’s your damn hat, now can we can we go kill some rag heads?!”
Kristol, Max Boot, and the mustache should get their own show.
“I got some video here, check this out. Whoa, that raghead blew up real good! And the children’s hospital in the background behind the blew up wedding party, that’s what really does it! Hey, Maxey, put your dick back in your pants, we’re on live TV, you can’t masterbate right here!”
Yeah. Mostly this.
I attended a talk by Kristol some years back. I asked a question about the interaction of the economic health of the U.S. and a big military build-up he was proposing (that should probably read always proposing). Not only did the guy not answer my question, the sneering way the guy danced around it made utterly clear to me that he was utterly lacking in any kind of intellectual substance and compensated for it by repeating platitudes that fit the predilections of his very small audience.
It was one of the tumblers that clicked in my shift from conservative to libertarian.
That was a good shift on your part, but honestly I wouldn’t tar conservatism with Kristol. The neocons stole the name conservative as a skin suit just like the proggies stole the name liberal.
I know he was always smug about his NeverTrumpiness, but not why exactly. Trump wasn’t a real conservative?
I don’t remember him being this disingenuous, but TDS is a helluva drug.
Bill’s always been a lightweight using his father’s legacy for his own fame. And daddy was the very definition of a neoconservative, aka a commie who didn’t like drugs or sex.
Wasn’t his pop a Trotskyite?
Yes
I don’t remember him being this disingenuous,…
Bill Kristol has always been disingenuous. He only skates around it by surrounding himself with people who won’t give him much challenge.
Siding with progressives to own Trump doesn’t strike me as the most conservative thing in the world, but my puny mortal brain can’t fathom the eleventy-dimensional chess games played by our elites.
Is it just me, or does Jeff Flake always look like he’s about to start crying? Dude is the most Emo looking fuck I’ve ever seen.
All the broken noses probably messed with his tear ducts.
He looks terrified that he might have to make a decision – one that his voters and financiers don’t agree on.
The cuckiest of cucks.
Why stop there? Cut US aid everywhere!

Those people are useful idiots. The dems sure as hell won’t shed any tears when they’re arrested and banned from entering the US again.
This article gets it right in that ridicule is the appropriate response to bureaucratic stupidity.

Sluttier schoolgirl outfits.
They’re right that the court will skirt any actual policy issues. And whatever ruling comes down will apply only to Harvard and only to Asians.
Kennedy sided with the liberal wing in Fisher II. Kennedy is not on the court any more. I don’t know that we’ll see the same amount of reticence to take on this issue with K on the court.

If those Orientals were good people, they’d stop being so successful. How can we have equality with those slant eyes fucking up the place?

TW: Autoplay (it’s getting harder and harder to block that bullshit)
She’s kinda hard on the eyes….she aint gonna walk.
The kid even filmed it and showed it to his friends. Eww! That would have gotten him beaten up back in my school days, along with being made fun of, forever. If you gotta fuck an ugly chick, you don’t brag about it. Poor kid is retarded.
Offshore your shit.

I was told I was a horrible, horrible person by someone at the TOS because I am a dual citizen. I’m trying to remember who it was. It wasn’t Tulpa in his slave name form.
What fraction you figure here and at TOS are open border types? My guess 30% there and 55% here.
I’d halve those percentages, personally.
Freak!
*points finger, hisses a la Donald Sutherland*
You are a horrible, horrible person, but that has more to do with your links and some of your articles than anything to do with your citizenship.
Fair enough.
A while ago, we were discussing the economic recovery of Europe after WWII. This is a good article on how it came to be.
https://notesonliberty.com/2018/10/15/economic-liberalism-and-rebuilding-europe-after-wwii/
Controversial, but in line with my thinking.
Woops, forgot the third paragraph I wanted to quote.
Damn, but Lindsey Graham is just killing it.
Holy shit, that’s funny right there, I don’t care who you are.
He’s not so bad now that bad influence named McCain isn’t around anymore.
The leash is off?
More gems from the video.

He stands a good chance considering she showed zero Cherokee.

“Horseface”
ROFL.
LOL, he actually tweeted that? Guy has my vote, I don’t give a fuck what else he does!
Oh my God.
And the crazies are all over it like a laser toy. What a world.
Poor Stormy. Not only is she a washed up ho, but now she’s horse face, lol.
Absolute madlad.
Is this real life? Because it’s awesome.
So he’s admitting to being a total con?
Scrolling down through the repartee, I see a Germanic Jesus in a MAGA hat. Neglecting that poster’s intent, it did make me think about the kinds of projections that are part and parcel of our culture; it is at a minimum a doubly fair observation on identity politics.
It’s not a good look when you use a word nobody knows twice in the same article. But what a great word it is!
“obsequious”?
Maenads.
It is a great word.
perfectly cromulent
I though Menards when out of business?
nope. they are spreading south like reverse kudzu.
purple and clairvoyant
Lots of big words in that article, yet it’s not a word salad.
Yeah, he gets right to ‘Paradoxically’.
I would expect nothing less from VDH.
I opened the patio doors and closed them back. It’s a little chilly out. I cut the 6 best looking suckers I could find on my tomato plants and put them in some water. I think I’m going to buy some LED lights and have winter tomatoes. Never tried it before.
We had some frost here in northern Ohio, with the lows hovering right around freezing all week. No fall weather this year for us, most of the leaves didn’t change color.
Doesn’t look like we’ll have frost there this month. Typically first week of November.
‘here’
where ya from?
does everyone call them suckers like I was raised to do?
Maryland. Not from here, but here now. I’m from Ohio, the southern part. I thought everyone called them suckers.
Who knew
I’ve traveled and worked all over the country for three decades now, and I’m still astonished at how little I know- how often I’m wrong. The things I though were tribal are often universal, and the things I thought were normal turned out to just be my native hillbilly BS.
All I know that is people here call pop, soda. They must be retarded or something.
I grew up outside of Pittsburgh (Let’s go Pens!) and it was always pop until I joined the Marine Corps, an then everyone looked at me like I was speaking a made up language when I asked for a pop.
“so were noted pervert Oscar Wilde”
Are you really saying that gays are perverted? Because that’s fucked-up.
I was thinking of quibbling at that until I realized I don’t know enough about him to judge, beyond noting that being gay doesn’t preclude him from maybe being a pervert.
He may be gay but he’s still a man. We’re a debauched species.
That’s quite a leap to make. Only hetero’s can be perverts?
It’s Time For The Left To Stop Idolizing Oscar Wilde. He’s A Pervert
Don’t feel bad commenters and contributors, we Founders never RTFA either.
Didn’t the last group say the same thing, but Mexico made them keep going?
Or did nothing happen because most of them didn’t make it all the way here?
So many “unprecedented” things to be “deeply concerned” about that I don’t remember
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I was scared you were going to respond with a Russian roulette link.
I didn’t realize there were still people in Honduras. I thought all of them are already in NOVA.
I have a confession to make. I have no idea what “google+” is (was). Not a clue.
I think it is/was their attempt to compete with FB.
Neither did Google.
+1 microsoft zune
I guess Warren is somewhat self aware. Her twitter page has been purged of yesterday.
I can’t believe she posted that with a straight face and didn’t think she’d get called on it.
The internet won’t forget.
Nevermind, it is all back now. *shrugs*
I’m not given to superstitions, but I have a queasiness in my stomach and a chill down my spine that feels like premonition. I’m a worrier, to be sure, but the flightiness I feel is well beyond my baseline sense of despair. I feel like we’ve won too greedily and too deep… we’ve awoken something in the darkness of progressive madness.
I think I may be sick of winning.
Dude, I still have my orphans on overtime tear barrel construction. Stop harshing my buzz!
Trump said you’d get tired of all the winning.
I’m not tired of laughing just yet, but I need more tear storage, I’m overflowing.
I have a queasiness in my stomach and a chill down my spine that feels like premonition.
———–
I think I may be sick of winning.
It’s the richness of the tears. They’re hard on the system in their pure form. Try cutting them with something.
Vodka helps.
Is hate speech speech? Heritage on C-SPAN now
I watch C-SPAN to see what the temperature of the room is: I’m thrilled and stupefied in equal proportion, I’d estimate.
For me, speech is speech, always, even FIRE in a theater. Liability is another matter, whether you were free to say something in the first place.
Speech is a lot of things, but it most assuredly is not violence in of itself.
It’s a liberty when it needs to be a liberty and violence when it needs to be violence. Like obscenity, the progressives know it when they see it and will inform you accordingly.
It’s unbearable: too theoretical even for me. Needs moar everyday examples.
This never gets old: Hitler’s reaction to the 2016 election.

This is a gaffe of epic proportions:
Women Say Heitkamp Campaign Identified Them as Sexual Assault Survivors Without Their Permission
One of Heitkamp’s attack dogs (Mary Erickson Rennich) posted this in a Facebook reply to one of the women:
Wow. Stay classy.
Hole, meet shovel.
Rennich is a real peach.
I’m listening to an interview with her now; she said they got the names from abuse advocates. So, some abuse advocates thought it was more important to be political advocates than advocates for these women. I see lawsuits and possibly even some charges coming from this shitshow.
Side note; the radio show she is on now; he is the guy whose blog I linked to (he broke the story). She has pent the last 6 years ignoring him because he is a critic of hers. He said he has spent her entire term and before, contacting her office asking for an interview and his been ignored. Her brother has a radio talks show and he aired details from this blogger’s divorce proceedings. So there is a ton of animosity between these two. For her to be on his show shows an astounding level of desperation.
she said they got the names from abuse advocates. is not the same as we were asked personally if we wanted to be on the list.
There’s also the problem of some of the women denying being abused at all.
Yes, correct. Some names aren’t even victims. Where the hell did those names come from?
Shit. Show.
“Kady Miller of Bismarck is one of the women named in the ad, but says in a Facebook post that “A lot of these people listed, including me, did not give anyone permission for our names to be posted.”
“I don’t even support Heidi Heitkamp and I am not a domestic abuse survivor,” she continues.
Anyone who ever dated Kady Miller should sue them for defamation.
In her defense, she’s taking full responsibility and condemning it in the strongest terms. But, too little too late.
One side story; she is saying they think at least some of the names were gleaned off of Facebook posts. Russian bots!!!11!!
So far, there appears to be at least 13 women who didn’t give permission.
#YouTooEvenIfYouDidn’tKnowIt
“taking full responsibility” means blaming victims’ advocates.
Very good point. More accurately; she says she’s taking full responsibility.
In her defense, that was in response to a question. In her opening statement she basically said “the buck stops here”.
“You idiots”
no.
She’s down by double digits in the polls. I don’t suppose the Dems ever thought they would retain this particular seat and I expect she has some very remunerative gig lined up already.
