Yeah. The lead singer Donita Sparks was playing a festival in england when the power went out. The crowd got unruly and started throwing clumps of mud & grass at the stage, and she ripped out her tampon and slung it into the crowd.

The most I did with guns this weekend was browse GunBroker. I found some Schmidt-Rubin 96/11 which are antiques under Federal law and a very nice Lee-Enfield Mk I which is also an antique under Federal law.

      I am tempted.

      1. Timeloose

I was able to shoot an AR10 this weekend. Wow do they kick compared to the AR15.

I can see why the .308 is considered too powerful for full auto.

The AR10 I shot was essentially a AR platform with beefed up components.

There’s a company that makes an AR-10 in .300 WinMag.

Barry admitted that he didn’t “plan for the aftermath..” As though anyone could have done that. And of course, we’ve had no experience with what happens when we topple a ME dictator.

      1. Suthenboy

I am convinced he got exactly the result he was looking for.

        1. kbolino

I doubt it. He probably wanted a “democracy” (just like the neocons) but thought it would form on its own, like in Egypt or Algeria, rather than with American military force, like in Afghanistan or Iraq. He was too naive to recognize that Libya was functionally equivalent to Iraq, having been under Gaddafi’s brutal thumb for 40 years. And he was too arrogant to own up to the failure, with the media dutifully covering for him. All the hubris of Bush but none of the follow-through (for good or ill).

          1. Rufus the Monocled

Re Egypt. Didn’t he depose Mubarak and ended up with the Muslim Brotherhood?

          2. kbolino

Mubarak was ousted with much in the way of overt U.S. involvement, unlike Libya where our missiles did the talking. But yes, after Mubarak came Morsi who was the Muslim Brotherhood’s candidate.

          3. kbolino

Mubarak was ousted withOUT much in the way of overt U.S. involvement

          4. kbolino

Probably worth noting that the whole Egyptian “democracy” thing didn’t work out for very long, either. The first guy to take over after Mubarak tried to make himself a dictator, and the military threw him out and replaced him with Sisi who went on to win a very questionable election.

        2. kbolino

Hard maybe, but not impossible. The Japanese loved the Emperor and believed he wanted them to take over the world. We (+ the Soviets, Chinese, and Australians) put a stop to that. But I doubt even ole’ Johnny Boy was really willing to put us on a Vietnam-level of commitment to war, never mind WW2.

        *shrug*

Let’s see what happens to their sales over the next 6 to 12 months.

        1. Tundra

I used to run exclusively in their shoes. Loved them. Then the fuckers started changing the same shoe year to year, so I switched to Brooks.

I like their apparel, but I don’t like this.

          Fuck you Nike.

          1. trshmnstr

I’ve never been unhappy with brooks shoes. Saucony is a close second when it comes to running shoes.

          2. Tres Cool

When I ran (ages ago), I was a big fan of Etonic.

When I was a runner, I was an Asics man

          4. Gustave Lytton

I like their (Nike) minimalist shoes. They pack down nicely for travel, and the regular ones have been decent over the years. I only buy a new pair when the old ones wear out, so Nike wouldn’t even notice if I bought another brand.

I guess I should be surprised that Nike is choosing to weigh in on this, but the company seems to be especially fucked up right now.

          5. No love for New Balance?

          6. Tundra

            Way too wide.

I switched to barefoot shoes years ago and now use mostly Merrell.

          7. trshmnstr

I was happy with new balance when I was at my fattest. Now theyre too spacious for running. Mowing the lawn? Yeah, they’re great.

          8. Yeah, my NB shoes are basic black shoes I can wear to work.

But I’ve also got wide feet.

        2. Mojeaux

Bought XX different pairs of cheap tennies thinking the brand names were no better. I bought her a pair of Nikes and they’ve proven their worth.

Generally, I’m not into boycotts. I usually don’t care that much and if I do, I have to ask myself why.

          1. trshmnstr

Are you buying them for general wear or for sports? Nike makes good shoes for some sports and crappy shoes for others.

          2. Mojeaux

            Her, P.E. class.

Me, I do everything in Birks. If it can’t be done in Birks, I don’t do it.

Me too until I my first pair of Adidas. I don’t run or anything silly like that but even as plain sneakers they last like five times longer than cheap brands.

          4. Mojeaux

Yeah, I had to justify that purchase to myself, but I was tired of rebuying the same cheap shoes and took a chance.

          5. Mojeaux

BTW, Mr. Mojeaux just won a $170 Adidas gift card.

I hope they didn’t pay Koepernick too much money. He ain’t gonna sell alot of shoes going forward. Damn shame about Koepernick. I loved watching him play at U of Nevada. He was interesting in the NFL. He lost focus, he lost speed, he lost strength, and squandered his talent. If he had maintained a high level of football playing and was successful, he would have been able to publicize his agenda to a wide audience. As it is, he’s a footnote. And so is his pet cause.

      1. Playa Manhattan

I blame it on his girlfriend. Seriously. She’s poison.

          Me too.

      2. He lost focus, he lost speed, he lost strength, and squandered his talent.

I think it’s more accurate to say that every defensive coordinator other than Dom Capers figured out how to play the read-option.

        1. Yeah, he was part of that read-option generation of quarterbacks that took the league by storm for a couple seasons. Seems like Wilson and Newton have continued to have success, but Luck is still a question mark and Koepernick and Griffin are second-string at best. And I think in Wilson’s case it’s because he doesn’t abuse the run so much as use it as a safety valve, and in Newton’s case his size helps him a lot. Griffin was/is faster than Newton and has a pretty good arm, but he’s fragile as hell.

      1. C. Anacreon

Has anyone suggested that she is currently unindicted for her acts of prostitution with Willie Brown, and therefore shouldn’t be allowed to serve in the Senate?

        1. Rhywun

I’m sure the MSM will be all over that during her presidential run.

    4. IANAL, but naming someone as an unindicted co-conspirator has legal ramifications. The implication is that the prosecution has enough evidence to bring an indictment but have chosen not to, but since the conspirator’s role in the crime(s) alleged is fundamental to the rest of the case they’re named as if they were guilty of some role in the crime(s). The repulsive part of the practice is it circumvents due process, and apparently DOJ guidelines are to avoid the practice unless absolutely necessary. I’m not a legal authority, so maybe some legal Glibs could speak to this, but it seems to me that being named as an unindicted co-conspirator ought to meet the standards for libel.

      1. There weren’t any classical liberals until the 18th century enlightenment anyway, were there?

        1. kbolino

Well, there was John Locke, who penned his liberal ideas in the late 1680s-early 1690s and died in 1704.

          1. Winston

Thing is Locke was implicated in the Rye House Plot and fled into exile as a result and the Popish Plot was exploited by Locke’s patron Lord Shaftesbury.

      2. Winston

Um aren’t the Glorious Revolution and the Dutch Republic considered major factors in the rise of classical liberalism? And how Locke and Algernon Sidney are very important to classical liberalism and were implicated in the Rye House Plot?

        1. kbolino

Being opposed to absolute monarchy is necessary but not sufficient for liberalism. Locke was a radical in his day, and the Whigs wouldn’t come around to most of his ideas until much later, if at all.

    2. I don’t understand what you’re saying. Are you drawing a comparison between anti-Catholic sentiment in the 16th and 17th centuries and, what, political correctness (or anti-PC)? And what do you mean by “owning the left”? Which classical liberals were involved in the English Civil War, or the Eighty Years War? I’m not sure where you’re going with this.

      1. Winston

I mean they did fight against their enemies and did some pretty underhanded things….

Lot’s of history about different socialists disagreeing with each other.

    1. Juvenile Bluster

Bullshit. Were they socialists, they’d have called themselves something like the “National Socialist Party”.

(fun fact: If you listen to that asshole Richard Spencer and his acolytes, they’re socialists economically. Just for white people, of course.)

      1. I think the argument that the left makes about Nazis not really being socialists is based nominally on Nazi Germany not nationalizing industry and giving lip-service to private property laws and entrepreneurship. I read somewhere that they even “privatized” some public works. But what the leftists gloss over is that it was private ownership in the same sense that there’s widespread capitalism in China. Yes, theoretically, businesses were privately owned, but they were all subject to the oversight and regulation of the government down to who they were permitted to hire, how much they should pay, what they should be produce, and where they should source raw materials. So, sure, most capital was privately owned in name, but the government determined who could own it and how it could be used, which, to my mind at least, means it was effectively government-owned.

I don’t see where he said that. Anyway, here’s the video:

I saw the video earlier today. I didn’t know what to make of that part. The song’s not bad, though.

    2. Chipwooder

Why is a black man using “Gambino” as a stage name? As an Italian-American, I am outraged by this egregious cultural appropriation.
