The final BIF submission is by MikeS, and I said, its a doozy:
First; apologies for my tardiness both in shipping and in getting everything drank drunk drinked quaffed. Life got in the way.
ron73440 sent me some really good beer as well as some nice swag; including a pint coozie that has already seen a fair share of use. I don’t have the palate of a professional reviewer, so bear with me.
Here we go…Glibs beer tasting; “Life on the Farm Edition”:
O’Connor Green Can Golden Ale
Crisp and clean. Refreshing. Mild citrus aftertaste. Good lawn mower beer. If you have a friend who refuses to drink anything other than BMC, and you live by O’Connor, have them try this. 3.7/5
O’Connor Norfolk Canyon Pale Ale
Very similar to Green Can, just more hops. Decent. Passable PA. I’m sure PA fans would like it. 3.1/5
Three Notch’d Hydraulion Red
Nice reddish-gold color. Can’t explain taste very well. A tish sweet…caramel notes? Damn good. 4.1/5
Midnight Brewery Rockville Red Irish Red Ale
Slightly different than the Hydraulion. Not as much sweet (not that the Hydra’ was overly sweet). A little more carbonation. A little less flavor than the Hydra’. Honestly, a little bland. 3.2/5
Belhaven Scottish Ale
Good beer. A little sweet. Smooth. What is that I’m tasting…malt I think? Like the malt in a malted milk. Not a lot, just a touch. And the faintest bit of dryness on the backend. This is going down pretty quick. I like this beer. 4.3/5
Midnight Brewery Not My Job English Brown Ale
Not bad. Almost “light” considering it’s a brown ale. This is one of those beers that would shock your friends who think all dark beers can be cut with a knife. But there is something there I don’t quite like…a dryness at the end. It’s not a deal breaker, just not what I expected. 3.5/5
O’Conner Odis Black as Sin Stout
First off; I tried shining a very bright light through the glass. No go. This is black as an IRA bomb maker’s soul. First taste was like toast dipped in coffee…without the soggy grossness. So far I’m digging it. Not a heavy beer like some stouts can be. It’s an approachable beer for people who like craft beer, but think they don’t like dark beer. 3.6/5

In honor of MikeS, I wanted to make sure the one I featured today, was something he could find in his neck of the woods. After all, most of his comments on my articles contain some variant of the words “I,” “can’t,” “find,” and “that.” In that order. Let’s just say I was feeling a bit ironic while completely ignoring the definition of ironic.
So Pabst went and made a Pale Ale? I must confess, I went into it assuming it was going to smell like urine. I don’t know about anyone else around here, but I for one am familiar with the scent of urine, and this my friends does not smell like urine. This is a bit overhopped in the style preferred by the hipsters this product is aimed at. Now whatever hops they picked for this doesn’t seem to suit the style of beer, but that’s okay. This isn’t going to win any blue ribbons, unless the participant ribbons nowadays are blue.
The question is….Can MikeS find this at his local merchant of mind altering beverages? Pabst American Pale Ale: 2/5.
Can MikeS find this at his local merchant of mind altering beverages?
My prediction: yes.
Not that he’s going to look for it.
Coward.
Excellent reviews!
This is black as an IRA bomb maker’s soul.
Sometimes the IRA gave warnings about their bombings.
“but by and large the IRA made attempts to issue warnings before bomb attacks.”
The old college try. Case closed.
Pabst is impossible to get round these parts.
I am currently drinking something called Williams Bros. Joker IPA. Far from great but decent beer rarely makes its way in most Romanian supermarkets and stores. Despite more than a dozen craft breweries already in the country
pint coozie
Coincidentally, that’s my nickname for SP.
Not half-pint coozie?
She does nothing by half.
I like Pabst, if only for the irony, but Busch is my go to Crappy Beer.
For me it is Ciuc but I have no idea what the standard for crappy beer is in the US. Then again I call it generic beer not necessarily crappy, just the mass market stuff
that’s about right, not Bad, but not Expensive, easy to drink on a Hot day, Bla bla bla,
Cheers!
I don’t drink a lot of beer so when I do buy a six-pack it’s usually something on the splurgier end. I guess back in the day I would say Rolling Rock was my go to generic beer.
Rocks fit perfectly in the category IMO, and tasty too
In my younger days I quaffed Rolling Rock often. I have fond memories of that.
I saw your post about your job when I caught up this morning. Sorry.
Thanks
Same here. Maybe the chance to get out of NYC?
If you’re going to drink crappy beer you shouldn’t make fine distinctions, IMHO. American rice lager is pretty much American rice lager. When I was a kid I drank a lot of “Golden Anniversary.” A six-pack of pints was about two bucks…
+1 Buschhhhhhhh
and that Horrible Riff! now it’s stuck in my Head!
DER DER DUR DUR DUHHHHHH
I recently learned that Hamms is back in production. My favorite in my youth.
You know what would go well with beer?
This steak I’m about to grill: https://smile.amazon.com/photos/share/FUHfU57AfXHcyOehlFAkrQtkvYfnFrZTQ8JGg3oKVtW
Quarter is there for scale.
What time is it? Grilling Time!
that looks Awesome, Enjoy
Yum.
meat is murder
Tasty murder.
I am a serial Cow Killer……
That’s a nice lookin hunka bovine.
Damn, very nice.
There’s the beef!
Also, the Corelleware makes for a very nice presentation.
Trim some of that fat, man. Flare-ups are for amateurs!
Unless of course you are going low and slow followed by a reverse sear.
Unless of course you are going low and slow followed by a reverse sear.
This is the correct way to do it. ??
I agree. Though lately I have been won over to the immersion circulator method. I think the reverse sear, when executed flawlessly, is slightly better. But sous vide is foolproof and very consistent.
I’m salivating! I wish I had a steak to toss on the grill. All I have are some chicken thighs.
Getting em going!
What’s the glaze? Soy?
Stole it from the pioneer woman.
Added red pepper flakes to heat it up a little bit.
2.5 hours later.
Should’ve pulled it at 2 hours instead. Still super tender and delicious, but this was boneless skinless, so the outside started to dry out. The Hickory gave a very mild aftertaste that was a bit discordant. I’d probably skip the Hickory next time. 7.5/10
Still looks good!
Would apple work better next time?
I definitely agree it would be better with apple. Next time I’m at the store, I’ll have to pick some up. I’ve been using Hickory and oak from our log pile of late.
I like apple for pork, for chicken my goto smoke is mesquite. Looks awesome by the way, I have some thighs in the freezer and am kicking myself for not thawing them before I went to work this morning, guess I’ll have to drink dinner tonight.
We had those plates when I was a kid.
Did you wash them after you put a raw steak on them?
How does one get into the BIF? I enjoy trying new craft beers (entered over 200 in my Untapped app over the last 3 years). I live in the Dayton, OH area and we have a collection of breweries from which I could share.
They’ll be another one this spring. Nephilium has been our fearless leader. I’m sure he’ll take note of your interest.
I think we are going to do Autumn, and get in on the Whole Pumpkin spice insanity……………
or not,
Dammit. I was thinking fall but typed spring for some reason. Yes, you are right, Yusef. There will be a fall edition.
And, I’ll just throw this out right now; whoever gets my name, please do not send me anything with pumpkin spice in it. That shit is horrendous.
There are some brewers here that do remarkably good beers with squash or pumpkin in the wort.
I’m not anti-pumpkin, just the curse known as pumpkin-spice. Don’t know why, I just don’t care for it.
My buddy did a Pumpkin Ale once, it was Good, but I don’t go looking for it,
I like the Autumn beers, including the pumpkin beers.
Nephilium is your guy, and He lives kind of near you IIRC
Dont even think about sending “Trotwood Lager”, amigo!
I just had that last weekend at a party in Trotwood – seemed appropriate. It was meh. I think it’s Warped Wing’s generic lager.
Having grown up in that area, when I saw it on sale in Kroger, I immediately had to try it. Glad I only bought a single can.
Is there an opportunity to share your preferences and learn the preferences of your recipient? I know IPAs are the latest trend and have tried a few, but I guess my preference is for an IBU below 60.
Yep. Nephilium always asks if you have a dislike for certain styles and passes that on to the sender.
If this keeps up, the BIF’s are just going to be us Ohio people showing the rest of the country how good our beer is. I’m planning on running another one in the Fall (shipping beer in summer and winter is not the best). For the ones I’ve run, I’ll gather the addresses as well as likes and dislikes and pass them along to the person who will be shipping to you. No one other then me and the person shipping to you will know your dirty secret of preferring lite beers and Chelada. 🙂
And Sharpshooter, I did have a write up for the beers that MikeS sent me as well…
If this keeps up, the BIF’s are just going to be us Ohio people showing the rest of the country how good our beer is.
I see nothing wrong with that as long as when I’m in the BIF, I get something other than Great Lakes Brewing beers. It’s pretty easy for me to get their beer.
Alright, I guess if I draw your name, I won’t toss in a vertical of this Great Lakes beer. 🙂
Speaking of which, I’m about due to inventory my cellar again and rotate some into the drinking fridges.
Hmm… If I can’t find that when I go to PA to visit my family, I’ll make an exception for that.
I did some rotation when I last came back from PA. The Great Lakes I had from a previous trip to PA and the Coopers that had been sitting for a while came to the front.
Yeah, I’m looking forward to seeing Nephilium’s reviews, too. Let’s hope mine were the penultimate reviews.
And Sharpshooter, I did have a write up for the beers that MikeS sent me as well…
Ah. Right, there they are. My bad…
Beer always tastes good. Tonight I knocked down these little buggers. The one on the left won hands down.

An old guy once told me, “If alcohol is your crutch, then Jack Daniels is a wheelchair”.
Don’t know what that makes Sake, then. I mixed a sit load of alcohol tonight and am not really all that drunk. Should’ve had a raging hangover today, but, meh, had worse. That’s scary in it’s own right.
Your liver is operating at peak efficiency!
I still haven’t tried Japanese whisky. Is Suntory a good intro?
That’s the non age statement bottom shelf Suntory. I don’t think they even import it into the US.
Hey, I bought that at 7/11 not the hundred yen store.
Nothing wrong with that. I’ve bought and will buy it myself. It’s relatively cheap, you can’t get it here, and I don’t know what I’m doing.
For MikeS, Japanese whisky, particularly aged ones, has gone through the roof in price and popularity. Much of the short aged stuff, like 12 years, has been discontinued in favor of nonaged versions that are supposed to approximate the same.
Suntory or Nikka are the usual entries into Japanese whisky with perhaps Nikka being a little more recommended. I like Mars Iwai Tradition (not to be confused with Iwai without the Tradition) as a relatively inexpensive one. Usually around $40 or $50 a bottle.
Yeah, there has been some high ball boom going on for the last few years. For some reason the think it it tastes good with karaage.
Hmm… I like fried chicken and I like high balls. I can’t say that they’re wrong together.
I’m no connasewer. Went down a lot smoother than the Jack.
Belhaven’s always good even if it’s a tad light – I think it’s only 3.5-3.8%.
Just confirmed finally, I can’t ship alcohol at all in VA – not USPS, UPS or FEDEX. (I mean, you could probably get away with it domestically, but I can’t mail a bottle through customs to my buddy in NZ). Need to talk to total wine or another distributor to see if they can do it for me.
Very nice lawn tractor MS!
Very nice lawn tractor MikeS!
😉
Thanks! It’s in semi-retirement. No more mowing, just pulls a lawn trailer around and does some occasional snow blowing…and apparently also has a side gig as a beer model. A full restoration/repainting is on the to-do list.
I don’t know why, but I miss mowing. But I’m never mowing 10 acres again, or even 6. I want mowing to be about an hour a week, two at the most.
My entire yard is 10 acres. I’d guess I mow about 3. With my new mower I can mow it in 2-2.5 hours if I don’t let it get too long.
What do you use? Zero-turn commercial?
No, I got a 50″ 24hp Cub Cadet (made by MTD). I love my old 318 JD, but the improvements they’ve made in mower decks are amazing. This thing mows circles around that old JD. I don’t know for certain, but I suspect the main difference is they are spinning the blades at much higher RPM than the old days.
That’s what I was wondering. My neighbor had a zero turn Grasshopper, the thing was amaze balls fast. I was mowing with a JD 455. Not recommended for a large yard, it’s OK for 2-3 acres, but no more than that. Zero turn is the way to go for 4 or more acres.
I think the motors are more torquier (huh, apparently that’s a real word) as well.
If I mowed any more than I do, I’d get a zero turn. A friend has one because he mows like 3 or 4 yards. Like Hyp’ said, they go amaze balls fast.
Yeah, something with the motors as well. They have certainly been making them bigger. For instance, my late ’90’s JD 318 had 48″ deck and power steering with an 18HP. My new cub cadet is 50″ w/o power steering and its a 24hp. It just does not ever bog down.
Just switched from a CC tractor to an Exmark Zero-turn. Takes some adjustment, but really reduced the amount of time to get the mowing done. The Cub is hanging around for now because I have the snow-blower for it; figure as soon as I get rid of that the next winter will be from GoT.
Dude, I don’t even have a lawn. Why would I have a tractor?
^ This guy gets it
Great picture, BTW, Sharpshooter. When the winter brews come out I’ll be waiting for the snow blower version.
It’s actually my John Deere, and that’s a great idea.
Cool. Soft spot for shitkickin’ Merikan brands.
Not to malign the good name of JD, but Ive owned 2 and both always seemed to cut high in the middle.
If you’re talking the lawn mower models like you can get at the big box stores, I wouldn’t be surprised. I had one of those and I wasn’t real impressed. The lawn tractor models are much better built and cut amazing…from what I’ve seen and heard. They also start somewhere around $5K and go quickly up from there.
I can’t say for sure, but I assume the mowers that Home Depot, etc. sell are probably made by MTD. They seem to make every mower out there.
I want this if I ever have serious acreage to mow again.
Grasshopper
I’d get a compact tractor for plowing and tilling, etc, but for mowing, zero turn is da shit.
My JD is going to the shop for a new drive belt on Monday, that’s the second or third one to be replaced. No more JD for me. Nothing runs like a JD with a broken drive belt. Had to repair the starter about 3-4 years ago, impossible to fix at home.
I think they should get out of the residential mowing sector. All they are doing is making subpar (for them) products that are hurting the brand’s excellent reputation for quality.
Not just mowers. My JD snowthrower is 30 years old, still starts and runs, but it is falling apart. Parts are no longer available.
Neighbor bought a new JD from the implement dealer a few years ago. What a piece of shit. When mine finally becomes unrepairable, I’m going with Honda.
I had a Toro lawnmower. I hated that thing. I replaced it with a Honda. I wondered what took me so long to buy that Honda mower.
I’m on my third Honda mower. This one I got new in 2007. The one I got rid of is still running fine!
A fine product.
I have a little Honda tiller, starts easily, runs good. I’m not too fond of having to pull it backwards to do any tilling/weeding but the machine is great.
That’s what grandchildren are for!
Damn, I got a little drunk last night. And now am hungover. Having a few more to try to reduce this headache, ouch!
We got video of you last night.
Damnit, I was afraid of that.
Oh, thank gawd, everyone in that video is Asian and I’m not.
Wrong link. Still, nothing sexier than an Asian chick in a Yukata. Those things are rape ready.
Now ^that came out creepier than I thought when I typed it. Fuggit, Disney can fire me.
Sorry, try this one.
Yummy, delicious bison.
Way OT: Any of y’all have any experience with engineered hardwood floors? Most of my first level is hardwood, except for an area that is on slab. My floor guy said no traditional hw on concrete, but engineered can work.
My questions:
Does it hold up?
Can you really sand and refinish a couple times?
Who makes a good product?
How is installation?
Grazie!
>>My floor guy said no traditional hw on concrete
that’s interesting since I have a concrete floor – and I’m tired of the tan carpeting (no euphemisms!).
Bingo. With a patio door and mud room adjoining the area, I’m fucking sick of the carpet. It always looks bad.
Ceramic is forever. My whole downstairs (basement) is tile, some carpets over the tile. Sweep/mop the tile, vacuum the carpets. Because we are old none of it gets done very often.
Every 87 years, Fourscore?
Yeah, pretty much. I clean up whenever we’re going to have quality guests but since no one wants to visit an old glib with an attitude there are few guests and fewer cleanups. Works out perfectly.
Yep. I agree. But this is the main level. And mama wants wood!
Sounds like you have work to do…
You could do the tile that looks like wood When I redid my shower I wanted to do it in that because I thought it would be neat to have a show that looked like it was wood, but I couldn’t afford it and just got enough to do a shelf.
Our house in Brazil is all tile. My house here is mix of wood, carpet, and tile. My apartment is all carpet. Carpet doesn’t last and are too hard to keep clean, even if you don’t wear shoes in the house or have any kids or pets. When I move out of this apartment and get another house, I really do not want carpet, a few area rugs, but no carpet.
Casa Dean is all Saltillo tile, which works in a Santa Fe style house.
Tile can be tricky for energetic dogs – some high speed wrecks, and a few minor injuries (wrenched back, tweaky knee). We had to put some runners down when our older dog was on her last lap – her back legs were really weak and she struggled on tile.
We have laminate (Pergo) and it’s been a problem for our dogs’ hind legs too. The first day my parents installed the laminate in the kitchen, the dog ran in for dinner, and immediately lost his footing when he hit the Pergo and slid all the way across the kitchen. Poor guy was skittish about entering the kitchen for months, and they had to move the dog’s dish to the other end of the kitchen and put down a throw rug.
Bullseye.
Get ceramic that looks like wood.
I don’t think you’re supposed to get engineered wood wet.
I don’t think you’re supposed to get engineered wood wet.
One of my cousin’s has engineered wood in his house. Any spill must be cleaned up immediately or bad things happen to the floor.
Ditto. We have it in the kitchen. Horrible idea.
Different products. The stuff I’m looking at has a ridiculously tough finish.
I have put in some traditional hardwood flooring, but I’ve never worked with the engineered stuff. That said, if you want to put in some hardwood given your circumstances it might be your only reasonable choice (real hardwood is always an option, but sometimes an expensive one.) Just understand that it can mean a lot of things. One type of engineered flooring might be perfect for you while another would be nothing but trouble. You’ll want to do some research.
Hyperbole would be the guy to ask IIRC. Then again, I never recall anything correctly.
Yes, of course. Thanks for the reminder!
Dunno- I think he might be exaggerating his experience…
Obligatory.
I hope it was obvious that I was just having fun with your handle.
I just don’t want you blowing my cover.
I have it for that very reason.
Can’t refinish it. There are multiple layers on top of the wood for protection and the visible wood layer is pretty thin also. Bulk is essentially particle/composite/whatever stuff. We put it in about 5 years ago in the least used bedroom/exit to back porch. It’s held up as far as I can tell. We had the local home improvement store put it in. I can remember if they glued the pieces to each other or not, but it’s a floating and it does sound like it when walked on. I can’t remember if the installers had to install a leveling coat below or not either.
Wife is happy enough that she is having another room and hallway done this way.
We used Jamaica hickory natural click I think it is.
I had it in my last house. Gustave has it right. Don’t know how long it lasts, but it is supposed to be more durable than wood (probably depends on the wood). Should be easy to install.
Look into the bamboo floors before you buy. They are supposed to be very durable, and ran a close second when we did wood floors, wow, 10 years ago.
My dad did the Pergo (tongue-and-groove) in our house, and it was easy to install, well, except on his knees. But that can’t be helped.
I think the first room he did was around 2000, and it still looks presentable.
Bamboo also cannot be refinished.
A friend’s condo had bamboo floors. Water from a leak in the condo above him ruined part of his floor. The folks that came in to fix the floor couldn’t find bamboo that matched what he had, so his choice was to have a spot that looked out of place or get the whole thing redone. He chose the latter.
My Mom installed an early iteration of Pergo in her high-traffic kitchen when she finally decided to get rid of crappy 30 year old linoleum. This was around 1995. We sold her house last year and the floor still looked great. It was super easy to care for, too, which was important as she aged.
If you just walk on it it’s fine. We put it in my wife’s studio where she rolled around in an office chair between two tables. The chair tore up the joints. We had to put something on top of the floor to protect it.
Easy peasey to put down.
I am late to the conversation, but here goes: I have about 3,000 sq ft of Pergo in my house. I put it down myself when I built my house 13 years ago. It still looks great.
1,000 sq ft is in my basement installed on a concrete floor. First step is to put down a vapor barrier. Second step is a premium underlayment about 1/8 inch thick squishy rubber pad. Finally the Pergo. The underlayment provides some “give” when you walk across the floor. The Pergo in the basement feels the same as the Pergo on the standard floors on the first and second stories.
We have dogs. The Pergo stands up pretty well to their toe nails. No scratching after 13 years. It is slick for the dogs. We put down area rugs at the doors into the house. The learn pretty quickly where they can grip and where the slip when they run.
Yup, I have done several laminate floors and loved the durability. Easy to install, too.
Good luck with your project. Let us know what you choose and how it goes during installation.
Thanks. I just ordered 6 more samples.
I had no idea there were so many choices. Eucalyptus? Really?
The pad that the installers put down was a 3 in 1 or such and had a vapor barrier on the bottom so didn’t need seperate products.
Thanks to everyone who replied. I just went to a local flooring guy and got some samples of both wood and bamboo as well as another superhard stranded product. As with everything, there are different levels of product quality. I am very intrigued with a high end distressed bamboo that he had on the show floor. It is stranded and toward the high end of the cost curve but holy shit does it look nice. It comes in wider, solid planks and is glued down, so no creaks. Apparently it’s 3x harder than oak.
Of course, the project cost is growing before my very eyes, but these products are pretty cool.
Does it hold up?
Depends, are you one of those assholes doing power cleans dropping the weights on the floor and shouting like an asshole? Otherwise, yes.
Can you really sand and refinish a couple times?
If its truly wood, yes. If its a composite with a laminate, no.
Who makes a good product?
I defer…
How is installation?
Its pretty easy. The hard part is measuring.
Depends, are you one of those assholes doing power cleans dropping the weights on the floor and shouting like an asshole?
I just saw this yesterday. The dude was acting as if it were the final lift and a gold medal was on the line. The weight?
115.
Very late to the party, and you’ve already gotten some excellent advice, my two cents.
The Ceramic faux wood planking many people mentioned is great, but not necessarily a DIY project, lots of prep work (fill low spots, knock down high ones (which on concrete isn’t easy) undercut door jambs etc..) Also if your slab is cut into sections you will want to put down an uncoupling membrane ($$$) and unless you’re an old pro (and sometimes even then) the large format tile require a lippage leveling system (more $$$) and even in ideal conditions ceramic is an order or two harder to install than hardwood or engineered laminates.
20 years ago I would steer you away from the engineered products but now they are much better, very durable and easy to install, you still have the prep work but you have a little more wiggle room. I have only installed a few glue-down floors, and never over concrete, it might be hunky dory but I’m thinking a floating system is what you should be looking for, you are going to want a moisture barrier between the wood and the concrete and I don’t know how you achieve that with a glue-down system, unless they consider the adhesive a barrier which means you need to ensure total coverage and again if your slab is cut you always have the concern that the two slabs are going to move independently, not good if the floor is rigidly attached. I don’t know of any engineered products that you can sand and refinish, but the factory applied finish is rock hard and that shouldn’t be an issue. As for good brands, I’ve installed many different brands and I can’t say one is better than the other, many have different tiers of quality and I wouldn’t recommend buying the economy line from any of them. One last warning, I don’t know you’re flooring guy and he may be on the ball, but always read the literature that comes with the product, I’ve had salesmen give me advice that completely contradicted what the product specs say. When in doubt I go with the manufacturer’s recommendations, they are the ones that are going to honor the warranty if something does go wrong.
Something I’ve been wondering as I’ve read your articles is do you ever get a chance to see your work after time and use have occurred? How do you get a feel for durability and longevity if you’re not there after the CO is issued?
My house should be ready in a few weeks. I’m more than a bit paranoid about maintenance. Particularly the pump that is required to attach my house to the sewer. That would seem to be the exact thing that God will use to mess with me. I’m thinking probably in February.
do you ever get a chance to see your work after time and use have occurred?
In many cases yes, often we go back for additions/remodels and I wouldn’t be honest if I didn’t admit that sometimes we have to go back and fix fuck ups (Dad’s most of the time, natch) So I do see how different product/construction techniques hold up, for example very early on I learned that mitering the corners on deck railing caps (generally treated 2×6’s) is a horrible practice, the lumber shrinks and twists in the sun even if sealed and stained, no matter how tight that joint is and how well glues and screwed it is, it will look like shit in a few years. I now do a half-lap joint and the boards still move but the effects aren’t as obvious.
As to your pump, a grinder I presume, the main problem we have had with those over the years is certain soaps and detergents will react with poorly with your water and build up a residue in the pit and the float that activates the pump will get hung up, ask your neighbors if they have any problems with any particular soaps etc. Do you have an alarm set up? get one and a backup battery if your area is prone to power outages.
Awesome. Thanks for all that, Hyp. I really appreciate it!
No problem. If you have any specific questions feel free to throw them at me, I don’t comment every day but do check most thread, not so much the morning links because they post after I leave for work and by the time I get home the noon post or afternoon links are up, and plus Sloopy does shitty links. There I said it.
So if I got in on this and just sent someone a bunch of Red Dog would that make me an ass?
Yes. Yes it would.
Especially since you could send someone a box full of New Glarus instead.
exactly, as long as it wasnt all spotted cow, that would be great.
Right. The only other one I’ve had is the Wisconsin Belgian Red. Wow. Delicious!
We are taking a trip along the south shore of Superior this fall and I can’t wait to get into Wisconsin and try some more New Glarus flavors.
That can’t be your hand holding the beer; it’s not blue or pixelated.
Its my hand….
Doesn’t look very Mexican to me.
It’s a trick. His other hand is stealing something.

Well if you are bored and have 19,000 free hours to spare, listen to theApollo 11 mission mission.
@Richard your spam assassin keeps blocking my email to you. The upshot was, yes, that looks interesting! Please unblock glibsp-at-pm-dot-me if possible. Thanks!
Tonight is Packer’s family night, basically a practice held at Lambeau where people attend and they air it on TV, probably be the only time I don’t have to work for any kind of Packers thing, so I’m gonna try and enjoy it like a game and get my drink on. Hopefully they do a scrimmage this year, they don’t always do one but that’s more entertaining than just watching them practice.
Do you usually do work for them?
Yeah, I watch over the automation at a radio station on game days.
Are you in GB? For some reason I thought you were near Milwaukee.
I’m between GB and Wausau.
God’s country. Have a great time at Lambeau! SP is gonna be jealous.
I’m not gonna be there, my sister and her family are though. I’m just going to watch on TV. I had a chance to go to this Thursdays game, but like I said I work the games.
The science is always settled
https://hotair.com/archives/2018/08/04/irony-alert-epa-finds-ethanol-environmentally-damaging/
“According to David DeGennaro with the National Wildlife Federation, the report documents millions of acres of wildlife habitat lost to ethanol crop production, increased nutrient pollution in waterways and air emissions and side effects worse than the gasoline the ethanol is replacing.”
So, stop growing crops and pass WOTUS?
Nutrient pollution? That sounds terrible!
STEVE SMITH DEAL IN PROTEIN POLLUTION
I just got 2 Plinys, plus a sixer of Big Swell.
I’m going to finish digesting my kimchee tacos, go work out, and then…… go to the pool, where the beer flows like wine.
Think I fixed my mic now – stupid Win 10 updates modified my privacy settings. Next flick is a real horse opera (hopefully ready in about 3 weeks).
I think this song belongs here, a little bit of commercial at the beginning but otherwise very good.
Once on the internet I saw a picture of a gril’s that show her bobs and vegana.
It was awesome.
dude did u record it or wut
It’s my understanding that Straffin said he was drunk a couple nights ago?
So was Timeloose.
Hmmmm…
That’s right! I forgot he likely had a co-conspirator.
“Dude, hold my octopus” sounds kinda….I dunno, weird. But exactly what I’d expect from 2 Glibs.
(russian) Automotive Engineers in action !
Disabled girl doesn’t like the plastic straw ban.
Would.
Risotto tonight, done right. Vialone nano, porcini, real Reggiano. I’ll see if we have a Barbera on the rack, otherwise, we’ll find something else red and drinkable.
Oh, and bruschetta with SP’s home-made bread and some tomatoes I picked about an hour ago.
This is really the only good thing I have to say about summer- we get some nice produce.
@Rhywun, I saw about your job. I’m super sorry.
@Tundra, I’ll break from the pack and rec wood-look vinyl tile for a slab. You will have to prep the floor a little, but it’s super easy, cheap, and looks good. I had to do some emergency flooring last year and it turned out well. I put peel’n’stick in my kids’ room (one on a slab). I put vinyl needing glue in my dining room. Again, it was emergency flooring so eventually I’ll be springing for hardwood, but I didn’t have time or money to do it right the first time. Also, it wears like a tank.
Presentation went well. Ran out of time before I ran out of material.
Better than the other way around!
Knew it would work out well for you.
Glad to hear the presentation went well. I read about it after the fact, so commenting was pointless. I used to have to give new-hire employee training every other week, and it required me to talk for nearly 3 hours. I loved it.
