“Order in…Morning Links.”
I’ll get yer links in while the place is still kind of empty. Once the morning rush hits, you’d be lucky to get as much as half a quote of a day old headline, without waiting for 30 minutes at least. So, lets start.
Sports – Baseball… there was some macho strutting and posturing, with remarkably little actual damage for so much “fighting”. Soccer stuff in Europe made people say “@#$%”. Basketball is now set for its playoffs. THERE WAS NO HOCKEY, I DON’T CARE WHAT YOU HEARD. HOCKEY STARTS AGAIN THIS FALL.
Birthdays – Henry Clay (1777), Beverly Cleary (1916…still alive!), Tiny Tim (1932 – not alive), Herbie Hancock (1940), Ed O’Neill (1946), Tom Clancy (1947), David Letterman (1947), Scott Turow (1949), Shannen Doherty (1971), Brooklyn Decker (1987)…
Links;
- Um, … OK. Didn’t know the Canadian Air Force could, you know, reach Syria. I understand they have something sort of over there…But, way to boldly stand up against Trumputin and the rush to war… I guess.
- I know all of you will be rocked to the core when you read this. I mean, the sacred guardians of the public…are corrupt shitbirds?! Wow, who woulda thunk it?!
- Huh. I don’t think STEVE SMITH is going to be impressed. You know how he hates amateurs…and politicians. I wonder if Western feminists will decry what appears to be a real “rape culture”? Oh, who am I kidding.
- I guess we can start getting an idea of what side the cops are on in the UK. Hint, it ain’t the victim’s side.
Hope those links are savory and satisfying.
Since I mentioned Herbie Hancock…have a predictable music link.
“I guess we can start getting an idea of what side the cops are on in the UK. Hint, it ain’t the victim’s side.”
Is that just in the UK? Anyway, what’s with the idiotic claim that NASA is finally sending sperm into space? Did the male astronauts that go up all get drained dry before they got to take their ride into space?
STEVE SMITH MIGHT HAVE HIT SPACE ONCE OR TWICE, IF YOU KNOW WHAT STEVE MEANS…
“One of Scotland Yard’s top officers today defended the shrine to a burglar killed by a pensioner because ‘laying flowers is not a crime’ – but warned vigilantes intent on destroying it they could be arrested.
Met Deputy Commissioner Sir Craig Mackey has been criticised for calling the death of career criminal Henry Vincent a ‘tragedy’ for his family and telling those tearing the flowers down to ‘act respectfully’.
In a warning to those who want to destroy the flowers, balloons and cards Sir Craig said: ‘If you do things where you cause a breach of the peace, disorder in that area, then like anyone, you could end up getting arrested’.”
How about a statue of a dog with its paw raised?
Hate thought!!!!
I am frightened that societies have reached a point where the legal system will not just look for a way to punish the law abiding citizen for doing everyone a favor and killing that criminal during the commission of a crime, but people no longer feel shame that someone related to them was a criminal and actually are willing to glorify that criminal. How fucking stupid woke do you have to be to think being a career criminal is just another noble job?
I hope Mr Lizard tells his people that the time to cull the herd has come, and they fucking eat us all. We deserve it with assholes like that.
Meh, Brits taste like disappointment
I was wondering how this lowlife had over 100 flowers in his honor. He was from a clan of Travelers?
If you look at some of the photos of the condolence cards, many of them are written in the same hand – aside from the vanishing few remaining romani – the pikeys are way up there near the top of the illiteracy ladder.
In hindsight, doesn’t surprise me that they were pikeys, given the footage of that lowlife casing a residence where he was caught on the homeowner’s CCTV.
In Henry’s family’s defense though, it should be noted that stealing from outsiders is a longstanding and culturally acceptable behavior in many Traveler communities.
As if we needed more proof that not all cultures are equal.
He was into 1980s space-adventure roleplaying games?
They still publish it, with the most recent edition dating from 2016.
You might dig this, UnCivil.
Goddamn Vargr, stealin’ our wimmin!
Beat me to it Slammer. That’s such a good album.
Gyppos.
actually are willing to glorify that criminal. How fucking stupid woke do you have to be to think being a career criminal is just another noble job?
*glances at hip hop culture and Republicrat party, walks away*
Technically true, littering is merely a violation.
And under a strict reading of the law, people “destroying shrines” are merely picking up litter. When you leave your property unattended in public you take your chances.
I think they should change the name from “Great Britain” to “Meh Britain.”
Scotland went full retard years ago.
https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/drag-queens-banned-from-performing-at-free-pride-glasgow-event-over-fears-acts-will-offend-trans-10405214.html
You mean “catered to.”
This might be the best example of “eating their own” that I’ve seen yet.
In a warning to those who want to destroy the flowers, balloons and cards Sir Craig said: ‘If you do things where you cause a breach of the peace, disorder in that area, then like anyone, you could end up getting arrested’.”
Maybe someone was concerned that the thorns on the roses were a safety hazard, and wanted to dispose of them to get more potentially deadly weapons off the streets.
I heard the term anarcho tyranny about UK
APPROVED
*stamps comment*
Alex, I commend you on getting your own link in the first comment while making it seem like you cared about the provided links. And you get a 1st gif to boot! Impressive.
That story about people honoring a career criminal killed in the act of committing a crime and the legal system in the UK actually at first trying to throw the guy that defended his house into the klink, pissed me off to no end. Any society that pretends it is woke because it values life so much that it prefers a system where law abiding citizens should subject themselves to the whim of a criminal element – be it the professional crooks that make up the government, or the amateurs that commit the lesser crimes – and do so even if it causes them all manner of harm, including the loss of their own lives, in my estimation is one not worth having or saving. Contrary to the idiocy peddled these days by the intelligentsia, you are not a more advanced society when you devalue the lives of the law abiding members.
That having been said, talking about sperm in space just had to happen in a first link…
Ditto. For all of it. Sperm included.
That’s the point, I think. They don’t value life at all. They think your should give away your life to every piece of shit that comes up and tries to take it from you.
Yep. I can sympathize with the family of the dead burglar without condoning what he was doing when he died or in any way blaming the target for defending himself. The guy who was being burglarized by two armed men was entirely justified in using lethal force to protect himself, his wife, and his property. Also, the dead burglar was someone’s family, who was loved by them, and probably a wonderful person to people he wasn’t strong-arm robbing, and I can respect that regardless of how he died they’d miss him.
It is the lack of shame …
They describing the guy that preyed on oldsters, or a guy who worked hard and gave all his worldly goods to the poor?
As I noted, traveler culture fundamentally sees gorgers as fair game. Scamming them is morally acceptable, and preying on the most vulnerable is preferable.
Violence and the dangers of injury and/or arrest are simply operational risks, and the Vincent family clan have the criminal records to prove it.
They’re just liars. I have no respect for them. If they were honest enough to at least go to “he was flawed, but he was our ” I might have some sympathy. But pretending the criminal corpse was saintly just makes me regard the speaker with contempt.
^^^^THIS^^^^
No sympathy from me once you decide your job is to take from others by force..
It’s also not “just” a memorial – it’s a threat against the homeowner. They’ve already been talking about getting revenge.
As slumbrew says, it’s the pikey equivalent of a Scots laird or olden times burning a cross – it’s a call to revenge.
The ‘Honor Culture’ is pretty much the only law the travelers obey, and by definition, if you’re not part of a clan, you’re a gorger, and gorgers are ‘the other’. Unless the cops hop on this quickly (they won’t) it’s got the potential to turn nasty unless the victim and his wife are relocated and/or protected.
That’s shitty. That family has no way to defend themselves from a gang. If the Travelers are patient, they are going to get that guy and the cops probably aren’t going to do shit. This is why self-defense is so critical to being both free and safe.
Yeah, that’s a huge part of it. It’s fine to love someone who does bad things and mourn their passing, but, sorry kids, your dad was an armed burglar who preyed on the weak. He fucked around and picked the wrong house, and he got his. It’s not the old man’s fault your dad, who I’m sure was wonderful to you, was also a rat bastard to others.
Suckups!
I figure that since I manage to piss of Swiss once a month or so that I should be nice to him once a month or so.
I’ll take what I can get.
^^^^Swiss motto?
(Not just our own Servator)
Surprisingly similar to Henry Vincent’s motto.
Especially (((gold)))?
(((art))) too!
I’ve noticed a behavioral trend in certain types of bad operations managers. For those who avoid conflict, they tend to befriend their problem employees. Internally, these managers shield themselves from disciplining the problem children because, well, they wouldn’t do that to a friend. And another benefit, the good employees are less apt to report the bad ones because those are the boss’s favorites. I wonder if there’s some element of this psychology – conflict avoidance – in the woke movement.
There are no bad actors in the woke community to be disciplined. To think such a thing is deeply regressive and you need to admit your heresy, shitlord.
Exactly.
Is that just in the UK?
Well here in the US, the cops are only on their own side.
Did the male astronauts that go up all get drained dry before they got to take their ride into space?
To be an astronaut, you must be a master of your domain.
Sports: Twins take series from Astros!!!!!
They could be operating out of Airstrip One.
Midair refuelling? But that’s a long haul and I’d imagine that you’d want your aircrews fresh for a bombing mission.
Given how much Trudy underfunds the Canadian military (they literally had to ask for charity to feed their soldiers), they don’t have fuel for the flight.
Operation Enduring Freedom opened with the longest bombing missions ever flown.
The Air Force awarded 246 Bronze Stars for the Yugoslavian campaign (Kosovo), with 131 going to people within the combat zone and 115 going to those outside.
Guys who hung bombs in Missouri, and pilots who flew at 30K.
The Navy gave it to officers who got as close as Naples.
The Army did not give any, mostly because wrecking helicopters is frowned upon.
The bronze star is supposed to be
If you’re not actually in danger of being fired upon, can you honestly be called “in a combat zone”?
They handled this by putting a combat/non-combat designation on the Bronze Star because of medal inflation.
Simply revoke all non-combat bronze stars and put them up for consideration for an award suitable to the actual work done. Maybe a letter of ‘attaboy’ rather than devaluing a combat medal.
I think only the clause “or meritorious service in a combat zone” requires combat at all. I think that’s why they have a “V” for valor add-on to indicate whether it’s a combat award.
I remember my brother telling me about when he was in Afghanistan as part of a training battalion, he would frequently go outside the wire to embed with the locals on missions, but it was the battalion commander who got the bronze star, even though he never left the base. My brother was a little bitter.
That reading sounds wrong. it reads to me like the ‘in a combat zone’ is applicable to all actions in the list rather than being part of the last item.
If I were a bomb hanger in Missouri and they gave a bronze start for it, I’d sell it on eBay. Hell, I’m guessing that most of the air crews don’t even deserve one.
You know who else began their bombing mission before the war started?
The Imperial Japanese Navy?
I’m working on finalizing my reservations for my road trip. Right now I have an unscheduled gap of Thursday and Friday in East Texas that I need to decide on a stopover for. Thursday morning I’ll be leaving Arkansas. Friday evening I need to end up in the Dallas area. It’s an estimated three hour distance, so I’m looking for places of interest within no more than one overnight deviation from that route. Since we have people more familiar with the area, I figured I’d ask for suggestions.
Mind the gap
I’m trying to, that’s why I’m asking for recommendations.
Getting into Q’s lane:
Mind the Gap
I was gonna recommend Bryce’s Cafeteria in Texarkana, but looks like it closed last year (not necessarily because it was great but because it had been around a long time and that’s what you do if in Texarkana). If you are off the interstate between Texarkana and Shreveport, avoid getting gas. We broke down about 100 yds from the LA / AR border after getting a gas tank full of water on a Saturday December 26th… Stuck in Texarkana for 4 or 5 days getting fixed with a dog with separation anxiety. Spent the week holed up in a hotel drunk, eating Outback take out and watching bowl games. Upon reflection, that isn’t much different than what I would have been doing if we made our destination.
Apparently, there is a Smokey and the Bandit museum in Texarkana, but we didn’t make it because of the pup.
Ouch wrt water in the gas tank.
I guess we can start getting an idea of what side the cops are on in the UK. Hint, it ain’t the victim’s side
Piss on the shrine and the cops who try to syop me.
Public Urination is not only a crime, but it’ll land you on the sex offender registry.
Pissing on cops gets you an assault of an officer charge, because they’ll be pissed off.
…because they’ll be pissed
offon.“Don’t piss off the cops, don’t piss on the cops, what the hell, man?”
I thought the UK installed outdoor urinals…
I don’t think people are buying the narrative on the Syria “gas attack”.
US Backed Syrian Rebels Caught Staging Corpses of Dead Children in Douma to Play on Western Emotions
https://www.zerohedge.com/news/2018-04-11/there-wasnt-single-corpse-russia-claims-white-helmets-staged-syria-chemical-attack
Ya the hardest part was making sure our agents didn’t eat the carcasses instead. They were hissing something about not wasting good veal, nearly blew their cover
The chlorine adds a piquant aftertaste?
Actually yes, quite fortunate in this instance
You don’t get it. Assad knew that it would be counter productive given he was already about to knock the rebels out. Ya see, this way he can gas children and not be blamed despite being blamed. Or something like that. Bomb Damascus!
Assad has a master plan for starting WWIII so Syria can emerge as a superpower.
Since he couldn’t defeat glorified raiders now what’s he going to do when the radroaches and super mutants show up?
Um, … OK. Didn’t know the Canadian Air Force could, you know, reach Syria. I understand they have something sort of over there…But, way to boldly stand up against Trumputin and the rush to war… I guess. – but they will stop poutine shipments
That would give me pause. Stopping the Tim Horton’s….would freeze me right in my tracks.
I believe that is a war crime.
Also want to point out that as someone that has avoided social media like the plague because of the knowledge of how your personal information would be used & abuses, I was glad to see Facebook’s perps being raked over the coals. The one problem I did see was that our political oligarchy – populated by a huge number of imbeciles that lack even the basic knowledge of technology – now demand to regulate it. what could go wrong?
Seriously, people have the option to avoid shitholes like Facebook, or even delete it when they are done with it, but the damage done by our preening political oligarchy in their pursuit to get social justice will be unavoidable. There was a time I thought the resilience of the general population would save us from these morons. I now dread the world my kid will be living in as I see these douchebags basically making it hell on earth for the rest of us.
Yes I envision team stoooopid will vote for some proggie scheme that will ultimately ensentially the current social media regime as actual monopolies. Then the law will quickly be used to crush all major team red websites, and eventually this one.
*enshrine blasted stooopid phone
I wonder what differs between the few of us that realize the people screaming the hardest about things and demanding the right to fix whatever they have deigned to categorize as the biggest problem facing humanity, after actually passing laws that caused precisely the behaviors that lead to that supposed problem, and those always enthusiastic about letting them do it to us again. Seriously, how often do we have to do the work of tracing the cause of some perceived problem that’s some politician’s crusade to behavior some previous legislation caused before more people wise up?
The problem is that passing a law is a pretty permanent solution to a temporary problem that can be self-remedied by the impacted individuals. Those permanent solutions are also going to have second and third order effects that are almost certainly going to be harmful to society in general.
That is why I think all laws should have an expiration date, and unless there is another vote to keep it when that date is hit, the law goes the way of the Dodo bird.
Can you hear my eyes rolling? Can you hear them?
If Facebook breaks your political culture it was a rickety pile of shit not long for this world to begin with.
Can you hear my eyes rolling? Can you hear them?
Not over my own.
I don’t understand why this is an issue for either team…if our “democracy” (don’t get me started) is SO FRAGILE that is can’t handle a little free speech from ANY source then we have bigger problems.
The data was freely and knowingly given, to both Obama and Trump actors.
The data was used to target advertise.
…
soooo, what is the issue?
Swiss: I shower upon you praise and adoration for your consistent use of alt-text. Much happy. So chuckle.
I learned from all of you, at HyR, how this was absolutely necessary.
The lack of it here seems to result in much less shaming than it did at Reason.
speaking of that other site. i checked it out. Lynx are gone and replaced with some weirdness PLUS they were calling Rand Paul NOT a civil libertarian…wth has happened over there?
Tiny Tim (1932 – not alive)
Why did Tom Clancy not merit that sobriquet?
Because he’s still putting out books from beyond the grave.
Zombie Clancy?
Or Henry Clay?
HENRY CLAY IS DEAD????
Thank god we still have Abe Vigoda and Lou Reed.
Oh oh…
Who is gonna break the news to our buddy?
His zombie books keep appearing.
Beverly Cleary (1916…still alive!
A cup of black coffee and the mouse on the motorcycle in the morning can do wonders
NPR is hitting on all cylinders lately.
Yesterday, it was letting Robert Kuttner’s claim that unfettered capitalism directly led to the rise of Hitler go unchallenged.
Today, it’s some EU commissioner spouting about “regulation ensures the principles of democracy are allowed to foster competition” or some word salad like that.
unfettered capitalism gets around a lot
That’s why we need EU weenies to fetter it.
And nobody should feel taken by the fact that they will be living high on the hog and getting some serious moolah while they look out for us plebes, right/
We must destroy the free market to save it!!!
Also that Hitler claim makes sense. That’s why he rose to power in that capitalist powerhouse, the United States.
The fetishization of democracy is rampant these days. There’s nothing it can’t cure apparently.
Fetishization by people who took to the streets in November 2016 to save democracy, because their preferred candidate lost an… election.
“regulation ensures the principles of democracy are allowed to foster competition”
Ayn Rand really nailed her villains, didn’t she?
UK’s United Nations ambassador on Russia: “Marx would be turning in his grave”
https://www.commonspace.scot/articles/12638/uk-s-united-nations-ambassador-russia-marx-would-be-turning-his-grave
lol
Quite frankly, Good. That lowlide mooch needs to be consigned to the dustbin of history along with his toxic ideology.
No human can claim to have caused as much misery, death, and evil as that cunt Marx, but for some reason all the people that think they are the smarter ones, especially in our political and academic circles, continue to pay homage to him and his vile ideas.
LA Is Painting Streets White To Combat Global Warming Or Something
$40k a mile for shitlords who care about such things.
Firefox is particularly shitty this morning.
Doesn’t paint contain a lot of volatile organic compounds?
Well sure, but paint chips in the ocean are nothing compared to warm air in a subtropical desert.
Would anyone be surprised that if we followed that money, we would find that the people getting paid to offer this service are somehow related or connected to the political machine peddling the AGW cult’s fables? Seriously, I have yet to see a AGW solution that didn’t involve the shysters robbing the productive and after keeping a good chunk of the cash, funneling the rest to some other connected people that are part of the scam.
Won’t paint also make it much more difficult to stop your car? Especially in the limited rain SoCal gets.
I’m thinking white streets will also produce an annoying, distracting glare.
“In respect of Karl Marx, I think he must be turning in his grave to see what the country that was founded on many of his precepts is doing.”
Because Russia didn’t exist before Marx?
Politician==lowest intelligence. They would otherwise be incapable of keeping a job.
Even worse. She’s a career diplomat. Graduated from Girton in the early 80’s – so basically a British version of Wellesley.
Where is that grave? The coffee’s kicking in and I feel a big one coming on.
Apparently the UK’s ambassador to the UN is a moron.
You’d expect a person with a brain to take that job?
It’s one of those posts where the party’s excess baggage gets fobbed off to so they don’t get in the way back home.
You do realize this is the country that arrests people for defending themselves from armed robbers, warns people that butterknives are still knives and shall be treated as deadly, and festoons their streets with knife collection points featuring the face of cookie monster…
I think this guy is par for the course.
C’mon! Give it up for the T-woofs! In the playoffs despite their best efforts.
Derrick Rose will put them over the top.
*struggles to keep from bursting into laughter*
meh I was rooting for the nuggets.
don’t know why though…
It is just fun to say “Nuggets”!
anyway Rockets in 6
Tibs can keep his streak of being just good enough to get eliminated in the first round and be rewarded with the 15th pick that won’t amount to anything.
I’m sure the Wolves offense looks like street basketball where nobody knows where their teammates are on the floor.
It has been so long since the Timberwolves made the playoffs that the U of M actually held Paul Bunyan’s Axe at the time.
On the other hand, that Taj Gibson fellow looks like a solid player. Any chance the Bulls would make a run at him when he becomes a free agent in a year?
“‘Cool pavement’ to cut urban street heat gets first California tryout in Canoga Park
CANOGA PARK >> The new street seal gushed from a downpipe Saturday onto Jordan Avenue, then spread like paint to turn a half block of black into a sea of gray.
For the first time in the Golden State, it is testing a reflective street surface officials say could cut public road temperatures, cool the insides of nearby buildings, lessen air pollution and reduce the threat of deaths linked to increasingly hotter heat waves.
Before afternoon temperatures could push 100, city street workers spread a thin gray coating of CoolSeal into the heart of one of its hottest neighborhoods.
“The city’s going to get hotter because of climate change, particularly this neighborhood of the west San Fernando Valley,” said Greg Spotts, assistant director of the Bureau of Street Services, who doubles as its acting chief sustainability officer. “The phenomenon called the heat island effect means the city is hotter than the surrounding countryside.
Now, after rigorous testing for durability and wet skid potential, the CoolSeal coating was being slathered across a half block of Jordan Avenue just north of Hart Street near the headwaters of the Los Angeles River.
he experiment will soon be duplicated in 14 other council districts before the end of June. If successful, city officials hope to encourage manufacturers to help develop cool pavement that could be incorporated into a multimillion-dollar drive to fix a backlog of L.A.’s failing streets.
“I’m thrilled to be here. This is a great day for all of us. We look forward to seeing what the results will be,” said Kevin James, president of the Los Angeles Board of Public Works.
A CoolSeal coating could cost an estimated $40,000 per mile and last seven years, city officials said. But that’s subject to change pending pavement innovation.”
https://www.dailynews.com/2017/05/20/cool-pavement-to-cut-urban-street-heat-gets-first-california-tryout-in-canoga-park/
That’s not the gushing and slathering I associate with Canoga Park.
The goal is to render all drivers permanantly blind so that people Finally stop driving in LA.
Well, Canoga Park is known for helping men make themselves go blind.
That’s right. Tinker with Gaia’s albedo whydontcha.
In spite of the fact that there’s been no warming for 20 years and all the global warming models have failed spectacularly.
It’s an article of faith.
And they have the balls to call the right anti-science.
Golf clap.
Asphalt doesn’t last 7 years, so that number is bullshit.
Haven’t you ever seen floating textures? it’ll remain there after the underlying roadway is gone.
These people are determined to bankrupt California, aren’t they?
In these dark days man tends to look for little shafts of light that spill from Heaven. My days are probably darker than yours, and I need, my God I do, all the light I can get. But I am a decent fellow, and I do not want to be mean and selfish about what little brightness is shed upon me from time to time. So I propose to share with you a tiny flash that has illuminated my sombre life and tell you that God has given me a new Chinese colleague whose email signature tells me that he is called Royal Wang.
We all feel like that, Swiss, now and then, especially when Spring is upon us, but few of us would care to put it on our cards. It takes a Chink to do that.
*Wipes solitary tear; nods sagely*
Does he manage to comport himself in the regal manner such a name demands?
I have not been granted the opportunity to observe him at the urinal.
You mean you haven’t been granted an audience. Maybe he has special events where that happens.
NPR has a newish reporter named Kat Chao. You’re welcome.
Chao chao chao!
I actually work with a fellow called Dong Wang….
I worked with a guy named Dick Johnson
I used to tell people my name was Richard Hurtz…
Then tell them my friends called me “Big Dick”…
Big Dick Hurtz…
I know a guy in South Dakota running for congress named Dusty Johnson.
Not a Joke
On his site, he says he’s for cutting regulation. I met him at a conference about 9 months ago – his presentation was about convincing rural telecom CEOs that more regulation is good for their industry. He started by asking everyone that “thought regulation was a bad thing to raise their hands.” When about 60% did, he set about trying to convince them otherwise for the next 90 minutes.
There used to be a local man named Harry Peters. His son was gay, and did drag shows under the name Sophonda (So fond o’) Peters. True story.

My Calc I prof was named Kunt. He got so tired of correcting everyone’s pronunciation, he finally gave up and legally changed it to “Koont.”
Shit, I would have proudly flaunted that name…
So you would have exposed yourself as a massive Kunt?
Guilty as charged…

There is a Super Troopers 2?

No, lefty feminists have no self-awareness.
“Astonishing California bill would shut down free speech, require fact-checkers
SB1424 is brief. Read it:
This bill would require any person who operates a social media, as defined, Internet Web site with a physical presence in California to develop a strategic plan to verify news stories shared on its Web site. The bill would require the plan to include, among other things, a plan to mitigate the spread of false information through news stories, the utilization of fact-checkers to verify news stories, providing outreach to social media users, and placing a warning on a news story containing false information.”

Cool. AWS has resources located in Oregon.
AWS?
Amazon Web Services
They want to drive the tech companies out of California, apparently.
Does “Fuck off, slaver” count as a plan?
Over on HyR someone asked where everyone has gone. I didn’t recognize the moniker but we are all Tulpa. Is there a policy on mentioning Glibs?
Well sparky will get pissed
Why?
When the split first happened, he would groups
Gripe anytime someone mentioned the glibs.
We’re not the boss of you!
I was asking out of courtesy. *haughty sniff*
As if libertarians indulge in that?!
I’m a libertarian female. That alone should qualify me as a unicorn.
Or simply suspect to non-existent.
Meh, I’m in a house full of them.
Pics or didn’t happen.
And you know I’m real! Bonus!
Do you want to get us all pinched, Potato?
I couldn’t always use a good pinching.
No policy. We have encouraged people to think of the two sites as their own things — for good and for bad, and don’t encourage comparing or disparaging one on the other. We won’t ban you for mentioning us there.
Note to SP: Ban Brett.
I’m free! Finally free of the shackles of links duty!
Haven’t you shed those shackles many times already?
They’re like snakeskin, shed one and find another underneath.
Just for that, we’ll have him do tomorrow morning!

Going in a book.
I dunno if the term is used over here, otherwise I’d invoke Mrs Grundy, who originally fulfilled the same kind of role in restoration comedy as “The Lieutenant” in the latter chapters of Starship Troopers – an omnipresent, incorporeal spirit of oppressive propriety.
Poor Solomon, no wonder he’s so angry all the time.

Well, I don’t want to brag…
Don’t say Glibs three times!

Mostly orphans, and those OMWC tricks.
HEY! Don’t smear us with things we didn’t do!
We pretty much view everyone as simpletons, so it was technically true.
But Servile and Dum-playing? That, sir, we did not depict.
It might be classier to mention that there is an alternative and ask them to contact you privately for more info. That’s what I did in the early days of Glibs.
“Hey you, yeah, you! I got what you need, just message me privately. I promise, this is some premium shit right here. You’re gonna want to see this shit.”
That’s how I’d go about it, anyway.

If the Russians manage to hit and/or sink a ship or two he very well may be impeached. If he pulls the trigger on this idiocy I’ll be fine with it.
It would be fantastic impeachment, the best ever. If for no other reason, it would neuter the neocons and other assorted warhawks for a very long time.
Yeah, yeah it would.
You want to go tell some kids “hey, it isn’t necessarily terrible your Dad got killed!”
I will never get into the “to make an omelette you have to break some eggs” mindset.
I understand why you don’t like that and you have every right. I’d just prefer we packed up and left Syria like everyone else here.
Sure, but a ship getting hit and servicemen getting killed isn’t going to have that result.
Really? What do you think the response will be? Do you think the Russian Navy can actually withstand a full-on retaliation by the US Navy? What happens then?
The Russian navy is a joke, there’s no way they’d stand up to the USN.
My point. If the Russians managed to hit one of our ships, what do you think happens next, after the Russian Navy ceases to exist in retaliation?
The only part that would exist, for a time, would be their submarines (at least till they broke down), and I wouldn’t overlook the possibility they become commerce raiders for a foreign power, like Iran.
Their Air Force and antiship missles would be a much bigger threat and would remain so long after their navy was on the bottom. What’s likely to happen next is a long and bloody war for all sides involved.
Or, a short, fiery war.
Anything that’ll get us closer to Starship Troopers ought to be a net good.
Oh, I think we know…
An impeachment I could get behind.

“Disturbing messages found in diapers from Target
Target customers in several states are discovering white supremacist propaganda — with the phrase “It’s okay to be white” — tucked inside their boxes of diapers, according to the Anti-Defamation League.
The laminated, index-size cards containing the racist message have turned up in Pampers and Up & Up brand diapers in Washington, DC, Florida and Tennessee.
On the other side, the card lists websites of white supremacist groups, including The Right Stuff, the Daily Stormer and the Traditionalist Worker Party.”
https://nypost.com/2018/04/10/white-supremacist-propaganda-found-in-diapers-from-target/
Anyone want to bet this isn’t a hoax?
I still think it’s funny that “it’s ok to be white” is considered racist. The media walked right into that, when all they had to do was ignore it.
Exactly. Are they saying that it’s not okay to be white, and that white people should be judged as deficient or wrong based only on the color of their skin? That sounds pretty fucking racist to me.
I saw wonderfully contorted whine on Derpbook which grudgingly admitted that it was okay to actually be white, but how you should neve, ever say that because… something.
The takeaway? If you are buying Pampers, stop it. Up & Up are the same thing.
Pampers are indeed a ripoff. Some of the generics were not great, though – I know we bought Up and Up a few times but can’t remember if they were any good. Luvs was the way to go – just as good as Pampers and much less expensive.
I’ll take that bet. How about two bucks at thousand to one odds?
It’s likely a hoax, and the only thing racist is the content of those sites, not the phrase itself.
Also, how long till Target figures out which employee does it, then burns the witch?

Better than “Royal Wang”, eight days a week.
I got me a Jury Duty Summons. Lovely.
Odds are you won’t be seated, but expect a lot of advice about avoiding your ability to actually engage in nullification by getting rejected in pre-emptory challenges.
I actually got seated a couple of years ago on a gun case (illegal possession, brandishing, etc.) and they asked me what I thought about gun laws and the second amendment. The prosecution tossed me on their first peremptory challenge.
“I think that any law regulating ownership of weapons is a violation of constitutional right. You do not have the authority to enforce them.”
Pretty much, yeah, I told them that the second amendment means exactly what it says, including the “shall not be infringed” part, and that gun laws were also foolish and counterproductive.
The former are at best based on a misunderstanding of the latter, typically due to ignorance, but sometimes due to malice.
I have decided that if I’m ever in that position to play dumb during juror questioning and then suddenly discover the original meaning of 2A if I’m seated. Nullification only works if you can actually get on the jury.
The worst that is likely to happen is that you get dismissed. They already have a problem getting people to show up for jury duty, and charging jurors with contempt, etc, will only make that worse.
“and they asked me what I thought about gun laws and the second amendment.”
They exist. I don’t have an opinion about facts.
For the love of God – Lie. Answer like you think both parties would like you to otherwise we’ll never nullify this shit.
On my very first call to jury duty I was selected and sat there for 3 days of jury selection and opening arguments. Then they settled the case before we started with the evidence. That was 1983.
Since then I’ve been called more than a dozen times, and every single time I either get the last minute “your group doesn’t need to show up” or I sit there reading a book all day as they fail to call me.
So no unjust charges nullified. No child molesters locked away. Nothing of use…. but they always thank me for performing my duty.
On the upside, I think I read all of Tom Clancy’s works while sitting in a jury room.
Just show up and speak honestly about your libertarianism. It got me DQ’d like a soft-serve sundae.
I’m not a libertarian. I’m actually very strongly social conservative, I just don’t talk about those views here.
I’m also very strongly fiscal conservative, because I hate people taking my money. Worse, they turn around and spend it on things to my detriment.
Well, show up and lie about your libertarianism.
tbh, having articulate opinions about anything whatsoever will probably get you disqualified.
For the first day.
I have a baseball hat in neon yellow with the logo 😉
Do what I do. When they ask your name, respond, “Why does that matter, the nigger’s guilty.”
That may be what the other defendant did in the first place.
Nah, you’ve got to be more subtle. That will get you thrown in a holding cell for a few hours for contempt of court.
Shit, I wouldn’t even get that far, they’d put me away for not answering most of the questions on the preliminary questionnaire. My answer to everything would be, “Fuck off, slaver!”
Wear your Gadsden Flag T-shirt and you won’t even have to answer the questions…..
Funny you should mention that contempt of court thing, because I actually once got a contempt of court that came with a $100 fine for telling them during the Voire Dire that both lawyers and the judge looked guilty to me….
The other time I also got a $100 contempt of court fine was when I told the asshole cop that had tried to give me a ticket and had lied that he had clocked me speeding while he was giving my neighbor – whom i brought with me to court – to kiss my ass after the judge dismissed the case.
I can hardly wait to find out what the cop was giving your neighbor.
A speeding ticket.. He had pulled my neighbor over and was ticketing him when he saw me driving by and waved me over only to then tell me he was citing me for speeding..
The Larry David method, yeah. “I don’t know that I can be impartial, since the defendant is a Negro”
I actually want to be on a jury, but I’ve never been picked. Not enough crime in NoDak, I guess.
Having served as a jury foreman, I can attest that it is an educational experience in terms of human behavior. Not all positive though.
Ditto. I’m sure I’ll never get sat. But the world would be a better place if I was on a jury than some random name from the phone book, and it wouldn’t be a financial hardship for me.
I sat on a court marital board jury for the ring leader of the Pendleton 8. Interesting experience. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hamdania_incident
I’ve mentioned it elsewhere, but have one of those pocket copies of the Constitution visible in a shirt pocket when juror selection takes place. It’s like a magic totem, and works far better than a lightning-repelling rock.
“I would love to be picked for this jury. I believe that nullification of technically legal bullshit crimes.”
In all seriousness, I just toss them and pretend that I never saw them. So far, I have had zero problems.
I was called earlier this year. It was a drugs and gun without a permit case.I can’t remember what the question was, but I responded with “I don’t think we should be looking kids in cages for a crime that doesn’t even have a victim” the persecutor didn’t seem to like me much. Also, they asked me what I would call a house that had cocaine and a bunch of people in it. They were fishing for crack house. I responded , “I’d call it a good time” I wasn’t picked to be on the jury
*prosecutor not persecutor (although both work)

Look, there are categories of weapons that are okay, and those that are not okay. After the first world war, we decided that gas was not okay, but the bombs and bullets are still okay. okay? got it?

We decided gas bombs were not ok (because they are unweildly) but nukes are still legit.

Viewing masculinity as if it were a public health crisis, “Unlearning Toxic Masculinity” offers a three-pronged approach for helping male students recover: a weekly discussion group to unlearn “toxic masculine norms,” a biannual magazine, and a video series.
The crux of the programming revolves around Masculinity 101 Peer Education, a peer-to-peer weekly discussion group that convenes male students to talk about issues such as “Cultivating Empathy” and “Harm and Healing.”

A fired aviation security officer who dragged a passenger off a plane last year at O’Hare Airport has sued the City of Chicago and United Airlines claiming he wasn’t properly trained to handle the incident.
On April 9, 2017, James Long and several other Chicago Department of Aviation police officers boarded United Airlines Flight 3411 and dragged Dr. David Dao down the aisle after he refused to give up his seat to a United crew member who was traveling to Louisville.
———
The lawsuit claims the CDA and Aviation Commissioner Ginger Evans acted negligently by not properly training Long “how to respond to an escalating situation” with a passenger.
Evans sent a series of defamatory tweets in the days following the incident, the suit alleges. She wrongly tweeted on April 11 that Long was no longer a law enforcement officer and claimed in another tweet that the officers’ actions “were completely inappropriate.” Three days later, she tweeted that the agency didn’t arm its security staff “for good reason.”
You couldn’t possibly expect any other outcome. The poor man was vilified. He lost his job, and nobody will hire him. He has been wronged, poot feller.

Lots of things are pink in the new music video for Janelle Monáe’s “PYNK.” A convertible. A strawberry milkshake. Lipstick. Bubblegum. A very suggestive grapefruit. But the pinkest thing in the musician’s latest queer masterpiece has to be a pair of poofy full-length pants fashioned to look like a vagina, complete with vulva ruffles. Forget pussyhats. This is way better.
Monáe wears her pussypants for a set piece in the desert, joined by backup dancers in similar attire as she croons the song’s suggestive lyrics: “Pink like the inside of your, baby/ Pink behind all of the doors, crazy/ Pink like the tongue that goes down, maybe/ Pink like the paradise found.” At one point, Monáe’s rumored paramour Tessa Thompson even pokes her head through Monáe’s pussified legs, which is not terribly subtle but does get the message across. ”

“Judge says police stalling in release of Las Vegas shooting records
A judge accused the Metropolitan Police Department of gamesmanship Tuesday before denying another agency request to delay the release of 911 calls and body camera footage from the Route 91 Harvest festival massacre.
“I’m very frustrated, because I think that gamesmanship is going on here,” District Judge Stefany Miley said in the contentious hearing. “It’s now months since the shooting occurred, and it’s still the same: delay, delay, delay. If one technique doesn’t work, then you switch to another one. That’s very concerning for the court.”
In March, District Judge Richard Scotti ruled that Metro was obligated to immediately begin handing over recordings from the Oct. 1 shooting to the Las Vegas Review-Journal and other media organizations suing for their release.”

I avoid NPR like lesbians avoid dick, but I thought this thing points out that the left’s agenda to deny law abiding citizens their 2A rights, and the left’s desperate need to invent a criminal scandal to be able to keep pretending they are smart, was worth mentioning.
And seriously, has anyone else noted that the SJW crowd and leftist in general, are so desperate to maintain their illusion/delusion of being the more intelligent ones, that they have to fabricate bullshit and constantly lie, cheat, steal, and be evil, in order to avoid reality forcing them to reassess the fact they are morons?
From the comments:
“‘Linked to Russia’ is the new ‘racist’.”
They also pathologically label their preferred policies as “smart”. Smart power, smart growth, etc etc. If you have to tell people how smart you are, you aren’t actually that smart.
It explains a lot to me that someone like Trump winning has basically made them go insane. Squaring the fact that they got it all wrong about the career crime syndicate boss Clinton winning easily because America loved itself more corrupt big government socialism with this reality seems to have pushed them into territory that would qualify them for a long stint at the loonie bin. And all because admitting they have things wrong and are not as smart as they think would devastated their fragile egos. Must suck to be a proggie.
NPR is a joke at this point.
Their newest reporters seem to all be millenial women with bad cases of vocal fry and uptalk. I don’t know how anyone can take them seriously.
Sharing is good, children.
Shared rides are central to Uber’s vision for its future, in part because Pool in theory should improve margins on rides by putting more people into each car. But despite its roots in the so-called sharing economy, Uber has had to “discount very aggressively” to get people to try shared rides, Khosrowshahi said. In San Francisco, where nearly half of Uber rides taken during rush hour are now shared, the company at one point was spending $1 million a week on discounts, BuzzFeed reported last year.
“The combination of the societal norms and then the question of, ‘when exactly am I going to get there?’ are real friction points that we have had to fight, and that’s why we are investing very heavily in this mode of transport,” Khosrowshahi said. Shared rides are generally slower than private ones, because the routes are less direct and involve more stops.
The whole point of a service like Uber is to avoid having to share space with a bunch of random smelly strangers. At least, that’s what I would say.
Y’know, I’d like to do business with a company that offered me the option. Personally, I probably wouldn’t ride-share as a preference, but I can appreciate that for some, the option of a ride-share makes the difference between going where they want, and not going where they want because they can’t afford it.
I know, right? This veneer of shitty selfishness I exude is kinda rubbing off!
I know a couple that Ubers everywhere, and they’re shameless about making the poor sap wait up to five minutes while she finishes her makeup and he finds his wallet. If sharing ride-sharing means I get to wait in some asshole’s driveway for several minutes before they mosey out to the car, count me out.
“Passenger was a no-show”
STEVE SMITH ALWAYS WILLING TO SHARE
I guess you mean; more than one smelly stranger.
Before it was called ride sharing, I shared a taxi in Tijuana from the bus station to the border with a bunch of strangers. That’s just how taxis were in order to make it cheaper for everyone. Once I got safely to my destination, I was glad to have done it, because I like getting off the beaten path, but for a while I wasn’t sure if I would be the beaten path.

“Just two days after Palestinians burned thousands of tires on the Israeli border with Gaza in violent protests, a spokesman for the Palestinian Transport Ministry complained of a shortage of tires, demanding that Israel supply more.
As part of the Hamas-led ‘March of Return’ protest, Gazans answered calls on social media to burn 10,000 tires on Friday in an attempt to obscure the vision of IDF troops preventing infiltrators from crossing the security fence separating Israel from Gaza.
On Sunday, Muhammad Hamdan, a spokesman for the PA Transportation Ministry criticized Israel in an interview with The Jerusalem Post for not providing Gaza with a scarce commodity: tires.
“We have been informed by the Israeli side that imports of tires have been halted until further notice,” Hamdan told The Jerusalem Post. “There is no doubt stopping tire imports will have a negative effect on Palestinians in Gaza especially considering there is a shortage of them there. We are going to exert all efforts so that Israel reverses its decision.””

The proper response is to point and laugh at the Gazan leadership.
The UN wil chastize Israel.
Sounds to me as though tires need to be classified as ‘dual usage’ exports and subject to Israel’s equivalent of ITAR.

On March 29, the state of Oklahoma passed a bill to give teachers a $6,100 pay raise and some increase in state funding for schools. The Oklahoma Education Association (OEA), a union with approximately half of the state’s teachers as members, demanded that the state find more money to increase funding to the schools after years of cuts due to decreases in state revenue. Teachers walked out, and the students in Oklahoma have been out of school since April 2.…
The attacks on concerned parents as to how this action affects their children is disturbing. One is instantly branded anti-teacher, anti-education, and against the children if you don’t support these specific tax increases. I have raised concerns about how this affects graduating seniors, special education students, and low-income families who now have to pay for child care while their children are out of school. I was instantly chastised for my concerns and told that this is a sacrifice some kids will have to make and that it is “for the greater good” and how exciting it is that students are going to be “a part of history.” Whenever I hear anyone say anything is for the greater good, I cringe.
It’s a wonder why have have zero sympathy for the “plight” of the public school teacher.
Why *I* have…
I wouldn’t mind a $6000 pay raise. I haven’t seen a raise in 4 years.
5 years for me.
Response:
“I’m your boss. I pay your salary. I want to know what kind of service I’m getting for that payment; right now it is piss poor. I will remember this on election day and vote accordingly.”
That’s what unions – especially the public ones – now seem to be for: preventing you from pointing out that the people you pay money to are not delivering that money’s worth..
I have often asked proggies if they truly believed primary education was so important to the well being of their social justice mind frame, why they accepted such subpar performance from these educators. I have never gotten a decent answer, mostly I get told things are fine (when they clearly are not) or the problem is simply money, and often I just get silence. That is, until I point out that the reason – as I clearly see it – likely is that they see primary education’s role as more of an indoctrination mechanism so these young people subjected to the abuses are molded into proggie douchebags, and thus, judge primary education as quite the success story considering the mind-numbed SJW idiots it spits out.
Please, tell me about the teacher’s plight. A cousin who is a month older than me retired last year at 48, after teaching for whatever 24-25 years. Absent winning the lottery or a mass shooting, I’ll still be working the next 17-20. Good on her, no ill will there, she stuck to plan and played by the rules, but I’m not crying in my beer for her.
Pensions and retirement after 20-25 years for public employees is absolutely absurd. Family friend started as a fireman at age 18, worked his 25, got out at 43 and gets something like 85-90% for the rest of his life. Decent chance he’ll be retired at almost full pay for more than half his life.
Even I need thirty years and have to be at least fifty-five to collect 60%. (Cannot collect a dime before turning 55, less than thirty years is a sharp drop-off in %FAS)

“Rand Paul, Civil Liberties Champion (lol), is upset that government employees don’t lose their security clearances if they don’t like Trump. Here’s Cato Institute policy analyst Julian Sanchez with thoughts on that:
Julian Sanchez
@normative
Uh… good? You can’t style yourself a champion of the First Amendment & then demand federal employees be stripped of clearance unless they’re personally pro-Trump. https://twitter.com/randpaul/status/984136953502330881 …”
Notice the “lol” from progressive shitbag, ENB
BULLY!
Security clearances have never been contingent upon political beliefs. The notion is frankly ridiculous, and a little surprising coming from Rand Paul.
The only way he’s going to convince the knuckledragger-n-chief that survelance is bad is to make it about him. So I’m fine with it.
They are contingent on appropriate behavior.
I have one – I know what they’re contingent upon. And being a “Trump hater” (which is what Rand Paul said) is not one of them.
What Idle hands points out below is a good way to lose clearance. Being so biased for Hillary and so careless that even Mueller throws you off an investigation is another good standard.
Again, not what Rand Paul said.
Your criticism is fair, Kristen. All I’m saying is that these are federal employees that were reassigned due to a forthcoming inspector general’s report. Is it not fair to question these employees? Maybe he should wait for the inspector general’s report, but to suggest (as ENB did with her bullshit aside) that Paul’s civil libertarian credibility is suspect is BEYOND bullshit.
You mean like Hillary herself being on the verge of being booted off the Nixon Impeachment team for being:
Like that?
The only thing Rand is wrong on is not including his entire argument for losing their security clearances. He has previously brought up their extra-marital affair, which is typically an instant disqualifier in the FBI for clearances. Additionally, the explicitly suspect texts about backup plans in the case of Trump winning and coordination with a sitting judge would at least merit a temporary suspension until it is resolved in their favor.
Yes, that’s fair. But, these are federal employees that were reassigned due to a forthcoming inspector general’s report. Is it not fair to question these employees? Maybe he should wait for the inspector general’s report, but to suggest (as ENB did with her bullshit aside) that Paul’s civil libertarian credibility is suspect is BEYOND bullshit.
Why do I feel like I’ve read this before?
Maybe it’s the fact that they were using COMPANY FUCKING PHONES and THEIR OFFICIAL EMAILS to conduct an affair and shit on their future boss. No where else would this fly.
WaPo beatifies Vermont governor
The passage of the gun-control laws in Vermont marks a significant change in course in a state where bipartisan resistance to gun-control measures thwarted even the most modest gun-restriction proposals for years. Vermont still does not require law-abiding gun owners to have a permit to carry guns in public. During his 2016 campaign for governor, Scott said, “I don’t believe we need more gun restrictions in Vermont at this time.” He also said he did not support background checks on private gun sales.
His about-face on gun rights all happened rather quickly, in the days after the Feb. 14 Parkland school shooting that left 17 dead.
Two days after the Parkland shooting, police in Fair Haven, Vt., arrested Jack H. Sawyer for his alleged plot to shoot up Fair Haven Union High School. That morning, Scott said, is when “everything changed” for him.
Basically, the story is or should be about how the system worked exactly as it’s supposed to. Kid makes violent threats, acts like a psycho, presents a sufficiently credible threat that cops investigate and arrest him. And they all lived happily ever after, right?
Not exactly. The governor is so unnerved by this he plucks a bunch of new laws off the Bloomberg anti-gun consortium’s wish list, and rams them through the state house (as for the legality/legitimacy of the mechanics, they don’t seem to concern themselves with that). Hooray, we’re all safe, now. Because making it harder for a million law abiding citizens to keep and bear arms is worth it, if it *might* rein in the violent fantasies of one kid.
Vermont keeps finding new ways for me to never want to live or visit there ever again.
he’s fucked, right?
They’re even going after Ron Jeremy!

Credible.
Was it written by the same turd that wrote about mattress girl?
You’re thinking busted glass table girl. Mattress girl lied about being scorned by an ex.
Scorned by an ex- who refused anal, IIRC. The worst kind of scorning.
“Grab its motherfucking dignity.”
“Ron Jeremy banned from Saturday’s AVN Adult Entertainment Expo and Awards? That’s cool — the porn star wasn’t going anyway, he told TheWrap through a spokesperson.
“I was not planning on attending the AVN’s this year anyway as I’m filming 2 movies and performing stand up comedy all week,” Jeremy said. “All serious allegations are false. The truth with [sic] come out soon.”
The adult-film actor’s admission of being a “groper” in a November statement to Rolling Stone was a violation of the AVN’s code of conduct, hence the ban. Jeremy had previously denied the more serious accusations levied against him, which include rape.”
AVN has a code of conduct? Then I’m coming out with a cologne for pigs. What do you think of the name, “Porque”?
“What do you think of the name, “Porque”?
Spanish for why? Or French for bacon?
I was thinking “reason”, but could be pronounced “pork”, but those work too.
“I recognize how hard it is for some to understand my change of heart on our gun laws, let alone come to the same conclusions I’ve reached,” he told the divided crowd in closing. “I understand I may lose support over the decision to sign these bills today. Those are consequences I’m prepared to live with.”
Christ, what an asshole.
Those farts aren’t gonna sniff themselves.
AKA: Bloomberg and his gang of gun-control MILFs would pump a gazillion dollars into a primary challenge against me if I don’t do what he says.

“Rand Paul, Civil Liberties Champion (lol), is upset that government employees don’t lose their security clearances if they don’t like Trump. Here’s Cato Institute policy analyst Julian Sanchez with thoughts on that:
This is the problem with wandering into the middle of a conversation. Is Rand saying, all federal employees, everywhere? I doubt it.
Or- Is this a reference to specific people whose known political enthusiasms (and flagrant TDS) tainted a specific and ongoing federal investigation?
It’s kind of important to distinguish between the two.
He was referring specifically to the FBI agents who were reassigned due to a forthcoming inspector general’s report. The people whose texts were released- who were having an affair
These are federal employees that were reassigned due to a forthcoming inspector general’s report. Is it not fair to question these employees? Maybe he should wait for the inspector general’s report, but to suggest (as ENB did with her bullshit aside) that Paul’s civil libertarian credibility is suspect is BEYOND bullshit.
Yeah, I don’t read this:
As saying that anyone who is anti-Trump should have their clearances pulled, since the tweet includes his letter asking about Strzok and Page and the FBI’s reply.
Since those two broke multiple federal laws/regs, they shouldn’t even still be employed, much less have security clearances.
It’s kind of important to distinguish between the two.
Its a tweet. Plus, as we all know, Meaning comes from context, and in the context of the attached letters its clear he’s talking about Strzok and Page, not ever Trump-hater in the federal government.
It’s kind of important to distinguish between the two.

Don’t read the comments.
Wow. Are the editors at the NYT so dense as to not see how these tactics could easily be used against them? Do they just assume that they’ll always have the goodwill of the TOP. MEN. in power? Having a triple digit IQ must be a disqualifying factor for getting a job as a journolist nowadays.
Civil libertarians being blinded by TDS and allowing blatant civil liberty violations is far far far more dangerous a threat than anything Trump has done
Hah – can’t wait to see the same people who get the vapors about Hogan/Gawker see absolutely nothing wrong with this.
So now the exercise of editorial discretion is an in-kind contribution?
And the NYT’s collective brain is so rotted with TDS it doesn’t see anything wrong with this? Of course, I don’t recall them making a fuss when Obama was prosecuting reporters for being insufficiently pro-Obama, so it may not be TDS, it may just be rank stupidity, ever the handmaiden of partisanship.
I find it darkly amusing that if these pathetic shills ever got the communist government they wanted, they’d be among the first in the ovens.
his BJ Campbell’s six-part (and growing) series on firearms from Medium been posted around here yet? it’s fascinating and completely devoid of culture war antics. stat heavy. i don’t like one of his three proposed solutions but it’s not completely awful. here’s the sixth installment:

Step Three: Promote Responsible Ownership Through a Simple, Easy, License to Buy
Fuck you, BJ. Any licensing requirement is a ban wrapped in a bureaucracy. A license always and everywhere means “You cannot do X (the ban) unless we (the bureaucracy) give you permission (the license)”.
Yeah, NICS is a de facto licensing requirement, of sorts. But the purblind naivete of thinking his sole requirement for getting a license (passing a simple course) wouldn’t morph rather quickly into something expensive, time-consuming, and intrusive almost makes me think this series is a false flag for suckering gun owners into coughing up their last few crumbs of Second Amendment rights.
right. i doubt BJ fully appreciates the POTG’s hatred for the notion of a licensing scheme. it would take a whole lot more than just dismantling NICS, freeing up SBRs and suppressors in that compromise. it would take a full dismantling of DHS DOJ ATF and FBI along with freebie grenade launchers.
