I knew that’s what it was going to be!

Well, actually I was expecting this:

      http://www.albinoblacksheep.com/flash/papasmurf

      NSFW?

      1. Heroic Mulatto

        Old school.

        1. Sir Digby Chicken Caesar

The Cosby is the crowning touch, IMO.

  3. Thankfully I don’t have videos set to autoplay.

    1. straffinrun

It wouldn’t play for me. Can’t decide if I should be thankful or not.

      1. It’s an HM link. You even clicked on it?

        1. straffinrun

I’m off this morning. Click, click, click. Send them my way.

      2. westernsloper

No video unfortunately, but the audio is a must listen.

  4. Rhywun

I hated the Smurfs. Did anyone actually watch that?

    1. Rufus the Monocled

Not me. I liked Jokey though.

    2. They did when it was renamed Avatar.

      1. Just Say’n

        Brilliant point

      2. Rhywun

        *spit* Not me.

      3. Rufus the Monocled

Man did I hate – HATE – that movie. I rooting for the capitalists by the end.

Fuck off. Put up some condos.

    3. Florida Man

I liked Gummy Bears and Tailspin.

      1. Just Say’n

        Yes. And Dark Wing Duck

        1. Rhywun

Jesus. I was in college when that came out, youngins.

          1. Just Say’n

You didn’t watch cartoons in college?

          2. Just Say’n

It sincs up with like music and shit or something. Play Frank Zappa’s The Muffin Man to Sponge Bob Square Pants

          3. Rhywun

Simpsons. Some MTV stuff. Otherwise if it started in the early 90s I probably never heard of it.

          4. juris imprudent

We were much too pretentious when we dropped acid to watch cartoons.

“Oh I was so much older than, I’m younger than that now”

          5. Rhywun

Acid was usually accompanied by music, except for one memorable nighttime visit to the abandoned apparently not-so abandoned anymore Psych Center.

          6. Tres Cool

The only time I dropped acid, I saw a 8′ bullfrog in the creek across from my house.
            Never again.
Fun fact- I was age 15

“Kill me and you can hang; euthanasia-seeking woman tells husband in Mumbai ”

“After 21 years, work finally begins on second airport in Mumbai”

Those are some bold headlines on that site.

      1. Indian English is an interesting beast:

        Ex-DGP Joseph Thomas no more

        (It’s just an obituary.)

        1. Crap; it looks like I SFed the link:

          Ex-DGP Joseph Thomas no more

      2. Rhywun

“After 21 years, work finally begins on second airport in Mumbai”

They must be following the NYC model of development. I expect a quarter of the runway to be completed within 30 or 40 years.

      3. Just Say’n

I actually would like to see what happens in the euthanasia headline one. It’s a cliffhanger

        1. Tacit Rainbow

          The lede:

MUMBAI: An elderly couple who had sought the president’s permission to be allowed to end their lives has decided they are going to die in a “dignified way” — with the husband first strangling the wife, and then asking that he be hanged for the crime.

          The whole story

          1. Just Say’n

            Classy. Thanks

          2. Bobarian LMD

Well, he is planning on strangling her with his cock, so sure.

  7. Just Say’n

This post reminds me of the time on a camping trip where, after multiple beers, we decided to play “Pop that P*say” by 2 Live Crew on repeat at the juke box after we met a group of twenty year-olds and their families celebrating a girl’s 21st birthday in the only town’s bar in the middle of rural Illinois. When we left, the song was still playing and there were $30 worth of repeats to go.

It was not one of my finer moments, but it strikes as something everyone can appreciate

    1. Heroic Mulatto

      Not all heroes wear capes.

      1. Just Say’n

So true. Thank you for your efforts

    2. westernsloper

You camp outside of bars? I like how you roll JS’n.

      1. Just Say’n

There has to be a bar at least within a reasonable drive. That’s just good camping etiquette

        1. straffinrun

The town’s only bar or the only town’s bar? One of those is depressing and the other is Mad Max.

          1. Just Say’n

It was the only bar within about four towns or so. Maybe 20 miles from the next closest

          2. straffinrun

2 Live Crew had some mean cross over appeal.

          3. Just Say’n

Not so much with the girl’s father

    3. Yusef drives a Kia

      Sick Dog!

    4. Waterfall Insurance

My brother loves 2 live crew. He would blast me so horny from his car and drive by slow whenever he saw old people or young women. This was only like a year and a half ago.

  8. DOOMco

    I haven’t heard that in a decade.

    1. westernsloper

I had never heard it. I was busting my best middle age white dude moves.

Trump caving in on guns. I knew it. That said he appears to be doing the most limited thing he can do at the moment. The NRA supports the bump stock ban and so does public opinion. And doing so by executive order avoids any controversial votes.

    https://hotair.com/archives/2018/02/20/trump-im-ordering-jeff-sessions-ban-bump-stocks/

Of course the progs will still hate him. And he risks losing his supporters. Stupid.

    https://www.thedailybeast.com/don-jr-advises-president-trump-post-parkland-dont-go-wobbly-on-guns?source=articles_sum&via=rss

Also once again this shows the folly of libertarian optimism. Gun control was looking to be dead but now it isn’t thanks to some shootings.

    1. Yusef drives a Kia

Erma Gersh! Ban Belt loops1 for the Chidrens! Urma GERSHH!!!!

    2. Just Say’n

This was always the problem with Trump- he has no firm beliefs and he’s so easily swayed because he’s ignorant of policy.

      1. Yusef drives a Kia

What Policy is that? “Normal” Policy? or Trump Policy, I’ll take His right about now

        1. Just Say’n

No policy should be the policy, because there are no gun control measures being proposed that would have prevented this. But, I see your point that his policies are most likely better than other alternatives

          1. Yusef drives a Kia

“because he’s ignorant of policy.” Not to be a Dick, but, What policy are You talking about? You brought it up…..

    3. straffinrun

I figured Trump would legalize bazookas first, wait for the mayhem and then offer up common sense bazooka control. Art of the Deal.

I know this French but from an online translator it appears that Bastiat is complaining about being called a socialist and pointing out how he opposed the socialists.

For a guy who sat on the left he sure didn’t get along with some of his fellow leftists. Sheldon Richman has a sad.

Of course Bastiat was a republican and a Freemason which in 1840s France put one on the left.

According to French Wikipedia Bastiat was a supporter of General Cavaignac. His party was called the Moderate Republicans and wiki says this party was center-left. Yes Bastiat was a moderate leftist in mid-19th century France.

I’m kind of ticked about my Customer Today, She flat out said she didn’t trust me, and I was only there because She couldn’t get anyone before Friday
H is for Handyman today, I found a New Flame Sensor that was never Screwed Down, so it was never properly grounded.
She Told me she didn’t trust me, I told her what the problem was, fixed it and proved it to Her, I told her to have her Handyman look into it, Dumb Homeowner
Bottom Line, don’t trust your Expensive things to a “handyman” They are Almost good enough, but not for things that can Kill you if not maintained properly, watch your Asses Glibs!

The Customers are Happy, they don’t mind spending money on results, and I hate Dicking around with machines, just fix it!

    3. straffinrun

Some people *ahem, usually women* that use that “I don’t trust you” line to manipulate you into giving them something special. Same tactic that asshole customers use on the server at a restaurant. Bad people.

      1. Rhywun

I honestly can’t imagine using that line. That is something that isn’t in me at all. I find it extraordinarily rude.

        1. Yusef drives a Kia

I often want to charge more due to their rudeness, sometimes I do, I’m Clean cut, older, Well mannered, Erudite, yet able to simplify my speech, and charge a fair price. And I ALWAYS fix the problem, so honestly, Fuck them, I don’t need the Business
          /Libertarian Mentality

        2. straffinrun

Me either. Some people are raised in families where that type of behavior is standard within the family. Making the world a little bit worse with every interaction with the public.

          1. Rhywun

Oh don’t I know it. Every shit job I had before my current employer involved interacting with the public.

    4. HA! I’m dealing with a woman who wants her kitchen done “Now!” “ITS BEEN NINE WEEKS!!!11!!” Of course the fact that the cabinets that she picked out from the supplier that she insisted on using and which were ordered four week ago aren’t on the site yet makes no nevermind to her. It’s all my fault for not being on the job everyday even though there is nothing I could do. I believe this is why the Canadiamericans invented the word Uffda.

      1. Yusef drives a Kia

I’m Cali and know the the Uffda! always have. i love light Commercial over Residential, fewer idiots to deal with at any one time, Good Luck with Psycho Bitch,
        /Been there too many times

      2. DenverJ

So, here’s what to do: call her every morning, at an obnoxiously early hour, and ask her if the cabinets have arrived yet. When she says no, ask her if she’s sure she ordered them. Do this every day until the cabinets get there.

    5. Scruffy Nerfherder

Unfortunately, that just comes with dealing with homeowners. Which is one of the reasons why I don’t.

  14. Yusef sounds like he needs a little jazz.

    1. Yusef drives a Kia

Very Nice! i prefer Piano/Guitar over Horns, but this rock!

      1. Then this one (or this one) might still not be to your taste…but trust me…the live show is amazing. Might need to rip some vids from my concert DVDs….they don’t seem to be anywhere on youtube.

Speaking of which…M-Flo just released a compilation album on itunes (“Universe”) – 150 tracks for something like $35. Need to double check, but I’m pretty sure I already own all of them – but that’s an amazing price compared to what I paid for the import CDs (even with the included DVDs of music videos, etc in the Korean editions).

        1. Yusef drives a Kia

          2. On the other end of the scale is something like this. ;p Course…I first picked up the single after hearing it on an anime music video. Been burning through the Queen Platinum collection a few times lately too…that and Gin Wigmore. #eclectic

      1. If you’ve got crunchy roll or another service (may be on netflix now) – check out “Kids on the Slope” – great early 60s show with high school kids jamming in the basement of a music store. Esp. since all the original voice actors are actually singing/playing their own instruments. Soundtrack is also on itunes. https://youtu.be/xOf3MVMPGOc

mainstays of the 1980s West Palm Beach Bass music scene, Danny D and DJ Wiz were two young men aspiring in the Rap game in 1987 who failed to find notoriety until they joined forces in 1988. Prior to Boys, Wiz worked with Jock D and Chocolate Star Records, and Danny D worked with Dynamix II before releasing a single on Beware Records with the help of Kooley C.

Danny was a student at the Ft. Lauderdale School of the Arts where he took a recording class, recording with engineer/keyboard player Steve Tempo. There, Steve and the duo recorded “Boom I Got Your Girlfriend” in 1989, which caught the attention of Beware Records distributor, Dave Williams. Dave owned the West Coast label “Heatwave”, and all three men signed deals with the label. In turn, Heatwave licensed the song to Atlantic Records, creating a national club hit.

I have a small collection of Miami Bass records, but i admit, these guys are not in it.

  19. OK kids. As I am wont to do after one of these shootings, I’m going to buy a gun just as a middle finger to the grabbers.

I know I said I was planning on getting an S&W Model 500 4″. However, I’m reconsidering getting a 460V 5″ instead since it can chamber .45 LC and .454 Casull as well. They’re about the same price.

    Thoughts?

    1. Gilmore

      get a bazooka

    2. Tacit Rainbow

I could argue either way, but “both” is a cop out. Get the .50 cal.

    3. Lachowsky

The S&W 500 is cool as all hell, but you won’t shoot it much. It’s too much, really.

      1. That’s kind of my feeling. The 460 offers almost as much power as the 500, but I can shoot the lighter rounds if I want to, it’s like getting 3 guns in one.

        1. Lachowsky

I don’t have one, but I have shot one of my buddies. It’s pretty brutal. I have never shot a 460.

My friend who has a 500 is a really big dude. He’s had that gun for a couple of years and I think he’s still on his first box of shells.

          1. Hmmmm, that kind of clears things up. It’d be nice to have to option of shooting the really big boy 460, but if I wanna shoot .45 LC and not turn my hand into hamburger I can.

I have been a stay at home parent for 4 years and worked at Walmart dairy department before that, so prospects not great.

    3. Lachowsky

I interviewed for an internal company move up about 6 months ago. I was turned down, but given a lot of encouragement. I was moved from the rolling mill to the melt ship to give me experience in that area, as my inexperience in the melt shop was the main factor in me not getting the promotion. I’ve been there 6 months. The head of my department spent about an hour talking with me yesterday about another position that’s going to open up in the next 6 months. He wants me to do it. It’s a better position than I originally applied for.

Long story short, opportunities will always continue to present themselves to one who is motivated and capable.

    1. hayeksplosives

I matriculated High School in the very early 90s, and all I had heard from newspapers and public school teachers was how much better Japanese students and Japanese schools were than we were, how we needed to be in school from 8 to 5, all year round, and how America was going to fall behind if we didn’t fix it.

Now what I know is that 9 out of 10 Japanese youths either don’t know how to fuck or don’t want to, so I am not really concerned about that particular yellow menace.

Also, 2 way different cultures. Not so many American yutes kill themselves if they don’t get a high SAT score. I see that as a good thing.

Being group centered society brings up a whole host of problems that an individual centered society won’t have. For me, the perfect situation is living among a group centered society, but being an individualist personally. Most people need outside pressure to correct bad behavior and if you aren’t going to have the church or family putting that pressure on people, you get individualist nihilism or governmental oppression. There is no utopia.

      1. CPRM

I’m going with SugarFree’s characterizations. “The Hair is sort of world-weary and sad, maybe even a little gay.”

      2. CPRM

But yeah, the hair in the stories always seems to try to be the voice of reason (drink) while the hat is the Id.

    3. CPRM

Just a bump to see if anyone still active has thoughts on this version of the hair voice.

Certainly cool off work, as opposed to your water BS OTJ, I do about 9 bottles a day

      1. Lachowsky

About 5 years ago, I was at work. All of a sudden the place went dark. It was august in arkansas. 110 degrees with Hugh humidity. I starting running around trying to figure out what happened. I found a manhole cover laying about 40 feet from where it should have. I found the hole the lid was supposed to covering. The hole was full of water.

That hole was a junction box for high voltage underground lines. I found the feeder disconnect amd shut it off. I then dropped a sump pump into the hole and pumped the water out. When the water was below the cables, I went into the hole and began repairs on the cables. It took me 10 hours to make the repairs. I drank more than 48 bottles of water while I was in that hole. I didn’t take a single piss.

        1. Yusef drives a Kia

I got a call for an 8″ Copper Water line no one could fix, right on a main Street, I said, Get me a bigger torch, and I went down into a ten foot deep pit, shored but still not my scene. I lit the fucker up and burned the bottom end then handed it of to a rookie and said, See, that’s how it’s done.I just about melted in that space,Lach, You Da Man!

          1. Lachowsky

Ha! I know exactly the first time I heard that song. My brother, I, and some of our friends drove to Dallas to see radiohead in 2007. While at that concert I hooked up with a Mexican girl. I inconvenienced the fuck out of my brother and friends by disappearing with this girl. The next day when I needed my friends so could go back home with them, they came and got me. As soon as I got in the car to leave with them, my brother played that song. Good times.

          2. CPRM

There are few songs I remember exactly where I was the first time I heard it. One is Closing Time by Semi-Sonic.

          3. CPRM

Oddly enough, another is the Macarena. A shitty song, but I was 13 at a school dance, and too afraid to approach the girl of my dreams.

          4. dbleagle

A great song. I remember the first night I saw the SC while sailing. This song instantly came to mind.

      2. CPRM

Everytime I hear this song, I wonder if Trent Rezner felt bad for how much better this old man did his song, or was appreciative.

        1. Lachowsky

I didn’t even click on your your link and I know what you are talking about. Cash took hurt away from reznor.

I heard an interview with trent years ago where he was asked about johnny covering his song. His answer was basically, “it’s his song now. He did it better than I ever could have. “

          1. Nephilium

If it helps, from all that I’ve heard locally, Trent was an asshole even before NIN hit it big.

  31. Juvenile Bluster

It’s nearly 1 AM, I’m doped up on klonopin but can’t sleep, Stressed about work tomorrow due to the fact that the only thing I hate more than I hate myself are other lawyers, especially the $1000 an hour big city type working on the other side of a deal. Always with the 11:59 PM (depending on time zone) e-mails so they can show you how late they’re working. Good thing I’ve already stopped giving a shit about work until I walk into my office in a few hours.

    Watching degenerate anime.

Only things that keep me from going and living out my life as a hermit somewhere in the Appalachians are my wife, my kid and y’all, because even though most of you have shit political opinions (I’m the only true libertarian), y’all are fun.

(klonopin: not as fun as booze, but it lowers my inhibitions anyways)
(I really need to talk to my therapist about beta blockers for when I have to speak to a group. I’d love something that would actually work, like pot or MDMA, but I’ll take what I can get for now in this backwards-ass state.)

    1. CPRM

MDMA may not go the best when trying to oppose someone else. You’re just a simple country chicken lawyer.

    2. Nephilium

Not a lawyer, but I know the feeling of hating the late night e-mails (I work in IT). I’m trying to decide if it’s better to give my two weeks notice in e-mail, text, or phone call. My boss hasn’t been in the office for the past two weeks, so there’s no chance of it being a face to face notice.

Here’s hoping the formal offer e-mail comes soon…

      1. CPRM

tack it on his door 99 Thesis style, unless you’re not one of those heathen protestants, then do it like a man! Get loaded, go to work and tell him off. Catholic Pride!

        1. Nephilium

I’m an ordained Apathetic Agnostic. I don’t know, and I don’t care. I figure once I get the formal offer, I’ll call my boss’s desk phone, leave a voice mail, then send an e-mail to him and his boss. Worst part is, he’s a decent guy, just a terrible boss.

    3. Lachowsky

JB, send me an email sometime. My handle woth a K in front of it @gmail. I beleive we could have a beneficial communication about anxiety and depression problems. I have them and struggle as most do. I have my ideas about how to over come amd some have helped me amd some haven’t. I’d be more than happy to communicate with you about what has worked for me and what hasn’t amd would be thrilled to get your opinion on what works for you and what doesn’t.

    4. Ed Wuncler

Preach. I work with a boss that believes that if you work super late, you’re doing a good job. That’s why I am in the fucking office right now because my bosses inability to use their time during the day productively which forces us to work late at night. I’ve tried to do whatever I can to make sure our time is being used productively but no one listens to me anyway, so fuck it. The fucked up part is that I could quit and would be fine for at least 6 months because of savings but that’s a dumb thing to do.

I need some fucking MDMA right but it might make me go apeshit and slaughter the office or at best trip some major balls.

      1. Nephilium

Damn. Unless there’s scheduled maintenance, there’s no reason to be working this late at night.

        1. Ed Wuncler

I work in finance but the issue is that I work in a very small firm, so when stuff like this happens, I can feel the brunt of it. I hate it but I’m actively looking for a new job.

I don;t mind working late if it’s because I need to finish a project but when it’s because of someone else and it’s a reoccurring problem, that sets me off.

          1. dbleagle

I informed my subordinates that I wasn’t impressed with late nights unless we had a big operation coming up or troops in contact with the enemy. If they couldn’t do their jobs in normal military days then they were inefficient and I would replace them with efficient people. They didn’t believe me until one day I noticed lights on in the HQ and stormed into there wearing my hunting clothes and told them all to “Get the fuck out of here right now!” and made them come to my quarters for wine and elk steaks.

          2. Sir Digby Chicken Caesar

stormed into there wearing my hunting clothes and told them all to “Get the fuck out of here right now!” and made them come to my quarters for wine and elk steaks.

It’s THE BESTEST MOVIE EVER!

    Raston Bot – A Ruger No.3 in .22 Hornet, Number ones in 375 H&H, 7mm Rem Mag and 30-06

Q – If you buy a pistol buy it in a caliber you can handle easily. 44 Mag is really tops for pistol. I always thought 460 and 500 S&W would be excellent calibers for a carbine. I found one…Big Horn Armory make replica Winchester ’86 scaled up to handle the 500. They are really top of the line.

I cant remember who else I was supposed to get back with.

And Left Hand, the joke goes “I would never join a club that would have me.”
